"i just feel like if he loved her he wouldn't of smashed an egg on her head," chris sighs.

"yeah exactly," aurora agrees.

the two lay on their stomachs on ravens bed, their faces at the end so they're closer to the tv. they took a break from swimming and decided on watching glee. they both put on pants over their swim bottoms, not wanting to get ravens bed completely wet.

the scene of the character jessie st. james cracking an egg onto rachel's head passes and chris turns to aurora. "maybe that's like... his love language or something?"

"throwing eggs at her is his love language?" she repeats his suggestion, raising her eyebrows as she turns to him.

"yeah um, nevermind," he shakes his head, turning back to the tv and sighing. "i don't know where i was going with that one."

"it's okay," aurora says, pressing her lips together and patting his shoulder. "you tried your best to understand."

he presses his lips together as well, looking back at her and nodding. "thanks."

"i'm sorry, are you talking about eggs?"

chris and aurora both simultaneously turn their heads to find venus in the doorway with a confused frown on her face.

"yes."

"no."

chris and aurora both turn to each other and frown before turning back to venus.

"no."

"yes?"

aurora immediately turns back to chris. "chris!" she groans.

"what!" he exclaims. "we are talking about eggs."

aurora just sighs as venus walks into the room. venus glances at the tv and frowns. "you guys got out of the pool to watch... this?" she questions.

"yes, venus," aurora says, rolling her eyes.

"don't judge us, what the fuck?" chris says, offended.

"okay, okay i'm sorry i guess," she sighs, glancing at what's on the tv for a few seconds more before turning back to them. "are you guys gonna come back to the pool?"

"yeah," aurora says, glancing at chris for confirmation and then turning back to venus once he nods his head. "see, we originally just got hungry and made pizza rolls but chris wanted to watch glee because the last time we watched it we left over on a cliffhanger or something."

"oh okay," venus says, unsure of why they'd want to watch a show with matthew morisson in it but nodding her head anyway. "hurry up before matt and nick kill each other."

"what?" aurora questions, beginning to climb off the bed. "why are they about to kill each other?" she further asks as chris grabs the remote and turns the tv off.

"uh, i don't know? because it's them?" she just shrugs before turning around and walking out of the room. chris and aurora both look at each other, sharing a questionable look before following venus' lead and making their way to ravens backyard.

when they enter through the glass sliding doors right behind venus, raven sits up on one of the few lounge chairs with a frown. "where's the pizza rolls?"

aurora and chris immediately both look to each other. "what?"

"the pizza rolls," she repeats, beginning to narrow her eyes as her girlfriend sits next to her with an amused grin, knowing chris and aurora ate them all. "you said you were making some?"

aurora turns to chris and shakes her head. "you've got this," she tells him quietly before beginning to straight up walk away. chris' eyes widen as she begins to walk towards nick in the pool so she doesn't have to explain herself.

"um," chris mumbles as she leaves the scene, ravens intense stare focused on him as he begins to rub at the back of his neck awkwardly.

aurora walks off over to the end of the pool that nicks in and pauses once she reaches the edge. he lays there on a pool float, casually scrolling through tiktok like he's not in the middle of a pool. her hands rest at her hips as she glances around, noticing the absence of a primary third of the brothers.

"where's matt?" she asks out loud, nick immediately looking at her and raising his eyebrows. he didn't even notice her there.

"i have no clue honest-" his words cut off as he suddenly focuses on something behind her, his eyes widening as he looks back at her. "you're about to find out actually."

"what?" aurora furrows her eyebrows. "what is that supposed-"

her words are cut off when someone behind her suddenly wraps their arms around her waist. her eyes immediately widen and her stomach does this weird ass thing. right as she opens her mouth to immediately question the touch, her feet are lifted off the ground. her body gets quite literally thrown and all she registers is the grip around her waist disappearing and the water underneath her before she clamps her eyes shut.

when she plunges into the water, it only takes a few seconds before she's rising back up to the surface. she immediately takes a gasp of fresh air and begins rubbing at her eyes. when her eyelids are clear of any chlorine-filled liquid, she opens her eyes and immediately turns around to the figure now standing at the edge of the pool.

she immediately scowls as she sees matt's hunched over figure, literally dying of laughter with his hands on his knees. she turns next to her to see nick on the pool float with droplets of water all over him from the splash as he continues laughing as well.

"what the fuck!" she exclaims, turning back to face matt in front of her. "i still have sweatpants on, you fucking dick."

the two just seem to laugh more at that. once it dies down after a second, matt finally looks down at her and grins smugly. "yeah, i noticed that."

"god, you should've seen your fucking face, rory," nick laughs, slowly beginning to pause once aurora glares at him. he clears his throat. "i mean-"

"shut the fuck up," she interrupts him, him instantly doing so as his friend is scary when mad. he's honestly not sure how matt doesn't get scared of her when she's angry.

"hey rory!" chris suddenly shouts by venus and raven. aurora, nick, and matt all turn around as he yells again, "someone's calling you."

"oh shit," she frowns before shouting out, "who?"

"uh," he pauses, picking up the phone and glancing at it. his eyebrows raise and he turns back to her. "cameron."

"wait really?" she questions, a small smile beginning to form on her face. it had been a week since the whole... coffee thing and her and cameron had completely gotten past it. they've been talking everyday since then and aurora is completely over the moon.

chris nods as an answer.

"can you accept the call and tell him to give me a sec?" she calls out to him since well, she's still in a pool with her sweatpants on.

he nods again before clicking a button and raising the phone to his ear. aurora grins only for a second before she's stopped by a voice behind her.

"don't worry, aurora," matt says, aurora turning around to see him standing at the edge of the pool still, now with crossed arms and a conniving smile she doesn't like. "i'll keep him company over the phone while he waits for you."

"what?" she frowns, her eyebrows beginning to furrow because what the fuck did he just say?

when he suddenly turns and begins walking around the pool, aurora processes what he said and her eyes widen. "MATT I SWEAR TO GOD," she yells, beginning to swim towards the pool steps.

matt reaches chris as she's still a few feet away from the entrance and he even shoots her a sadistic grin before taking the phone from chris. her eyes widen in horror as he says into the tiny speakers, "hi cameron."

she can immediately tell by the tone of his voice that any conversation matt plans to have with cameron is not pleasant. she swims quicker and just as she reaches the steps of the pool entrance, matt notices and speed walks through the still open sliding doors.

aurora groans loudly as she finally gets out of the pool, now knowing she'll have to chase him through the house to get her phone back.

it ends up taking her two full minutes, two horrendous minutes where conversation between cameron and matt takes place, to find matt. since ravens parents aren't home, he literally hid in their upstairs bathroom.

when aurora enters the bathroom, the first thing she sees is matt through the gigantic mirror on the wall. he's turned to his side, seemingly looking down at the ground with narrowed eyes. he's muttering something over the phone too lowly for her to make out but she can tell by his expression that he's annoyed as he speaks. when she hears him scoff loudly before beginning to murmur again, she decides to walk into the room fully.

he notices her in the corner of his eye walk in through the mirror reflection and looks up, sighing. she rolls her eyes at his unnecessary sigh as he turns around to her. "give me my phone, matt," she tells him sternly, stretching her hand out for it.

there's a moment of silence where they stare at each other, matt not wanting to give in and aurora trying to glare at him enough that it will somehow kill him. after a few seconds, he sighs. he mutters out a, "fine," and hands it out to her.

she immediately grabs it from him and wastes no time in raising it up to her ear. "hey it's me," she instantly says, not caring that matt's still in the room.

she's completely taken aback when cameron's harsh voice comes in through the tiny speakers, "you need to sort your shit out with matt."

"what?" her eyebrows immediately begin to furrow and she looks at matt, knowing he's done something.

when cameron hangs up without saying anything else, aurora pulls her phone from her ear and glares at matt. "what the fuck did you say to him?" she accuses harshly.

instead of answering with some remark, he just stands there without speaking. he stares at her wordlessly for a few seconds, glancing over her face before beginning to shake his head. auroras eyebrows somehow furrow even more as he suddenly steps forward and walks right past her without an explanation.

after he's walked away, she doesn't chase him and demand an explanation like she usually would. instead, she just stands there with a frown. what could he have said to make cameron so goddamn mad?

she sighs loudly to herself before walking towards the door. instead of walking out of it, she closes it. she walks over to the bathtub and sits on the edge of it, pulling out her phone to text cameron and settle whatever just happened.
