𝒗. don't kiss and tell
"I'm not trying to steal your life, Sam,"
Arizona popped up from the couch when she heard the doorbell ring. She opened the door to find Miguel standing there with his sensei, Johnny Lawrence. "What's going on?" she asked, glancing between the two.
Miguel shrugged. "Let's get something to eat. Come on. I wanted you to hear this since you're Miguel's girlfriend now," Johnny said, already turning to walk back to his car.
Arizona stepped outside, closing the door behind her. "Do you know what this is about?" she asked Miguel as they walked together.
"No idea," Miguel replied, shaking his head. He opened the car door for her, and she slid into the seat, smiling up at him. Miguel joined her, and they buckled up as Johnny started the car and drove off.
The drive was filled with a mix of curiosity and nervous anticipation. Arizona watched the scenery pass by, her mind racing with possibilities of what Johnny wanted to discuss. Miguel reached over and squeezed her hand reassuringly, and she returned the gesture with a soft smile.
Eventually, they pulled up to a small diner. Johnny parked the car and led them inside, where they found a booth in the back. Johnny and Miguel ordered their food, and as they waited, Johnny leaned forward, his expression serious.
"Good, huh?" Johnny asked as the two teenagers nodded in agreement.
"The secret's the chopped onions. Sal keeps it simple. None of that veggie crap. Just a hot grill and some quality chuck," Johnny stated proudly.
Arizona cleared her throat. "I'm vegan. Hence, why I didn't order anything," she pointed out, raising an eyebrow at Johnny.
Johnny gave her a blank look. "What's vegan?"
"I don't eat meat," she stated simply.
Johnny scoffed. "What's wrong with eating meat?"
"I'm not going to argue with you on this," she said, shaking her head.
Miguel sighed, sensing the tension. "What are we doing here, Sensei?" he intervened.
Johnny looked towards the hospital across the street and then back at the couple. "You see that building over there?" he asked, gesturing towards the hospital.
Arizona nodded, following his gaze. "The hospital?"
Miguel looked puzzled. "Yeah, what about it?"
Johnny nodded solemnly. "That's where Robby was born. February 4th, 2002. It was a Monday. His mom was in labor for seventeen hours."
Arizona's eyebrows raised, her expression softening as she exchanged a glance with Miguel, who mirrored her concern. "It must've been crazy," Miguel commented gently.
Johnny stared at them for a moment, his face a mix of regret and reflection. "Yeah, I'm sure it was," he said, his voice tinged with a sadness that didn't go unnoticed.
Arizona's lips parted slightly as the realization hit her—Johnny hadn't been there for Robby's birth. She could sense the weight of his regret, the sadness in his eyes. The sad aura that surrounded him.
She reached out, placing a hand on Miguel's arm in silent support, feeling the heavy emotions lingering in the air. Johnny's vulnerability was palpable, and for a moment, the usual tough exterior he maintained seemed to crack, revealing a glimpse of the pain he carried with him.
"I wasn't there," Johnny continued, his voice low and filled with regret. "And...my mom had just died. I was a real mess. I never knew my father, so she was all I had. Next thing I know, I'm gonna be a dad. Scared the shit out of me. So, instead of being up there, welcoming him into the world...I was down here, soaking up the booze from a three-day bender, trying to get the courage to walk across the street. And I never got there."
The air was heavy with the weight of his confession. Arizona and Miguel sat in stunned silence, absorbing the gravity of Johnny's words. The usual bravado and tough exterior Johnny wore like armor had slipped away, leaving him raw and exposed. Arizona's heart ached for him, understanding the deep regret and pain he was sharing.
Miguel, too, was visibly moved, his eyes reflecting a mix of empathy and sorrow. Arizona reached out, placing a hand on Johnny's arm. "Sensei, I'm sorry," Arizona said softly, her voice full of sincerity.
Johnny nodded, swallowing hard as he composed himself. "Yeah, well...that's life, I guess. Full of regrets and missed chances." He looked at them both, a hint of determination returning to his eyes. "But that's why I wanted to bring you here. To remind you that it's never too late to do the right thing. To be there for the people you care about."
Arizona nodded, feeling a renewed respect for Johnny. Despite his flaws and mistakes, he was trying to make amends, to guide Miguel and herself in a way he wished someone had done for him. She smiled softly, reaching out to squeeze Miguel's hand, a silent promise that they would face their challenges together.
Miguel nodded, his expression resolute. "Thanks, Sensei. We'll make sure we don't repeat the same mistakes."
Johnny gave a small, appreciative smile. "That's all I can hope for."
Johnny sighed deeply, his voice cracking with emotion. "I failed my kid on his very first day in this world, and I've been failing him every day since."
Miguel shifted uncomfortably. "Sensei, this personal stuff..." he trailed off, glancing at Arizona, who nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, you don't have to tell us. Do you want some lavender oil?" Arizona asked, her expression full of concern.
"No, I..." Johnny paused, struggling to compose himself. "I should've told the two of you a long time ago. It's one of the most painful things in my life." He exhaled shakily, then continued, "But one of the best things has been teaching you, Miguel. And Arizona, you always try to help out, even when it annoys me. But your spirit always makes me... feel complete. You guys are special. And I want you to know, no matter what happens, I promise I'll always be on your side, and I'll always have your best interests at heart."
Arizona and Miguel exchanged a look, both deeply moved by Johnny's heartfelt confession. Miguel stepped forward and placed a reassuring hand on Johnny's shoulder. "Thank you, Sensei. That means a lot."
Arizona nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Yeah, thank you, Johnny. We're here for you too."
Arizona's phone chimed, breaking the solemn moment. She picked it up and glanced at the screen. "Sorry, Johnny," she trailed off, her eyes scanning the message. "It's Aisha."
Johnny nodded, giving her the go-ahead. "Go ahead, read it."
Aisha: miyagi-do's is doing a demo at valley fest! we need to fight back.
"What is it?" Miguel asked, noticing Arizona looking up from her phone with a surprised expression.
"She heard that Miyagi-Do is planning some kind of demonstration at Valley Fest," Arizona explained, her tone a mix of curiosity and concern.
Johnny, who had been lounging casually, suddenly sat up straight, his eyes gleaming with a spark of inspiration. "Oh, they are, huh?" he huffed, a determined edge creeping into his voice.
Arizona and Miguel walk into her house, the door closing softly behind them. The room is warm and cozy, filled with the soft glow of evening light. They set their bags down, Arizona glancing at Miguel with a spark in her eye.
Arizona had an idea. She smiled and turned to Miguel, who was rummaging through her fridge for a bottle of Coke.
"Miguel, I have an idea. You know how Johnny wants to make a statement at Valley Fest?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Miguel smirked, intrigued. "Yeah, what do you have in mind?"
Arizona led him to the center of the room, pushing the coffee table aside to create space. "We could do a stunt," she suggested. "How about we do a high-flying kick sequence? We could choreograph it to music, add some flips and spins for flair. It would be epic. And at the end of the performance, we'll do something crazy?"
Miguel's grin widened as he stepped closer to her, sharing in her enthusiasm. "I love it. Let's practice it right now."
They positioned themselves, facing each other, ready to begin practicing the stunt.
"Okay, let's start with a roundhouse kick combo. I'll go high, you go low," she instructed, her voice brimming with determination.
Miguel nodded, understanding the plan, and they began practicing the sequence. Their movements were fluid and precise as they executed the kicks. Arizona initiated with a high roundhouse kick, seamlessly followed by Miguel's low sweep kick, their synchronization impeccable.
They continue practicing, adding more elements to the sequence, each move executed with precision and power. As they practice, their chemistry becomes undeniable, their movements flowing effortlessly together.
They share a brief moment of eye contact, a spark of something more lingering between them. Without thinking, Miguel leans in, and Arizona meets him halfway. Their lips meet in a soft, electrifying kiss, the intensity of their connection igniting a fire within them both. They pull back, their hearts racing, but their smiles wide.
Arizona and Miguel stared at each other for a moment, the realization sinking in that they had just kissed. As they stood there, the atmosphere between them shifted, the boundary between their fake relationship and genuine feelings becoming blurred.
"I... Miguel?" Arizona called out, her voice tinged with uncertainty, as he turned to leave her house. "Where are you going?"
Miguel hesitated, torn between his emotions and the facade they had constructed. Without a word, he walked out, leaving Arizona standing there, feeling a mix of confusion and disappointment. She blew a raspberry in frustration and sighed, unsure of where they stood now.
Arizona was late to Valley Fest, her nerves getting the best of her as she anxiously paced around her room for three hours, overthinking and dreading being in a crowd of people. But eventually, she mustered the courage and made her way to the event.
When she arrived, Cobra Kai was already in the midst of their performance. Arizona pushed through the crowd, determined to join them, and stopped when she reached the front, standing beside Moon and Demetri.
"Hey, Moonsie," Arizona greeted, prompting a gasp of delight from Moon, who immediately enveloped her in a hug. "Oh my gosh! Arizona, you look radiant. You're blooming with happiness," Moon exclaimed cheerfully, earning a chuckle from Arizona.
"Thanks—" Arizona began, but her words were cut off by a whistle from a boy on stage. She turned to see Miguel waving her over. With determination, Arizona ascended the steps, where Miguel took her hand.
"You still wanna do this?" Arizona shouted over the blaring music and the spectacle of stunts happening around them.
"Yeah. I'm sorry for walking out. I needed some time to think!" Miguel exclaimed, his voice tinged with regret.
Arizona nodded understandingly. "Yeah, it was a mistake. We were just caught up in the moment. Now, let's do this!" she declared, trying to inject confidence into her voice.
But Miguel frowned, his uncertainty bubbling to the surface. He wanted her, but now he worried that Arizona didn't feel the same way.
The crowd buzzes with anticipation as Arizona and Miguel take their positions on the stage, ready to showcase their martial arts skills. The music starts, and they launch into their routine with precision and power.
Arizona unleashes a series of lightning-fast punches and kicks, her movements fluid and graceful. Miguel follows suit, his strikes strong and precise. Together, they move in perfect harmony, each complementing the other's movements with seamless transitions.
As they continue their routine, they engage in a dynamic display of offensive karate techniques. Arizona delivers a spinning back kick, knocking down an imaginary opponent, while Miguel follows up with a powerful roundhouse kick, demonstrating his strength and agility.
The crowd watches in awe as Arizona and Miguel execute a series of intricate combinations, their speed and accuracy leaving them breathless. They weave in and out of each other's space, their movements choreographed to perfection.
With each strike and block, Arizona and Miguel captivate the audience, their energy and intensity palpable. The crowd cheers them on, their enthusiasm fueling Arizona and Miguel's determination to give it their all.
As they reach the climax of their routine, Arizona and Miguel unleash a final flurry of kicks and punches, their movements a blur of motion. The crowd erupts into applause as they finish their performance, their hearts pounding with adrenaline and pride.
Arizona and Miguel share a triumphant smile, knowing that they've left a lasting impression on everyone who witnessed their incredible display of skill and athleticism. As they bow to the cheering crowd, they feel a sense of accomplishment unlike anything they've ever experienced before.
As the applause reaches a crescendo, Arizona and Miguel share a knowing glance, their eyes sparkling with shared excitement and adrenaline. In a spontaneous moment of celebration, Miguel reaches out and pulls Arizona into his arms, drawing her close.
Amidst the cheering crowd, Arizona and Miguel share a brief but passionate kiss, their connection undeniable. For a fleeting moment, time seems to stand still as they revel in the warmth of each other's embrace.
As they pull away, their faces flushed with emotion, Arizona and Miguel exchange a tender smile, their hearts beating in sync. In that moment, amidst the chaos and excitement of Valley Fest, they share a silent promise of a future filled with adventure, friendship, and love.
Once Arizona stepped off stage, she spotted her brother waiting for her by the rides. She exchanged a brief hug with Miguel before attempting to make her way over to her family. However, her path was obstructed by Sam, who stepped in front of her with a sneer on her face.
"Are you trying to steal my life, Alvarez?" Sam spat out, her tone dripping with hostility.
Arizona furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "I don't know what you mean, Sam," she replied, exhaling deeply.
Sam continued to glare at her. "You're dating my ex-boyfriend now," she accused, crossing her arms defensively.
Arizona scoffed, feeling her patience wearing thin. "Well, I knew him before you. I'm not trying to steal your life, Sam," she retorted, brushing past her. Before she could walk away completely, she turned back to face Sam.
"Learn that not everything needs to be about you," she shot back, her glare matching Sam's intensity, before finally making her way over to her brother.
"Hey, bro. What are you doing here?" she asked, ruffling his hair playfully. However, her playful demeanor shifted as she noticed the tears glistening in his eyes.
"What's wrong?" she inquired, concern lacing her voice.
Arizona sped home with her brother in the car, a whirlwind of emotions churning inside her. When she slammed the front door open, she was met with a surreal sight: her supposed-dad sitting on the couch.
Her dad was dead. How could he be here?
"Dad?" Arizona whispered in disbelief, her eyes wide as she stared directly at him.
"Hi, sugarbean," he greeted with a warm smile, his presence defying all logic and reason.
ASH SPEAKS!
