"And when you speak my name, I'd like you to explain the lies you told me. That's why I walked away."
REMEMBER - JHENE AIKO 1:34
Three Days Later | 06/12/21
"It's off 6th and Newman." Von's friend, Javier, told him through the phone.
"Ight. I'm not gone remember that so just text me the address. And I 'preciate it Javi." He said, chuckling as he moved Asian's-an acquaintance of his-hand from the waistband of his jeans.
"No problem. Hope it works out for you my brotha'." Javier replied, before ending the call.
"Move girl." He moved her hand once more, and she laughed, watching as he stood from her bed.
"You leaving foreal? You ain't even gone fuck me?" She tilted her head to the side, following him with her eyes.
"Nah. I'a be back lata' if I'm in the mood for it." He told her, sliding his feet into his balenciaga sneakers.
"Where are you going?" She asked, and he looked up from tying his shoe, his eyebrow raised in a questioning manner.
"Sorry." She muttered, rolling her eyes once he looked away.
"Questioning me like you my bitch or some." He chuckled, and she smacked her lips.
"I told you don't call me that." She stale faced him, sitting up in her bed.
"I ain't mean it in that way." He shrugged, grabbing his hoodie and pulling it on.
"Sure you didn't. Anyways, you wanna pay for my hair to get done?" She asked, an innocent smile on her face.
"How much is it?" He pulled a wad of cash from his pocket, and her smile widened.
"Two thousand." She answered, and he pulled off some bills from the stack, passing it to her.
She smiled, stuffing it into her purse, and he shook his head at how he didn't even get so much as a simple 'thank you'.
"Bye Misharron." He left her room, afterwards leaving her house. He put the wad of cash in his center console, glancing at his phone as he drove.
He saw that Javier had sent him the address to Jayda's house, and he could feel his stomach turn in nervousness as he entered in on his gps.
He knew that it was wrong to just show up unannounced to her house, but he didn't even know what to say if he'd just texted her on Instagram or something.
She wasn't the little girl that he knew three years ago, she was a grown woman now, and he didn't know how she'd react. He'd saw from her Instagram-that had over a million followers-that she was now a social media influencer.
He didn't really understand how that worked, or how she'd gained such a large amount just by posting on social media, nor how she was damn near a celebrity and he hadn't heard of her.
So many thoughts racked his brain as he made his way to the address, hoping this went in his favor at least a little bit.
His thoughts ceased as he pulled up the address, parking on the side street. He could see an all black Range Rover, an all black G Wagon, as well as an orange Lamborghini Urus.
"Damn." He muttered, all three of them being flashy cars. She was making big money; that made him proud, and also regretful.
Emerging from his car, he wiped his sweaty palms down his black jeans, making his way towards the house. He didn't give himself a chance to back out of it, knocking on the door.
He stepped back, internally panicking as he thought about every possible outcome of this situation. That didn't last long, because soon he could hear the locks beginning to turn.
"Toosii?" Von frowned once the door opened, and Toosii matched his confused frown.
"Von? Nigga what the hell, wassup?" He laughed, dapping him up, and Von returned it.
Von had been familiar with Toosii for few months now, both of them being in the music industry. He was cool, but they'd only hung out maybe three times, coincidentally at concerts together.
"What you doing here? Nigga how you get this address?" Toosii held a confused look on his face, and Von did as well.
"I was looking f-."
"Baby who was it?" Jayda's voice could be heard, before her frame appeared, and she froze in place after laying eyes on Dayvon.
"Jayda-." Von's tone softened, about to say something else, but cut himself off, almost star struck.
"Nana can you g-can you give me a minute please?" Jayda cleared her throat after her voice had cracked, and Toosii looked down at her, before back at Von.
"Please." She turned her head to look at him, and he nodded, walking away from the door, towards the back of the house.
"I'm sorry fat mama. I d-." He started, and she cut him off.
"You have so much fucking nerve showing up to my damn house. How did you get my address?" She wiped under her eyes before her tears could fall. She was completely caught off guard.
"Jayda I'm sorry. I regret leaving you every single day. The months before that, all the shit I put you through, I'm so sorry. I was young and so fucking dumb, I fell in with the wrong crowd and shit. I lost sight of what was in front of me."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, okay? I don't know how to make that shit up, I'll figure something out though. I'm sorry. I miss you so much. You so beautiful fats." He told her, his tone remaining soft. He didn't even know how he felt in this moment. It didn't feel real seeing her in front of him.
Jayda clenched her jaw, holding back the tears that she wanted to let fall so bad. She'd repeatedly told herself since the day that he left her, that she would never allow him-or any other man, to see her so vulnerable ever again.
"I don't want your sorry. If you come to my house again, I'll call the police on you. Go home." She muttered, about to close the door.
"Mommy my juice wasted." A small voice said from the other side of the door and Von placed his foot in the door to stop her from closing it.
"You had my son and didn't tell me Jayda?" He slightly furrowed his eyebrows, and she looked up to meet his eyes.
"No, go to hell." She rolled her eyes, about to press harder on the door, and Von grabbed it, pushing it all the way open.
His eyes dropped to the same little boy that he'd saw posted on her page, and the boy looked up at him with a small frown on his face.
He wrapped his arms around Jayda's leg, and Von was almost frozen in place, keeping his eyes on him. He resembled Von a lot.
"Stop it Dayvon." Jayda grabbed ahold of her door, and he switched his attention over to her.
"You kept my baby from me Jayda?" He was no longer nervous, instead becoming more and more upset by the minute.
"He's not your fucking k-."
"Jayda he got my whole fucking face! You gone sit up here and lie after keeping the fucking secret for three years?!" He mugged her, and she picked her son up who had begun to lightly whine.
"I don't owe you shit. Die." She slammed her door in his face, turning her locks. Von ran his hand down his face in frustration, refraining from punching through her door.
"Jayda you can't keep my fucking son from me man. That shit not fair. What I did was wrong and I'm here to fix it. That's my son ma." His voice tiredly rasped, and Jayda let the tears fall from her eyes, currently sitting on the floor in front of her door with her son in her arms.
"You okay mommy?" He asked, wiping her face, and Von ran his fingers through his dreads, able to hear his small voice.
"Jayda, please. He deserves to know who I am. I ain't no crash dummy fats, I'a be here for him. I'll be here for him the way I should've been with you. That's my fucking kid Jayda, please." He leaned his head on the door, and Jayda quietly sniffed, looking at her son.
"Go play the game with Nana baby." She kissed his forehead, and he nodded, running off.
"I ain't even know about him Jay. This shit not fair man, let me be here. That's my whole fucking kid bra." He repeatedly expressed, still unable to believe that he had a son.
"Get away from my house." She spoke above her natural tone so that he could hear her.
"Jayda for what? Why can't I have that fucking chance with my son?!"
"Stop saying your son because you have never been a fucking father to him!" She swung her door back open, fed up with him repeating the same line.
"You didn't give me the fucking choice!" He frowned at her as she stepped out of her house, closing her door behind her.
"No, you didn't even let me tell you! You fucking left me high and dry Dayvon! I haven't heard from you in three fucking years and now you popping up worried about my kid?! He's mine! This is not your child!" She yelled, gesturing with her hands.
"I didn't fucking know that you were pregnant. You didn't tell me that shit Jayda I wouldn't abandon my fucking kid."
"But you'd abandon his mom right?" She met his eyes, and his mug disappeared, his expression softening.
"I was on my dick man. I was a kid Jay." He softened his tone as well, searching over her face.
"You?! Dayvon I was 18! You left me by myself at 18." She frowned, her head slightly jerking her head back.
"Jayda what do you want me to say?"
"Nothing. I don't even know why I'm talking to you right now." She muttered, turning to walk in her house, and he grabbed her arm. Jayda slapped him hard across his face, and his jaw clenched, keeping his eyes on her.
"Even after all you did to me, I still stayed. I stayed through every fucking thing you put me through, and you left me as soon as you got the chance. I never did you wrong! I would've never ever put you through the shit you put me through." She pushed his chest with each sentence, and he let her.
"You left me by myself! You told me that even when shit got hard you would never leave, and you fucking lied to me!" Tears were now streaming down her face, and his arms wrapped around her, making her break down.
"You left me Cyncere." She cried, wrapping her arms around his neck, and he held her tight, burying his face in her neck, a few lone tears falling from his eyes.
She couldn't believe that he was in front of her right now. After all the hurt he'd caused her, he still held the biggest place in her heart. She hated that.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry JJ. I'm sorry." He kept repeating to her, soothingly rubbing her back as they held one another.
"Jayda." Toosii's voice called from the door, and she immediately pulled back from Von, turning to look at him, seeing him with her son in his arms, almost asleep on his chest.
"Here I come baby." She mumbled, and he nodded, glancing at Von, before walking back in the house.
"I have to g-."
"You got that nigga playing daddy to my son Jayda?" A small frown etched across his face, looking down at her once she tried to pull away from his grip.
"Stop calling him your damn s-." She started, being cut off by him once more.
"What you mean? He is my son. You just ain't give me the fucking chance to be a daddy. Quit acting like you gave me the option because you didn't." His frown deepened, becoming frustrated as she tried to play victim.
"Because you left me! You wasn't ready to be a damn father Cyncere. You couldn't even take care of yourself, you wouldn't have been able to take care of my son!" She turned to walk off, and he grabbed her arm again.
"Just t-Jayda just tell me his name? At least? Tell me my baby name." He searched over her expression, and she avoided his gaze.
"Cyncere. Cyncere Bennett." She mumbled, and his heart melted, wrapping his arms around her again.
"I'm so sorry. I'm here now Jay." His voice rasped out, his arms around her body, and hers remained at her side.
"I didn't ask for you to come back. Go home Dayvon." She pulled out of his grip, and he walked around her, blocking the path to her door, and she frowned.
"What do you want me to do Jayda? I'm not asking you to forgive me 'cause I know I don't deserve that b-my kid man. You gone keep him from me after I'm asking for you to let me be here?" He asked, frowning as well.
"I don't know who you are anymore Von. And the last months that I did know you, I couldn't recognize you. I'm not letting my baby around a stranger. Move out of my way." She mumbled, pushing him to the side, then walking past him.
"Can I just see him real quick? Youn gotta let him talk to me, just let me see him." He pleaded, and she held on to her door knob for a few seconds, before sighing.
She walked in her house, closing the door behind her, seeing Toosii laying with Cyncere on the couch, watching the Bee Movie.
"Mommy you ok?" He asked again as she picked him up, and she nodded her head, chuckling.
"Jayda.." Nau'Jour trailed off, a curious look on his face, and she gave him a soft smile.
"I'm fine. Just give me a minute." She leaned down, and he pressed his lips against hers a few times, before she stood back upright.
She headed for the door, walking back outside and closing it behind her. Von's heart melted, watching her slowly approach him.
"Papa, can you say hi t-to my friend?" She paused, not knowing how to address Von.
Cyncere waved at Von, and Von wiped the tear that fell from his eye, sighing to himself.
"Can I hold him?" He asked, meeting her eyes, and a small frown placed on her face. She looked at Cyncere, and he rubbed over her cheek, making her smile.
She gave him to Von, and Cyncere held around his neck to stabilize himself, a natural frown on his face. Jayda shook her head, seeing an identical frown resting on Von's.
"Wassup lil man? What yo name is?" He asked, though he already knew. Cyncere didn't respond, looking over at Jayda with a pout.
"It's okay papa." She reassured, and he turned back to face Von.
"Cyn." He mumbled, picking at Von's long twisted dread.
"I like that name. How old are you?" He asked, and Cyncere held up two fingers.
"He'll be three soon?" He looked over at Jayda, who nodded her head.
"December 25th." She avoided his gaze, and his heart swelled. Christmas was always him and Jayda's favorite holiday, and it was crazy that their son was born on the same day.
Jayda watched as Von and Cyncere had a conversation, letting him hold him for about a good twenty minutes; Cyn ending up falling asleep in his arms.
Von left a soft kiss on his cheek, already obsessed with the kid that he created. He couldn't believe that he had a whole child.
"Thank you." He mumbled to Jayda after passing Cyncere back to her, and she waved it off, letting Cyn wrap his arms around her neck.
"Can I g-uh, can I get your number or something? So that I could maybe see him again, if that's okay with you?" He asked, unsure of why he was nervous, hoping she'd agree.
Jayda looked at her son, before back over at him, pondering her answer, "My Instagram is thejaydabennett." She hesitantly responded. It was definitely time for a username change.
"Okay. Maybe I can take y'all out for lunch tomorrow? Or whenever you're free. Pizza still your favorite?" He asked, and she wanted to smile, but she refrained from doing so.
"No, it isn't.. but I have to check to see if I'm free tomorrow. I'll let you know. Bye Dayvon." She met his eyes for a few seconds, before turning and walking in her house.
"Bye Jayda." He mumbled after the door had shut, running his hand down his face.
