Micah

I sighed in relief as I swept down the counter with the light blue napkin I held. I was done for the day and it wasn't that late either, I was happy, I would rush home and dip my legs into warm water they were freezing.

It was November and had just started snowing yesterday late evening. Mom always said after a long day at work it was best to dip your leg into warm water.

I rubbed my palm together before loosening the knot at my back and pulling my apron off my body, I rolled it into a ball before tossing it into my bag.

I said my goodbyes to Amahale and Leah before running out the door.

Outside was snowing heavily and awfully windy but it wasn't something I couldn't handle.

“I'm home!” I screamed shutting the door behind me, a little too late though, some snow flakes had managed to get into the house just before I shut the door and had melted on the wooden floor.

“Mic!" The five year old boy ran into my hands. I knelt over and hugged him, he smelt fresh out of the bath and was wearing his pj's.

I swept his hair sideways. “How was school?" Levi was my eldest sister's child.

He shrugged at my question "Cold, I almost froze!" I chuckled at Levi being Levi before standing up and walking to Sara who lay carelessly on the chair.

"Hi, I'm home." I said dryly, I hadn't given up hope, I was just tired from having a long day at work.

"Are Gran and Gram home?" I glanced over my shoulders to Levi who nodded.

I walked down the hallway and through some steps before running into Ross, my brother in law.

His face broke into a grin seeing me, when he smiled he and his son Levi really resembled.

"How was work today?" I returned his smile,rose my shoulders and exhaled loudly.

"Hectic, you know how it is." He doesn't, Ross had been unemployed for over three years.

"Oh," was his only reply before patting my back. "Have a good night sleep" with that he passed by me.

"You too." I said before running up the stairs. My dad was already in bed, I made my way to his bed and tucked him in properly.

"Good night." I smiled staring at him for some minutes before turning to leave.

"Micah? Is that you?" I heard him mumble. My dad had been in a car accident some months back with Sara and had lost his sight but Sara turned lame and deaf.

She lost all hope and would lie on the couch all day. I tried my best to make her smile again and one day I'm sure I'll do it.

"Yeah, I just got off work." I smiled kindly at him. "I'm going to sleep." I informed dad who seemed too have fallen asleep.

I blew him a kiss and tiptoed out of his room. I met my mom in the kitchen with Alba and Corner, she stood by the stove preparing something.

"I'm back," I hugged her from her back, she patted my shoulder. "It's a snow storm outside." I pulled of my shoes first then my socks.

"Guess what!" Alba said almost in a shout, I turned to her with a questioning look as her eyes showed off pride.

"I have tickets to a Shawn Mendez concert!" She said in a high pitched tone. "Jamal got them for us."

"Really,'' her face showed off disappointment. Did she think I wasn't happy for her.

" I really am happy." I tried to convince her but she really wasn't. I turned my attention off her to my mom. "I hanging out with friends tomorrow" I told my mom not really sure why, I wasn't hoping for her consent, I'm freaking 24 but still I just felt like informing her.

I poured some hot water into a bowl and diluted with cold water.

"Please take Levi with you," mom turned to look at me, I dipped my legs into the bowl and a sudden cozy feeling came over me. The water was perfect.

"Um...." I stared up at the ceiling before shrugging. "Okay.

" Thank you"

She didn't have to thank me, Levi was a very funny and optimistic person that I loved being around. We hadn't spent much time together, I was looking forward to spending my Sunday with him and I just hoped my friends will to.

The day started off well with my team; Tori, Luther, Brianna and Zion. We met at an old shoe shop and after that went out for a fun filled day.

Tori couldn't stop gushing at how cute Levi was and Brianna took a picture any time he ate. After our first two stops to a diner and the mall Brianna and Luther had to leave, they had a date.

Not too long after, Tori made up a ridiculous excuse and bailed out leaving me, Levi and Zion. I have to admit, the atmosphere was tense and there was an awkward silence as we sat on the bench in the park.

Zion and I haven't had a real conversion ever since our breakup.

"Sooooo," I tried to start up something but nothing came to my mind. Oh

"How's your girlfriend?" I regretted as soon as I said it.

How can you ask your ex about his girlfriend, it's as if you want to get back with him..

"Claire? She's fine, good at everything, well almost everything; no one can be better than you in bed." He chuckled as my cheeks flushed. I laughed nervously, I forgot there was a five year old in our midst.

"Hey Levi wanna get more ice cream?" I asked hoping to get out of the awkward situation.

"Yes please!" He practically screamed jumping off the bench.

"We'll be right back." I smiled at Zion, taking Levi's hand in mine. Zion nodded.

We had gotten ice cream and were about to go back to the bench when my phone beeped from my back pocket, Zion had sent me a text.

'Had to go, something came up with Claire. C u later.'
                                        -Zion

I sighed rubbing my hand down my forehead.

Back home I guess

Levi and I had walked a few miles home when I realized he hadn't licked his ice cream yet.

"Sweety, aren't you gonna eat that?" I asked as he looked up at me smiling from cheek to cheek. He looked so adorable I could squeeze his cheek.

"No, I'm saving it for mummy." I swear my heart melted on hearing him, he was so considerate and Sara was a lucky mom.

"Aww, aren't you the sweetest." I pulled his cheek as he giggled.

I don't know how but he missed a step and fell to ground, his ice cream flew out of his hand.

I gasped bending down, I helped him stand to his feet and dust his body, he was a big boy he didn't cry but he pouted his lips.

I heard someone groan in frustration as I  looked at the awfully handsome man at my front; he was tanned, had neatly gelled brown hair the color of coffee, pale green eyes and my gosh was he tall, the expression on his face was displeased and his eyes were dark with anger.

My gaze dropped from his face to his suit trouser, Levi's ice cream had splashed all over his suit trouser. I gulped, my gaze returning to his face, my eyes locked with his.

I wanted to say something, I wanted to apologize but I was speechless, my mouth opened but nothing came out not even a mutter.
