"Hagrid!" Harry greeted a huge and tall guy who was holding a lamp. You followed him along with Ron.

"Hello, Harry!" Rubeus Hagrid greeted back. "Now! First years! Come follow me!"

You and the other students rode boats to reach the school. You admire the castle with Hermione as it goes closer and closer. It was like a fairytale you imagine while reading books. Finally, you together with your friends and other students went inside and went to the stairs. You were all greeted by an old woman.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. I'm Professor McGonagall." The lady greeted with a warm smile. "Now in a few moments, we will pass through these doors and join your classmates but before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses."

You looked at Hermione as Ron looked at Harry.

"They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin." She said. "Now when you're here, your house will be like your family..." McGonagall continued to say the rules and about the points.

You then heard a toad's croak. You looked down and saw a toad.

"Trevor!" You heard a boy exclaimed. You saw the boy and assumed that it was Neville Longbottom, the boy who Hermione was talking about earlier on the train. He quickly carried his toad then looked at the old lady. He stood up and gave a quick apology to her.

"Sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." The lady finishes and walked away.

"It's true then."

You heard a familiar voice just behind you and your new friends. It was so familiar that you knew who it was already. Few students looked at the boy who talked.

"What they're saying on the train." The boy with plain blonde hair continued with a smirk. "Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts."

You and Hermione looked at Harry as students started whispering and murmuring words.

"Harry Potter?" Neville asked in awe.

"This is Crabbe and Goyle." Draco introduced his two friends before walking up in front of Harry, standing tall and proud. "And I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy."

Draco noticed you and smiled at you while you just waved in return earning a look from Hermione. You heard Ron's snort causing Draco to snap his head at the ginger boy. glaring at him sternly. "You think my name is funny, do you? No need to ask yours."

Ron glared at him as Draco continued to talk, mocking the boy. "Red hair and a hand-me-down robe. You must be a Weasley."

A frown was placed on your face as you watched Draco looked back at Harry. "You'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter." He then turned to Ron again as he insulted him more. He looked at Harry once again and extended his arms, offering a handshake. "I can help you there."

Harry stared down at Draco's hand. You were wondering if he was going to accept the handshake. The students were anticipating Harry Potter's response to Draco Malfoy.

And he finally did.

"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks," Harry replied with no handshake but with a glare.

Professor McGonagall came back and patted Draco's shoulder. He glanced at the old woman before glaring at Harry and walking away. McGonagall looked at everyone and spoke. "We're ready for you now. Follow me." You and the others followed her, entering the Great Hall.

The Sorting Ceremony was being held at the Great Hall. It started right after Professor Albus Dumbledore's speech about a few rules. After the speech, Professor McGonagall brought out a scroll with names listed there and a brown magic hat: the Sorting Hat.

"Now when I call your name, you will come forth. I shall place the Sorting Hat on your head and you will be sorted to your houses." She instructed as she opened the scroll to announce the first student who will be sorted. "Hermione Granger."

Hermione softly gasped when she heard her name was called. You gave her a comforting smile after patting her back. "You can do it." She smiled and took a deep breath before going up to sit on the chair. The Sorting Hat was placed on top of her head.

"Ah, right there." The Sorting Hat started to talk. He started thinking deeply about where to put Hermione in. Probably choosing either Ravenclaw or something else. "Right... okay... Gryffindor!"

The students in Gryffindor started cheering and some stood up as they clap. You were one of them. Hermione was hoping you could be on Gryffindor as well. She sat beside a guy named Percy Weasley, Ron's older brother, and shook hands with her, welcoming her to Gryffindor.

"Draco Malfoy."

You looked at Draco as he walked out from the crowd nervously and sat on the chair. Not long enough, not even touching Draco's head yet, the Sorting Hat quickly announced his house.

"Slytherin!"

A smirk appeared on Draco's face in confidence and ease. He glanced at you and you just stared at him. He gave you a nod before walking away to his fellow Slytherin students.

"Susan Bones."

A ginger-haired girl stood up and sat on the chair. While waiting for his name to be called, Harry noticed a professor who was also looking at him. Professor Severus Snape. The scar on his forehead started to sting. You noticed him and began to worry. "Are you alright?" You asked in concern.

"I'm fine, thanks." Harry smiled at you. He glanced at the professor again one last time before looking back at the students in front.

"Let's see.." Sorting Hat announced. "I know! Hufflepuff!"

"Ronald Weasley."

Ron's eyes enlarged in surprise and fear as he looked at his fellow students. He gulped and sat on the chair. The hat was placed on his head. As the Sorting Hat began to talk, Ron gasped.

"Ha! Another Weasley. I know what just to do with you. Gryffindor!"

Ron sighed in relief as Professor McGonagall removed the hat on his head. He sat down with his two older twin brothers, Fred and George Weasley.

"(Y/n) Stark."

You looked at everyone who turned their attention to you before looking at Harry who was smiling encouragingly at you. As you approached the chair, you can hear whispers and mutters around you. You inhaled deeply before sitting on the chair as the hat was placed on top of your head.

"Ah!" The hat exclaimed. "Another Stark! Your father was a very good Slytherin and your mother was, too, a very good Hufflepuff."

Draco heard your father was in Slytherin so he listened more and looked at you. He noticed you weren't looking at him and was looking down nervously. Unknowingly, he smiled at you widely.

You sighed and closed your eyes as you waited for the hat to tell you what house you're going to.

"A part of you wanted to go to Gryffindor and a part that you wanted to go to Slytherin, am I right? There is also a part of you that you wanted Hufflepuff but you can also be Ravenclaw, you know that right?"

Draco's smile grew wider, knowing that a part of you wanted to go to Slytherin. He knew you two weren't close but he wanted to be a close friend of you. After all, you were a Stark.

Ron looked at Hermione. "Slytherin? In all of the houses, why that one?"

"Honestly, don't you listen?" Hermione asked. "The Sorting Hat just said that her father was in Slytherin! Probably, she wants to be like her father."

"Gryffindor!" At last, the hat finally decided where to put you. You walked away and gazed at Draco who was on the Slytherin table. Draco sighed before looking away as you sat beside Hermione. "Welcome to Gryffindor, (Y/n)." Hermione cheered.

"Harry Potter."

All of you, even Dumbledore, anticipated as Harry sat on the chair. He jumped in surprise when the hat spoke.

"Hmm, difficult. Very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh yes. And a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?"

Harry closed his eyes and whispered. "Not Slytherin. Not Slytherin."

"Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It's all here in your head. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, there's no doubt about that. No?" The hat clarified.

"Please, please. Anything but Slytherin, anything but Slytherin." Harry pleaded.

"Well if you're sure, better be... Gryffindor!"

The Gryffindors stood up and clapped for him including you, Hermione, and Ron. Harry grinned as he rushed to the table and sat down with Ron. The Boy Who Lived is in Gryffindor.

Percy and the Weasley twins shook Harry's hand, welcoming him. Harry grinned as he turned to you who gave him a welcoming smile. Harry glanced at Dumbledore who gave him a small toast.

Minerva started clinking the glass of wine with her spoon. "Attention please."

Dumbledore stood up from his chair and smiled. "Let the feast, begin."

Food began to magically emerge on the table as students were awed. Ron widened his eyes before licking his lips while Harry was amazed.

"Say, Percy..." You heard Harry asked. "Who's that professor?" He pointed towards Snape.

"Oh! That's Professor Snape. Head of Slytherin House." Percy answered. You and Harry looked at Professor Snape who was busy talking to Professor Quirrel.

"What does he teach?" You asked Percy.

"Potions." Another boy replied instead of Percy who still has food in his mouth.

Ron was about to get another chicken when a ghost head jumped out from the table. Ron jumped in shock and shrieked.

"Hello!" The ghost greeted Ron. "How are you? Welcome to Gryffindor!" Ron and Hermione exchanged looks in surprise. Then, ghosts started to appear out of nowhere.

"Hello, Sir Nicholas. Had a nice summer?" Percy asked. Nicholas turned to him as he sighed. "My request to Headless Hunt has been denied."

He turned around and flew. Before he can go any further, Ron started talking. "I know you! You're Nearly Headless Nick!"

Nicholas turned around to him and gazed at him sternly. "I prefer 'Sir Nicholas' if you don't mind."

"Nearly headless?" Hermione questioned. "How can you be nearly headless?"

"Like this," Nicholas pulled his head off easily and he was nearly headless.

Ron screamed in terror while Hermione closed her eyes in disgust. You giggled at Hermione's expression.

Nicholas put his head back then flew away. You checked on Hermione with a playful smirk. "You alright, Mione?" Hermione slowly nodded and ate her food. "Y-Yeah. Yeah."
