Rohit and Ritika stood at the entrance of “Nirva”. The could feel their heartbeat in their throat.
The scenario of Nirva was totally opposite from what they have thought it would be throughout the bus journey.
The villages was very small, from the entryway they could see, men's sat circling around fire warming themselves, kids were playing around and women's were sat around gossiping in themselves.
House and roads were decorated with light, flowers and diyas, which reminded Rohit about diwali which he celebrate years ago.
"Woah!... it's not definitely what we thought, isn't it.", Rohit said without even turning towards Ritika, he was looking at the site.
Ritika nodded gulping hard, words weren't coming out from her mouth, she was too stunned speak.
Inside the village, a old man's gaze went to them, he saw a boy and a girl standing outside, they weren't someone from the village he was sure, their outfits and appearance was totally different.
"Hey who standing there?",he inquired.
Listen him every one stopped their conversation and all, their head shot up to the man and after following his gaze, their eyes went to the entryway.
Mens brows furrowed, womens gasped and children stood at their place only.
Listening him Rohit and Ritika's eyes widened and after seeing their reactions Ritika's heart sank. But Rohit... Rohit was little scared, but he knew his charm would sweep everyone.
"I told you..I told you...I TOLD YOU.. this isn't working, now..now they I don't what will they do us, they look angry....they will punish us, maybe worst, god god god..",she said her words shuttering and her voice was only audible to Rohit.
"Arey, relax why always jump on the worst conclusion?",he said calming her even tho he was little nervous.
Her head shot up hearing him, "jumping on a conclusion? This was worst plan ever and now I am dead sure, it will lead us the worst, you don't-",she said shaking her head but she was cutted by that man who saw.
"You two come here.",he yelled ordering them.
They both looked at each other, Rohit nodded in reassurance that they should go but Ritika was shaking her head in no. But he didn't listen her and dragged her with him, while she was muttered,"I'll kill you, I'll kill you... They'll kill us."
They stood infront of the villagers, giving them looks, whispers were ringing in the air. The piercing gaze of the villagers tearing them.
The old man who called them, eyed them from their face to toe, his thick moustache twitching as he spoke,"Who are you, what are you doing here?"
His voice was heavy which sends shivers through their spine. Ritika and Rohit looked at each other by the corner of their eyes.
Gulping Rohit rose a step, Ritika also followed him, clearing his throat Rohit said,"Kaka..I am Rohit.. Rohit Sharma and she's Ritika...Ritika...",he trailed as looking at her asking for her surname.
She nodded, stepping in she said,"Ritika Sajdeh."
The old man squinted his eyes,"And what are you both doing here?",he said arching a brow.
They both didn't knew what to say so the first idea which came in Rohit's mind he blurted out it.
"Kaka..vo hum..hum shadi shuda hai.",he told them without looking at Ritika. Hearing him she turned to him being confused.
"Kya?!!",she yelled and he turned his face slightly asking her to continue it, she realises nodding.
"Haan kaka vo..humne bhag ke shadi ki hai.",she said without thinking, Rohit turned to her screaming,"kya?!!"
The villagers were confused with their behaviour, their brow furrowing, the old man interrupted again,"what you both are saying, we are not able to understand."
They turned to the villagers, and now both of them knew that this will be the only plan which will help them, they decided to continue the plan.
Rohit stepped again,"kaka we are married each other against of our families will, and now they are chasing us if they'll finds us they will kill us, you don't know they are very dangerous."
Rohit tried to explain even (he didn't even knew what he was saying), Ritika nodding to every words of him. But this made the villagers more confused. In between of the villagers a old lady with sharp eyes asked,"but why your family isn't approving you both, what's the problem."
Rohit was too stunned to speak now, he wasn't able to make a scenario, seeing Rohit not able to tell a thing, Ritika decided to step in.
"Actually our family..",she managed a fake tear(Rohit was looking at her drama with wide eyes) but she countinued," Our families is sore enemy of each, they couldn't enjoy a sight of each other, they are being enemies from ages."
"We didn't knew that, we both met the college and as we used to be in a hostel we didn't knew about our families enmity, we both met there and fell in love."
She was wiping her tears (fake) and was sobbing in middle, villager's face softened hearing her. She then excused herself as she couldn't make up more stories pushing Rohit front.
Rohit managed to compose himself and said,"and after when they got to know about us they tried to separate us, but we didn't separate and we were so fed up with this so we decided to run away."
"And I knew that running with a maiden girl wouldn't be appropriate, so we got married.", the sincerity in his voice made villagers to believe them.
"But why you both came here, I hope you both knows about our place.",the old man asked again.
Rohit managed to reply again,"Actually we decided that we'll go England, there's a friend of mine who will help us settling there. But...but Ritika's passport was making fuss."
"My friend Virat said he will make this fine, but it will take time about two or three weeks, so he asked us to hide somewhere.",his stories were actually believable.
"And Nirva se aachi aur koi jagah hamare dimag mein hi nahi aayi.",he said and turned to Ritika who nodded aggressively.
The womens face softened, one of them made her way to that old man, and she talks with him for a minute.
Rohit and Ritika were looking at them hoping that they would agree, Ritika crossed her fingers praying to the God.
The old kaka nodded and turned to them, it was some kind of relief sign for them.
"Ok we are ready to help you both, but only till 2 weeks, after then you both wouldn't be able to live here."
They both didn't waste any time and rushed to their feets, they both stood up joining their hands in respect.
"Thank you so so much Kaka.", Rohit said expressing his gratitude.
"Yes and thank you too, kaki, you helped us and...and we both promise we will make sure our exit before two weeks, thank you.",she said turning over the women still joining her hands.
The lady smiled and her hand lovingly over Ritika's chin,"don't worry, ab jab tak tum dono yaha ho, surakshit ho.",Ritika smiled over her words.
The lady's smile faded a little as she look little down to Ritika's neck,"You aren't wearing Mangalsutra?",she asked frowning a little.
Ritika gulped and looked at her,"vo..vo while we were running back, I put the Mangalsutra in my bag, but don't know how, it fell somewhere, soo...I mean I lost it.",she said little shattering while looking down.
The lady smiled and said,"don't worry, we'll give you the new one. Don't be sad.".
Ritika shot her head up listening her, tears brimming in her eyes, real and geniune one.
"Acha chalo chalo, we'll show you the house.",the lady said grabbing them by their hands and dragged them towards a particular place.
The house was simple and was giving homely vibes, they both stood inside the entrance as the people just left them telling everything, they should know.
They had a little big hall, a bedroom, kitchen and a small garden outside. It was simply decorated with painted walls, paintings and all.
It was the sarpanch's house, they left as they moved to a big home but they kept this one as it is, it wasn't feeling like this home was closed for a month.
After taking look of everything they headed to the bedroom, there was a single bed. With a side table and a dressing table kept few inches away.
Ritika was first one to head to the washroom for freshing up,she asked him and he nodded. After a while, when she came back Rohit went to the washroom.
Ritika sat on the bed, taking out few things from her bag which she needed right now. She took her phone and quickly texted her close friend telling her the situation in short and asking her to cover up the aftermath.
The network was very slow, she somehow managed to send it and turned off her phone just after the text was sent.
In while Rohit came, he looked very serious and that made Ritika little off as, as much she knew him, he never gets this serious.
"How are we going to sleep?",he asked very seriously and Ritika was taken back, he was this serious about this. Though question was genuine, but she could help but think about this.
He tsked and said, "okay fine I'll sleep down-" she cutted him who was in verge of yawning.
"No need, we have enough space just put some pillows in middle.", she said calmly.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I am. Now come and sleep, I am sleeping, bohat neend aa rahi hai mujhe.", she said as she made the pillow wall and then laid down on bed as she put the blanket on her. Covering herself, she isn't able to sleep without covering herself, she doesn't feel right.
Rohit chuckled while going towards the bed and laid on his side. And switch off the light.
The room was silent but there were many thoughts storming in their mind, which they decided to ignore, they need to sleep.
"Good night corner lover.",he said closing his eyes. While she didn't said anything but just smiled a little.
Ah what a day it was.
