"how are you always the first one done?"

"because i'm always the first one up", olivia replied, almost as if it was obvious why.

madi and olivia were talking to each other while madi was doing her makeup until cynthia walked out of the bathroom.

"i see you took my advice and wore a shirt", remarked olivia.

"wow. you're funny", cynthia retorted, glaring at olivia before taking her makeup bag back into the bathroom with her.

once the two girls heard cynthia lock the door, madi looked at olivia. "what?", she questioned, not knowing why madi was giving her a look. she continued to give her the look as olivia looked back, even more confused.

"okay, so when i say one thing about her, you get annoyed but when she spends a whole day making comments about me, it's okay?"

"no. olivia that's not what i meant. she's fourteen, of course she's going to be immature. try be the bigger person and ignore her"

olivia rolled her eyes in response. she got up from where she was sat and walked to the door.

"where're you going?", madi asked, looking up her direction.

"i'm gonna get my breakfast and see who else is up."

"okay, see you in a few."

olivia left and made her way straight to the kitchen.

chase heard her footsteps as he turned around with a big grin on his face. "chase, what the fuck are you wearing?"

"you like it?"

"it's...interesting?", olivia hesitated.

"great! cus that's what i was going for", chase exclaimed with a grin on his face.

as chase and olivia spoke to each other, jaden and jackson walked in making their way past the two. "hossler".

"brooky".

"brooky?", chase questioned. jaden and olivia both nodded their heads in response. "that's dumb", chase snickered.

"coming from the boy who's dressed up like he's part of the swat team", jaden retorted.

"your opinion... is irrelevant", chase said in a dramatic tone as he put his dishes away. "if anyone needs me, i'll be outside".

as he walked through the doorway, cynthia walked in. neither of them making any interaction with each other. well chase gave her a small smile but that was it.

'are they okay?', olivia thought to herself as she watched their awkward encounter.

cynthia sat next to jaden, which olivia took as a signal for her to leave.

"well, that's me gone. i'll also be outside if anyone needs me. see ya zebra print", olivia gave jackson a pat on his back, earning a glare from him in return.

outside were chase, josh and sam. "kinda digging the stripes josh", olivia complimented him.

"what, i don't get a compliment?", sam folded his arms across his chest.

olivia looked him up and down before answering, "no".

chase on the other hand, was stood looking over the balcony.

olivia tapped sam and josh, asking them if they knew what was up with chase. they both shrugged and shook their heads.

she was about to go up to him and ask him if he was okay, when cynthia, jaden and jackson walked through.

things were quiet between the group, all that could be heard was the little chatter between cynthia and jaden. the awkwardness between them lead to olivia going back inside, sam following her and jaden shortly after going back in.

madi and cynthia were in their room, either talking to each other or doing a live stream. everyone else were in their own shared rooms or so olivia thought.

she noticed a silhouette of a person sitting in the balcony. it wasn't late or anything; only half past 9.

her trip to the kitchen was soon discarded as she went to see who was sat outside.

'if you get killed olivia, it'll be all your fault', the voice in her head warned herself.

she walked up to the balcony door, opening it slightly, not trying to make a sound. she leant against the door frame, "hello?"

the silhouette turned around, revealing chase, "hey"

"what's up?"

"nothing"

"then why're outside? aren't you a bit cold?", olivia approached him and then sat down next to him.

"that's why i've got a blanket. but it's not even that cold", he shrugged.

"chase.. what's wrong?", olivia asked, becoming a little bit more concerned.

"nothing's wrong", he said flatly.

"chase, you're like one of my best friends. i know when something's wrong with you"

he stayed quiet.

there was silence for a few seconds before olivia asked, "is it cynthia?"

"was it that obvious?", chase sighed.

"maybe not to everyone else. but i could tell something was off between you guys."

about a minute later, chase spoke, "did i do something?"

"what do you mean?"

"cynthia's been with everyone and not me. have i done something wrong?"

"if it makes you feel any better, she hasn't been with me?", olivia joked, only earning a weak smile from the boy.

"i don't know chase... look, maybe she's just trying to get a little break. give her some time. or if you genuinely feel like you've done nothing wrong and she's ignoring you for no reason, talk to her about?"

he nodded in response. "thanks liv, what would i do without you? love you", he said, embracing me in a tight hug.

"i- uh love you too... buddy?", she stuttered, hugging him back.
