── .✦ IT WAS FINALLY THE DAY, the day that the new arrivals would be picked from the Isle. Only Carlos, Evie, Mal and Jay went, meaning that Ben and Freddie stayed behind, and despite his clear reluctance, Freddie was stuck in his dorm most of the day, studying for an upcoming Math exam.
It was around two in the afternoon when he had heard a light knock on his door and a smile immediately appeared on his lips, knowing who was on the other side — only one person knocked in that way. He placed his pencil down and pushed himself out of his chair, making his way towards the door and he opened it to reveal his blue-haired girlfriend on the other side, grinning excitedly from ear-to-ear.
"Hey, boo." Evie leaned forward and kissed his cheek before walking past him and into his quiet dorm, her eyes instantly locking on the hundreds of workbooks on his desk, "Wow, someone's been busy."
Freddie closed his door as she sat herself down in his desk chair, and he nodded with a tired chuckle, making his way towards her, "Yup. Math sucks."
"I can help, if you want?" Evie looked up at him, moving a strand away from her face and he leaned his backside against the edge of the desk, his arms crossed over his chest as he looked down at her, a small smile on his face.
"You don't have to." He stared into her eyes, almost getting lost in them and his blink brought him back. That always happened, he always caught himself swimming in her beautiful hazel orbs every time he looked at her and there was a part of him that begged to be able to stare at her without looking like a day-dreaming weirdo.
"But I want to." She flipped her long hair over her shoulder and turned in the chair, opening up one of his notebooks to see his extremely illegible scribbles everywhere, "Woah..." She flipped through the various pages with wide eyes, unable to contain her shock and a giggle erupted from her lips.
"This should count as bullying." Frederic muttered, pushing himself off of the desk and she shook her head, trying to hide her smile.
"No, it's good. I'm just not sure how you're gonna be able to read this." Evie closed the notebook and turned in her chair again to find him sat on the edge of his bed with his back to her, looking more miserable than ever. She let out a sigh and stood up, making her way towards him before gracefully taking a seat beside him.
His hands were in his lap, and he was staring at Chad's bed sheets when he felt Evie's hands slither into his, her thumbs caressing the skin on the back of his hand. A smirk tugged at his lips as he looked up from the bed and at her, to find she was smiling too.
"Sorry." She whispered, tilting her head a little and his eyebrows pinched in confusion. He quickly shook his head, his eyes accidentally drifting down to her beyond gorgeous outfit before he snapped them back up to her eyes.
"No, it's fine. I know my handwriting's unreadable—" He started when she scrunched her own brows, holding tighter onto his hands.
"Freddie, I'm not talking about the handwriting." She shuffled closed, a sad smile now visible on her lips and Frederic shook his head, clearly bewildered about what she meant, "I'm sorry I haven't been there for you, I didn't know about all the things that were going on with your—"
"I love you." Frederic interrupted, his face inches from hers and she froze, her eyes widened and her jaw slightly ajar. To be completely honest, she didn't have a clue what to say, or think. So, instead of replying to his words, she blinked a few times, looking down to their hands, and that was when his confidence was shattered, "Oh... Don't feel pressured to say it back, I just wanted you to know."
"Yeah, thank you." Evie let go of his hands out of awkwardness and pushed herself up, wiping down her skirt before she spun around, taking a few subtle steps back, "I've actually got class, so, I'll see you later."
"Okay then. See you." Frederic watched with a defeated look as she practically ran out of the room, and he wiped his eyes quickly, knowing that it was a Saturday. He most definitely ruined the moment, and he hated himself for it, he just wished he would've been patient. Stupid.
He didn't even get to ask her how the trip to the Isle went, there were so many things he wanted to talk about with her, and he just went and wrecked the whole thing. Blowing all of the air into his cheeks out of stress, Freddie stood up from the bed and quickly grabbed his phone before he left the dorm, hoping that Ben would give him some advice.

WHEN HE ARRIVED AT BEN'S DORM, he knocked twice, thinking nothing of it until loud shuffling could be heard inside. A smile played on Freddie's lips as the door flew open, revealing his half-naked best-friend, "Lovely."
"Not the best time." Ben muttered with a heavy exhale, clearly out of breath and Frederic chuckled with wide eyes, nodding in agreement.
"All right, my bad for interrupting your jiggy time. Bye, Mal!" Freddie grinned, ignoring Ben's glare and turned on his heels to walk back down the corridor when he heard a yelp from inside the dorm.
"Bye!" Mal exclaimed and Freddie chuckled, walking down the corridor and the dorm door closed. There was only one other person that he felt comfortable talking to, no offence to Jay, but that dude really didn't understand the concept of falling in love with a girl.
Freddie found Carlos where he expected him to be, sat in the courtyard with Dude in his lap, playing on his Nintendo. Frederic quietly strolled over and sat across from him on the bench, his arms resting on the table in front of him. Carlos slowly looked up from the tiny screen displaying Mario Kart and he smiled wide when he saw the Prince.
"Oh, hey." Carlos placed the device down onto the table and picked up his apple juice, taking a quick sip as he waited for Frederic to respond, but when he didn't, he furrowed his brows, "What's up?"
"I told Evie I loved her." Freddie admitted, and it felt like a weight lifted from his shoulders because he finally had the opportunity to speak to someone about it. He hated keeping his feelings to himself.
"Wow, dude, that's great!" Carlos chuckled, clearly happy for his friend but when Freddie didn't smile even the tiniest bit in response, his own grin dropped, knowing something was up, "Or not..."
"I think I ruined everything." Frederic placed his face in his hands, his elbows propped up on the table and Carlos reached forwards, placing on of his hands on his forearm comfortingly.
"Hey, that's impossible. Maybe she just got cold feet, or she needs time to process it? Fred, bro, Evie talks about you every chance she gets, don't think she doesn't love you back because she definitely does." Carlos patted Freddie's forearm gently before he pulled his hand away, petting Dude's head instead.
"She never shuts up!" Dude complained and Frederic let out a chuckle into his hands, wiping his eyes gently.
"Yeah, maybe you're right. She probably just needs space." He moved his hands away from his face, nodding continuously, trying to convince himself that it was in fact that and not something else. He wiped his hands on his trousers and squeezed his eyes shut for a moment before he looked over at Carlos with a smile, "How're things with Jane?"
"Oh, yeah! They're great. She's always busy so we haven't had much time to spend together but we make the most out of the time we do have." Carlos was positive about the outlooks on his relationship with Jane, if that's what you'd call it, a relationship and Frederic couldn't help but grin from ear-to-ear about Carlos' happiness.
"I'm happy for you, Carlos. You're amazing together." Frederic complimented and stuffed his hands in his blazer pockets even though it wasn't cold whatsoever out there.
"Thanks, dude. Not you, Dude. I should probably stop calling people 'dude'." Carlos chuckled to himself and Frederic laughed, nodding in agreement.
"That would be a good idea."
If Evie didn't love him, or didn't feel strong enough to admit it, Freddie would always support that and accept it but, he was so sure that she felt the same way in return. He knew her, he knew how loving and caring she was, so what happened?
