๐๐ฉ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ been up with Beth all night. Ivy had held Beth's hand and consoled her. Ivy had told Beth she didn't have to talk about it if she didn't want too, but Beth insisted that if she talked about it she would feel better about it. Beth wanted to cry, but it was almost as if she didn't have enough energy for tears.
ย "We should get some sleep." Ivy spoke to the sulking girl. Beth nodded and sighed sadly.
ย "Yeah, you're right." Beth breathed out. Beth slipped off her sweater, leaving her in just a tank top and her pants.
ย "You can sleep with me tonight if you want... I'm pretty good company." Ivy joked. Beth laughed a bit and laid down underneath Ivy's blanket. Ivy got underneath the blanket as well, laying besides the girl in the small twin sized bed.
ย Ivy sighed as she closed her eyes, trying to sleep. It was like this a lotโ a challenge for Ivy to fall asleep, but it seems for Beth that it was easy.
ย A few minutes passed and Ivy looked over at Beth, the girl sleeping peacefully, her lips gaped slightly. Ivy smiled to herself, a wave of calmness falling over her body.
The next morning Ivy woke up to see Beth now curled up in her arms. Ivy got up , trying not to wake up the girl and stripped her clothes. She threw on a white tank top and a pair of Beth's skinny jeans. She put her boots on and put her hair into two side braids. She grabbed her belt and holster, putting it on securely.
ย She walked out her cell to see Rick and Judith. Rick looked up at the girl and smiled.
ย "You're up early." Rick noticed. Ivy nodded and stood by his side so she can see Judith. Ricks alarm went off catching the two's attention. "Can you watch Judith while I go wake up Carl?" Ivy nodded and Rick handed Judith to the girl.
ย "Hi sweet-girl." Ivy adored Judith. Judith was perfect. She was the cutest little girl Ivy had ever laid her eyes on. Ivy hoped she would watch Judith grow up, but then again, anything could happen.
ย A few moments later, Rick and Carl walked out of the cell. Carl was wearing a brown collared shirt on top of a blue ish grey ish shirt. If you asked Ivy, she would tell you the stupid incel was quite handsomeโ if she would ever admit it.
ย "Ranger Rick, why haven't you been wearing your hat?" Ivy asked. Carl came and took Judith from Ivy, saying a quick good morning to his little sister before handing Judith back to Ivy.
ย "Why do you care?" Carl spat.
ย "Because your hair looks horrible, I'm just helping you out." Ivy spoke rudely before walking away. "I'm gonna bring Judy outside, is that alright?"
ย "Yeah that's fine, we'll be right behind you." Rick answered. Ivy walked out the prison.
ย It was sunny that day, and quite warm. Ivy saw Michonne and walked to her.
ย "You going on a run?" Ivy asked as she held Judith. Michonne nodded and ran her hand over her horse.
ย "I'll pick up some more books for you, anything else?" Michonne question.
ย "If you happen to come across that shoe store, see if there's any black boots in Judiths size. I want us to have matching shoes!" Michonne laughed at the girl and nodded.
ย Ivy knew she was getting close to everyone really quickly, but she couldn't help it. These people made her feel safe.
ย "Carls coming over here." Michonne warned. Ivy nodded and turned on her heel, walking right past the Grimes men.
ย Ivy brought Judith up to one of the tables outside and sat down, making Ivy sigh. "I really don't like your brother." Ivy said to Judith. "I like you way more."
ย As Ivy played with Judith, Carl watched the whole thing. He was helping his father but he couldn't help but take a few glances at the girl every once and a while.
ย Ivy jumped at the sudden sound of close gunfire. Ivy clutched onto Judith tight and stood up. Ivy grabbed the gun from her belt and cocked it. Ivy ran towards Rick with Judith.
ย Rick ran past Ivy. "Go take Judith to Carl! Stay with him!" Rick ordered.
ย "Butโ" Ivy tried, but Rick didn't let her.
ย "Don't argue with me, go!" Rick scolded. Ivy ran to Carl and handed him Judith.
ย "You're not going." Carl said coldly.
ย "I am." Ivy answered. Ivy turned on her heels but Carl grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him.
ย "No you're not."
ย "You're not my dad," Ivy snapped. "So why should listen to you?"
ย "Just shut up and stop being so stubborn." Carl spat. Ivy knew Carl was right, so she decided to comply.
ย "Help! Help! Please come quick!" Ivy and Carl whipped there head to see Lizzie running out of the prison.
"Cell block?" Maggie yelled to Rick from the watch tower.
"I don't know." Rick yelled back. "Get in the tower with Maggie. Don't argue, go." Carl and Ivy nodded and ran towards the tower.
Ivy heard Glenn yell about walkers in D block. She just prayed everyone was ok. Carl stopped in front of the tower and handed Judith to Ivy as they heard Michonne whistle.
"Please keep her safe." Carl said softly.
"You don't have to tell me." Ivy stated as she walked up the tower. She got to the top and stayed outside to keep watch and stood with Maggie. Judith started crying so Ivy took her inside the tower. Ivy paced around the tower, bouncing Judith.
"Sh sh, it's ok sweet girl. It's alright." Ivy assured. All Ivy heard was yelling and screaming. Maggie ran down to the ground in alert. Ivy tried to think back on what her mother used to do to get her to stop crying. Ivys mother used to talk about random things and hope for the best.
"Do you, uh, know Fleetwood Mac?" Ivy asked jokingly. "Of course you do, everyone does."
Mid conversation, Judith stopped crying. Ivy babbled on about random things. She talked about trees, the sky, random things that might interest a little girl.
A few minutes went by of Ivy rambling on about stupid topics that had no meaning, and Judith had officially stopped crying, and was on the verge of sleep.
Ivy had heard all the loudness come to an end and Ivy stood up with Judith. She looked outside to see Maggie and Carl helping Michonne walk. Ivy rushed outside and down the tower. She ran towards the three, inspecting Michonne.
"Are you ok?" Ivy questioned. Stupid question.
"I've been worst." Michonne spoke. The group walked towards the prison and Rick came walking out. Carl immediately let go off Michonne and ran to hug Rick.
"Hey, you might want to stay back." Rick warned. "Carl." Carl didn't care what Rick said and hugged him tightly.
"Dad, i'm sorry." Ivy faintly heard Carl say. "I didn't see you come out."
"It's ok, i'm here. I'm fine. But away." Rick let go of Carl and Carl stepped back a bit.
"I had to use one of the guns by the gate." Ivy knew why Carl wasn't allowed to have a gun, she just never brought it up. She didn't feel it was her place to even know. "I swear I didn't want to."
Wow, he does have feelings, Ivy thought. Shocker.
"I was coming back, I fell. They came out and helped me." Michonne spoke.
"Are you alright?" Rick asked and Michonne nodded. Rick looked to his daughter and Ivy. "Is she alright- are you alright?"
"Yeah i'm fine. She's ok- she's great actually." Rick tilted his head in confusion but quickly got her answer when Ivy showed him the sleeping baby.
"How'd you do it?" Rick inquired.
"A true magician never reveals her secrets." Ivy joked.
"What happened in there?" Maggie almost immediately asked. Rick took a deep breathe in before looking at Carl and Ivy.
"Patrick got sick last night."
Ivy closed her eyes and held Judith close. She looked to the ground and waited for the bad news to roll in.
"It's some kind of flu. It moves fast."
Ivy closed her eyes, trying to stop the tears threatening to spill.
"We think he died and attacked the cell block." Rick spoke again. Ivy nodded weakly, looking over at Carl for a split second. He looked hurt, but he looked used to it.
"I'm sorry kids. I know he was y'all's friends." Rick said. "He was a good kid. We lost a lot of good people."
Ivy didn't feel the need to respond, she physically couldn't.
Ivy didn't have a lot, but she had Patrick. Now she doesn't, but she'll get used to it. She's adaptable, and she's used to change.
She still had the people at the prison, which was now her family and she adored them for it. She didn't fully trust them at first, but she got used to them.
Ivy really didn't want to get close with Carl, especially at this point in time. She was vulnerable and she would want to be his friend out of sadness, not out of pure want for his friendship.
"Glenn and your dad are ok," Rick told Maggie which made Ivy sigh in relief when she heard that they were ok. Ivy looked at Rick with a sad look. "Beth is alright."
Some part of Ivy felt a bit better, but she doesn't think she could shake off Patricks death quite yet.
"Y'all shouldn't get too close to anyone that might've been exposed," Rick explained. "at least for a little while."
"Does that include me?" Ivy spoke softly. Rick sighed, not really knowing the answer. "I was around him not long before nightfall."
Everyone looked at her.
"Here." Ivy handed Judith to Carl. Carls gaze was soft, which was a change from how he usually looked at Ivy. "It's better if I stay away from her."
Ivy was usually very high tempered, and always had something to say, but in this moment, she was just tired.
