THE BLONDE GLARED IN CONFUSION AT HER BEST FRIEND, "Wait a second Luciana, you're telling me that you got Peter to audition for the musical?" She said in disbelief as she watched her best friend exchange her math book with her chemistry one from her locker.

"Yes, Sophia." Luciana sighed, turning to face her best friend. "For the thousandth time, I got him to audition with me so it could keep him distracted from the whole MJ situation." She reminded her.

"Oh," Sophia said simply as the information finally sunk in, "Oh... yikes. Is he okay?"

Luciana shrugged, "For now, yeah."

"Hello, my beautiful friends."

"Hey, Ned." The girls said in unison.

"Did you hear about Peter trying out for the musical?" Ned asked in disbelief.

"It's weird right?" Sophia answered.

Luciana rolled her eyes playfully, "I'm the one who suggested he try out."

Ned shook his head, "That's a bad idea, Luce."

"Is not."

"It sort of is."

"It is a bad idea."

"What's a bad idea?"

"You trying out for the school's musical," Ned answered Peter.

Luciana scoffed, "It is not. It's just... not in Peter's element."

"Which makes it a bad idea," Ned stated.

"Would you stop," Luciana glared at Ned before looking over at Peter. "Don't listen to him. It's gonna be fun."

Peter nodded slowly, "I'm fully trusting you on this, Luna." He said as the bell rang.

"Well, good luck at auditions or tryouts I guess." Ned patted Peter on the shoulder before leaving.

"Good luck, love you guys." Sophia smiled, giving Peter and Luciana a tight group hug before catching up with Ned.

Luciana smiled at Peter, "You ready?"

Peter sighed, "Ready as I'll ever be."

------

When Peter and Luciana entered the auditorium where auditions were being held they watched as a group of students were doing dance warm-ups. Luciana smiled in awe as Peter's eyes widened in slight fear. "They look amazing," Luciana spoke softly.

Peter nodded in silence, too choked up to say anything.

Luciana turned to face Peter, "Hey, everything's gonna be okay. We can just audition for a small role or just be a part of the crew." She reassured him.

"Right, yeah." He nodded as he tried to swallow the lump in his throat. He didn't understand why he was getting nervous. Maybe because he felt intimidated by the talented people in the room and he's just in here auditioning with his best friend because he needed a distraction from his break up with MJ. "Who are you auditioning for?" He asked looking down at the excited brunette next to him.

"I'm thinking of auditioning for Kelsi." She gave a nervous smile.

Peter shook his head, "You're more of a Gabriella." He mumbled which caused her to look up at him in confusion, "I just mean that you shouldn't sell yourself out so short. Go big or go home, right?"

Now it was Luciana's turn to be nervous, she wiped her sweaty palms against her legs as she nodded. "You're right. Go big or go home." She mumbled to herself encouragingly. "Who are you auditioning for?" She turned to face around, remembering that Peter probably had no idea what he was gonna do.

"I, uh, maybe that one guy... what was his name? Uh... Jason- Jason, right?"

"Jason Cross?" She laughed warmly at the way his nose scrunched up, "I think that's great, especially with the whole spidey business." She whispered.

"Okay people! That was warm-ups." The teacher called out for a line-up.

"That was pretty intense for warm-ups, don't you think?" Peter breathed out.

"Intense for non-dancers, I guess." Luciana shrugged, unbothered by the warm-ups.

They lined up as the teacher assigned out roles that seemed fitting in her eyes to each student. The lady stopped at Luciana, holding her finger up as she tried to get a read on the student. "She's the one. Ms. Montez, Gabriella." She snapped whilst a boy behind her hurried to hand Luciana her script. The lady then stopped at Peter, "Troy."

"Uh, actually I wanted Jason." He corrected her softly.

This threw the teacher by surprise, "Are you sure?" She asked as Peter nodded without hesitation, causing her to sigh in slight disappointment. "If you insist." She answered as the boy behind her handed his script.

Luciana let out a heavy sigh as Peter gave her a small nudge, "I told you that you were a Gabriella."

"Oh hush." She pushed him away playfully.

As time went on, it was finally time to audition for the musical. Luciana gave Peter a supportive thumbs-up as he walked up the stage to act out his part.

When it was Luciana's turn to go on stage, Peter only paid attention to her. As if she was the only one in the room. The only one who shined the brightest. His smile grew wide as he noticed how passionate she was about this.

"That was lovely, thank you." The lady smiled, calling out for the next person.

Luciana walked off stage, sitting next to Peter. "I can't believe I did that."

"What are you talking about. You were amazing up there." He said softly.

"You're just saying that." She brushed his comment off.

Peter opened his mouth to say something, deciding against it as his attention turned back towards the other students.

------

Luciana grabbed a hold of Peter's hand, dragging him along with her to go see the casting list. She pushed her small frame through the crowd, seeing the piece of paper that was pinned against the wall. Her eyes widened in shock as she walked back towards Peter.

"Who did you get?" Peter asked in concern.

"I got the part, but uh, Pete... you got Troy." She mumbled.

"So much for a small role."

"Hey, small role or not. Miss Jenn saw potential in you, that's a good thing."

"I guess so, but wouldn't that be weird though? Y'know, us as Gabriella and Troy?" He asked as his brows furrowed.

Luciana shrugged, "Should it?" She pressed further.

"Sort of, yeah. We're best friends."

Luciana nodded slowly, "Right." She cleared her throat, "I mean, I guess you could talk to Miss
Jenn about it." She suggested as she felt someone tap on her shoulder.

"I, uh, don't mean to interrupt," The curly brown-haired boy pointed between her and Peter, "but, uh, you must be Gabriella and Troy, right?" He asked.

"She's Gabriella, I'm not gonna be Troy," Peter answered.

"Oh, well, I guess if you're not Troy then I am." The other boy scratched the back of his neck nervously, "I'm Ricky, I'm Troy's understudy." He introduced himself to Luciana.

"Luciana." She smiled lightly.

"Peter." He said monotonously.

"I didn't mean to overstep or anything if you guys are dating." Ricky quickly apologized taking note of the way Peter was slightly glaring at him.

Luciana shook her head, "Oh, we're not- we're just friends." She gave Ricky a tight-lipped smile.

Ricky nodded in slight relief as he noticed the way Peter relaxed from Luciana's comment. He surely didn't want to get punched in the face for stealing someone's girlfriend.

"Well, it was nice to meet you Ryan, but I got somewhere I need to be," Peter said giving him a fake polite smile.

"It's Ricky."

"That's what I said..."

Luciana rolled her eyes, "Bye Ricky, I'll see you tomorrow." She gave him a soft smile as she pushed Peter away from the conversation with Ricky. "I don't know what just happened back there, but you better be nice tomorrow. I'm going home."

"I'll walk-"

"No, Pete. My dad's picking me up." She told him. "You have other things to do anyway, so it's fine." She hinted about his patrol night.

He nodded, feeling a bit guilty. "Right."

Luciana gave him a small nod, "Be careful out there, Pete." She said softly.

"Will do." He answered as he watched her walk out the double doors of the high school. He glanced over the curly brown-haired kid, slightly glaring at him in both annoyance and confusion.

Peter didn't understand why he didn't like the guy, he just knew he did. The only reason for that being is that he's protective over Luciana. He knew that he didn't feel that way about her, so why should he care about if this other guy gets the lead part with her? He shouldn't care and he shouldn't be feeling this way. He knows he shouldn't.

Peter sighed, heading in the opposite direction where Luciana took off and decides to go on his night patrol thinking it would accomplish the job of distracting him from his thoughts on how he's feeling.
