aurora sighs, standing up from the edge of the bath tub with a frown. she doesn't have the smile that usually comes with talking to cameron. she doesn't really like how quickly he'd gotten so mad and definitely not how he mentioned the idea of her ditching her friends for him.

but here she is, actually doing exactly that. she kind of has to since it's cameron. she's had a crush on him for a year now, who is she if she turns down an opportunity to be alone with him? he'd also probably get annoyed again if she says no.

so, she walks over to the towel rack and grabs one before exiting the bathroom and heading for ravens room. when she gets there, she closes the door and locks it behind her. she grabs the clothes she was wearing earlier and changes into them. all she had for pants was the sweatpants matt got completely soaked so she grabs a pair of ravens. she dries her hair a tad with the towel and as she's about to leave the room, she pauses at the mirror. she looks at her reflection and rubs at her eyes.

she's not sure why she feels so weird.

she sighs and unlocks the door, walking through once it's opened.

when she makes it to the backyard, everyone is now sat around a table with a huge umbrella putting shade over all of them.

nick notices her first and immediately smiles, waving her over to sit in the seat next to him. he notices she's fully dressed and raises his eyebrows. "are you not swimming again, rory?" he asks, making everyone else realize her presence and look over at her.

"uh no," she says, walking over to the table and accidentally catching matt's timid eye. she instantly focuses back on nick. "cameron wants to um, hang out with me."

venus and chris instantly share a secret look. see, the two had both been getting a bad vibe from cameron because of how he reacted with the whole matt coffee thing. they don't want to voice their opinions though because their best friend is the most excited they've ever seen her and they don't really have proof, just a feeling.

raven and nick though, they immediately grin. unlike venus and chris, they hadn't really payed attention to cameron's reaction that night. they're still the forming relationships number one supporters.

"oh my god, really?" raven exclaims, earning a small smile and a nod of confirmation from aurora.

chris and venus look at each other again before back at their friend. "you don't seem as excited as you usually do?" chris questions.

aurora immediately plasters a fake, wider grin on her face. "i am, i am," she tells them.

chris opens his mouth to speak again but stops once matt scoffs loudly. everyone simultaneously turns to glance at him, even aurora who had been avoiding returning his strong stare.

"no you're not," he says, his eyebrows resting in a deep furrow as he stares at her.

her jaw is instantly clenching in annoyance. he's already caused a fight between her and cameron because of something he said over a phone call and now he's accusing her of not being happy to hang out with him. "yes i am, matt," she crosses her arms and narrows her eyes at him. "whatever you said to him obviously didn't work."

he rolls his eyes and she notices a clench of his jaw as he looks away from her and off into another direction. he stays silent so she speaks up again, "why do you even care?"

he instantly turns back to look at her, pausing for a second since he's taken aback before responding. "i don't," he immediately denies, a harsh tone in his voice as he shakes his head. "i don't fucking care."

"whatever," she scoffs. "why are you always getting so mad over it then?"

he goes silent, looking away from her again with a shake of his head. she just stares at him because seriously? he doesn't care but he can't give her a simple ass explanation?

when matt doesn't speak, chris clears his throat. "well!" he says loudly, now everyone turning to him instead. "mad isn't the first word i, personally would use."

"chris, what?" aurora sighs, having no clue what he's even talking about now.

"oh?" venus says after aurora, raising her eyebrows and hiding her mischievous grin. "what word would you use, chris?"

"well, venus," he sighs, pausing for a moment and hiding his grin as well. "i'm pretty sure it starts with a J and ends with a- OW! WHO THE FUCK JUST KICKED ME UNDERNEATH THE TABLE?"

after chris yells, he begins accusing everyone so they all begin to yell as well. aurora just sighs, feeling her phone vibrate in her pocket. she takes a step away from the group and opens her phone to find a text from cameron telling her he's here. she quickly sends out a response and puts her phone away again.

she walks back over to the group. "okay, i'm going now," she says, awkwardly pressing her lips together when no one hears her because of the screaming.

she sighs until nick notices her and yells over everyone, "GOOD LUCK, RORY!" he screams loudly, everyone turning their heads and realizing auroras about to head out. "TEXT ME."

she nods her head with a grin. "YEAH, WE LOVE YOU. BYE," chris yells now. she's unsure why they're still yelling but she smiles wider anyways.

when they return back to their loud conversation, she turns around and begins walking away. she feels a distinct pair of eyes burning a hole into her back as she walks to the door. she's pretty sure who it is but makes sure to look when entering inside the house and turning around to shut the sliding door behind her.

she sees matt staring at her through the glass, annoyance plastered all over his face and an unclear emotion in his eyes she can't figure out. she gets this weird uneasy feeling in her stomach and turns around.
