Feel The Night

"A little to the left," Tory said, footing the step ladder as she watched Theo hang fairy lights around the ceiling. Christmas was fast approaching and she had called her boyfriend to help her decorate the apartment.

Grace and Elise were sat on the sofa, a cup of coffee in their hands as they smiled at their children working together.

"Am I going left or right, because you've changed your mind about eight times now," Theo said in mock frustration. In response, Tory clicked the button to turn the lights on, temporarily blinding him which caused the three women to laugh.

"How about you just do as I say instead?" Tory teased, her hand on Theo's back as he wobbled slightly.

"Yes ma'am," Theo mumbled, going back to it.

—————

Tory, Theo, Robby, Kyler, Hawk and a few others stood in a small clearing behind the zoo.

"Remember, we've got one shot at this. Quick, in and out, we'll be good," Theo said. He turned to Kyler, who wore a confident grin. "Know what to do?"

"Hell yeah," Kyler replied.

Tory crossed her arms, a teasing smirk on her face. "Someone took their time," she said, glancing at Robby, who had just arrived.

"Yeah, you invited him?" Hawk asked, tilting his head toward Robby with a hint of skepticism.

Tory nodded, not backing down. "Theo and I did. Got a problem with that?"

"Here you go, Keene," Kyler said, holding out a beer towards Robby.

Robby shook his head firmly. "I'm good."

Hawk rolled his eyes, a smirk on his lips. "What, can't handle a sip of beer?"

Robby shrugged, his expression steady. "I don't need to pretend to be cool."

Theo stepped in, laughing. "Yeah, you'll fit in just fine," he said, patting Robby on the back. "Let's go!" Theo said, moving towards the chainlink fence at the edge of the clearing. He held it open for the others to climb through, glancing back to make sure everyone was following.

As Tory climbed through, she turned back to Robby with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry. It's not gonna violate your probation. You got outta juvie, not Sing Sing."

Robby raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "You resorting to peer pressure?"

Theo chimed in with a laugh, "Yeah, it's kinda her thing."

Tory shot him a playful punch in the stomach, grinning as she kissed his cheek. The three of them made it to the other side, joining their friends who were already waiting.

"Why do we have to sneak in?" Robby asked, looking around as if trying to gauge the situation.

"Trust me, you'll see," Tory said with a grin.

"Right, there are two cameras over there. The guard goes on break once every hour," he whispered, his focus unwavering.

Hawk glanced at his watch, anxiety creeping into his voice. "So we have less than five minutes."

Robby, still trying to wrap his head around the plan, asked, "Five minutes to do what?"

Tory stepped forward, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. "We're getting a little gift for the Senseis," she said, her excitement palpable as they approached the door marked 'REPTILE ROOM, DO NOT ENTER, STAFF ONLY.'

"There she is," Theo said, pointing to the snake inside the enclosure, his voice barely above a whisper.

He whistled lowly, crouching down to get a better look at the striking creature coiled inside the box. "You got the snake pole?"

Kyler's eyes widened as he suddenly remembered. "Oh, shit! Snake pole, right."

Hawk shot him a glare, clearly frustrated. "Theo and I orchestrated this entire plan, and you don't do that one thing?"

"I forgot, okay? I've got a lot on my mind. If I don't pass trig, my dad's gonna shit in my mouth," Kyler defended himself.

Theo raised an eyebrow, chuckling softly. "That's a weird analogy."

"Just reach in and grab the snake!" Tory urged, her impatience growing.

"Are you insane? I'm not gonna stick my hand in there!" Hawk exclaimed, his face pale at the thought.

Just then, a voice boomed from outside the exhibit. "Who's in there?"

Hawk's eyes widened in panic. "Shit!"

Realising they had no time to waste, the other three dashed out of the reptile room, leaving Theo and Robby standing together. They exchanged glances.

"Hold the bag open; I'll reach in and grab it," Theo instructed, his voice steady despite the chaos.

"Are you sure?" Robby asked, concern evident in his tone.

"Not the first time I would've got bitten by a snake," Theo replied, a grin creeping onto his face.

With a deep breath, he positioned himself, carefully opening the enclosure. The snake flicked its tongue out, sensing the air around it. Theo reached in, his heart racing as he carefully grasped the snake, feeling its scales against his skin.

"Got it!" he exclaimed, gently pulling the snake out, its body coiling around his arm.

"Just don't drop it!" Robby said nervously, keeping the bag wide open for Theo to deposit the snake inside.

Theo maneuvered the snake carefully, the creature wriggling slightly but remaining calm. "I've got this," he assured Robby, his focus unwavering as he slid the snake into the bag.

Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed closer, and Theo's heart raced. "We need to go—now!"

—————

Hawk stood with his arms crossed, frustration etched across his face. "We failed the mission 'cause of you!" he shouted, pointing an accusing finger at Kyler.

Kyler threw his hands up defensively. "Hey! It's not my fault! I had a lot on my mind!"

Robby, catching the tail end of their argument, interjected. "Who said we failed?" He looked over at Hawk, raising an eyebrow as if challenging him.

Just then, the others turned to see Theo and Robby emerging from the shadows, a bag in hand. The unmistakable sound of hissing filled the air as the snake inside wriggled, its tongue flicking out in agitation.

"No way! You got it? Unreal!" Tory exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief and excitement.

Robby grinned, holding up the bag triumphantly. "It was mainly Theo; he reached in and got it."

Theo stepped forward, a proud smile on his face as he opened the bag slightly to give everyone a glimpse of the snake. "Just another day in the life, right?"

—————

The sun had set over Encino Oaks Country Club, a gentle breeze rustled the leaves of nearby trees as Theo, Cami, Kai, and Freddie arrived. Theo stepped out first, his all-black suit tailored perfectly to his frame, complemented by a red double-breasted jacket that made him look sharp. He adjusted his cuffs, a confident smile on his face as he offered Cami his arm.

Cami stepped out next, the shimmering red dress she wore hugging her figure, catching the light as she moved.

"Ready to make an impression?" she teased, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"Always," Theo replied, his gaze warm and encouraging.

Freddie and Kai emerged from the limousine, both dressed in sleek all-black suits, each adorned with a red pocket square that tied their looks together. They shared a quick nod before moving to join Theo and Cami.

"Looking sharp, gentlemen!" Cami remarked, her eyes twinkling with excitement.

"Thank you! You too. You both look hot," Freddie said, giving Cami a playful nudge.

"Let's not keep the crowd waiting," Kai added, glancing at the entrance to the club.

As they made their way toward the entrance, Theo's eyes wandered to the bar. "You guys want something to drink first?" he asked, a mischievous glint in his eye.

"Sure, but we're all underage," Freddie pointed out.

Theo shrugged, an air of confidence about him. "Leave it to me. I'll handle it."

They approached the bar, and Theo leaned over the counter, flashing the bartender a charming smile. "Four Glenfiddich's on the rocks, please," he ordered smoothly, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

The bartender raised an eyebrow but nodded, pouring the drinks as Theo leaned back against the bar, arms crossed. Kai and Freddie exchanged nervous glances, unsure if they should be concerned or impressed.

"Dude, are you serious?" Kai whispered, glancing around to see if anyone was watching. "What if we get caught?"

"Relax," Theo replied, his voice low but confident. "Just play along."

The bartender slid the glasses across the bar, and Theo caught them effortlessly, handing one to Cami, Kai, and Freddie. "Cheers," he said, raising his glass with a grin.

"Uh, we'll be over here," Cami said when Daniel stood next to Theo at the bar.

Theo sighed slightly, ordering another drink. He leaned against the bar, his fingers tapping lightly on the polished wood as he waited.

Daniel glanced over at Theo, his expression a mix of pride and concern. "You look good, kid. That suit... really suits you," he said, attempting to break the ice.

"Thanks," Theo replied curtly, his gaze fixed on the drink menu. He could feel Daniel's eyes on him, searching for a way to connect, but the rift between them felt wider than ever.

"And Cami looks great as well," Daniel added, trying to keep the conversation light. "You two make a nice pair."

"Uh, we're not together, Tory and I are still a thing," Theo rubbed his neck awkwardly. "But yeah, she does," Theo replied, his tone neutral. He could sense the awkwardness lingering in the air.

"Listen, Theo," Daniel started, taking a deep breath. "I know things have been... complicated between us. But I want you to know that I'm proud of you. What you and your band have accomplished is incredible."

Theo shifted slightly, his jaw tightening. "I appreciate that, but it's hard to forget the things you said. About mom, the dojo... about me."

"I know I've said some things I shouldn't have, I'm the worst father ever," Daniel admitted, his voice sincere. "But I was worried about you. I just want what's best for you, and sometimes that makes me say stupid things."

Theo turned to face him, his gaze intense. "You said you never cared for me, that I was so much like my mother that I was unlovable."

"And I regret that every single day," Daniel insisted, running a hand through his hair. "I've made my share of mistakes, and I didn't want you to repeat them. But I realise now that I should have been there more for you."

The bartender approached, placing two drinks in front of them. Theo lifted his glass, taking a moment to collect his thoughts. "I get that, but it's frustrating. I wanted a loving father, not a deadbeat. Look, I'm willing to make something work between us, but I need you to know that I'm not Kreese, I'm not Silver."

"That's all I ask," Daniel said, his tone more earnest now. "I know you're not like the others, you're a good kid, with a bright future in music ahead of you. Just know that I'm here for you, no matter what. Even if I don't always show it the right way."

As they clinked their glasses together, a small smile broke through the tension. It wasn't a perfect resolution, but it was a step in the right direction. They both knew it would take time to heal, but for the first time in a while, they felt like they were on the same page.

"Cheers!" they echoed, clinking their glasses together.

"Daniel with an L and my favourite godson," a new voice chimed in.

"Aunt Ali!"
