── .✦ THE ROYAL COTILLION was in three days, and everyone was rushing around to plan the special day for Mal and Ben. Freddie was sat on Mal's bed, sketching Mal's tiara for the celebration with his legs crisscrossed over one another as Evie helped Mal try on her dress that the blue-haired girl designed.

It was yellow with blue accents, and took up the entire room with how massive the skirt was, it baffled Freddie honestly but he didn't care too much about it, as long as she was happy — although he wasn't sure how happy she was in a tight, heavy dress that squeezed her ribs and weighed her down as if she was tied to 20LB weights.

Evie zipped up the dress at the back, and Mal yelped loudly, her arms out wide, "Okay, Evie, I cannot breathe."

"Well, you can breathe after Cotillion." Evie told the new blonde, lifting her arms to check how good it fit on the bust. Freddie chuckled from the bed, staring down at his sketch.

"I sincerely doubt that." Mal responded, brushing a strand of her hair away from her eyes.

"You might need an oxygen tank." Freddie suggested and Evie rolled her eyes at him, bending down to check the length of the dress.

"Please arrange that. I have at least twenty more events directly behind it. And I can't even remember what a single one of them is." Mal rambled on, and Evie seemed to ignore it as she kissed the air, her fingers to her lips.

"Oh. Impeccable." The girl praised her hard work, admiring the large dress and it went silent for a moment before Mal spoke up.

"Evie?"

"Hmm?" Evie hummed, measuring the blonde's hips.

"Do you ever think about what we'd be doing if we were back on the Isle right now?" She asked, looking down at the girl dressed in blue and Freddie's eyes snapped up from his page, his face scrunched up.

"Eating snails." He joked and Evie giggled, glancing back at him with a grin and Mal sighed, that wasn't exactly the answer she wanted.

The TV turned on, and played music, catching their attention, "Ah! Look who's on TV." Evie grabbed Mal's hand and gently pulled her over to watch the television where Mal was eating strawberries with Ben, Aladdin and Jasmine. Mal spun and plopped down onto the bed next to Freddie, her dress completely covering his sketchpad, causing him to groan quietly.

"As the royal couple continues their tour of the Kingdom, they dined with Aladdin and Jasmine. Six months ago, no one thought King Ben and his girlfriend from the wrong side of the bridge would last." The reporter spoke and Mal chuckled as she watched the screen.

"Yeah, no kidding." She responded sarcastically, causing Freddie to snort. He looked away from the TV and over at Evie, who was stood at the sewing table, writing down the measurements and he couldn't help but admire her from behind.

"Mal must be counting the days until the Royal Cotillion when she will officially become a Lady of the Court." Suddenly, Mal gasped and she ran over to her nightstand, startling Freddie from his trance. She grabbed her spell books, flipping through the pages and Evie watched her with a disappointed look, whereas Freddie just didn't care.

""Read it fast at lightning speed. Remember everything I need."" She read the lines on the pages before she closed the book and picked up another one, doing some weird magical things with her fingers and she quickly opened it up, reading through the pages.

Evie walked over, one hand on the bed frame and her other hand on the back of Freddie's neck as she fiddled with the ends of his dark hair, "I know Mal's secrets of fitting in and Ben wouldn't like it one bit. Haven't you guys had enough secrets between the two of you already?"

"Evie, you remember what I was like before I started using my spell book." Mal looked over at her friend pleadingly, and she glanced at Freddie with a sigh, "I mean, I was a complete disaster."

"Well, personally, as your best friend, I strongly believe that this spell book..." She leaned over Freddie, letting go of his hair and grabbed the other spell book, causing Mal to yell at her for taking it away, "It belongs in the museum along with my mirror. Don't give me the face. Put the pout away. Mmm-hmm. You know I'm right." Evie leaned away, and Freddie was shivering in his timbers at how hot Evie was, and right in front of his face too.

"You don't ever miss running wild and just breaking all the rules?" Mal asked her friend, uncaring of the prince right beside her, listening in to their conversation.

"Like stealing and lying and fighting?" Evie asked after placing the book on her desk, she was back in the same position again, one hand on the bed frame and the other on the ends of Freddie's hair. He felt like a dog being petted — if that wasn't weird — it was a comforting feeling.

"Yeah." Mal responded with a huge smile, missing the memories of the Isle.

"No!" Evie spoke with a chuckle and her hand paused on the back of Freddie's neck for a moment before she began trailing her nails down his neck and down his back, up and down in a massaging way.

"What?" The blonde asked in disbelief, her hands in her lap.

"Why would we? M, come here." Evie sped over to the girl and pulled her up from the bed, causing Mal to scoff, and she dragged her over to her desk, looking at the TV screen,  "Look at where we are. We're in Auradon. There's literally a prince on your bed and we're Auradon girls now."

"Since Mal revealed her love of strawberries, she has received hundreds of cartons from her admirers." The reporter spoke, and Evie squealed loudly, side-hugging Mal with a huge smile on her face, whilst the aforementioned girl just watched without emotion, "Here she is, enjoying a cozy—"

"See, this is the land of opportunity. We can be... whatever we want to be here. So, please, let's just leave the past in the past, okay?" Evie held onto Mal'e shoulder, pulling her into her side, and they looked at each other for a short second before Mal looked back at the TV and Evie grabbed a heeled boot from the table, "Besides... I mean, look at the shoes. Look at them!"

"Severe." Mal replied simply and Evie laughed, staring mesmerisingly at the yellow and blue boot before she placed it back down on the table, looking back at Freddie.

"Why do you guys have your girl chats in front of me? Aren't you afraid I'll tell Ben?" Freddie asked genuinely and Evie giggled, walking over to him, and she placed her hand on the top of his head with a grin.

"You won't tell anyone, I trust you." She told him, and he chuckled for a moment, causing her to give him a serious stare, which he returned.

"I won't tell anyone." He assured, and she smiled again, nodding and patting his head.

"Good boy." She praised with a giggle, spinning on her heels and returning to her desk where she scribbled down more notes about Mal's dress.

IT WAS TIME FOR ANOTHER FITTING, and this time it was Chad, Freddie's least favourite fitting. He sat down at Evie's desk as he assorted the gemstones for Mal's silver tiara. He was going for yellow and blue sapphire gems in the shape of ovals.

"What about peacock feathers? Yeah, I bet you nobody's gonna have those at Cotillion." Chad assured Evie and he was wearing a half blue normal fabric, half white fur cape on his back.

"Chad. When I look at you, all I can think of is... King." Evie lied, causing Freddie to chuckle quietly in Evie's desk chair and Chad to gasp, "And fake fur. Fake fur says it all."

"Loud and clear." Freddie muttered, his back to them both as he continued to assort the gems.

"Amphitheater in five." Jay told Freddie and Chad on his way past, and Freddie nodded over at him in thanks.

"Why did the coach make him captain instead of me? I'm obviously better." Chad mumbled, and Freddie laughed out loud, his head leaning back towards the ceiling as he laughed uncontrollably.

"That's hilarious, Chad, you should participate in comedy club." Freddie joked, causing Evie to giggle quietly in the corner.

"Shut up." Chad demanded through gritted teeth, and when Freddie focused back on his project, the blonde looked into the distance with his hands on his hips, "King Chad though. I do rather like that." He chuckled at his own comment, before turning to Evie, "You know who else would like that?"

"Who?" Evie asked, fixing his cloak.

"Your mom?" Freddie asked in a hushed tone, making Evie snort.

"Audrey." Chad responded, not even hearing what Freddie insulted through his overconfidence.

"She would." Evie boosted his spirits, and Chad seemed to cry for a moment before Jay appeared back in the doorway.

"Chad, Freddie. Let's go." Jay leaned against the doorframe and Chad nodded, walking down off the podium without taking his cloak off, so Evie reached over, almost falling over to take the coat from him.

Freddie quickly placed the bundle of gems into a pot before he stood up in his fencing uniform, showing off his arm biceps and he approached Evie, quickly kissing her cheek, causing her to blush.

"I'll see you later." He grabbed his bag from the floor behind Chad and exited the room, watching as Jay wrapped his arm around the whimpering Chad's shoulders and Freddie chuckled.

"Get a load of this guy." He pointed his thumb over his shoulder at Chad, walking backwards out of the open door and she giggled loudly, clapping her hands together curtly as she watched him leave.
