𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 πŸ’πŸ—: 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐒

Parvati Patil cast a charm to make a paper bird fly around the classroom. You looked up to see it flying around making you smile and bringing back memories.

"Look, pumpkin!"

Edward showed you a paper bird flying when you were six years old while Megan was five.

"How did you do that, daddy?"

"Magic."

Then you remembered him jumping around to catch it and ends up failing because of how high the paper bird was flying. Once he did, he brought it to you so you and Megan could take a closer look.

"Do you want to make it fly?"

Then he taught you how to do it. You made it fly and it was flying around the house. You remember hearing Megan's giggles as she tried to catch the flying paper bird around even if she couldn't reach it.

It was beautiful. You sighed heavily. 'I miss you, Dad.'

In all of a sudden, the paper bird was burned down by none other than Dolores Umbridge. The burnt paper was dropped back down to Parvati and Padma's desk. You and the other students turned around to see her by the entrance. You scrunched your nose in annoyance, a habit you've been picking up on now. 'Oh, great. It's Dolores Killjoy.'

"Good morning, children." She greeted you all as she formed a sweet sickeningly smile. As she walked towards the board, she raised her wand and the chalk started writing. "Ordinary Wizarding Level Examinations. O-W-Ls!"

Umbridge turned to her students once she was in front. "More commonly known as OWLs! Study hard and you will be rewarded." She explained. "Fail to do so, and the consequences may be severe."

You raised your hand up earning some looks from your friends including a certain Slytherin student. Umbridge nodded at you. "Yes, dear?"

"What consequences?" You questioned. "Hopefully nothing that could possibly kill us."

Seamus snickered, agreeing with your answer while Harry and Ron smiled. Umbridge blinked her eyes. "I assure you, Ms. Stark, the consequences will be far from death but will be severe."

You clenched your jaw when you realized she knows you. Umbridge noticed your change of expression as you placed your hand down. "Yes, Ms. Stark. I know very well who you are. And your reputation nor your family name will not stop me from punishing you if you did something wrong."

You knew Umbridge favored the pure-bloods such as yourself or Draco but you had a feeling that she didn't like Edward Stark. Meaning, she started hating the Stark family as well. Then with one wave of her wand, the books started floating and were placed on your tables. "Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven. But you'll be pleased to know, from now on, you will be following a carefully structured, Ministry-approved course of defensive magic."

You looked down at the book and furrowed your eyebrows in surprise. 'Basic for Beginners?' You glanced at Hermione who was also thinking the same thing. 'Ministry-approved? Well, this Ministry-approved book is for children and boring.'

Hermoine, who was beside you, raised her hand. Umbridge saw her. "Yes?"

"There's nothing in here about using defensive spells?" Hermione asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

"Using spells?" Umbridge questioned. "Haha!"

You blinked in surprise when you heard her laugh. 'Okay. First of all, what the fuck is that laugh.'

"Well, I can't imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom," Umbridge replied with a smile as she walked towards you and Hermione.

"We're not gonna use magic?" Ron asked in disbelief.

"You will be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk-free way," Umbridge said calmly.

"Nothing in Hogwarts is risk-free, professor." You corrected. "We had a third floor with a giant three-headed dog, a Chamber of Secrets that contained a huge Basilisk, and loads more."

"And what use is that?" Harry asked Umbridge with a scoff. "If we're gonna be attacked, it won't be risk-free."

"Students will raise their hands when they speak in my class." Umbridge looked at him sternly before returning back in front. She paused before talking again. "It is the view of the Ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations, which after all, is what school is all about."

"And how's theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?" Harry asked as he put his hands down.

"There is nothing out there, dear!" Umbridge exclaimed. You could feel your blood boiling in annoyance and anger. "Who do you imagine would want to attack children like yourself?"

"Oh, I don't know. Maybe Lord Voldemort!" Harry exclaimed back.

There was a brief silence with other students looking away or looking down. You looked at Harry as Harry glanced at you. You looked around the class and saw some were whispering. You looked back and saw Draco, beside Pansy, who was looking down.

Umbridge faltered a smile. "Now, let me make this quite plain. You have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again." She explained as she walked around and passed by you and Hermione. Umbridge stopped beside Harry. "This... is... a... lie."

"It's not a lie!" Harry defended and argued. "I saw him! I fought him!"

"Detention, Mr. Potter!" Umbridge yelled that made you startled. She went back to her place.

Harry rolled his eyes. "So according to you, Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord?"

Umbridge turned to Harry. "Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident."

You clenched your hands but Hermione placed her hand on top of yours, trying to calm you down. 'Permission to kill this frog of a bitch? My blood is boiling in anger.'

"It was murder!" Harry exclaimed angrily. "Voldemort killed him! You must know!"

"Enough!" Umbridge yelled again causing you to jump in surprise. She took a deep breath and gave a smile. "Enough. See me later, Mr. Potter, in my office." She giggled.

After class, you quickly got out of the classroom. You were gritting your teeth and clenching your fists in anger and annoyance, your nails digging into your palm.

'How dare she claimed that Cedric's death was an accident. Accident?! Accident my arse.' You huffed in annoyance. 'Umbridge is much worse than Voldemort, I can tell.'

You turned to a corner and spotted Draco talking with Pansy. You blinked in surprise. 'Oh great. Just to make my day more miserable.' You guessed that they were talking about being prefects since they were appointed this year. You didn't become a Prefect since it was Hermione and Ron who took the roles.

Your father, Edward, and your mother, Vivian, were both prefects and Head Boy and Head Girl. As much as you wanted to follow in their footsteps, you figured that Megan, in time, will be more suitable for the job.

You walked away until you bumped into a Slytherin girl. "Watch it, Stark!" Stacey exclaimed, earning some looks from the students around, including Draco and Pansy. Stacey pushed you in annoyance while you ran your fingers through your hair. "If you were looking where you were going, we wouldn't be in this situation, huh?" Stacey scoffed.

You exhaled sharply. "I'm really not in the mood right now, Doom." You replied. "Now move away or I won't hesitate to hex you."

"You think I'm afraid, maniac?"

Dropping your books down, you grabbed her shirt and pushed Stacey against the walls in anger. "Maniac? You have seen nothing, Doom. If you want a maniac, I can show you one!"

"(Y/n)!" Draco approached you and Stacey, leaving Pansy who was approached by Daphne. He held your wrist and calmed you down. "Easy."

You brought Stacey back down and looked around to see some students watching. Stacey fixed her robes and glanced up at Draco before scoffing at you. "You gotta work on your anger issues, Stark. Draco Malfoy wouldn't always be around to come and save you to be your knight in shining armor."

"Ms. Stark!" You, Draco, and Stacey turned your heads to see Dolores Umbridge by the door. "In my office, tomorrow."

Once Umbridge was out of sight, you rolled your eyes and shoved Stacey out of the way, ignoring Draco's calls and Stacey's laughter.

"They're called Thestrals," Luna informed you as she looked at the creature. You and Luna were both in the forest, looking for the creatures. "They're quite gentle, really, but people avoid them because they're a bit..."

"Different." You finished her sentence as you stared up at the creature. You reached your hand out to the Thestral and it didn't seem to be bothered.

"Aren't your feet cold?"

You and Luna turned around to see Harry with a worried look. You looked down to see Luna's bare feet. "Hello, Harry Potter. My feet are a bit cold." Luna answered. "Unfortunately, all my shoes have mysteriously disappeared. I suspect the Nargles are behind it."

Harry stepped forward to look at the Thestral. The creature slowly walked away. "I heard you two talking." He said as you and Harry followed Luna, who was walking towards a small Thestral. "So why can't the others see them?"

"They can only be seen by people who've seen death," Luna explained.

You nodded in realization. You were confused as to why you couldn't see them when you were younger but now you understand. "So, you've known someone who died?" Harry asked, looking at her.

Luna nodded. "My mum. She was quite an extraordinary witch, but she did like to experiment, and one day, one of her spells went badly wrong. I was nine."

"I'm sorry." You said sadly.

"Yes, it was rather horrible." Luna stopped in her tracks. "I do feel very sad about it sometimes, but I've still got Dad." She pulled out something from her bag. A red apple. "We both believe you, by the way."

Harry and you exchanged looks then looked back at Luna. Luna looked at Harry. "That He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is back, and you fought him, and the Ministry and the Prophet are conspiring against you and Dumbledore."

Harry smiled a bit. "Thanks. Seems you and my friends are about the only ones that do."

"I don't think that's true," Luna said. She crouched down to give the apple to the young Thestral. "But I suppose that's how he wants you to feel." The Thestral smelled the apple and didn't feel like eating it.

"What do you mean?" Harry asked, glancing at you.

She stood back up and looked at Harry with a smile. "Well, if I were You-Know-Who, I'd want you to feel cut off from everyone else. Because if it's just you alone you're not as much of a threat." She pulled out a piece of meat from her bag and gave it to the young Thestral who gladly ate it.
