I hate to break it to you but...

The Box scene is boring.

Like yes, it can become more interesting in certain ways, but there will always be people who think "yay, here we go again—not like I've read this 100 times before..."

SOOOOO, here are my tips!!

Other things to start your (non AU) Maze Runner fanfic with:

— A tense moment that will immediately leave the readers begging for more (something in the Maze, an anxious Gathering, an argument, etc).

— Start your fanfic in the Scorch, or maybe even the Last City!! Anything is possible and more interesting than the good old "I wake up in a dark cage... or is it an elevator?"

(Please don't feel like you're not allowed to write the Box scene!! These are just tips on how to hook readers)

— An unhinged line.
Examples:
"I killed him."
"Oh, fuck off."
"Oh."
"Did you know *weird fact*?"
"Uh-oh, someone's angry."
Things like that :))

I don't have a lot of other tips, but just try to make something interesting out of it! I hope this helped, haha x
