The only error JOAN HARRINGTON has ever make in her pathetic life has been to please her mother, following each one of the rules she laid down for her.

Or that was at least the first one because Joan wasn't allowed to make mistakes. She must be perfect. There wasn't anyone who didn't expect her to. After all, she was the cheerleader's captain, class president, and every teacher's favorite, and, as if all that wasn't enough, she was stupidly kind to everyone she encountered.

If you had to choose the perfect teenager to represent Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, that would be Joan. Everyone else's wishes came before hers, and she was very obedient to her mother's orders because she was sure she knew what was best for her future.

However, Joan was aware that there was some adrenaline missing in her monotonous life. Although she didn't expect precisely to be involved with her brother in the adventures of some children and a girl with powers to fight against monsters of a parallel dimension to Hawkins; it gave her a new perspective.

She didn't want people to pull the threads anymore. She didn't need a puppeteer; she wasn't an object. Her voice must be heard.

That was how, on a summer night, she met him. Well, rather, that was the first time she saw him with other eyes.

EDDIE MUNSON was used to receiving disapproving looks, sometimes shared with insults. He didn't expect people at Hawkins High School to change their way of thinking overnight. But then someone showed him how wrong he was, seeing him genuinely and not contemptuously. For him, it was a surprise to discover that one of the most popular cheerleaders in school had a heart.

Theirs was a love story with enough power to dethrone Romeo and Juliet. They were ready to draw their fate and change the unhappy ending of Shakespeare's protagonists, so their only task was to keep their relationship a secret until they finished high school. After that, their future was far away from Hawkins.

The only detail that they didn't count on was that the Upside Down hid a new enemy. And it was even more dangerous than the others that Joan and the friends of her brother had dealt with in the past.
