⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧•• happy birthday!
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
── .✦ EVERYBODY WAS FREE, nobody was locked away or forbidden from entering anywhere. It was exactly how it was supposed to be, and Freddie and Ben couldn't be happier. To be honest, they were probably more over the moon about it than the actual people on the Isle.
After a night of partying with Gil and Harry, Freddie found himself fast asleep on his bed in the awkwardest position to ever exist. But, he was comfortably... until, somebody woke him up.
"Hey, is that waffles?" A voice yelled and Freddie jumped out of his bed, falling head-first onto the fortunately carpeted floor with a thud.
"Ow." Freddie groaned, sliding onto the floor completely with his hand holding onto the side of his head. A body hovered over him, and a hand was held out to him, when Frederic saw the medium blue blazer sleeve, he knew it was Ben, "There is no pancakes, is there?"
"Nope, they're downstairs. Waiting for you to devour them." Ben chuckled, helping his best-friend stand up and Freddie squeezed his eyes shut, feeling a hangover coming on.
"That sounds wrong on so many levels." Freddie chuckled despite the sharp pains in the side of his head. Ben shook his head, rolling his eyes playfully as he watched his friend stumble over to his dresser, pulling out random clothes.
"God, let me help you." Ben walked over and pulled out a neatly folded suit. A completely different suit to the one he'd usually wear. Instead of purple, it was pink with razzle-dazzle writing on the back saying "it's my birthday, it's my birthday, i'mma spend my money." It was something Freddie would've totally said.
"Oh, yeah, I'm definitely going to be spending my money." Freddie grinned suggestively towards Ben, who groaned, placing the pink suit into Frederic's arms.
"Meet me at the courtyard in ten, all right?" Ben asked, taking slow steps backwards towards the door and Freddie nodded with a grin on his face, pulling his shirt over his head to change, "No, shower first!" Ben facepalmed, shaking his head in disbelief as he left the room completely and Freddie nodded, walking over to the bathroom to shower.
After he got out, he changed, combed his hair a little and ran his fingers along the stubble that began to grow along his jaw. He didn't know whether to shave it or let it grow, so he was going to ask Evie for her input.
He made his way down the stairs, other students smiling at him on his way towards the courtyard, some students even having the confidence to wish him a happy birthday which just made his day. In the courtyard sat Evie and Gil with a whole table of breakfast in front of them.
"Hope you're hungry." Gil smirked over at him, watching as Freddie sat down in the chair beside Evie faster than lightning, already digging into the food to soak up all of the alcohol in his system, "Well, that answers my question."
"You're eating like a dog, Frederic." A female voice sounded, footsteps approaching. Only one person called him Frederic so naturally, his mom. Gil moved his head, and there she was. Her hair was slightly longer and wavy, her green eyes brighter than ever and her skin glowing as if she'd never aged.
"Mom!" Frederic dropped the half-eaten pancake that was in his hand and jumped up, rushing over and throwing his arms around his shoulders in happiness. Evie and Gil stood from the table, watching with smiles.
A hand was placed on Freddie's shoulder, and he looked up, his eyes locking with his father's and he could've sworn he felt tears spill over his eyes in that moment. He took one of his arms away from his mother and held it out towards his Dad, who immediately engulfed both his son and his wife in a huge, warm embrace.
They stood like that for a minute or two until Rapunzel pulled away, smiling up at Frederic with her hands on either sides of his face, "I missed you, my handsome boy. You too, Evie." She turned to look at Evie, and Eugene grinned, holding his arm out to Evie just like Rapunzel's parents had to him all those years ago.
Evie giggled and rushed over, wrapping her arms around them eagerly and Freddie felt his heart warm, hugging the three people he loved the most in the entire universe. He turned his head and pressed a gentle kiss to the top of the blue-haired girl's head, and her cheeks went pink, feeling a little flustered.
Ben walked over, a birthday headband in his hand spelling the words 'Birthday Prince' and he cleared his throat, causing the four to pull away and look over at him, "Sorry to ruin the moment, but it's time." The King grinned and Freddie turned his head, looking at every one of them with his eyebrows scrunched in confusion.
"Time for what?" Finally, he turned to Evie, whose expression was screaming with excitement, she bounced up and down on her heels and her wide smile told him it was something she'd planned, "What did you do, princess?"
"Shh, it's a surprise. Come on." Evie grabbed his hand and dragged him past Ben, heading towards the way Ben had come from. They made their way to the courtyard and a limo, Mal's purple limousine, was sat outside with the door open as if it was waiting for him.
"Where are we going?" Freddie questioned, he loved surprises but he hated the suspense, he just wanted to know what was going on. Evie rolled her eyes playfully, giggling lightly as she pushed him forwards towards the open door. He looked back at her, and saw Ben, his mom, his Dad and Gil all stood behind her, causing him to smile softly.
Turning back around again, he headed into the limousine and sat in the furthest corner, looking around at the crazy decorations inside. His friends were insane, he knew that for sure. There were banners hanging above every window and even the window between the passengers and the drivers.
Confetti was scattered everywhere, on the seats, on the floor and in the candy, causing Freddie to scrunch his nose up in annoyance. Evie came into the doorway, and he looked away, watching as she climbed in, the door closing behind her.
She sat beside him, fixing her skirt once she was comfortable and she crossed her legs before she looked over at him, only to realise he was already watching her intently. He smiled, a smile that only showed love and affection, "Did I mention that you look beautiful?"
Evie shook her head, glancing down at her dress for a split second before she stared back up into his eyes and he lifted his arm, placing it around her shoulders, scooting closer as the limousine began to move. Their faces inched closer, and Evie felt her heart begin to race in her chest, feeling suddenly flustered though they'd kissed a million times before.
"Did I mention... that I'm in love with you?" Frederic whispered once their lips hovered over each other and Evie felt her breath hitch in the back of her throat, a smile making its way onto her lips. Unable to stay serious, Freddie began to laugh at himself, Evie doing the same, "I don't know why, but when I said that, all I could think about was Ben twerking on the tourney field."
"You're so weird!" Evie nudged his shoulder with a giggle, but she was unable to take her eyes away from his. He smirked, his eyes scanning all over her face, just to take in her extreme beauty before he looked back into her eyes.
"But you love me."
"I do." She whispered, and leaned up, wasting no more time by pressing her lips into his passionately and he kissed her back, loving the feeling of her on him. Her hands trailed up his pink blazer, and she gripped onto his collar, pulling him closer.
Freddie placed his own hands on her hips, the dark blue sequins stabbing his hands but he didn't mind it, continuing to move his lips in sync with hers. Suddenly, the limo came to a halt, causing them to pull away and he looked out the window, seeing nothing but a brick wall, "Ironic." He muttered to himself, rolling his eyes.
He turned back to Evie when the door opened, revealing an overly ecstatic Jay, "We have arrived, sir." The long-haired boy put on a posh accent and placed his hands behind his back, waiting for them to exit the vehicle and Freddie chuckled, climbing out of the limousine.
Before he could greet his friend, he held his hand out for his girlfriend, and smiled when she placed her hand in his, allowing him to help her out. Once she was safely stable, Jay closed the door and smiled wide at the prince.
"Happy Birthday, man!" Jay dapped him, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and Frederic chuckled, embracing him back.
"Thanks, Jay." Freddie pulled away from the hug and glanced around, noticing them to be in a place they'd been in before. It was the Isle, "Nostalgia." He muttered and Evie giggled, wrapping an arm around his waist.
"We'll see you there, Jay." Evie waved at her non-biological brother and Frederic smiled at them before they turned around, making their way down an alleyway. It looked almost exactly the same as when he'd walked down it before, just cleaner, happier, "I spoke to your parents about something, and they thought it'd sound better coming from me."
"What is it?" Freddie questioned, his arm around her shoulders and a small smile on his face, wanting nothing more than for it to be good news. He couldn't handle another bad thing happening after all of the terrible news he'd received since he was little.
"They want to step down, and they want you to be King of Corona." Evie blurted out, knowing it was better to just say it straight instead of dragging it on and Frederic's eyes widened in shock. He knew it was coming, and that it was only a matter of time, his smile grew, more than excited to finally have a chance to do some good for the people he loved.
Not knowing what to say, he stayed quiet as they strolled down the alleyway, that was until Freddie's face lit up in realisation and the corner of his lips upturned into a smirk, "Hey, I have an idea." He announced and they stopped in front of Ursula's Fish and Chips, Evie's eyebrows furrowed, "How about... you become my Queen?"
Evie's expression softened immediately at his words, and she grinned, feeling herself becoming excited, "Really? Me? Frederic Fitzherbert's Queen?"
"Corona's Queen." Freddie corrected respectfully, chuckling at her enthusiasm and she jumped up and down, holding onto the sides of his face with the biggest smile he'd ever seen, "Careful, princess." He gripped onto her waist as he watched her almost trip over her own feet, and she giggled, unbothered about that.
"I love you." Evie mumbled, her overexcitement calming down just a little and he grinned, his thumb caressing the fabric of her dress.
"I love you more. Now, I'm ready for my surprise." Freddie kept one of his hands on her hips as he guided her inside the restaurant, which was quiet at first until they entered and the lights switched on, every single person that he loved jumping out from behind tables and chairs, and even from behind the bar at the front of the room.
"Happy Birthday!" They all exclaimed with laughs, and someone blew a whistle before two arms made their way around his shoulders. It was Carlos and Ben, his two closest friends, and he couldn't be happier in that moment.
All this time he assumed his friends didn't care about him, even though he brushed it off, he still had those thoughts lingering in the back of his mind. In reality, his friends did love him, more than anything, and all he really needed to do was see the light.
The kind, loving and caring light that made up his friends, his family, and his soon-to-be blue-haired Queen.
