Chapter Forty Three
Micah
"Follow me to Italy?" He stretched his hand, urging me to take it.
Once again I felt my heart beat rapidly but it wasn't fear or nervousness. It was excitement for something new.
"I..I don't know. I have a lot of things doing here in LA." I sincerely wanted to go but I had my family to worry about.
"All I need to hear, is that you want to come along. I'll take care of everything else." He assured me shoving one of his hands into the pocket of his grey coat, the other was still stretched at me. "I'm very influential, you know." He praised himself as I rolled my eyes at him.
I took a long pause before finally asking. "Do you want me to come?" I placed my hands on my waist looking at him with expectancy. He sighed loudly.
"More than anything." He paused. A smile taunted me, that was all I needed to hear. "Plus, it doesn't feel safe leaving you behind in the same city as Bryson." He concluded.
I nodded slowly and bit my lip. I wasn't sure if I'd have an opportunity like this again. And he was right, I didn't need to be in the same city as Bryson. I hadn't told him about Bryson's threats on Instagram but I felt safer whenever he was around. Imagine all that awaited me in Italy, Moreover I'd get to see Kristopher away from all the stress and responsibilities of California. This wasn't a vacation though, it was a business trip but hopefully, Kristopher wouldn't have to go to an office twenty four - seven and come back looking all grumpy and tired.
"Italy does sound fun." I grinned at him, taking his hand. "But I'll have to inform my family first." I pulled out my phone. I dialed Mom's number and let it ring.
"Hey, Mom." I greeted once she answered the line.
"Hey."
"..Okay, mum? I'm going to Italy." I finally let go of Kristopher's hand.
Her line was silent for a few seconds.
"What?" She sounded startled, her line cracked once or twice. I smiled sweetly at Kristopher before moving a few feet away so I could talk to mum properly.
"Yeah. Don't worry I'm not going alone. I'm going with Mr Kristopher."
"When did you plan this? How long are you staying there?"
"Mum. It was planned, it was so prompt. He just asked me.. and I said yes. I won't be gone for more than two days. He is actually going for a business trip and I'm accompanying him."
She calmed down a little. "So, are you going out with him now? Why are you accompanying him?"
"No, I'm not going out with him but I ....do like being around him."
"But Cameron said there was an article-"
"I know mum. It's fake news." I inwardly screamed at Cameron for being so talkative.
Her end went silent for a few seconds again.
"Have you packed?"
"No, but I'll be home in less than an hour."
"Okay dear. Bye." She ended the call as I breath out in relief. Truth be told, I hadn't expected to be so cool about it. I thought she'd insult Kristopher a million times. That was the whole reason I moved away.
"So..." I moved back to Kristopher, nearly closing the gap between us. "My mom seems cool about it."
"Great." He clasped his hands together. "Let's head to the airport."
"But... I'll still have to pack first." I stopped him. "I'll take ten minutes to pack, I promise."
"Nevermind... I'll buy you new clothes-"
"No." I protested immediately the words rolled off his tongue. "You don't have to."
He was silent for a minute, his eyes glued on mine.
"Fine." He finally agreed and walked to a silver Lexus UX. He gestured me to come and I did. I was quite shocked when her opened the door to the back seat. Presumably I thought it was for me and even blushed a little but then he got in first.
Whatever, I still got In after him.
His driver turned on the ignition and we drove into the day.
Immediately the Lexus parked at my house, I hopped out, waving at Kristopher and assuring him I'll be out in five minutes.
The house door closed harshly behind me and Cameron came running into the sitting room.
"You're going to Italy!?" She screamed, sounding both excited and shocked at the same time.
"I guess I am..." A smile graced my face.
"Damn....I have to find myself a rich boyfriend." I heard her remark as I hurried up the staircase.
"No, you need to finish high school." I laughed out.
I packed my clothes and a few essentials like my shampoos, lotions, deodorants, make up, hair brush and toothbrush.
I was ready.
Going down the staircase, I called for Levi but later discovered that Corner and Ross had taken him to a nearby park to build snowmen and stare at the decorations on the Christmas trees. Mum had gone grocery shopping and dad was asleep.
"Be good." I jokingly said to Cameron as I flung her my spare house keys. Just in case of an emergency, and by emergency I mean the rest of my family accidentally locking her and going to sleep since she comes back so late these days.
"I'm always good." She smirks, raising her brows.
"Bye Sara!" I shouted to Sara who I knew was upstairs. I knew she could hear me.
I waited a few seconds before finally getting a reply.
"I want you back in three days Gnome!" Her soft chuckle followed, and so did mine.
"You got it!" I walked out the door with a big smile on my face and looked back at the house. This was a place we had so much good memories in. Levi literally grew up in here. I've lived in this house since I was in high school, before I was in highschool even. The first time I met Zion was when he lived a few blocks away, we were so little, he was my best friend. I had my first kiss exactly where I'm standing now.
I couldn't loose this house.
I hurriedly ran back to the Lexus and we drove to the airport.
I occasionally caught Kristopher staring at me in the car and he looked adorable when he'd look away or atleast try to.
"What?" I turned to him, trying to hold back my smile.
"Well...Thank you."
"For what?"
"For agreeing to come with me to Italy. It was impromptu."
I stared at him for some seconds still smiling. Bri was right, how did I manage to bag the CEO of trust bag in less than a month? Maybe I hadn't bagged him, maybe this was a temporary feeling and could fade away at anytime. Whatever the reason was, I was grateful. Even if I could enjoy all this for a little while.
I leaned in closer to him and shut me eyes. "You're right, it was impromptu. You owe me."
His soft chuckle was the last thing I heard before I gave into sleep.
💮💮💮
I-
I'm not blushing, you are!
