── .✦ JUST AN HOUR later into that day, Freddie was sat in his dorm room on the floor, leaning against Chad's bed as his mother sat on her son's bed. For a while, they were just speaking about life and how they were both doing until Freddie decided to ruin the mood.
"Are you and Dad getting a divorce?" Freddie asked randomly and Rapunzel was taken aback by his bluntness for just a moment until she instantly replied.
"No? Who gave you that idea, sweetheart?" She tilted her head, her eyebrows furrowed with pure concern and confusion and Freddie let out a sigh of relief. No matter how many problems he had with his dad at the moment, he wanted his mother to be happy, even if it was with him.
"It was just a rumour, I just wanted to make sure." He shrugged, fiddling with the sleeves of his light-blue button-up shirt and his knees were propped up, his arms resting on them, "So, you guys are okay?"
"Uh... Well, not exactly. That's why I came." Rapunzel winced as she spoke, knowing her words would hurt him but she couldn't keep it from him, he deserved to know what was going on. Freddie sat up straighter, his ears ready to listen in, "Your father's been cursed."
"What? By who?" He scrunched his brows, pushing himself up from the floor and he sat beside her on the bed, clearly concerned. If it was true, it would answer all of his questions as to why his father has suddenly become so angered.
"You see, that's what I'm unsure about, all I know is that it's someone from the Isle. That's why he was so angry that day." She stared at her hands, it was obvious that she was pained by something, even possibly irritated. Freddie reached out after noticing her change in demeanour and he placed his hands in hers, trying everything in his will to comfort his mother the way she comforted him throughout his childhood.
"Did something else happen after I left?" His voice was as quiet as a whisper as he asked, he wanted nothing more than to make his mother feel cared for and happier than ever, his father too.
"Yes, that's how I know. Do you remember the stories of how I met your father? How I was locked in a tower by a woman named Gothel?" Rapunzel finally looked away from her hands and stared into her son's eyes, her own eyes were watered and full of hurt.
"I remember." Freddie nodded, gesturing for her to continue and his brows were furrowed in not only concentration on the words that were escaping her lips, but also curiosity.
"She used to tell me these stories growing up about how she had a child with a sorcerer of some sort. She stopped telling me them once I could start to talk, expecting I'd forget but I never did." She explained and Freddie looked off into the distance in thought, he had no idea who it could be. But he knew who would.

FREDDIE WAS RUSHING DOWN the hallway, slithering through the crowds of students when he saw Carlos, Jay, Mal and Evie stood in a huddle at the end of the open corridor, "Guys!" Freddie called out in a hurry, rushing towards them and all four VKs looked over at him, their faces full of concern.
"Hey, dude." Jay greeted with a friendly smile, clearly a little worried about why the prince was rushing with such determination.
"Are you okay?" Evie asked in a soft tone, placing her hand on his arm as he stopped rushing, taking a minute to regain his breathing considering he'd been running for so long.
"Yeah. I just need to ask you guys something. Do you know any sorcerers on the Isle?" Freddie questioned through his deep breathing, and he placed his hands on his knees as Evie rubbed his back comfortingly.
It was silent for a moment until Jay spoke up, "My dad..." The much stronger-looking boy looked at Freddie with intrigue and the aforementioned prince looked up, his eyebrows raised.
"Do you know if he had any kids before you?" Freddie questioned bluntly, finally standing up straight. He ignored the weird looks he received from the three others and focused on Jay, really desperate for at least a half-decent answer.
"Uh, well... He fell in love with someone before my mom so, yeah, it could be possible. Why?" Jay tilted his head in questioning, and he reached his hand up, quickly scratching the back of his neck.
"I'll tell you later. Thanks, Jay." Freddie leaned over and swiftly pressed a kiss to Evie's cheek before he ran off back to his dorm to tell his mother the information he had found.
He wasn't entirely sure why Rapunzel thought the best idea was to tell her sixteen-year-old son about his father being cursed over someone like Fairy Godmother. He supposed he was the most trustworthy person, but he couldn't do much other than acquire information and was that really useful?
The door to his dorm burst open and there appeared a very exhausted Freddie. But he was quickly cured when he saw his mother sat on his bed beside Chad, the two talking about something that looked to be wholesome, the both of them smiling.
Freddie cleared his throat, and Rapunzel looked over at him with a grin, "Sorry, Frederic, I was just catching up with Chad here. The last time I'd spoken to him was when you just moved here."
"That was so long ago." Chad responded in a very forceful deep voice, attempting to sound as friendly as possible and Rapunzel was falling for it, but Freddie wasn't having one bit of it.
"Could we have some— You know what, it doesn't even matter." Freddie rushed over to his laptop that was sat on the desk and sat down in his desk chair, opening up his laptop to research about Jay's father, "It's Jafar."
"What?" Rapunzel turned to her son, completely forgetting Chad's presence and she stood up gracefully, making her way over to stand behind Freddie, watching the laptop screen.
"Gothel went on trips right? Sometimes they took over a week?" Frederic asked, quickly typing in Jafar lore and Chad just sat in confusion, his eyebrows pinched as he watched them.
"Yes, she never told me where she went. But, it could be possible she travelled all the way to Agrabah." She shrugged, her words were spoken unsurely but there was a possibility, so it was worth letting him know. Freddie just nodded and he clicked on a certain website, scanning through the text before he saw 'First Love'.
First Love
It was said that Jafar had a past lover before he had his son who is known as Jay. There's no evidence, nor has Jafar claimed this himself but others have reported to have seen a woman with voluminous, curly black hair and olive skin. Nobody of royal connection fits this description as we know, but anybody could wear a wig and impersonate another.
"She abandoned her own child just for youth." Rapunzel scoffed, taking a step away to focus her eyes on the natural light after staring at the blue light for longer than she could handle.
"Wasn't she, like, a hundred or something?" Freddie turned his body in the chair, scrunching his brows. What he was saying did make sense, Gothel was old, crippled and grey, and Jafar isn't, so it didn't add up.
"The flower must've made her younger in a sense that she could give birth. The only reason she took me in the first place was because my mother needed the flower." Rapunzel paced a little and then Frederic looked over at Chad, giving him a look of disbelief.
"Dude, why are you still here?" The older Prince was clearly irritated but Chad wasn't fazed, he just shrugged, standing up and sitting on his own bed.
"It's my dorm too." Chad sent him a teasing tight-lipped smile and picked up his phone, intensely checking for messages from Audrey, "So, you guys gonna go to the Isle and not tell Fairy Godmother?"
"This is family business, Chad. I hope you will respect that." Rapunzel pointed at the dirty blonde with a scolding motherly look, and Chad nodded submissively, glancing over at Freddie who raised his brows teasingly in return for Chad's teasing just a minute prior, "He's right, we're going to have to go to the Isle with your father."
Freddie squeezed his eyes shut at his words and let out a sigh of what seemed to be annoyance. He turned back around in his chair and ran his hands down his face, it was possibly exhaustion just thinking about having to go back to the isle to save someone else — that someone else being his own dad.
"I'll call Evie." As much as he didn't want to put Evie in harm's way another time, he felt he had no choice. If anything, all he really needed her for was her parents' outfits, though he could do them himself, it was the perfect way to tell her about it all.
