Emmanuella POV

Its been one long week and I have to say I can't wait for it to be over. From assignments, to surprise pop quiz and now Victoria was calling for a challenge. If the challenge is about something very crucial and important,  I probably would have accepted but No,  the challenge was about who gets the spot of captain of the basketball team. I for one wouldn't accept it and just because Kelvin  had agreed to help me get better doesn't mean I am better already. So far I only got five basketball out of the supposed fifteen I was to make Sunday afternoon when we were training.

The sky way humid gray  this  Friday afternoon because it just finish pouring heavy this morning,  and for one I was glad our uniforms comes with a blazer for cold weathers like this. It was lunch break again to say I was starving was an understatement because all I had for breakfast was fruit salad. My mom prepared it for me last night but I couldn't take it because I was too exhausted from reading on how to be a pro at basketball.

"Oh. Emm. Gee!!!! look Emma the school is gracing us with my favorite food! Potato porridge!!!! "

Lydia said with a ear deafening shriek,  I growled at her and this caused her to immediately shut up as we went to line up for our food. Once we got it Lydia and I went to join the rest of the gang at out usual table. Once we were properly sited we began to dig in and i almost moaned as each spoon full of potato porridge hit my taste buds.

It was then i came to a conclusion that,  if people were as  romantic then food must be Aromantic. We ate our food in silence as we each didn't want to be disturbed while we all savour our meal,  it was one way to enjoy the raining seasons as we each took our favorite soft drinks to wash it down. After we quietly finished our meal Lydia was the first to break the comfortable silence as she said.

"Was that a meal or what? God I love potato porridge, actually porridge of any kind but potato porridge is the best. Right guys? "

"Hmmmhmmm you're right sis "

"Ohyeyeah"

Replied Mercy and Faruq, Lydia smiked before looking at kelvin to ask

"So Greek god,  how's you and Emma's basketball practice coming in? "

"Umm umm okay I guess, she is still a little rusty thought . "

"Its fine, just make sure you whip her into shape for this coming tournament. Its gonna be bigggggg"

"I don't know guys, maybe forcing this isn't such a good idea. Maybe i wasn't born to play basketball you know.. "

I responded after exchanging eyes contact with kelvin's but everyone at the table stared at me shocked at my response,  even I was shocked at my own response. Mercy responded to my statement saying.

"Okay Missy,  who are you and what did you do with our Emmanuella?  because the one we know doesn't give up easy."

"And neither does she accept defeat "

Faruq and Lydia said simultaneously causing them both to blush, while me and Ebuka gave them a knowing smirk. Chigoze's and Mercy decided to make their situation worsen by simultaneously saying.

" hmm okay, me self I go love oo "

At this point Mercy  was immediately red all over as she did expect to say the same thing with her crush Chigoze. In the process of trying to tease Lydia she had gotten herself into the same situation. Ebuka decided to take advantage of the embarrassing situation He had put them both in by saying

"See pot calling kettle black, biko you people should carry your love story to the other room ooo.  let me be single in peace. "

Mercy and Lydia who were still visibly tomato red from the embarrassed moment, shunned Ebuka before everyone at the table bursted into laugher due to Ebuka's out burst.

We just finished sobering up when we head aloud whistle causing everyone in cafeteria to keep quiet. Victoria's loud voice echoed throughout the whole building again finally grabbing every one's attention. She was standing on one of the tables in the cafeteria as she said

"Attention fellow students or as i like to call you all,  annoying peasants. you already know its your Queen speaking and I have something that will interest you all. There is going to be a basketball sing off between Emmanuella Adetokunbo and I, Victoria komass you all are invited to come and watch... That's if, Emma doesn't bail out. "

She was still standing on the table looking at me expecting an answer,  I growl at her but she just gave me a bored expression. I looked back at my friends who were still at the table with me as we all contemplated accepting the challenge, but we had to give an answer fast because literally everyone in the cafeteria were waiting for my reply. We spoke quietly within ourselves discussing the pros and cons. Just when Victoria was about to conclude that I was bailing out I turned to face and said

"Okay Tory, i may not know how to play basketball as good as you, but I do know a thing or two about singing. Soo, bring it on!! "

" whatever Nerd Queen. Get ready to loose. Basketball court 3:30pm sharp. Don't be late. "

She responded and chuckled evilly before jumping down from the table leaving the remaining students in the cafeteria an excited mess. Some Juniors and seniors began talking about it as they were super excited for it's been a while since they had a basketball sing off. I groaned loudly at this I can't believe I just agreed to that, I face palmed my self. Kelvin feeling my discomfort came to comfort me assuring me I was going to win,  he assured me that he will be guiding me through out the whole thing. Few sec later the bell ran and we all left for out next classes.

3:30pm sharp

Kelvin , Lydia, Mercy Chigoze , Ebuka, Faruq and I where all on the basketball court, we were standing face to face with Victoria, her girl and a couple other boys from Chrisland knight academy.

"Ooh look who finally show up?... Ready to get your ass beaten "

"Not really, I am just wondering if there is any bucket around, so you can cry your sorry tears in when i'm through with you"

I responded and this got on her nerves. She snared at me and i only chuckled at her unfazed by her reaction as I make my nails the subject of my attention.

Literally everyone in our school and some from Chrisland knight academy came to watch. To say was I nervous was an understatement because I was almost visibly shivering but I didn't let it show. One of the boys from Chrisland knight academy interrupted

"Whao! well played Vitoria, buuuut you've lost before the game even began... if you think, we are going to let a back stabbing son of a bitch be on our team, then.. think again."

He said Chuckling throwing both me and Victoria off our game, she stared at him in shock and disbelief . I almost laughed out loud if not for the uncomfortable situation I was in as well.

"Are you girls up for a game or you're just going to accept defeat"

He told one of classmates who was part of the audience to cue the music which I immediately recognized as Night Fall from Descendants 3. Thank God for family movies i thought. Victoria and her girls Tamara and Amara had to team up with us Kelvin lyida and I much to their dismay. the song came in full blast 5 sec latter and we all sang along while we played basketball.

I sang Mal's part

While our audience who were sited on the benchers took the Chorus of the song.

the song ended the same time with the game and Victory was ours. We beat them hands down 10 to 50 with me making half of the basket out of the 50. Maybe I'm not as bad as I thought I was at basketball. I guess I  just needed a little motivation I thought after a while of  standing next to Victoria in an awkward silence I said. 

"I gotta say, we do make a pretty good team don't you"

"Not a chance"

She scoffed andresponded before her and her girls walked off leaving me  and my friends in the basketball court.
