Her hand writing was messy, and she misspelled a few words. Enid giggled to herself a bit as she watched the girl. Ivy folded up the finished letter and pushed it to the side.

Ivy sighs. "Teenage girl loses both her parents, most of her friends, and then watches her father figure get his head bashed in right in front of her? I think they'll believe I committed suicide." Ivy laughed. Carl and Enid looked to each other with saddened eyes. The way Ivy talked about these kinds of things with ease made them worry.

"I'm just worried." Carl spoke. Ivy nodded and swallowed deeply. "I don't want either of you getting hurt."

Ivy shook her head no. "We'll be fine." Ivy said as she collected the notes. She handed them to Carl, and he took them hesitantly.

Ivy convinced Negan to let her stay for a few days so that she could say goodbye to her friends and pack all her stuff up. The plan was to pretend she committed suicide, so that her and Enid could escape to Hilltop.

Ivy knew it was wrong to leave her sister like this. But, her sister was a Savior now, nothing more, nothing less.

"I don't think I want you guys going alone." Carl said. Enid bit her cheek as she looked to Ivy. "I'm gonna come, okay?"

Ivy laughed and shook her head. "Oh, god no." Carl furrowed his eyebrows.

"I think its a good ideaโ€”" Enid was cut off by Ivy.

"No, it's not." Ivy shook her head. She grabbed the backpack that her and Enid would be using and slung it over her shoulder. "You need to stay here incase the Saviors come."

Enid watched as the two disagreed back and forth.

"V, I need to know that you get there safely. Iโ€” I can't lose you." Carl stuttered up. Ivy picked up a jacket just in case and held it close.

"You won't." Ivy stated. She walked to the front door of the Grimes house and exited it, Enid and Carl following. "Me and Enid will be fine. Right, babe?"

"Yeah." Enid didn't sound to sure. Ivy turned around and looked at the two. Ivy crossed her arms.

Carl smiled weakly at the girl. "Fine. You wanna come?" Carl nodded. "Fine, let's go. Wanna be halfway there for sundown."

As she watched her boyfriend her boyfriend grip the steering wheel of the car, and bounce his knee, Ivy could only imagine what he was feeling. As she looked behind her and into the backseat at her best friend, she saw worry wash over Enids face as well.

"It's getting dark." Carl spoke, watching the moon rise up into the sky. He stopped the car and looked at the two girls. "We'll stay here for the night, okay?" Ivy and Enid nodded in response.

"E, you take the backseat. Me and Carl will take these seats, they can recline." Ivy stated. Enid nodded and laid down, beginning to play with her hair.

Not to long after, Enid had drifted to sleep. Ivy was kept up by the thoughts taking over her mind. She wasn't able to sleep for the past couple nights due to her thinking about Glenn and Abraham, and not even being able to sleep in Carls arms.

Ivy closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep, but she couldn't. She anxiously played with her fingers as she was left alone with her thoughts.

Is this what I'm supposed to be doing?

Is this the way of life? Am I even doing it right?

Ivy though millions of things. Tearing herself down and everyone around her. Ivy drowned her in thoughts and sorrow, until a voice took her out of her thoughts.

"Babe?" Carl whispered. Ivy looked over at the boy. "C'mere." Ivy climbed over the center console and onto his lap. She didn't straddle him, she just sat there, head on his chest and his hand on her thigh.

"I've been not sleeping, and throwing up every morning." Ivy spoke quietly. "Iโ€” I just keep thinking about them. That night. The way I looked down at all of you... tโ€” the way he just... he just killed them." Ivy still didn't cry, and Carl was worried.

Carl rubbed the side of her thigh. He looked down at the girl and kissed her passionately. Ivy quickly kissed back, grabbing the side of his face. Carl gripped her hips tightly.

"Sโ€”stop." Ivy stuttered back as pushed his chest gently. Carl furrowed his eyebrows. "Enids right there."

Carl shrugged. "She's sleeping... and besides, We don't have to do anything, Love." Carl smiled. "I just wanna hold you. And, I want you to get some sleep." Ivy nodded and dipped her head back onto Carls chest. "Goodnight, my love."

"Goodnight, Carl. I love you."

Ivy bit her cheek. "Yeah. I am, too." Ivy spoke.

"I'm not." Carl shrugged. Ivy looked up at the boy with furrowed brows. "I watched it. Both times. I didn't look away."

"Why?" Ivy asked. Carl kicked a pinecone out of the way.

Carl hesitated before speaking. "Because, when it was happening, I knew that I needed to remember it. So when I had the chance to kill him, I wouldn't have a choice." Carl explained.

"I think I'd kill him, too." Enid said, tears filling her eyes. Ivy looked over at Enid, meeting her eyes. "It's messed up, but... that's how it is. You do things for the ones you love. Loved."

"It's not for them." Carl shook his head. Ivy dropped his hand.

"Yes, it is." Ivy spoke. Carl and Enid both looked at the girl. "I'd do anything for Glenn and Abraham. This is all about them. It's never been about anyone else, and it never will be."

Enid cleared her throat. "You haven't cried." Enid pointed out. Ivy laughed and walked a few feet before Carl and Enid.

"It's done. It doesn't matter." Ivy shrugged. Carl and Enid looked at each other with worried looks. "Crying shows weakness. Negan can't see that we're weak."

"Crying doesn't show weakness. It shows humanity." Carl stated.

"No." Ivy smiled, trying to mask her pain. "We don't even know if Maggie's okay. For all we know her and the baby areโ€”"

Enid cut her off quickly. "Don't." A tear fell from Enids eye. "Don't talk like that." Ivy scoffed as they continued walking.

The three had been walking for another 20 minutes. They all stayed in pure silence, not one daring to break it. Enid and Carl worriedly watched Ivy as she walked ahead of them.

Carl stopped walking for a few seconds once he saw a bag. Enid turned around and looked at him crouching down with a smile. Enid saw what he was holding and nodded.

"Hey, V!" Enid called. Ivy turned around and saw Carl holding roller skates. Ivy smiled softly as she made her way over to Enid and Carl.

The three teenagers put on the roller skates, laughing the entire time.

"Do they fit?" Enid asked Ivy. Ivy shrugged.

"They're a little big, but it'll work." Ivy answered. Carl stood up and grabbed Ivy's hands, helping her up. Ivy helped Enid up and intertwined their fingers.

Enid and Ivy went ahead of Carl. The two girls giggled as the rolled along the road. Ivy tripped slightly, and Enid caught her. The two girls laughed louder before Ivy felt someone grab her waist.

Ivy let out a squeal as Carl put her back down. Ivy stood in between Carl and Enid, holding onto both of their hands.

Carl slid, and Enid and Ivy laughed out. "You good, Carl?" Enid inquired through giggles. Carl nodded his head, and smiled.

"This feels so great." Ivy breathed out. The two teenagers smiled at her widely. "It feels good to be a kid, again, and not worrying about all this crazy shit." Carl nodded.

Enid sighed as she looked at Ivy. "Ivy, you're so pretty." Enid complimented. Ivy blushed and Carl cleared his throat.

"Hello? I'm right here!" Carl interrupted. Enid scoffed.

Enid pulled Ivy away from Carl, making Ivy and Carl break hands. "Don't be mad she likes me better!" Enid exclaimed. Ivy laughed as her and Enid skated before Carl.

Carl let out a breathy laugh as he watched the two girls. All he ever wanted was for Ivy to be happy. And, his wish was finally coming true.

"I don't think Negans here." Carl sighed. "I don't see that black truck." Carl looked over at Ivy.

Ivy looked at Simon from a distance, and scoffed. "His bitch is here." Ivy muttered. Ivy's face dropped when she realized something. She looked over at Carl with soft eyes. "You didn't come here to protect us. You came to kill Negan." Enids mouth gaped and pointed to the forest.

"I'll give you guys a minute." Enid whispered and walked away. Ivy looked at Carl, and he turned to look at the girl. He looked down at the girl and licked his lips.

"I can't let them get away with this." Carl told. Ivy nodded and looked down at the ground. "You know that."

"I know." Ivy answered. She shook her head no and she scoffed. "I just thought that you we're actually coming for me and Enid. I thought that for once... for once, we could just forget about things and enjoy each others company." Carl grabbed Ivy's hand.

Carls eye softened. "You could come with me. Me, you, Enid. We all wanna kill them." Carl put forward. Ivy shook her head no and laughed.

"Carl, Iโ€”" Ivy cut herself off. "I promised Glenn I would do everything to protect Maggie and the baby. I need to be here. But, you could stay with me." Ivy pushed a strand of Carls hair behind his ear.

Ivy moved her face closer to Carls. "You're doing it for you, Carl. Not for everyone else, but yourself." Ivy stated. Carl scoffed.

"It'd be for me, and you. So, we could have a future without Negan. So, weโ€”" Carl ranted, but Ivy quickly cut him off.

"It's not about us." Ivy muttered. Ivy placed her hand on Carls shoulder. "I don't want you to go. Wโ€”what if something happens to you?"

Carl leaned his forehead against Ivy's. "I won't leave you. I promise." Carl smiled. Ivy closed her eyes and inhaled.

"Don't make a promise you know you can't keep." Ivy stated. Carl shook his head no.

"I promise. I'm gonna come back to you." Carl grabbed onto Ivy's waist and pulled her close. "And, if I don't, it wouldn't matter."

"It would to me, Carl. You're the only person left in this world that makes sense to me." Ivy sighed. "You're my best friend, and the love of my life. If I lost you, I don't know what I would do with myself..."

Carl smirked. "If I come back, I'm gonna make sure I treat you like a princess." Carl said. Ivy blushed. "Okay?"

Ivy hesitantly nodded. Carl kissed her lips passionately as he gripped her waist. Ivy grabbed the back of his neck and stood on her tippy toes.

They broke away from the kiss, and Carl rested his forehead onto Ivy's again. "I'll come back."

"Just come with me, please." Ivy pleaded. Carl shook his head no.

"I'm just gonna go home." Carl lied. Ivy giggled and covered her mouth. Carl chuckled. "What?"

"You're such a bad liar." Ivy laughed. Carl sucked his teeth and wrapped his arms around Ivy's waist. "I wish I could stop you, but, I know I can't. Even though, I can think of a thousand ways that I could..." Ivy trailed her hand down Carls chest, which resulting in Carl grabbing it.

"Don't." Carl laughed. Ivy nodded and kissed his lips again. "I love you, mama." Ivy furrowed her brows and broke the kiss.

"I've never heard that one." Ivy smiled. Carl shrugged.

"Gonna make you a mom one day." Carl stated. Ivy laughed. "You might as well get used to the name." Ivy straightened up and Carl kissed her forehead.

"Seriously, I love you." Carl whispered. Ivy hugged the boy.

"I love you, too." Ivy sighed. She looked back up at him. "Please, please, please be careful." Carl nodded. Ivy and Carl whipped their heads in the direction where the sound of trees rustling was coming from.

Enid stood there, arms crossed. "You guys done?" Enid asked with a smirk. Ivy nodded and they all laughed. Enid grabbed Ivy's hand and walked past Carl. "Don't get killed, okay? But, if you do, I'm totally banging V." Carl shook his head no.

"No, you're not." Carl replied, making Ivy laugh. "They're gonna see you guys."

"No, they're not." Enid and Ivy answered in unison.

Enid and Ivy waited for the Saviors to leave, and they made their way over the walls as they left. Enid and Ivy held hands as they made their way around Hilltop. They found a familiar spot.

Graves.

Ivy and Enid moved quickly towards the graves. They were the only graves, so the girls knew they were Glenn and Abrahams.

Ivy dropped down to her knees, dirt covering her jeans as she sat on the dirt. She placed a hand on Glenn's grave.

Enid placed the backpack down and pulled something out of them. Enid began blowing up the green balloons she found with Glenn. Ivy frowned as she watched the girl wrap the balloons around the stick, marking the grave.

Enid sighed before crouching down besides Ivy. Ivy closed her eyes, and took a deep breath in. Enid grabbed Ivy's hand to show the girl she was there for her.

"You're here." Enid and Ivy snapped their heads at the familiar voice. There stood Maggie. Healthy and alive.

The two girls quickly stood up and Ivy ran to hug her. "Are you okay? Is the baby okay?" Ivy asked panicky. Maggie looked down at the girl.

"I'm not." Ivy's face dropped and a look of hurt washed over her face. Maggie looked over at the balloons at Glenn's grave. Maggie sighed and held Glenn's pocket watch close as she looked at the grave. Maggie turned and looked at the two girls. "But I will be."

Maggie brought the two girls into a group hug. Maggie released the girls and smiled. "I don't know about y'all, but I'm starvin'." The three girls laughed and Maggie grabbed onto both of their hands.

"Let me show you around." Maggie said.

๐— ๐—”๐—š๐—š๐—œ๐—˜ ๐—”๐—ก๐—— ๐—ง๐—›๐—˜ ๐—š๐—œ๐—ฅ๐—Ÿ๐—ฆ practically drooled at the smell of Enids cooking. Maggie had showed the girls around Hilltop, and introduced them to some people. After that, Maggie was starving even more, so Enid prepared a meal for the group.

"People told us you killed walkers and a car..." Enid trailed off as she brought the food over to the table. "with a tractor?" Ivy moved three bowls and scattered them in front of each seat.

"I couldn't sit by and watch." Maggie answered. "Not again. So I guess I sat and did something." Enid sat down and placed the grilled cheese and soup in the middle of the table.

"You're supposed to take it easy." Ivy reminded her. Maggie shrugged.

"It wasn't hard." Maggie said. Ivy shook her head and laughed slightly. Maggie grabbed a soup spoon and began placing soup into her bowl. "It wasn't the first time." Ivy and Enid furrowed their eyebrows and looked at each other. "There was this boy in high school."

Ivy's mouth gaped. "You ran over the boy?" Ivy asked. Maggie nodded.

"His car." Maggie smirked. Ivy and Enids jaws dropped at the woman's words. The two girls laughed. "It was a Camaro. And then it wasn't." Maggie put some soup into Enid and Ivy's bowls.

The door of the trailer opened, making everyone's attention shift. Sasha walked inside and furrowed her eyebrows when she saw the girls.

"Girls." Sasha smiled.

"Hi." Enid greeted. Sasha looked over at Ivy and hugged her.

"Hey, Sash." Sasha patted Ivy's back and then looked at the two girls. Ivy looked around at the two adults. "Um, we came to help."

"You guys came by yourself?" Sasha asked. Ivy and Enid looked at each other before nodding.

"Yeah. Have some dinner." Enid answered. Sasha pulled out the chair next to Enid, sitting down. Ivy sat across from Enid, with Maggie and Sasha right next to here.

"Why are there balloons on Abrahams grave?" Sasha inquired as she sat down. Maggie looked at the two girls.

"I didn't have the heart to tell you." Maggie replied. "Glenn would've. He was bad liar." Ivy laughed slightly.

"The worst." Ivy muttered and Maggie smiled. Enid looked over at Sasha.

"Sorry." Enid apologized. "There was nothing marking the graves. Me and V thought the balloons were a nice touch."

Sasha shook her head no and smiled. "No need to be sorry. Nothing wrong with balloons." Enid and Ivy smiled at the women.

Maggie grabbed Glenn's pocket watch off the table. "I was gonna use this for Glenn's." Maggie said. "It was my dads. He gave it to him." Maggie looked over at Ivy and held out the pocket watch. "But, I'm giving it to you."

Ivy sighed and pulled her lips into a thin line. She swallowed deeply and took the watch. Maggie looked over at Enid. "I'm trying to figure out what I should give you." Maggie stated. "I didn't give you the pocket watch because you couldn't give a damn about the time." The girls all laughed together.

"We don't need anything to remember him by." Maggie continued. Ivy held the watch close to her face as it was clutched up in her hand. "We have us."

Maggie held her hands out for Enid and Ivy to grab. Ivy out down the pocket watch and grabbed Maggie and Sasha's hands. All the girls held hands as Maggie began. Ivy looked around at all the women, smiling at them. They all ducked their heads down so that Maggie could start.

"For this new morning, with its light..." Maggie started. "for rest and shelter of the night... for health and food... for love and friends... for everything that goodness sends. Amen."

"Amen." Everyone said in unison. They all looked up and began eating.

As Ivy looked around, she was starting to realize things. It was all starting to make sense. The purpose of life was quite clear as she watched the smiles grow on her families faces. As she watched everyone come together, and love each other no matter what.

That was the purpose of life. Life is about getting knocked down, but getting up. Life was about never giving up.

And, that couldn't be more clearer than now.
