"ALRIGHT, NOVA WE have pilots on their way to New York as we speak," Martin announced, sitting inside of one of the many tents at his facility. Watching over a large monitor with many other techies observing the other pilots suiting up in New Haven. "I will have a video feed from your helmet and can give you any additional info from the other pilots," Martin explained over the comms as Nova flew towards New York. "Pilots are at your disposal and will listen to your command." He added.
In the distance, a large blue beam shot from Stark Tower. Tiny figures emerged from the hole above as explosions of buildings could be seen. Nova hadn't had any other form of contact with the team since her free fall out of the Hellicarrier. The earpiece had been lost during her descent to the ground. But the sight of the figures emerging from the black hole blowing up was enough for her to know Tony was there and defending the best he could.
As she entered the city, three Chitauri crafts flew past her as they shot down on the streets below. She quickly followed in pursuit as the launchers on her shoulder came out. "What the hell are those?" Martin questioned in shock as Nova tried to wait for the moment the Chitauri stopped taking sharp turns.
"They're the Chitauri. Best you don't ask questions and let those pilots know they'll be fighting aliens." She grunted as she took a sharp turn between buildings and cut the crafts off. Hovering in the spot as she watched them quickly approach.
Three large red circles appeared around the targets. The launcher on her right shoulder shoots out three mini-missiles with a loud whistle and tracks the Chitauri targets. Blowing them up with a large explosion as they flew past Nova. Turning and watching them tumble all the way down to the ground and hit the streets below.
A sharp whistle could be heard above and when Nova looked up, she saw a Quinjet spinning out of control. One of the blades blew up and in a ball of flames. Flying towards it, she hit the bottom of the jet and began trying to hold it or to mediate the possible harsh landing to the ground. Grunting in pain as she heard the engines on her back fire louder as she used all her strength to keep it from falling to the ground. A yell fell from her lips as the engines fired even louder. The blue flames became the length of her entire body.
Looking down the street, she saw a Chitauri approaching them. So, without thinking, she extended her hand out and a large beam of orange electricity shot from her hand. Blowing the craft up and debris flying past her.
Nova continued to try and help the Quinjet have a less rough landing. But as the right wing hit a building, her momentum was lost on the jet and made her flip. She regained her balance and followed the jet as it came tumbling down to the ground. Civilians screamed and ran just in time as the jet hit the ground. The concrete sidewalk was ripped up with smoke filling the air and obscuring the vision of the jet.
Landing on the ground, Nova rushed to the jet as the hatch for the Quinjet opened. Steve rushed out with Natasha and Clint following in tow. All stopped when they saw Nova standing there with her hands on her hips. "Nova?" Steve frowned as the girl peeled her helmet off.
Tucking it under her arm as she nodded with a faint smile. "Yeah, I'm alive. Glad to see that you guys didn't get killed on Hellicarrier." She said before turning to Clint. "And I'm happy to see you alive."
Clint chuckled and nodded. "You and me both, kid."
Unexpectedly, Natasha walked forward and hugged the girl. Causing Nova's heart to stop for a brief moment before she smiled and let her arm wrap around Natasha's waist. The one thing she'd been unsure of was if Natasha was alive after the explosion in the lab. And to be honest, Natasha hadn't even passed through her thoughts until she thought she was going to die. Every little regret in her mind appeared as Natasha was all she could think about.
But seeing her alive was all Nova needed to fight. Natasha was Nova's motivation and source of guidance in these situations. If she didn't have her, the Usoro girl didn't know what she would do with herself.
"I'm glad you're okay," Natasha whispered as she pulled away. Hands lingering on the girl's sides, butterflies tickling the inside of Nova's stomach.
"You too." Nova smiled as she rubbed the woman's arm gently before her expression changed. Her head turned to Steve who stood patiently for them. "But I need you to know that APEX is sending in pilots that'll come in and help evacuate civilians. They'll be under my command, but whatever you need them to do, let me know and I'll get them to work, Cap." She promised as the soldier gave her a nod in response.
"Keep to the skies and help Tony any way you know how," He told the girl who nodded as he nodded to Natasha and Clint before pointing to Stark Tower. "We need to get back up there." They both nodded as Steve broke into a jog with Clint following in tow.
Natasha looked back at Nova and grabbed her hand. Although the fabric divided the touch, Nova could still tell the woman's hands were soft and gentle. But that wasn't all because the feeling of a chip being placed in her hand was also noticed. When Natasha let go, she looked down to see it was Athena's A.I. chip.
A smile appearing Nova's lips as she looked up at the assassin. "I had to steal that from your father. He thought you were dead so he kept it in safekeeping." She explained.
"And you didn't think I was dead?" Nova inquired teasingly as Natasha smirked.
"I know you pull yourself out of impossible situations all the time. You falling from the Hellicarrier was just another." She shrugged as Nova laughed lightly.
For years now, Natasha had seen Nova do it all. Either on a mission or in free time on the Hellicarrier. When someone should lose their cool if their engines shut down, Nova didn't break any emotions.
"Be safe," Natasha told her as the girl smiled as she slipped her helmet on. Inserting the chip into the side of her helmet to hear the sound of the A.I. booting up.
Arms held out by her side, her lips widened in a smirk. "Aren't I always?" She quipped before her jet engines switched on and she flew away.
"Athena reporting for-" The AI cut herself off. "Nova, where am I?" Athena questioned as the pilot flew between two narrow buildings and shot her electricity into a thin line. Two Chitauri crafts flew right into it and blew them up. "You are in a new storage space, Athena. How do you like it?" Nova smiled as the A.I. hummed in response.
"Very...big. I like it."
"That's great, but I need you to get a message to Zeus and relay it to Cooper. Tell him that I have APEX pilots coming in to assist us." She told the A.I.
"Understood, Nova. Relaying message now."
Flying above the buildings that overlooked the city of New York, she took aim toward the black hole. Watching her hud light up with multiple red dots surrounding Chitauri crafts coming from the hole. Missiles emerged from her launchers and raced through the air. Explosions lit up the sky and blew up any Chitauri near the ones that had been targeted.
This type of situation had never been something Nova would've ever expected. Sure, dog fights with enemy terrorists; a piece of cake. That was something she was used to. Seeing aliens flying out of a hole in the sky from deep space? She shouldn't be able to conjure up a sentence about how crazy it is. But it may just be her fight or flight reaction as she wasn't giving herself time to think; only to act.
And that was what happened when she heard the sound of a loud roar from the black hole. Watching in horror as a large Chitauri beast emerges from the hole. There was no way Nova could even describe it. "Athena, patch me through to the team," Nova mumbled, continuing to watch the large monster fly down to Grand Central Terminal. Destroying the statue sat on the top of the building with one of its fins.
On the underbelly of the monster, Chitauri were shot out from beneath it with chords that detached from them as they attached to buildings. Some climbed down or some were launched through the windows where the sound of blasting could be heard.
"Stark, are you seeing this?" Steve asked.
"Seeing. Still working on believing," the billionaire stated. "Where's Banner? Has he shown up yet?" Tony questioned as he followed the large creature.
"Banner?" Steve frowned.
"Just keep me posted," Tony told the man before muting himself.
Nova began flying back down through the city, destroying any Chitauri that came in her path. Hating the fact that every time she looked down at the streets, she either saw bodies that had been caught in the explosions and died. Or seeing people running from the Chitauri that continued to threaten their lives. All of it angered Nova to the point that if Thor gave her 10 minutes with Loki, she'd beat the living shit out of him. Demigod or not.
"Nova, do you know when those pilots will be coming in?" Steve questioned as the girl came to a halt.
"I don't know. I'm still waiting to be told." She announced.
But the sound of explosions behind her got her attention. Turning to see 11 figures flying through the sky. Missiles coming from them and blowing Chitauri up left in right. In the centre of that squadron was Cooper. Flying directly toward her and slowly coming to a stop in front of her.
"I like the suit." Cooper complimented as the girl looked down at herself and shrugged with her smile hidden under her helmet.
"Yeah, my dad gave me it." She chuckled.
One of the pilots that had a red strip down the centre of his chest piece floated forward. "Sorry to cut the little conversation but what do you need us to do, Nova?" The man questioned as the girl sighed quietly as she turned and looked around. Chaos and destruction was the only thing her eyes could see.
She may have led Cooper on many missions, but that was because it was just them two. Commanding 10 pilots was a whole different thing. Leadership was what she was good at, but to a certain extent. Natasha and Fury had always offered to help find pilots for her to teach and lead, but she never found herself worthy enough. A leader takes strength, courage and powerful serenity. Nova had yet to prove herself for courage or serenity. But she was hoping this battle could be her chance to do that.
Taking a deep breath, she turned back around to her squadron. "Alright, I need 5 pilots taking out Chitauri. Take out any crafts attacking the civies below and don't worry about the big guys. We still are figuring out how to take them out," she commanded as the commander motioned five to go. When they did, Nova turned to the remaining five. "You 5 go and get the civilians to safety. No matter what, you don't let any more die."
Once the rest of the flight squadron was off, that left Cooper and Nova floating as they watched the pilots fly off. "So, what do we do?" Cooper asked as he turned his head to Nova.
"We swing back down to Park Ave Viaduct," she said. "See if we can lay the heat down on some of the Chitauri." She told the blonde who smiled.
"After you." He motioned as the girl shook her head in amusement and flew in the direction of Grand Central Terminal.
Swinging around the building, the pair caught sight of Natasha and Clint fighting off ground troops of Chitauri. "Heads up!" Nova announced over the coms as she and Cooper shot missiles blowing up some of the Chitauri.
Continuing to fly towards Nat, the girl extended her arm down. "Nat, grab ahold!" She ordered as the assassin turned. Reaching up in time to grab Nova's forearm and be lifted up. Flying close to the ground, but just high enough that Nova wasn't putting Natasha's life at risk of hitting a vehicle. Using the Chitauri weapon, Natasha fired it at any Chitauri in their path whistle Nova used her electricity and shot beams.
Doing a sharp 180 back to Cooper and Clint who was joined by Steve. Slowing down, Nova allowed Natasha to land before she lowered herself to the ground. "That's a new move." Clint pointed out, looking between the two.
Nova shrugged as she glanced at Natasha. "Only works with Natasha." She replied casually.
"Are we not gonna talk about how Nova was shooting electricity from her hands?" Cooper inquired pointing at his friend as the group chuckled in amusement.
"Don't worry, I'm just as confused as you are," Nova reassured as the blonde shook his head.
The sound of thunder echoed through the air as lightning struck down and hit three Chitauri that had been advancing on the small group. Thor coming from the sky and landing. Grunting in pain as he used a flipped car for him to gain his balance before standing and making his way over to the group.
"What's the story upstairs?" Steve asked as he approached the demigod.
"The power surrounding the cube is impenetrable," Thor told the man as a few Chitauri crafts flew past.
"Thor's right. We need to deal with these guys," Tony chimed in as he flew past in hot pursuit of the Chitauri. "Also, glad to see you're still with us, kid."
"Glad I can be of some help, Stark," Nova replied with a chuckle.
Natasha turned back around to the pair as she sighed. "How do we do this?" She wondered aloud.
Steve stared up at Stark tower. "As a team."
"I have unfinished business with Loki," Thor told them.
Clint looked up from checking his arrows. "Yeah? Well, get in line." Clint spat as the god of thunder turned to say something.
"Save it," Steve interjected before the two could bicker anymore. "Loki's going to keep this fight focused on us, and that's what we need," he stated. "Without him, these things could run wild."
"We got Stark, Cooper and Nova up top. He's going to need us to..." Steve's sentence trailed off when the sound of a motorcycle could be heard approaching. Bruce maneuvered through the destruction before stopping and leaning the bike against a flipped car.
The group rallied around him as he blew a raspberry. "So, this all seems horrible."
Natasha looked him up and down. "I've seen worse."
Bruce pursed his lips at the statement. "Sorry."
Yet, Natasha smiled. "No, we could use a little worse."
That made Nova raise a brow. "We could?" She mumbled as Cooper nudged her.
"She means the big green anger management problem."
The girl let out an 'oh' as she nodded. "Oh, okay. Yeah, we need worse then."
"Stark, we got him," Steve announced.
"Banner?" Tony mused.
Steve nodded. "Just like you said."
"Then tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you."
Right down the long road, the tiny figure of Tony could be seen coming around a corner. Following behind him was one of the large Chitauri monsters hitting the side of the building.
"I don't see how that's a party." Natasha pointed out.
Nova chuckled. "Isn't this when you say that it reminds you of Budapest?" She inquired as both Nat and Clint looked at her.
"Already made that joke." They both told her at the same time as she raised a brow.
"Well, there goes that." She huffed as Cooper snickered in amusement.
As Tony lowered his altitude, so did the monster following him. Hitting the ground and tearing up the street. Its fins hitting cars and sending them flying to its side. Nova had to admit, it was like watching a shark coming at you underwater. Not that she had any experience, but she'd seen a lot of Jaws to know.
Bruce glanced back at the team before walking to the creature. "Dr. Banner." Steve gained the doctor's attention as he turned back to Steve. "Now might be a really good time for you to get angry." He told the doctor who smiled.
"That's my secret, Cap," Bruce told the supersoldier as he walked towards the monster steadily approaching. "I'm always angry."
Almost entirely on command, Bruce turned into the Hulk. Body changing and growing larger in frame and muscle. Wounding his arm back before punching the creature right in the head and causing the metal around its body to crack and break. Pushing Hulk back a couple of feet as the back end of the monster lifted up.
"Hold on," Tony called out as he shot a rocket into the exposed cut in the monster's side. When the rocket lodged itself in the opening, Nova placed her hands on her hips as she watched the creature's stomach blow up with its guts spilling out from the wound. The flames blossomed out beautifully as the creature slid off the road and landed somewhere below.
Cooper looked at his friend and noticed the piece of flesh from the monster resting on the girl's shoulder. Flicking it off her shoulder and motioning between the monster and her before she nodded.
The death of the Chitauri beast had caused nothing but the screams and roars of the rest of the Chitauri around them. All eight of them formed a circle as they stared up at their enemy. Unaffected by the screeching as Hulk roared back at them.
Nova didn't want to say it, but if she died here, she died fighting for the right cause. For years, she'd been searching for something to fight for. Terrorist cells could only give her meaning until there was none for her to fight against. Then what was she supposed to do? She couldn't just do nothing and fight people who didn't threaten the world as much as Loki and the Chitauri have.
All her life she'd been searching for a purpose and reason to keep doing what she was doing. And now she found her reason. It was the people around her, standing side by side willing to risk their lives to make sure the people of New York and around the world were safe. That was her reason to keep fighting, no matter the cost. So, if she died here, she knew she had fought the good fight and did everything she could to make sure people survived.
But that also reminded Nova of the things she hadn't told Natasha. Her feelings and all the things she wished they could do in the future. So, if her end came near, Nova wouldn't hold back and just tell the assassin everything. She couldn't die not telling the redhead how she truly felt toward her.
Roars could be heard from above causing the Usoro girl to blink a few times as she looked up. "Guys." Natasha got the rest of the group's attention as more of those Chitauri beasts could be seen coming from the large hole with other troops emerging as well.
"Call it, Captain," Tony said.
"All right, listen up. Until we can close that portal, our priority is containment." He told the group. "Barton, I want you on that roof. Eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays." The archer nodded at his orders. "Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything that gets more than three blocks away, you turn it back or turn it to ash."
"Can you give me a lift?" Clint asked.
"Right. Better clench up, Legolas." Tony told Clint before grabbing him by the back and shooting up to the top of the building to their left.
"Thor, you got to try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You got the lightning. Light the bastards up." The demigod nodded before he spun Mjolnir. Propelling himself in the air and in the direction of the Empire State Building he could situate himself on.
Finally, Steve turned to Nova and Cooper who waited eagerly to get their orders. "Did you get any info on the pilots that were coming?" The supersoldier asked as Nova nodded.
"I have 10 total with 5 of them taking out any Chitauri they come across and the rest getting civilians to safety." She explained.
"Good. I need you to keep them doing what they're doing. If we can get confirmation that everyone has been safely taken out of the city, then we can get to work with shutting the portal." Steve explained.
Cooper nodded to him. "What do you need, Cap? Tell us and we got it."
Steve pointed to Nova. "Since your power's, I've seen what it can do. Put it to use and do some strafing runs down the streets that have Chitauri ground troops," he told the girl before pointing at Cooper. "Cooper, follow her and made sure you blow them all to kingdom come." Both pilots nodded.
But before she left, she grabbed the man's arm. "Where's Leila?"
At the mention, the sound of laughter could be heard above. Both looked up to see a Chiatuari kicked off a roof with a figure following. Half her body glow with a bow and arrow in hand. Shooting at the alien, teleporting and piercing her sword through the creature's stomach. Hitting the ground right beside them and seeming unaffected by the impact. Leila grunted, ripping her sword from the creature's corpse and looking at Nova with a pant. Only finding a bewildered look from Steve and silence from Nova.
Leila held her arms out by her side, almost in question of their responses. "What?" She asked. "Was making sure the thing was dead."
"I think he was dead when you kicked him off the roof," Nova pointed out.
The warrior laughed, slapping Nova's shoulder softly. "Glad to see you're alive and in the fight," Was all she said before half her body glowed again, aiming a bow back to the roof and firing, body vanquishing with a slight shimmer.
"That's where she is," Steve muttered.
"Nova, don't get yourself killed," Natasha called out.
Brushing off the momentary shock of the warrior's previous actions, Nova laughed. "I won't if you'll be waiting for me at the end of the fight." She told the assassin who gave her a wink before flying off.
Taking that as her leave, Nova flew off in the direction down the street with Cooper following closely behind her. Quickly patching herself through to her father who could be heard typing rapidly on his keyboard.
"Dad, what are the other pilot's statuses?" She questioned as the man stopped typing.
"Uh, they are still kicking and doing as you asked. Two are currently near Bryant Park taking on one of those large weird-looking things." He told her.
"Okay, let them know me and Cooper are on our way." She announced before cutting off the coms.
Flying in the direction of Bryant Park, they could hear the roar of the monster. Coming to the park, they quickly saw the two pilots firing at the monster. "Alright, get its attention and I fire a hole into its side." She told Cooper as they flew towards the monster.
"Why am I putting my life at risk?"
"Oh, shut up and just do it."
"Fine!" Cooper flew right in front of the monster's face and made sure to use more energy from his engines. Burning the monster's face and causing it to cry in pain and do the exact opposite he had wanted. Instead, it approached the building. "I said distract it, Cooper!" Nova yelled over the comms as she caught sight of two kids running from the building.
"I'm sorry, I'm under a lot of pressure right now!" He exclaimed in return.
Exhaling roughly, Nova flew towards the two kids that didn't have enough time to get away as the monster was quickly tumbling to the ground. But with just enough luck, Nova scooped up the two boys and flew them down the street. Ignoring the fact that the large creature had crashed into the side of the Bryant Park building.
Landing down on the ground, Nova placed the two boys down. Her black visor became transparent and allowing them to see her eyes. "You guys okay?" She asked they both nodded in shock.
"What's your name?" She questioned as one kid had an ironman shirt on and the other had a button-up with a brown shirt under it.
"Uh, I'm Peter and this is Ned." The brown-haired boy introduced motioning to his friend, who stared at her in awe.
Nova smiled ruffling their hair up. "Well, Peter and Ned, get to safety." She told them as they nodded.
But before she could do anything else, a blast hit her and sent her flying back. Her body was flung and hit the side of a taxi. Pain shot up her entire abdomen as she rolled onto her back. A groan escaped her lips as more glass could be heard. Looking up to find Tony on the ground across from her. Spotting multiple Chiatauri approaching and shooting a beam at them. Burning them to ashes.
"Stark, Nova, do you hear me? You have a missile heading straight for the city." Fury announced over their coms as Nova saw more Chitauri soldiers approaching them.
"How long?" Tony questioned as a Chitauri soldier hit him in the back of the head. Nova raised her hand and shot him with her electricity. But she was hit in the face by a different alien, releasing a grunt of pain as another hit was aimed to her forehead, knocking her head against the pavement.
"Three minutes, max. The payload will wipe out Midtown." Fury announced as Nova shot more electricity from her hands and sent the Chitauri surrounding her back as they twitched and died.
Before she could react, a hand grasped hers and she was pulled into the air. "Kid, I'm gonna need some juice," Tony told her as he held her hand tightly.
It didn't take a genius to know what he was going to do. But she knew there had to be a reason why Fury got in contact with her and Tony. Maybe it was because he trusted them both with the impossible task. So, if that was the case, Nova wasn't going to let Tony do this alone. Not when the city was falling apart like it is. Maybe it was just her stupidity thinking, but she knew she needed to help Tony. After all, she was willing to save this city at all costs.
"I'm not letting you do this alone, Tony." She announced as her engines turned on and she shut off all power from her guns and only into her engines and hud. Flying right beside him as they flew in the direction out of the city. "I'll give you the extra energy, but we do this together. I need to have some meaning in my life." Nova told the billionaire who was silent for a few seconds.
But when he did, he sounded impressed and proud, maybe with a drop of sadness. "Alright, kid," he said, grabbing her shoulder softly. "You and me." He agreed as she smiled, placing her hand on his back and closing her eyes. Trying to control her power as she could feel the electricity flow through her veins at a slower rate than it had in the past.
Slowly, the electricity exited her hand and seeped into the components of the suit. Tony watched as the energy of the suit increased just enough that he needed. "Good job, kid." He congratulated her as the girl opened her eyes and let a tired smile appear. The energy of her body was being trained as she flew as fast as she could.
"I can close it," Natasha announced to the team. "Can anybody copy? I can shut the portal down."
"Do it!" Steve ordered.
"No, wait," Tony interjected as he and Nova approached the missile that had been launched. "Stark, these things are still coming." Steve reminded the man.
"I got a nuke coming in. It's gonna blow in less than a minute." The ironman countered as he and Nova came to an abrupt stop as the nuke flew right past them. "And I know just where to put it."
Nova pulled a G-Maneuver and blinked a few times as her vision dazed for a second before she shook her head. Quickly catching up to Tony and watching him grasp the bottom of the nuke. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she approached the back of it and grasped onto it and following his motion.
"Stark, you know that's a one-way trip." The supersoldier told the billionaire who sighed.
"Save it for the turn, J." He replied quickly, mentioning his own personal A.I.
As they approached the city rapidly, Nova let out a shaky exhale as she felt the sickness in her stomach itch at her. But her eyes snapped to the corner of her hud with a picture of Natasha appearing. Clenching her jaw, she looked forward and closed her eyes.
Allowing the missile to guide her towards the hole and using all remaining power in the engines and in her body. Reopening her eyes just as they passed through the portal, into deep space. Her entire visor shut down and cut off her vision from what was happening before her. Just silence as she let out a shaky sigh and closed her eyes. Letting her body relax just like it had in her free fall earlier that day. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she let out a bittersweet smile form on her lips. And soon, she fell into unconsciousness as the last thing she heard was the sound of an explosion.
Outside in New York, Cooper floated near Stark tower staring up at the portal. Anxiety rushed through his blood as he watched the large ball of flame in the portal, but no sign of Nova. Eyes frantically trying to find the figure of either Tony or Nova.
"Close it." Steve's quiet voice could be heard as Cooper's head snapped down to Natasha. Pointing at her warningly as he shook his head rapidly. A large lump in his throat that he tried forcing down.
"Don't you dare close it, Natasha! Don't you do it!" He commanded as the assassin pursed her lips and forced the sceptre towards the centre of the device. The power of the Tesseract shutting down with the large beam disappearing and seizing it from keeping the portal open.
Cooper's bloodshot eyes snapped to the portal as his chest vibrated in pain. "No!" Cooper howled as he slowly landed on Stark tower. His knees buckled out from under him as he watched the portal get smaller and smaller. His hands grasped his knees as he felt tears escape his eyes. Pulling his helmet free from his head and tossing it off the building in a fit of anger.
There was a long pause where Cooper looked down at the city. Able to get a clear view of the chaos left in Chitauri's wake. Whatever remaining troops of their enemy fell to the ground, seeming to become deceased within seconds.
"Cooper, both of them are coming in hot!" The distant yell from Natasha drew Cooper's attention to the sky. Seeing both figures descending at a rapid speed. Stumbling to his feet, Cooper grasped his controls and forced them forward and sending him into the air. His attention followed Nova's body which was spinning through the air.
As he passed her descent, he suddenly pulled a 90-degree turn and caught her. Turning himself as they went towards a building. Holding her close to his chest, they went through a window and hit the ground of an office and rolled across the ground. Grunts escaped Cooper's lips as he clamped his eyes shut when they finally came to a slow stop.
A groan escaped the blonde's lips as he stayed in his position with his friend. Continuing to hold her tight against his chest as his hand trembled around her waist. "Zeus, give me a diagnostic." He muttered as he closed his eyes. Seconds passed that felt like an eternity for the blonde who released the girl and settled himself on his knees. Holding his breath as he stared at the black visor that hid Nova's face. His irregular heart beat against his chest as he waited for the info to be given to him.
"There is a pulse," Zeus announced to the blonde. Allowing Cooper to let out an exhale as he bowed his head. Tears sprang free from his eyes as he shook his head. A choked sob escaped him as he lifted his head once more.
Carefully grasping Nova's helmet and took it off cautiously. Placing his hand under her head and letting it rest against the ground softly. She had a cut on her chin and a cut right under her left eye. But the sight of tears was still evident as they slid down her cheeks.
Inhaling deeply, Cooper grabbed her chest plate and shook her softly. "Nova, wake up." He whispered as he continued to shake her. "If you don't wake up I'm going to steal Natasha from you. So, fucking wake up." He told the girl.
"I'll break your arm before you do." Nova groaned as she let her eyes flicker open. A laugh came from Cooper as he moved back and sat down on his ass. Watching the girl sit up slowly and move against the wall. Sighing softly as she closed her eyes again. "What happened?" She mused as Cooper smiled, hands holding her shoulders.
"We won."
