Chapter 7. Party gone wrong

"What did we miss?" Bree says

"I'll continue to run variations on the interface. But you should probably prepare for your guests. I'll notify you if there are any developments." Jarvis says

"Thanks, buddy." Tony says

"Enjoy yourself, sir and ma'am."

"We always do." Tony says, he opens the door for Bree, she exits the lab and Tony follows, the two head to go get dressed.

At the Party

"But, you know, the suit can take the weight, right? So I take the tank, fly it right up to the general's palace, drop it at his feet. I'm, like, "Boom. You looking for this?" "Boom. Are you looking for..." Why do I even talk to you guys?" Rhodes says, Before anyone can answer, Bree attacks Rhodes with a hug.

"Hey Rhodes" she says as she hugs him from behind.

"Hey mini Stark" he says, she frowns

"You telling them the War Machine story" Bree asked, he nodded and She laughed

"Everywhere else, that story kills." Rhodes says

"That's the whole story?" Thor asked, Bree just smiled

"Yeah, it's a War Machine story."

"It's very good, then."

"It's impressive."

"Quality save." Bree says

"Sometimes, no Pepper?" Dr. Cho asked

"She's not coming?" Tony says, Bree walks up two Thor and Dr. Cho

"No. What about Jane?" She asked

"Where are the ladies, gentlemen? What about you Bree" she asked

"Oh no I'm single. I'm not ready for another relationship" She said shaking her head

"Ms. Potts has a company to run." Tony says

"Oh, God don't start this" Bree says

"Yes, I'm not even sure what country Jane's in. Her work on the Convergence has made her the world's foremost astronomer." Thor says, Bree gets up and walks over to Steve and Sam

"Sounds like a hell of a fight. Sorry I missed it." Sam's says, Bree walks over unnoticed.

"If I had known it was gonna be a firefight, I absolutely would have called." Steve says

"No, no. I'm not actually sorry. I'm just trying to sound tough. I'm very happy chasing cold leads on our missing persons case. Avenging is your world." Sam says

"Your world is crazy." Bree says catching the attention of the bous

"Be it ever so humble." He says

"You find a place in Brooklyn yet?" Sam says turning to Steve

"I don't think I can afford a place in Brooklyn." Steve says

"I could help you with that" Bree says
The boys look at her.

"I have a friend that owes me a favor" She says

"And he just so happens to live in Brooklyn" Bree says

"Also, you both just missed that agruement of the year" Bree says

"And which one is that?" Steve asked

"Tony and Thor's, who has a better girlfriend" Bree says, Sam and Steve both laugh.

"So I'm guess your single" Sam says

"You have guessed correctly" Bree says

Sam winks, Bree laughs

"Not in a million years Wilson" She says, His face falls.

"Its okay, I not into relationships right now" She says

"I gotta have some of that!"

"Oh, no, no, no. See this, this was aged for a thousand years, in the barrels built from the wreck of Brunhilde's fleet, it's not meant for mortal men." Thor pours the drink into 3 glasses and hands one to Steve and Bree.

"Neither was Omaha Beach, blondie. Stop trying to scare us. Come on."

"Alright. "

Thor pours some of the drink into the Stan Lee's glass;

"This is good Thor were can I get some" Bree asked

"Asgard"

Later Stan, looking extremely drunk is being carried off by two men

"Excelsior. " Stan sings, Thor and Steve carrier out the drunk men

Natasha is pouring a drink behind the bar when Banner walks up to her

"How did a nice girl like you, end up working in a dump like this" Banner asked her

"Fella done me wrong" She answers

"You got a lousy taste in men, kid" He says

"He's not so bad. Well, he has a temper. Deep down he's all fluff. Fact is, he's not like anybody I've ever known. All my friends are fighters. And here comes this guy, spends his life avoiding the fight because he knows he'll win."

"Sounds amazing"

"He's also a huge dork." Natasha says, Bruce looked down embarrassed

"Chicks, Dig it. So what do you think, should i fight this, or run with it'

"Run with It, right? Or, did he...was he...? What did he do that was so wrong to you?"

"Not a Damn thing. But never say never" Natasha walks away

"Its nice" Steve says sitting on one side of Bruce, and Bree sits on the other

"What, what, what is?"

"You and Romanoff" Steve says

"No, we haven't. That wasn't..."

"It's okay. Nobody's breaking any by-laws. It's just, she's not the most... open person in the world. But with you she seems very relaxed." Bree says

"No, Natasha, she...she likes to flirt." Bruce says

"I've seen her flirt, up close. This ain't that. Look, as maybe the world's leading authority on "waiting too long", don't. You both deserve a win." Steve says, Him and Bree get up and Walk over to the Couches

"Wait, what do you mean, "up close"?" Bruce says

"But, it's a trick!" Clint says referring to Thor's Hammer.

"Oh, no. It's much more than that." Thor says, Bree laughs

"Uh, "Whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!" Whatever man! It's a trick." Clint says

"Well please, be my guest" Thor says

"Come on." Tony says

"Really?" Clint asked

"Yeah!" Clint jumps up.

"Oh this is gonna be beautiful." Bree says

"Clint, you've had a tough week, we won't hold it against you if you can't get it up. " Tony says, the other laugh

"You know I've seen this before, right?" Clint says, he pulls on the hammer, but is unable to lift it.

" I still don't know how you do it." Clint says

"Lose your Confidence Barton" Bree says, and her and Natasha high five.

"Smell the silent judgment?" Tony says

"Please, Stark, by all means." Clint says

"Oh, here we go." Natasha says

"Okay." Bree says

"Uh-oh."

"Um-hmm."

"Never one to shrink from an honest challenge." Tony says

"Get after it." Clint says

"Here we go." Nat says

"It's physics." Tony says

"Physics!" Bruce says

"Right, so, if I lift it, I...I then rule Asgard?" Tony says

"I will be re-instituting Prima Nocta." He says, and Bree groans

Tony pulls constantly but can't lift it,

"I be right back" Tony runs of to somewhere

Tony comes back with his iron man hand, but fails again. Wearing the Iron man hands Tony and Rhodes try and lift Thor's Hammer.

"Are you even pulling?" He ask Tony

"Are you on my team?" Tony asked Rhodes

"Just represent! Pull!" He yells at him

Finally the two give up and Bruce tries. He pulls then releases a roar, trying to challenge Hulk, but fail. Everyone looks to him

"Huh?" Bruce says, Steve get up to try. Bree gives him a thumbs, he smiles at her.

"Let's go, Steve, no pressure." Tony says

"Come on, Cap." Rhodes says

Steve starts pulling on the hammer and manages to budge it a little; Thor looks a little alarmed. Steve still fails to lift it; Thor laughs with relief.

"Nothing" Thor says

"And?" Tony says

"Widow, Stark?" Bruce says

"Oh, no. That's not a question I need answered" Natasha says

All the eyes in the room go to Bree

"Alright, Fine. But if I lift it I don't want to rule Asgard. I just want a life time supply of beer a d wine from Asgard" Bree says, The others laugh, and Bree gets up she puts her hand on the hammer.

"Tony bet you $500,000 that I can lift it" Bree says

"Deal" Tony says

Bree be gu ins to pull on the hammer. At first nothing happens, then she gives it one last pull, and lifts the hammer.

"YESSSS!" She tells, The others jaw dropped.

"Dang it" Tony mumbles, Bree give him the pay-up look.

"All deference to the man who wouldn't be king, but it's rigged." Tony says

"You bet your ass."

"Steve he said a bad language word" Maria says

"Did you tell everyone about that?" He said looking to Bree, she nodded, and Steve groaned

"The handle's imprinted, right? Like a security code. "Whosoever is carrying Thor's or Bree's fingerprints" is, I think, the literal translation?" Tony says

"Yes, well that's, uh, that's a very, very interesting theory. I have a simpler one." Thor says getting up and lifting his hammer.

"You're all not worthy." He says gesturing to everyone but Bree.

There is a loud choir of disagreement.

"Worthy... No... How could you be worthy? You're all killers."

That took forever. But it's done, and was fun to write.
