It was a beautiful Sunday morning...well, it was up until it was interrupted. Y/n was making herself breakfast and planned to do nothing all day. Then the doorbell rang, unfortunately. She turned down the heat on the stove and walked over to answer it. She pulled open the door and to her surprise, it was Caitlin Clark. Rookie of the Year, etc, etc.

She tilted her head with curious eyes, "who told you where I live?"

"You know who. Can I come in?"

She sighed, pulling open her door wider to the let the girl in. "I don't know why you're wasting your time coming here. I'm just gonna say no."

"That's why I'm here. So you don't say no." Caitlin smiled, following her to the kitchen after kicking her shoes off. She planned to stay here all day if needed. She wasn't leaving this building without a yes.

"That's an arrogant thing to say." She comments, flipping the omelet and turning off the heat. Caitlin took a seat on the comfy stool, she noticed the apartment was packed up, clearly getting ready to move out. "Breakfast?" She offered. She made double of everything anyways.

"Sure," Caitlin nods, glancing around the place. It looked nice and expensive. That wasn't anything surprising.

"You're gonna leave here very disappointed, Clark," she continued, pushing the plate towards her. She went to the fridge to grab her a water cause that's all she had at the moment. This breakfast was her clearing out the fridge. "Really? Cause I think I'm gonna leave here feeling very satisfied," Caitlin remarked strongly, taking a bite of the food.

"You may be used to getting whatever you want but that doesn't work on me." She picked up her plate and carried it to the living room. Caitlin quickly got up to follow her. She joined her on the sofa. "If it doesn't work on you so much, why are you spending your time entertaining me?"

She shrugs nonchalantly, "because I'm bored."

"Bored equals time. Let's use that time to talk about your future," Caitlin countered quickly to the point y/n was a little impressed. "I'm listening." She took another bite of her omelet as Caitlin pulled out her phone. "You're known for hopping teams, obviously. Which you've said helps keep your skills sharp and consistent."

"Correct. I don't rely on a team, I rely on myself." She stated.

"True. You don't rely on a team, but you do rely on your teammates. They keep your skills sharp- you learn new things because of them. You need people." She made a good point, but y/n's ego wasn't gonna let her admit that. "Lexi, AB, DeWanna-"

Y/n's eyes shot up at the mention of her former teammate, "you guys got DeWanna?"

"You didn't let me finish. DeWanna, Natasha Howard, Sydney Colson-"

"Syd?" Y/n raised a brow of disbelief, sitting up clearly as Caitlin bit back a smirk. Somehow they had managed to get some of y/n's favorite teammates she's played with. She leaned forward, and Caitlin wasn't gonna back down, so she leaned forward right back. "And you think this is all gonna lead to signing me?"

Caitlin mirrored her arrogance, "I know it will."

She cracked a laugh, sitting back against the cushion and taking a bite of her food. "That's adorable. Please, continue. I like your voice," she insisted.

"Answer me this. Why are you leaving the Connecticut Sun?"

That was an easy question for her. "Cause I knew another year wasn't gon' win me a championship."

"Fair enough. That's why you left the Aces last year, right?"

"Mhm. We weren't championship ready," she shrugs. She did feel slightly bad for leaving them in 2024 for the Sun but at the end of the day, she wanted to be on a team with a better chance of winning. "Are you gonna go through all my career choices?" She retorts sarcastically, receiving a sassy eye roll.

Caitlin was getting a little annoyed to say the least, but she wasn't giving up just yet. "Okay, let's do this. Tell me why you haven't considered Fever for your next team?"

"Now we're getting somewhere." She grinned, setting down her plate and taking a sip of her water. "Reason one, I don't join rebuilding teams. Reason two, I don't have faith in Stephanie White. Reason three, I don't think you have what it takes to win a championship. You couldn't even guard me. And if I recall correctly, we mopped the floor with you in the playoffs."

Typically, Caitlin would've immediately argued with her for those comments about her, but she knew that's exactly what y/n wanted. She was testing her patience, and it wasn't gonna work. She was prepared for this. "You said we're a rebuilding team. I disagree. We have the most capable players on our team that have plenty of vet experience to lead us to the playoffs. You been through this same thing with a previous team. They called you guys a rebuild team and you still lead them to the playoffs as a rookie."

Y/n seemed to consider it, which meant Caitlin was breaking through to her. "You said you don't have faith in Stephanie White. I don't believe that. From what I heard, she's been a mentor in your life since college. She's also the reason you left the Aces for the Sun. Now, I heard you guys got into a disagreement after the playoffs and that's where this hate is coming from. But, you and Becky Hammon had your fair share of arguments and you still worked together to win a championship, did you not?"

"Did you look me up on Wikipedia?" She teased.

Caitlin could see how much she was breaking through to her. She was closer to changing her mind. Her teasing wasn't gonna distract her. "You don't think I have what it takes to win a championship. I personally disagree. You're shitting on my game in the playoffs rather than focusing on the fact that I brought my team to the playoffs- in my rookie year. If you think about it, you're shitting on yourself, cause you were once in my exact same position."

She didn't get any response, but it seemed as if y/n was annoyed by her comparison. Instead she got up and carried her dishes to the sink. She returned with some papers and tossed them on the coffee table in front of the brunette. "These are all contract offers from many different WNBA teams that I'm interested in. Tell me why your offer is any different from theirs."

Caitlin didn't even have to look to know that all these offers were just focused on salary. She knew y/n didn't actually care about money. With her investments and sponsors she made triple that in a month. It wasn't about money for her. It was about herself. "I already did. I've told you everything you wanted to hear. You don't actually care about how much money they offer. You want to know about how you're gonna benefit from it."

She was impressed that Caitlin figured her out so quick. People were usually so quick to jump to money. "And you think the Fever can benefit me?"

"I do. We can give you everything you want from a team."

She smiled, pleased with her words. "You're pretty good at appealing to my ego."

Caitlin grinned at the compliment. "Thank you."

"But, I don't have an answer for you. I need to think about it. Thank you for coming though." She reached for her remote, expecting the brunette to get up and leave but she made no effort to move. "I'm not leaving without a yes." She mumbled, deciding to get comfortable and pull the blanket over her.

"Then you're gonna be here for a while, sweetheart," she retorts.

She smiles, looking over at the movie options, "I'm okay with that."

It literally got to 8pm, and Caitlin was still there. Y/n was actually getting frustrated with her. She even snatched the remote to pick her own movie at one point. She was getting way too comfortable. "Watch this part. It's really good," Caitlin added, smiling at the television that was playing a favorite movie of hers.

"Caitlin. This is a barbie movie." She deadpanned.

"You don't like Barbie movies? And to think I had a crush on you," Caitlin scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest with an eye roll.

Y/n paused, grabbing the remote to pause the movie and turned to the annoyed Caitlin. "You have a crush on me?" She scoffed, "well not anymore. What kind of monster doesn't like barbie movies? I can't have a crush on someone who doesn't like fun."

She sighed, the subject somehow making her feel some things. "Okay, you really need to leave."

Caitlin sat up, thinking this was finally the time she'd get a yes. She wasn't phased by the crush part, cause literally all her friends knew and teased her about it. She didn't care that y/n knew. It wasn't gonna change her goal here. "I unfortunately cannot leave without a verbal or physical yes."

"A yes to what? A meeting? A contract? You need to be more specific."

Caitlin pulled out a contract that she had secretly had y/n's manager look over a couple days ago without the player knowing. "A yes to this. Sign the contract and I'll leave." She couldn't wait for y/n to pull the manager card.

"I can't sign that without my manager's approval."

"I already got it." Caitlin smiled, pointing at her manager's signature in the corner.

It certainly caught her off guard- and slightly annoyed her. She hated people being one step ahead of her. It was frustrating. "What if I already signed a contract? To a different team. You didn't look at the Sparks contract, did you?" Caitlin knew she was bluffing. As much as y/n was close with Kelsey Plum, she wasn't sure she'd go down the Sparks path again. 2019 was her worst year because of them.

Caitlin set the contract down and moved closer, a bit too close for the vet's liking. "I'm leaving with a signature no matter what. It's your choice if you wanna make this more difficult than it needs to be, y/n." Y/n didn't enjoy how convincing she was. She really knew how to talk.

Y/n huffed, leaning over her to grab the contract. Caitlin smiled and passed her a pen as she read over it. It ended with her ultimately signing her name on the Indiana Fever contract. She handed it back to the brunette, running her hand over her hair, "tell me something." She glanced up with curious eyes, ready to hear her question, "I heard why everyone else wants me. Why do you?"

That was the one question she didn't prepare herself to answer. But, if she didn't answer, y/n could just as easily rip up that contract. "Before you traded to UConn..you played your freshman year in Iowa. It was one of the best freshman years in Iowa...until mine, obviously. I got to go to some of your freshman games, and you easily became one of my favorites."

That was a bit surprising to hear. Her freshman year in Iowa was hardly ever talked about because her years in UConn overshadowed it. "Then I got to watch you play in the WNBA and win a championship in your rookie year. I promised myself I would do everything to get to play beside you. It's a dream to have you as a teammate. That's why I want you on this team."

Y/n hummed, her mind going back to the times she's played against Caitlin. She didn't realize Caitlin liked her that much. She just thought she looked up to her like she would any other vet. It almost made her feel bad for trashing her performance in the playoffs. Not bad enough to say sorry though. Caitlin probably enjoyed the criticism. She was the type to better herself because of it.

But of course she had to tease her a little bit. "You always get your way?"

"If I got my way, I would've had that contract signed way sooner," she remarked with a smug smirk.

She was amused by her level of cockiness. She had to admit, it was attractive. Much more attractive when Caitlin did it compared to the loser men she's dated. She never tried girls before. Of course she found them attractive, she just never found herself curious enough to explore that part of her sexuality. "No offense, rook, but I don't date girls five years younger than me."

"I never insinuated anything like that. So, it sounds like you're the one thinking about me that way." Caitlin shot back with a innocent look. She was getting really good at countering y/n's remarks.

"Get out of my place, Caitlin."

Caitlin grinned, scooping up the contract and standing to her feet. "Hey, call me on moving day. I'll help you break in the bed."

"You're a child," she scowled, not even looking over her shoulder to see but she knew Caitlin had the cheesiest grin on her face.

"Have a good night. I'll see in Indy!" She shouted out before making her exit.

She sighed deeply, getting up to pour herself some wine. "That girl is gonna be the death of me."

"I have a question for you."

Y/n plopped down on the couch next to DeWanna who had been helping her unpack. Natasha helped her move in yesterday so DB offered to help her unpack. The taller woman glanced over her with curious eyes cause y/n tended to ask some pretty out of pocket shit. "What kind of question?"

"Am I gay?"

DB laughed, the question catching her off guard. "What? How would I know?"

"No, I mean like- do I look gay? Do I come off that way? Be honest. I won't be offended."

"Uh- I don't know. Hold up- let me ask Lyss. She'll give you an answer." DB quickly pulled out her phone to call her wife. AT picked up the call, casually giving her wife a compliment upon greeting. "Hey, I have a question for you. Do you think y/n is gay?"

"Oh yeah, that girl gay as hell. I been sayin' that since we met her." She answered bluntly, truly not caring if she could hear or not.

DB chuckled, "okay, that's all I wanted to ask. I'll call you back when I get home. Love you." She hung up and turned to her teammate, the girl holding a visible frown. "What's wrong? I thought that's what you wanted to hear."

"I did- it's just, I feel like I wasted time, ya know? Like, I could've been with girls instead of wasting my time on these short fucking losers who have zero respect for my wine collection." DB frowned, truly feeling bad for her discovering this a bit late. She quickly pulled the younger girl into her arms, "it's okay. You're still young. You've got plenty of time to find the right person for you."

"Do you think 23 and 28 is...gross for like an age gap?"

"No. Not if they're both consenting adults. Why?"

"No reason."

After DB left, she decided she didn't like the living room layout and ended up switching all the furniture around. Just when she got ready to lay down, the doorbell rang. Wonderful. She walked over and pulled it open, greeted with the beautiful face of her new teammate Caitlin Clark. She held a bottle of wine in her hands with a red bow wrapped around it. "Housewarming gift. Can I come in?"

"This isn't a housewarming party." She remarked, taking the wine and letting her inside anyways.

"It looks nice in here." She notes, kicking off shoes and placing them on the shoe rack.

"Thanks. My aunt is an interior designer, so I get it from her," she replied, grabbing two wine glasses to try the new bottle. She set the glasses down and pulled the bow off to read the label. Caitlin studied her reaction- silently praying she didn't hate it after putting so much thought into picking it out. "Shut up. 1966 Chateau Clos de Sarpe Saint-Emilion Grand Cru? This is one of my favorites."

She was very relieved to hear that. Though, she had no idea it was one of her favorites. Guess that worked out quite well for her. Y/n glanced over at her, her brow raising slightly, "hold on- how do you even know where I live- let alone my favorite wine? Are you stalking me?"

"I literally live on the floor below you. And the wine was an accident. I didn't know that was your favorite." She was very quick to defend herself from those accusations. Not wishing to come off as obsessed or anything...

She squints, "How do you know I liked wine?"

Now that- she definitely picked up on from stalking her Instagram. She seen every post about her visiting vineyards and wine tasting with her friends. Realistically, she was not admitting that..like ever. "Um...I just saw your wine collection at your last apartment."

"Really? That's sweet. Nobody ever notices it." She smiled, and turned to grab a corkscrew to open it. She was really flattered that Caitlin noticed it enough to bring her a bottle. Also the fact that she didn't spring for a cheap bottle like all her previous male dates had done...that's if they paid her enough attention to actually bring wine.

Caitlin signed in relief, surprised that she bought it and made her smile in the process. It's not like she lied either. She genuinely did notice the wine collection. It worked out even better for her when y/n started to ramble on and on about her collection and love for wine as she worked to open the bottle. It was cute seeing her go on and on about her interest. She never got to see that side of her before.

"Sorry- I'm rambling." She mumbled apologetically, pushing a glass of wine towards the brunette. She finally noticed the pair of glasses she had on. She'd never seen her with glasses before but they looked nice on her. She pulled them off well.

"It's okay. Keep going. It's cute." Caitlin flirted effortlessly, a smirk finding her lips when she noticed her look away to hide her flustered appearance. There was something so poetic to her about making an older woman flustered.

Her first instinct was to just walk away. And so, she did. She picked up her wine and made her way to the living room. Caitlin wasn't letting her get away so easy though. She was quick to get up and follow her. "You can't just walk away mid conversation."

"Yes I can." She shrugged, sitting down on her couch, the same one they sat on last time.

Caitlin frowned, setting down her glass and sitting down beside her. Y/n instinctively moved farther away, her heart pounding in her chest. "Why are you so against me?" She asked, studying her features. She stared straight ahead and back to the wine sitting so still in her glass, trying not to crumble under the girl's stare.

"I don't know what you mean."

"Yes you do."

She turned to meet her eyes, clearing her throat lightly so her voice wouldn't shake. "Because I don't date girls five years younger than me. I'm not even sure I like them in that way."

Caitlin smiled, moving closer so this time she couldn't back up. She was already pressed against the armrest. "How do you know you don't like younger women if you've never tried one before?"

"Look-" she set a hand on her chest, causing Caitlin to slide her hand over it with an innocent smile, waiting patiently for her to continue. "We're teammates now, okay? So there needs to be some boundaries with..this."

She nodded softly, taking her hand to press a kiss to her palm. "I can do boundaries."

"Okay- you can't do that- like in front of anyone. Nobody can know anything is going on between us." Caitlin just nodded, reaching for the glass to set it down as y/n continued. "-and you can't make it obvious. No flirting or giving me special treatment. You gotta treat me like any other teammate."

"I can try." She whispered, slowly climbing over her lap, pressing soft sensual kisses to her neck. A soft sigh escaped her lips before she remembered what she was saying. "No- no, you can't try. You need to do it. Okay?" Caitlin just needed her to stop talking so she nodded again in agreement.

Internally, she wanted to pull away and snap herself out of this. But physically? She was crumbling under her like a nature valley bar. Neck kisses had never been so enjoyable to her until now. What the hell was in that wine? She felt like Caitlin put her under some kind of spell. A spell she never wanted to break...

Then she stopped. Her eyes shot open in confusion and Caitlin climbed off and took her hands. "Come on." She pulled her up and guided her to the bedroom. It wasn't far, it was just down the hall, the door wide open. She pushed her to lay down and pulled her glasses off, setting them on the nightstand. Y/n still seemed deeply conflicted about this watching Caitlin undress. "A-Are you sure this is a good idea? I'm 28."

"It's not a big deal. We're both adults." She shrugged, climbing back over her and pushing her hair away.

"Okay, yeah. We're adults.."

Caitlin truly loved how inexperienced y/n was with women. It made this so much more fun. "Take this off." She hooked her fingers in her t-shirt and pulled it off, tossing it to the side carelessly.

"You're so hot." She breathed out, leaning down to finally connect their lips in a much needed kiss.
