Chapter Thirty Nine
Micah
I leaned deeper into the soft cushion as I tapped on the small blue option of 'confirm'
I had just gotten a new follow request from Instagram from the username '_son_of_SM' with over thirty thousand followers, a private account with seventeen posts and following forty-five, it got me curious.
Almost immediately, after I had confirmed the follow, I got a message from the strange profile inquiring how my day went.
I pursed my lips as I ignored the unusual question for the strange profile and asked who they were instead.
I stared at my phone, curiosity filling me. It showed they were typing for a while before they finally replied.
'You don't know me? I'm quite offended, Micah'
Color drained from my face as I stared at thier reply. My shaking finger hesitantly tapped on the 'view profile' option.
I felt my heart stop abruptly as I stared in horror at various pictures of Bryson. I immediately flung my phone at the opposite sofa and clutched my chest, patiently waiting for my heart beat to normalize.
I suddenly became frightened by my surrounding. My whole family was upstairs and I was down here, all the lights were off and the kitchen sink which had spoilt a week ago was dripping, infact it was the only sound.
I mustered enough courage, breathing in and out before finally grabbing my phone. I had two new messages from Bryson.
'you look awfully cute in your blue sweater'
'Although I think you should change from shorts to pyjama trousers. It's really cold.'
My eyes widened in shock as I glanced at my blue sweaters then the windows. I ran hurriedly, pulling the blinds down.
The messages kept coming.
'Imagine Kristopher filing a restraining order against me? Some brother he is.'
'y'know, I think he deserves to be taught a lesson.'
'No. I love him too much'
'Maybe you should be taught a lesson...I'm kidding!'
I couldn't take it anymore, I hurriedly blocked his profile. I shut down my phone and stared up at the ceiling with teary eyes.
What do I do now?
I sprinted far away from the window as soon as I heard the door creak open, hitting my ankle in the process.
"Shit." I hissed, staring at Cameron who stood by the door. I'm a little bit relieved that it was she who walked in but she had to explain her outing so late.
We both stared at each other for a whole minute, her wide eyes looking deep into my soul before I decided to break the silence.
"Where are you coming from?"
Her gaze immediately left mine to the floor.
"I-i went to see Kate." She stammered, she never stammers.
I folded my arms, disbelief written all over my face. "Really? Why are you back so late?"
She was silent for a few seconds. "I was meant to spend the night...but I changed my mind."
"Cameron? Don't lie to me." My sleepy eyes blinked at her but since she insisted, there was nothing else I could do.
"Good night Cam."
"Night Mic." She hurriedly walked passed me.
I collapsed on the sofa, putting my phone on once more and staring at the screen. I rubbed down my face in frustration as I looked up at the ceiling.
What do I do now?

"Fiddlesticks." I groaned getting up from my bed after reading a text Brianne sent me.
She sent a reminder and my lazy ass was too tired to get up.
I had stayed the whole day in and now it was evening and I had plans with my friends. I immediately sent a message to Kristopher reminding him as well before running into the bathroom for a quick shower.
The slightly above knee length sleeveless gown worn on top the black turtle neck top looked ideal. I ended the look with a pair of overall winter boots.
I smiled at the full-length mirror before glancing at the ticking clock. It was five pm on the dot. If I'd spend two hours at the hangout, I could make it back home before dark.
These days, I didn't want to stay out late, Bryson keeps affecting me in more ways than I'm willing to let on.
"Cameron." I called as I ran down the staircase.
"Yeah?" I heard her yell from wherever she was.
"I'm going out. If mum gets home before me, tell her I won't be long." I ruffled Levi's soft, neat hair as I walked passed him.
"Bye Mic!" His sweet innocent voice was the last thing I heard just before the door shut.

Kristopher arrived at the Court Diner a few minutes after I had just sent the address, he must've been in the area.
"Hey." I waved awkwardly at him once he stepped out. The last time I saw him, our conversation didn't really end well.
He glanced at me before nodding.
Oh really? The cold shoulder?
"Um.. My friends are already inside but I thought it would be a good idea to go in together."
"Smart." He said briefly before taking my by my hand. His grip on my hand was strong and protective but at the same time felt so icy and empty.
I quietly followed him as he led me into the diner. I spotted by friends at a table by the window.
I smiled and waved at them before heading Kristopher to thier booth.
"Hey stranger." Tori got up to give me a small hug.
"Hey." I hugged her back. He stare shifted to the petite auburn haired lady sitting on one of the stools. Beauty was an understatement, her shiny luxurious hair stopped just below her ears and cupped her oval face. Her almond butter eyes has just the right amount of glow and if I could compare her to any majestic animal, It'd be a fox.
"Hey." I smiled at the auburn haired.
"Oh Mic. This is Ava, my girlfriend." Tori introduced as my eyes widened.
"Your girlfriend?" I smiled at Ava. "Damn, I feel like I've been Absent for ages." I let out a small laugh.
"Hello Ava, I'm Micah." I introduced myself formally to Tori's girlfriend. Truth be told, I never knew Tori swung both ways, all her exes had always been males.
"It's a pleasure." She shook my hands.
"Wow, I can't believe we're all here. Brianna smiled at me. "It feels good to be complete, Micah's been occupied lately."
"Yeah, sorry. That's my fault." Kristopher sat on an empty stool and I sat on the one beside him.
"Hopefully you both would make it up to us?" Bri smiled mischievously at me.
"Hi, I'm Claire." The blonde stretched her hand over the diner table. It was only now I noticed Claire and Zion and his persistent glare on Kristopher and I.
"Oh, I don't shake hands, except you're a business partner." Kristopher turned her down.
My gaze slowly turned to him as I realized he was still holding my hand. Once he noticed my stare on him, he let me go.
"Oh," Claire redrew her hand and lowered her gaze.
"I'll go order." Ava announced standing up, we all told her our orders except Kristopher who insisted that he wasn't hungry.
"So what have you guys been up to lately?" I questioned as soon as Ava left.
"Nothing much." Bri glanced at Luther. "What about you?"
"How did you manage to bag the CEO of trust bank in less than a month? Last time I met you both, you guys weren't chill. You have to tell me the whole love story."
I laughed nervously as I stepped on Brianna's foot under the table. I smiled with satisfaction as she winced.
"I don't know," I smiled. "I guess, behind all our crazy fights and arguments, there's always been a romantic tension and sexual desire."
Bri, Claire and Tori 'ooed' and giggled as I spoke.
My ear caught onto Zion's scoff. "Yeah, right."
"What was that?" Kristopher stared at Zion.
"I said, Yeah right!" Zion repeated, with a more mocking tone this time.
"Do we have a problem, boy?" Kristopher emphasized greatly on 'boy'
"Zion, this isn't the time or place. Just stop." I said to Zion, trying to prevent him from doing anything foolish.
"What's the problem Zion?" Luther cocked his brows.
"Yeah, what's your problem?" Bri backed Luther up.
I shut my eyes and crossed my fingers and hoped this wouldn't escalate into something else.
"What I'm trying to say is, Kristopher Lyon here doesn't love Micah! Neither of them love each other."
"Shut up Zion! You don't know that!" I yelled at him, desperately wanting him to drop the subject.
Zion was taken aback and took a minute to collect himself before speaking again. "Oh I do."
"Brianna, Victoria, Luther." Zion called all three of them, ignoring the presence of his girlfriend. "Do you want to know why Micah and I have not been on speaking terms recently?" He asked and stared at me. His frown slowly turning into a smirk as he stared at my desperate and scared face.
Fuck it. He was about to let the cat out of the bag and holy Fuck I wish I could cripple the cat so it wouldn't get out.
