── .✦ SHORTLY AFTER Ben left, he came back down the stairs, and the four stood up straight, looking over, expecting Mal to be with him but he was alone, reaching the bottom of the steps with a sad expression.
"So?" Evie asked, peeking her head around the railing with a confused look, "Where's Mal?"
"She's not coming back." Ben replied, ducking his head under the closing gate, he glanced over at Freddie, a tear dropping from his eye and the aforementioned prince looked down to his boots, saddened by Mal's decision.
"What?" Evie questioned in disbelief, turning around as Ben walked off, "I'll talk to her."
"Ben." Freddie called out for his best-friend who was walking down the alleyway, and Ben held his hand up to the boy, motioning he wanted to be left alone so Freddie nodded, respecting his wishes as he walked back over to the wall, leaning against it again, watching Evie talk into an old rusty speaker.
"M? Mal, it's Evie. Let me just talk to you for a second. Mal, come on." Evie pleaded before shuffling was heard on the other side.
"Go away!" Mal yelled, and Evie sighed heavily in defeat as Jay pulled her arm back gently.
"Let's give her a couple hours to cool off." Jay suggested, and Evie nodded.
"Guys! Where's Ben?" Carlos called out, catching their attention and Jay and Evie walked over to the white-haired boy as Freddie pushed himself off the wall in worry.
"Ben?" Evie asked through the eery dark, and Freddie moved closer in front of them all, trying to look down the alley for his friend out of concern as they noticed someone who resembled Ben walking towards them, "Ben!"
"Ben, you almost made me shit my pants." Freddie exhaled in relief, placing his hands on his knees.
The person laughed loudly, walking into the light with a smirk, "I never thought a prince could make me laugh, well done." The voice was Scottish, causing Freddie to jump back behind Jay beside Evie, he'd never heard a Scottish accent before, and it was pretty intimidating.
"Harry..." Evie introduced unintentionally, tilting her head out of disbelief and pure hatred towards the dude.
"What did you do with Ben?" Jay threateningly asked, taking a step forward and that was when Freddie realised that he must've taken Ben, causing the prince to move forward in anger.
"Oh, uh, we nicked him. Mmm-hmm." He pointed down the alleyway, and then he looked at Freddie without fear, "Yeah, um, and if you want to see him again have Mal come to the Chip Shoppe tonight. Alone. Uma wants a little visit. Aw, Jay. Seems like you've lost your touch."
Carlos held Freddie back as the boy went to jump at Harry, and Jay took an angry step forward, causing Evie to hold onto him, stopping him, "Jay."
Harry laughed before he looked over at Carlos, barking and when he didn't recieve his expected reaction, he spun on his heels, walking off back down the alley whilst he whistled.
"Okay, who in the hell was that? And why was he so scary?" Freddie asked, causing Evie to chuckle before she strolled over to him as Jay began climbing the railing on the side of the steps, guiding her lover over to Carlos, who was climbing up behind Jay.
"You don't want to know." Jay spoke loudly, reaching the top of the steps quickly and Freddie nodded, believing him.

"IF YOU GUYS never would have brought him here this never would have happened." Mal scolded her three villain friends like a mother angry at her children as Freddie sat on the couch munching on a decade old candy bar, "What were you thinking? Bringing him too?" Mal pointed over at Freddie, and Freddie gave them a look as to say 'what did I do?'.
"He was gonna come with or without us, and Freddie's been no trouble, we all just wanted to protect him." Evie reasoned and Mal's jaw dropped as she went to protest but Carlos stepped forward, beating her to it.
"Yeah. And we completely blew it." Carlos told Evie, who placed her hands on her hips in defeat.
"Okay! Okay, so what are we gonna do?" Jay asked, defusing the situation, wishing nothing more than to join Freddie chilling on the coach.
"We are not doing anything." Mal pointed between herself and her friends, and walked down the small set of steps towards them, "This is between Uma and me, and she's a punk. And guess what, now I have to go get him."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Mal, you're still gonna have to go through Harry Hook and his wharf rats." Carlos stated and Freddie's eyes widened in realisation as he looked away from them in shock, he didn't expect that to be Hook's son... actually, he sort of did.
"Yeah, you're gonna need us." Jay told her, but she just shook her head in response, looking to Carlos.
"Uma said to come alone." She responded, clearly unafraid of Uma and her terrifying friends.
"Mal, come on." Evie tilted her head at her best-friend, who just stared back, uncaring of it all.
"She said to come alone." Carlos repeated to Evie, backing Mal up, "I know one thing, I'm not going anywhere." He added, throwing himself back onto the couch beside Freddie and he took the nougat bar from his hands, taking a bite out of it before scrunching his face up in disgust, spitting the nougat back out on the floor beside his feet, "Gross!"
"We'll be here when you get back." Jay told Mal, who just stared for a moment before she turned around, walking towards the exit, her heels clicking on the ground.
"Where'd you even get that from?" Carlos asked watching in disgust as Freddie chewed on the mouldy nougat, and the boy just shrugged.
"Stole it off of some hairy dude. Probably been in his butt but who knows?" He chuckled at himself as he took another bite of the candy and the three watched him with absolute vile looks on their faces.
"Remind me to never kiss you again." Evie rolled her eyes and Freddie's eyes widened, throwing the half-eaten bar behind him, and it hit the wall with a thud.
"Well, let's hope you forget because I'm not reminding you." He placed his hands in his lap and Evie spun on her heels, sending him a playful glare, causing him to quickly wink at her in response as Jay and Carlos just watched their interaction, filled with confusion.
Eventually, after a while of chatting, Mal returned without Ben, causing Freddie to groan loudly and after Mal explained what Uma's deal was, he bent over, his face in his hands, "There is no way we're gonna give Uma the wand. We can't just let her destroy Auradon." Evie stepped forward in shock.
"Uma doesn't get the wand, then Ben is toast, guys." Jay added, holding his hand out in reasoning beside Freddie on the coach.
"A burnt noodle." Freddie remarked in a muffled voice, speaking into his hands. He wasn't even sure what to do at that point, he was just glad he knew karate, thanks to his father.
"Great, so we're going to give Uma, of all people, the wand?" Evie asked the three boys, and they all spoke over one another when Mal interrupted.
"Wait, you guys. Your 3D printer." Mal suggested, and Freddie's ears perked up at the sound of a device he'd never heard nor seen before.
"A phony wand." Carlos added, pointing his fingers towards Mal as if she was a genius, which she pretty much was, "In my sleep."
"Yeah, but the second Uma tests it, she'll know it's fake." Evie spoke what they all were thinking and Freddie nodded as he thought about it when Mal suggested something else.
"Okay, so then we get Ben out really fast. We need some kind of diversion." Mal held her hand out in thought and Freddie scratched the back of his head for a moment before a lightbulb turned on in his brain, causing him to smirk.
"You guys ever heard of smoke bombs?" He asked and they all looked to him as if he was Einstein, humming in agreement.
"Yes! That's perfect. I'll get the chemicals I need from Lady Tremaine's place. That could work." Evie patted Freddie's shoulder proudly, causing him to smile wide and she walked over to Mal, flipping her blue hair over her shoulder, "Oh, and sick hair by the way. Evil Stepmom seriously stepped up her game."
Evie touched Mal's hair a little and Mal looked at her with a grin, "Okay, do you wanna know something? Dizzy did this."
"Little Dizzy? Shut up." Evie got closer to Mal as if they were about to kiss as they had their girl gossip intensely, and because Freddie was used to it, he just sat silently, fiddling with his gloves but Carlos and Jay both watched them in disbelief.
"I know. I'm, like, loving it. It's like a lot lighter." Mal ran her fingers through her fresh purple hair, smiling at her best-friend.
"I'm really proud of her." Evie giggled, but their gossip was cut short when Carlos cleared his throat, interrupting their short moment of girl happiness.
"Hello?" Carlos called out, and Freddie looked up quickly, confused as to what was going on when he soon realised, lowering his head back down to his gloved hands.
Evie turned to look at the white-haired boy in thought for a second, before she also realised, flipping her hair over her shoulder, "Right."
"Carlos, Jay, you guys meet us at Pirates Bay, no later than noon. And you guys, losing, not an option." Mal demanded calmly, and Freddie abruptly stood up from the low couch, wiping off his leather pants as Mal continued, "'Cause we're rotten."
"To the what?" Freddie asked in a sing-song voice, causing Evie to giggle as they all responded.
"To the core."
"Cool painting by the way." Freddie pointed up at the spray painted picture of Jay, Evie, Carlos and Mal on the wall in black and white, and Mal smiled at him curtly.
"Thanks. Let's do this." Mal walked towards the exit, Jay and Carlos quickly following after her as Evie stayed back, waiting for Freddie to pull his long coat on.
"You're gonna love Dizzy, she's the sweetest!" Evie clapped her hands together in excitement to see the girl again, a huge grin covering her face and Freddie chuckled, placing his arm over her shoulders as they trailed behind the other three, Evie rambling about her favourite memories with Dizzy all the way there.
