Soon enough Friday evening came, and in celebration of Olivia getting her driver's license for her sixteenth birthday, Joshua allowed her to drive his car to her party.

"Come on, Liv, we're going to be late to your own party if you don't start the car," Joshua whined, the two having sat there for a good five minutes as Olivia insisted he drive his own car because she didn't want to possibly wreck it, but he trusted her more than she knew.

"Ugh, fine! But only because you're peer pressuring me," Olivia gave in, Joshua snickering as she turned the key to start the ignition. She adjusted the mirrors and seat before pulling out of the driveway of the house her family was staying in, following the sound of Siri's voice to get to the rink.

Once they arrived and Olivia parked the car, she turned it off and handed Joshua his keys. "Thanks for letting me drive, it was pretty good practice."

"No prob, and thanks for not crashing it," Joshua laughed. "Let's get a picture to document this moment." He pulled out a camera and snapped a picture of Olivia behind the wheel, the two giggling at their silliness while watching the picture develop.

"Ah, there it goes!" Joshua pointed to the picture as it began to get clearer.

"Ooh! Let me see!" Olivia reached over to try and grab it from his hand, but he held his arm out the window so she couldn't reach. She groaned as she crawled from her seat to his, her arm outstretched to try and grab the picture, but instead she lost her grip on her seat and fell into Joshua's lap, the two laughing harder.

"Okay, okay, here, enjoy my art," Joshua handed her the picture, Olivia once again reaching out to grab it, this time pausing once she realized her fingers were brushing against his. She suddenly felt her cheeks flush, and she quickly grabbed the picture and ran out of the car before he would hopefully notice.

Unfortunately for her, he did, although he didn't know what it meant, so he shrugged it off and followed her inside after locking the car.

"Happy birthday Olivia!" Their friends exclaimed as the two walked in, Olivia grinning as she raced over to their table.

"We've got a surprise for you," Dara winked, the group separating to reveal a figure behind them.

Olivia's eyes watered and widened when she realized who it was, and before she knew it, she was jumping into their arms and wrapping her arms around them, sobbing into their shoulder.

"I can't believe you made it! I thought you said you had Bizaardvark stuff!" Olivia cried.

"I did, but I got out of it to see you, especially since Josh bought me a plane ticket, because you're more important," Madison grinned, hugging her best friend once again. "I couldn't miss your big sixteenth!"

Olivia pulled away, turning around to smile up at Joshua, her eyes saying more than words could in that moment.

"Okay come on, let's go skate!" Frankie insisted, the group grabbing some skates and heading out onto the floor.

After an hour or so of skating, Olivia's feet grew tired and she could feel blisters forming, so she explained to Madison her situation before skating off to sit at their table to rest her feet.

The others were busy enjoying themselves skating and singing along to various songs the radio played. While jamming out to Radioactive, Joshua noticed Olivia sitting by herself, and before he knew it he was skating over to her direction and sitting down next to her.

"You okay?" He asked as he took off his own skates.

"Yeah, just trying to rest my feet since I'm getting blisters," Olivia replied.

"That sucks."

"Yeah," Olivia nodded. "You don't have to stay with me, go out there and enjoy yourself."

"I can't enjoy myself when the birthday girl is sitting out at her own party," Joshua replied. "And besides, my feet probably deserve a break anyway."

Olivia laughed. "Thanks, Joshy."

The two continued to talk, getting to know each other better and talked about anything and everything that came to mind. Somehow, the conversation topic changed to social media, and by the end of the night, the two strange teens put parental controls on each other's pages.

"Okay, haha very funny, now put in the password so I can go on Instagram," Olivia said after he did so, and as she was going to hand it over to him, he dropped it on the floor. The two bent down to grab it at the same time, their hands brushing against each other's. Olivia felt her face flush again, Joshua laughing it off, as their friends came to join them to eat food and chat.

While doing so, whether it was subconscious or not, something made Olivia put her hand down on the seat, and something made Joshua's inch close to hers. Soon enough their fingers and legs brushed against one another's, his pinky on top of hers. The two weren't sure what the small gestures meant, but they did know it made them smile.

A/N: sorry for not updating in a couple of weeks, i've been kinda busy, and will be again this week because this thursday is my birthday and i'm also going on a college tour this friday of the university of miami so! yeet!

kinda funny i wrote a birthday chapter the week of my own?? lol and sorry if this was cHeEsY and cLiChE, it's me and should be expected
