Chapter Forty Four
Micah
Kristopher's light tapping on my shoulder woke me up from my small nap. The car was parked a few meters away from a large building with an extensive floor area. Under the building posed multiple jets.
"This isn't the airport." I alighted the vehicle and stood next to Kristopher, gently rubbing my eyes.
"No, it's my private hangar."
My eyes instantly widened.
"You have a private jet?"
Of course he had a private jet!
He was Kristopher freakin' Lyon!
"Not jet."he bent his back a little, leaning closer to me. "Jets." He corrected with a smirk.
Tsk, show off.
I rolled my eyes at him just before three air hostess' walked to us.
"Good Afternoon Mr Lyon." They greeted in unison, flashing bright smiles at him.
Surprisingly, he smiled back. I creased my brows and looked up at him.
The girls greeted me too, they didn't have as much enthusiasm but I shrugged it off. The trunk of the car was opened for them by Glenn; Kristopher's driver and they began carrying pur belongings into the black Prada jet Goldstream G450.
The pilot came out and shook Kristopher's hand briefly before beginning the journey.
If I thought the outside of the jet was outstanding, the inside was gorgeous. Everything seemed newly polished and had the scent similar to a new car.
"Get comfortable, it's an eleven hour journey."
"Twelve actually." I pulled out my phone, googling the time frame.
"Yes, approximately."
In this jet, I know I'll be very comfortable.
Once we settled in, two air hostess' and a host came to meet us. They greeted again and introduced themselves. They gave us instructions just in case of an emergency and even visually displayed examples.
"If you both need anything, I'm here." Beth, the blonde hostess informed. Her eyes lingering on Kristopher longer than it should.
"Thank you. We understand." I flashed her a sweet smile and kept my eyes on her till she walked away with her colleagues.
"That was by far your worst fake smile." He chuckled.
"I'm not really a fan of the air hostess' here" I laughed nervously, let's just pretend that it wasn't because I felt a ping of jealousy with the way they talked to and acted towards Kristopher.
"I noticed. Don't worry, they'll be changed by the time we're returning."
"No, you don't have to do that. It's totally fine."
"It's not-"
"Believe me, it is."
His gaze left the window to me. "Dammit, you're so stubborn."
"Would you really have me any other way?" I smirked and stared into his beautiful emerald eyes.
"No I would not." He finally smiled.
The PA speaker came on as the pilot informed Kristopher and I to silence all cellphones as the plan would soon prepare for take off.
I shut my eyes, doing a quick breathing exercise. I'd love to travel the world, the only problem was that I wasn't particularly a fan of planes, ships and trains.
I wasn't aerophobic or anything but planes taking off and landing always got me uneasy.
"Are you alright?" Kristopher turned to me, he seemingly noticed me tense up.
"Yup. Why wouldn't I be?" I did my best to smile brightly at him. He didn't respond, instead he looked away from me.
I continued my breathing exercises, the jet shook slightly as the wheels made contact with the ground.
Breathe in...
Breathe out...
We'll soon be in the air...
It seemed my breathing exercises worked as I immediately calmed down. My body felt warm inside and I felt cozy and comfortable.
I glanced down at my hand. No, it wasn't the damn exercise. It was Kristopher.
He held my hand and gently stroked the back of my palm with his thumb. He drew circles with his thumb which I found really soothing. I turned to look at him but he immediately looked away.
A small smile teased my lips as I looked away from his direction as well. I shut my eyes slowly and patiently waited for us to completely leave the ground. Which we did in less than a minute.
"I called your cafe..." He informed, letting go of my hand. My eyes fell on my lap as I was already missing the feeling of my hand resting against his. "I told them you'd be gone for a few days."
"Oh,'' my eyes looked up again. I brought my two hands up to the table which stood between Kristopher and I. "Thanks."
We both stayed in a comfortable silence as I zoned out, just looking out the window. All I could see was the innocent light blue color of the sky.
"Italy's going to be fun.." I blurted out as I kept my eyes on the window. I heard Kristopher hum in agreement.
"Much more fun because you're around." He said in a low tone which I barely managed to catch.
"Oh, sir." I laughed lowly, bringing my hand to my face. "You're flirting with me?"
"You wish." He scoffed playfully and once again looked away. It was hard not to look at me since we sat in opposite directions.
".. maybe just a little." He murmured just before pretending to read something on a safe flight flyer.
Stupid Kris, it's upside down.
"I heard that." I tried to hold back my smile while putting on my phone.
"Oh I know."
I tsked, looking up from my phone. "Did you also know that your flyer's upside down?"
I watched his flirting face quickly switch to one of mild embarrassment. His eyes left mine to examine the contents of the flyer before quickly turning it over.
I laughed quietly and looked back at my phone. I could laugh at him embarrassing himself all day because THAT was a rare occurrence but I needed to text my friends.
