That was a three years ago.

Ivy stuck beside her family those whole three years, until about a couple months ago they got separated. Ivy was left with just her parents. Aaliyah, Aaliyahs girlfriend, Lacey, and Lacey's little sister, Adalyn had parted from the group.

Ivy and her parents, Paul and Rosalie were walking through the woods. They were hunting, trying to find anything they can eat.

Ivy held her gun up, checking all around for any animal. She heard small hops behind her. She quickly turned around a put a bullet through the bunny. Ivy lifted up her shirt and shoved her gun back into her gun belt and picked up the bunny.

It used to be challenging for Ivy to kill animals, but now it was the normal. You either hunt or get hunted. And no one said either options would be pretty.

Ivy made her way towards her parents who were still checking for animals.

"Here you guys go." Ivy handed the bunny off to her father. As the three walked back over to their camp fire, they found some of the dead near the camp.

"I've got it." Ivy spoke as she grabbed one of her many knifes from her gun belt. Who knew gun belts could be used for other things?

Ivy plunged the knife through one of the walkers skulls, violently removing the knife as blood splattered onto her face.

Ivy had became more violent and aggressive over the past view months. Any sane human being would most likely fall into a deep state of depression due to the state of the world. But some reason, it made Ivy more dangerous. It was good Ivy was dangerous, but it worried her parents.

Ivy finished off the dead and wiped the blood from the knife onto her shirt. She kept the knife by her side just in case. She gagged slightly as she lifted to dirt covered shirt to her face, which also reeked of carnage, and wiped the crimson colored liquid from her skin.

During an apocalypse, there really isn't much to say. You can't really make conversation about brutally re-killing the dead.

So when the Castillos walked, they walked mostly in silence. Not bothering to try and bring up any hurtful memories. For the most part they didn't speak much anyways. Ivy was borderline mute. Her parents couldn't figure out if she didn't know what to say, or if it was the heartache and the brokenness that left her at a loss for words.

Once they finally reached the camp fire, she sat down on the ground and stretched out her legs. She sighed and laid down on the ground.

Her father started to work on the bunny, her mother was sharpening knives, and Ivy was just.... thinking.

Thinking about how all three of them could be dead tomorrow. Ivy wondered a lot if there was any point in even continuing on with life, in this hell. She knew this was life, but she still always hoped a miracle would happen. She had a feeling in her stomach that something was going good but then again, it may be due to the fact that she had been digesting odd animals for three years.

Ivy's thoughts were cut short by the sound of the dead. Ivy shot up and grabbed her knife. Her parents attacked the dead, but there was to many.

Ivy stepped in as she saw her parents getting ambushed. Ivy started slaughtering the dead but then she got pushed away roughly. Ivy looked up to see her two parents getting their flesh ripped out. Tears fell bro Ivy's eyes as her and her father kept and held eye contact.

"Go." Her father managed to speak. His voice was raspy and breaking. Ivy froze as she watched the sight in front of her, her whole body shaking and becoming week.

But her fathers words triggered something in her. She wasn't going to sit here and watch as her parents got ripped apart in front of her. That wasn't an option. So, she grabbed their belongings and ran.

She for a few minutes until she was all alone in the woodsβ€” although she knew she wasn't.

As her senses finally took over, she broke. Tears began streaming down her face, her sobs shattered as she looked down at the ground.

She tried to convince herself it wasn't real, but she wasn't stupid. This was real.

"Fuck." Ivy sighed as she covered her face with sleeve covered hands. "Fuck!"

What the hell was she going to do now?
