The year that has passed since her family forced her to relocate to the outer banks in order to begin a new life has been a very long one. Despite the fact that Dawn had always desired a new beginning, she was living in the same sort of lifestyle before she arrived to Figure 8.
It's also been a year since her parents made the decision to enter her into a relationship and to take control of her life.
His name was Tait Van Doren, and he was the worst jerk of the century. He believed that everyone was beneath him. On the other hand, for some reason, her parents were completely smitten with him, and she detested him and his awful attitude.
"It is beyond my comprehension why it is necessary for us to spend dinner with your family every Saturday." While they were sitting at the country club, he put his arm around the girl's shoulder.
"Due to the fact that they are my family, Tait and I also love them." The words come out of Dawn's mouth as she turns around to face him, and he simply rolls his eyes.
"We could be doing literally anything else," Tait whispered this as he squeezed her waist. Under his touch, she shifts in an exceedingly uncomfortable manner and gives him a smile that is forced.
"What we are doing right now is a family tradition, and I have no problem with it," she said. Having to be in close proximity to him caused her chest to constrict, and she had the sensation that she was going to burst from the anguish.
"Pumpkin, There you are!" Ovalie Francis says as she approaches the table: her phone is on the other side, her sunglasses rested on top of her head with a bag in hand. Gideon Francis trailing closely after closed.
"Hello mother." Dawn replies as she gets from the table to hug the blonde lady. Tait also came up and kissed her mother on the cheek and shook hands to her father.
"You two are picture-perfect, aren't you?" Dawn merely grinned as her mother raved, prompting Tait to re-encircle her. Afterwards, they returned to their seats at the table.
"So Tait, how's school going? Are you staying really busy?" Gideon questioned while he sipped his drink.
"Things are working out better than I expected; I'm at the very top of my class, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be awarded that scholarship soonโthough I see that some Pogue is also competing for it." As he brought up the Pogues, he clenched his jaw and spoke. As a result of their treatment of them, Dawn rolled her eyes.
Pogues vs Kook, They were all just regular folks living in a community, so Dawn never got why one wanted to act so superior. "There should be more men like you in the world, thus it would be great if you could get the scholarship." Dawn merely grinned and played along with her father's perfect picture story.
"How about we join Topper and Sarah at the boneyard for this party this evening?" Tait whispered to her. The most obnoxious pair she had ever encountered in her whole life were Sarah Cameron and Topper Thornton. While Sarah was fine and all, Topper is just waiting for someone to hit him in the face.
"Sure, we can do that. That sounds awesome." When Dawn needs a break from the busy life, she can easily relax on a beach with friends her own age, which is something she truly enjoyed doing.
What could possibly go wrong?

Dawn watched the sun fall over the ocean; the sight was breathtaking. Behind her, she could make out the sound of yelling, screaming, and laughter. Tourons, Pogues, and Kooks.
"Would you like another drink? I'm going to get one." Just as he was about to leave, Tait spoke as he stood next to their mutual buddy. She glanced back at him, nodded and then turned to face the sun.
"Are you alright, Dawn?"Sarah Cameron, who appeared nearly flawless, stood behind her as she turned around. Sarah Cameron, the cherished heiress of the Cameron family, was unexpectedly present at one of these occasions, which she usually despised.
"Umm, I'm fine, I was just thinking." She turned around, folded her arms over her chest, and grinned, allowing her sundress to flutter in the wind.
"And what about?" Sarah got closer towards her and asked. Dawn separated her lips and glanced at the blonde girl.
"I wonder what it would be like if I didn't hold myself to such a high standard and didn't have such high expectations for life." Upon turning her gaze, she beheld Tait standing alongside an unfamiliar ladโa boy with curly hair and a bandana tied around his neckโwhom she had never encountered before. "So, who is that?"
"Don't be concerned about John B. Routledgeโhis a Pogue." She couldn't help but roll her eyes in disgust when Topper Thornton cut them off in the middle of their talk. However, she couldn't help but stare at John B.
He paused briefly, a smile gradually appearing on his face, as Dawn watched him stare up at her. Without missing a beat, she whirled around to face the shore again, but this time, her expression was one of pure joy.

- Our introduction to this story, we won't get into the main storyline until the next few chapters so please hang in there. Tait is on the line for a scholarship just like my favourite Pogue Pope Heyward. Keep that in mind for future reference
