- Review For The Book: Broken Without You - Ray Of Hope -
Broken Without You - A Ray of Hope by Kmytho
Whole Package (Ch. 1,2,3,4,5)
Since I already wrote my suggestions for the blurb of your book, I'll review the chapters and the cover.
I believe the cover should be changed. The title can't be seen fully and it seems rather plain. There are faceclaims put in but I don't see the reason why all of them need to be there. The cover seems rushed even though it's so important for gaining audience. There is a bunch of open graphic shops on Wattpad that I'm sure would be willing to make you a cover since it's one of the most important things that attracts readers. If you want I can give you a couple of accounts that I would recommend for graphics.
As I read the chapters I have to admit it was hard to keep track of who is who which made me focus more on understanding the writing rather than the plot itself (which is extremely interesting). I had to go back to the very first chapter you posted a couple of times, explaining which character is which - I think that was a great idea but it's not something that should be used when writing a book. However, I also think me not knowing anything about Indian culture and traditions is partly a reason why I found it confusing. I'm sorry about that.
Now the plot has so much potential, but I do believe the writing style and the first chapters I read should be edited. For example, you should not just tell the readers about your story, you should show them using similes, metaphors, personifications etc... What threw me off the most was the dialogue. For example,
Suthanu - "Kumar Shatrunjay are you following me?" (Smiles)
Shatrunjay- "Of course not Kumari! I just enjoy this place the most."
Now, this would be acceptable if I'm reading a transcript of a movie or a show but since you are writing a book I would suggest following the typical dialogue style.
I would write it like this, for example,
Suthanu exclaims with a smile, turning around, "Kumar Shatrunjay are you following me?"
"Of course not Kumari!" Shatrunjay puts his hands in defense, "I just enjoy this place the most."
If you fix the dialogue throughout the chapters this way, it'll be more appealing and professional. Other than that, I really wanted to distinguish the couple of main characters that I could focus on relating to their personality, arch's and developments but I couldn't do so due to the readers being introduced to so many of them. What I would suggest is really creating a character plan and deciding which ones are worth writing about a lot and which ones aren't. It'll help readers connect with the few of those characters better.
Now I know that the boys both end up getting married to the princess and they are the main characters, however the lack of descriptive writing is reducing their significance. I would suggest describing more of characters' feelings, thoughts, hopes etc. It'll help shape the plot and drive it forward.
Other than that, I wouldn't put the location where each "scene" is taking place. For example, Somewhere in the palace. I would use descriptive writing to show that they are somewhere in the palace. It adds this sense of intrigue and it fits better when writing. Also, I wouldn't include the pictures in the chapters. Personally, it throws me off when reading. If you want you could create an aesthetics chapter in the beginning to show most of the things that happen but I wouldn't include that in the written chapters themselves.
Overall, these are the mistakes that stood out more than others, and with just a little change it'll convert this book into its deserved and better version. I hope I was helpful with this, and with the changes it'll reach it's full potential. Thank you for letting me read your book!
