"Did they say who your new roommate's gonna be?"
"Nope," Caitlin answered, glancing up from her phone as Kate and Jada were playing video games on the TV. She was still in a sour mood after finding out someone she hated since high school had transferred to Iowa.
At the sound of the door unlocking they all perked up, realizing it was Caitlin's new roommate. "Oh, shit it's her. I should've made cookies," Gabby mumbled.
They all stood up and walked over as the door opened. All the color in Caitlin's face drained. Meanwhile, y/n just smirked like this was the funniest thing in the world. "This is a surprise. They didn't mention my roommate was gonna be a self absorbed stuck in the closet bitch."
"Hold me back, Kate." Caitlin muttered under her breath, on the verge of punching the shit out of her.
"That's rude." Gabby frowned, not expecting her to be that mean. She should've paid attention to Caitlin's rants about her more.
"Sorry, I wasn't talking you guys. That was specifically for Clark. She knows that." Y/n winks, shutting the door and carrying her stuff down the hall to find her room. "I'm gonna kill her," Caitlin breathed out.
As the three were trying to calm down their teammate, y/n pushed open the door to the empty room and set her stuff inside. A couple minutes later, as she was unpacking, she heard the front door shut and footsteps approaching her room. Caitlin pushed open the door and leaned against the frame. "You should know the rules if you're gonna be staying here."
She didn't respond, just sitting against the bed waiting to hear what these rules were. "Number one: no bringing back random girls to sleep with. You wanna have sex, do it in a different dorm. Number two: no smoking of any kind. Do that outside, 'cause I know you're a pothead. Number three: clean up after yourself. Do that, and we'll have no problems."
She smiled, standing up and walking over. "Is masturbation against your rules?"
Caitlin rolled her eyes, she couldn't exactly say no to that. She had the right to do whatever she wanted to her body. "Just keep it down, okay? I enjoy my sleep."
"Cool. You ready to hear my rules?" She smirked, and Caitlin once again rolled her eyes. "If I can't bring someone over for sex, your boyfriend isn't allowed either."
Her jaw dropped, getting angry all over again, "no, are you kidding me? He's my boyfriend. That's not the same."
"A boyfriend you might have sex with when I'm home. It's the rules, isn't it?" Of course. Of course y/n just had to use her own words against her. She was such a bitch. "Fine. Have your little sluts over. I don't care."
"Sounds good. I'm glad we covered that. This was a good talk." She patted her chest before pushing her off the frame and shutting the door.
A couple hours later, Caitlin's friends returned, all of them dressed up pretty nice. Y/n was lounging on the couch watching a football game, and let the curiosity get to her. "Where are y'all goin'?"
Jada and Gabby shared a look, not sure if they should tell her but Kate was oblivious to this. "We're going to a party. Did you wanna come with us?" She offered, receiving pointed looks from her teammates. Y/n grins, getting up from the couch, "fuck yeah. I love a good college party. Let me put on somethin' hot."
Jada nudged the blonde, "Kate! CC's gonna kill you!"
"What? She's our teammate now. We have to be nice or she'll hate us too." Kate argued, and she did make a good point. Nobody really wanted to be on y/n's bad side.
Caitlin came out of her room, dressed for the party. "Ready to go?"
"Uhm..."
"We're waiting for y/n. Kate invited her." Jada said, all their eyes shooting to the blonde.
"Kate, seriously?"
"Sorry if I don't wanna get on her bad side," Kate argued.
Y/n came out from her room with a simple outfit that complimented her nicely. She smirked when seen the glare Caitlin had on her. "Who's ready to go?" Caitlin huffed, storming out of the dorm as y/n chuckled. They followed her and y/n opted to just follow behind Gabby in her own car because she wasn't feeling the idea of sitting in the backseat with Caitlin.
Getting there, y/n followed them to the kitchen and got herself a drink. Music was blaring throughout the house. People were dancing, some were talking, and some were smoking. She made her way outside, Caitlin only trailing behind her because she was searching for Connor. "Yo, we got our newest Hawkeye here!" One of the jocks exclaimed, taking y/n's hand to pull her onto the table.
She grinned, loving the attention as they cheered. "Let me help you down baby." A guy off the men's basketball team held out his arms to help her off. He was one of Connor's friends, and he was insanely drunk. He set his hands on her waist and lifted her off before setting her back down on the ground carefully. "Thank you."
She glanced behind her to see one of the jocks doing a chugging contest on a keg. The guy noticed her interest and nudged her, "you wanna do that?"
"I was pretty good at it back in highschool," she shrugged, still feeling his hands on her waist. She didn't care to move them. She liked the attention he was giving her. And she liked that she didn't have to give it back. Not that she had any plans to. She didn't swing that way. "Oh you gotta do it then! Come on! Yo, Connor! She's gonna do the keg!"
She glanced over him to see Connor, his arm was around Caitlin, a big grin on his face. He didn't know too much about her other than the fact that she was crazy good in Notre Dame and that his girlfriend did not like her. "I hope she chokes on it," Caitlin mumbled under her breath.
He helped her over to the keg, "yo, our newest Hawkeye is gonna do the keg! She's gotta beat 54 seconds!" Almost instantly everyone was crowding around to see this. Girls had never done this, so this was obviously something they had to see.
"What do I get if I win?" She asked, pulling off her jacket.
"I'll give you a 100 bucks if you break the record," he offered.
"Sounds good to me. Hold onto this pretty boy." She shoved her jacket into his arms and he grinned, his friends all nudging him with their own excited grins.
She settled her hands onto the handles of the keg and flipped upside down. He grabbed onto her legs to steady her, "ready, set, go!" She got a rush of cheers as she chugged down the beer. But this was nothing Caitlin hadn't seen before. Y/n did this kinda stuff all the time in highschool. She reminded her a lot of a frat boy.
To everyone's surprise she made it to 58 seconds before she had to stop. She dropped back down and wiped her chin, everyone cheering loudly. The boys basketball team had gotten the loudest, and Caitlin had to hit Connor to stop cheering y/n on like she was his girlfriend. She held out her hand to the jock and he slapped a bill in her hand before raising her arm.
She went to walk away but Connor set a hand on her shoulder. "You're fuckin' awesome. Come to our practice sometime." She smirked, nodding her head, "I'll think about it."
She made her way into the house and went upstairs to find where the smokers were. She found them in an office like room. "Mind if I join you?" They shrugged, the guy patting the spot beside her. He passed her a joint and she took a hit just before the door opened. Caitlin coughed before walking over to grab y/n's arm and pull her out.
"What's your problem?" She groaned, letting herself be tugged down the hall where it was quieter.
Caitlin pushed her against the wall with a sharp glare. "Stay away from Connor you boyfriend stealer." Y/n rolled her eyes, of course Caitlin still had it out for her because of something that happened in highschool. "You seriously need to get over that. How is it my fault that your boyfriend asked me to prom? You should've had him under better control."
"You didn't even like him! You're a fucking lesbian! You just did that to spite me!" Caitlin spat, and somehow the fact that y/n stole her boyfriend when she was gay the whole time made it so much worse. "Is that what this is? Are you just homophobic? 'Cause baby, you need to look in the mirror."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Y/n leaned closer, her alcohol stained breath ghosting over Caitlin. "It means you look like a fucking dyke."
"Fuck you."
"Oh I know you wanna, but I'd prefer to sober for that experience," she smirked, taking a hit of the joint. She was just teasing.
"Just stay away from Connor or I'll kick your fucking ass." She pushed her back into the wall and went to walk away but paused when she seen a guy lingering in the corner. Y/n had slid down the wall weakly, the alcohol kicking in with every second. "Oh fuck me." Caitlin muttered, turning back around to get y/n.
"Come on, get up." Caitlin pulled her arm around her shoulder and helped her off the ground. She helped her downstairs and outside to where y/n's car was parked. She leaned her up against the locked door, "where are your keys?"
"My bra."
"I hate my life." Caitlin sighed, reaching into her bra to grab them, and thankfully the hoop was sticking out so she didn't have to dig in there.
She unlocked the doors and assisted y/n into the passenger seat. She went around to the driver's seat and climbed in, her new teammate trying to take a hit of the joint she still had in her hand. "Smoking is bad for you!" Caitlin grabbed the joint and tossed it out of the window with a scowl.
"You're no fun," she slurred. "Closeted bitch," she whispered under her breath so Caitlin didn't catch that.
As she drove y/n kept trying to lean over and play the music but Caitlin just smacked her hand away as if it was her car. Then she got an idea. Y/n was drunk, so anything she'd say would most likely be her thoughts when she was sober. Might as well try it out. What's the harm? "What's the real reason you transferred here?"
"Liv broke up with me."
"Who's Liv?"
She shot her a pointed look, "Olivia Miles."
Caitlin couldn't help herself. She had to laugh. "I have to applaud the girl. Nobody ever breaks up with you."
Y/n scoffed, "oh please, I was planning on dumping her anyways." That was a lie. She didn't see the breakup coming at all.
"I'm sure you were," she mumbled sarcastically. "But why Iowa? Why not commit to UConn or something? They wanted you a lot more than they wanted me." Y/n rolled her eyes, not surprised Caitlin was still bitter about that. "Is it so hard to believe I wanted to be back in Iowa? The place I grew up?"
"Given how happy you were to leave, yeah, I'd say so," she retorts.
"Believe it or not, but I actually loved Iowa growing up. I loved playing basketball here. I loved being your teammate in highschool, even if you were a cocky hothead." She said, teasing her at the end which actually made Caitlin crack a smile. "You loved being my therapist," she added back jokingly. "Someone had to stop you from throwing tantrums at every call."
"Hey- half of those calls were bullshit. Don't even get me started on your whistle. It was practically non existent, especially when you were under the basket." Y/n smiled, recalling all those times Caitlin yelled at the refs for her because y/n never liked to go back and forth with refs. She'd go back and forth with opponents but never refs.
"Crazy how you defended me all while hating me at the same time," she noted.
Caitlin shrugs meekly, "you were never my enemy on the court, only off it."
"Olivia wasn't the only reason I came back here.." Her brows furrowed in confusion, stopping at the red light and taking a glance at the girl. "I came back 'cause I wanted to finish my college career with my basketball soulmate." It didn't take a genius for Caitlin to know that was her. And she couldn't deny it either. It was true. Nobody had that connection with her on the court like y/n did.
She sighed, "I still hate you..but, I can play ball with you one last time."
Y/n cracked the smallest smile, eyes droopy from the tiredness. "I can live with that. I hate you too." She rolled down the window and leaned her head against the door to breath in the fresh air, also to her help from not throwing up. "By the way, I don't give a fuck about Connor. The question you should be asking is, why does he give a fuck about me? And why you still give a fuck about him?"
Caitlin rolled her eyes, not buying a word her drunken self said about her boyfriend. "You're just trying to break us up because you hate me and it's not gonna work."
"No, I'm trying to break you guys up because you need to realize something about your-, " and with that, she passed out.
Her face scrunched in confusion, "what do you mean-" she cut herself off, seeing y/n was already knocked out. Of course. She groaned, hitting her hand on the wheel in frustration. "Fuck!"

Their first practice went well. Caitlin was more than relieved to have a teammate under the basket who was more than capable of catching her passes and getting rebounds and blocks. It was the next day Caitlin was watching the men's team practice when she seen y/n walk in and take a seat, not announcing her presence, just sitting and observing.
Caitlin made her way over and took a seat beside her, visibly bothered by her presence. "What are you doing here?"
She shrugs, chewing on her juicy fruit gum. "Dasonte invited me."
"Does he know you're a lesbian who's not interested in him at all?"
"Does Connor know what you are as well?" She teased, receiving a glare from her teammate. "That's not funny."
She shrugs, "I was amused."
"I told you to stay away-"
"No. You told me to stay away from Connor. I'm not here for Connor, am I?" She smiled, and turned back forward to see the man himself walking over to her. He didn't even greet Caitlin, instead looking to y/n. "Hey, we're glad you could make it, y/n. You enjoying yourself so far?"
"Yeah, it's nice. Better than Notre Dame."
He laughed, nodding his head. "You wanna grab dinner with me and Cait tonight?" Caitlin's jaw dropped slightly, shooting her teammate a small warning glare.
"I would but I'm gonna hang out with Dasonte tonight. We're gonna play mini golf. I appreciate the offer though." He perked up at the response, "well me and Cait could join you guys. It could be a double date." He was really not letting up and it was beginning to irritate Caitlin and y/n.
His teammate walked over, hearing the idea, "I'm cool with that. You in, y/n?"
"Uhh, sure, why not?"

"I call purple ball." Y/n grinned, grabbing the purple golf ball and golf club.
Caitlin grabbed the yellow one and shoved her shoulder into y/n's as she walked past her. She smiled, following after her as the boys were picking out their clubs, quietly talking about the girls. She threw her arm around her teammate, "let's make a bet, C."
Caitlin rolled her eyes, pushing off y/n's arm. "What kind?"
"How about..if I win, you have to make out with me." She winks, and Caitlin laughed, not taking her serious until she realized y/n wasn't letting up. "W-Wait, seriously? Why would you even want that?"
"Let's call it...my gift to you."
Caitlin scoffed, finally figuring it out. That's what this had been about. The stuff she said in the car, the jokes and comments about her being in the closet. "You think kissing you is gonna turn me gay?" She nodded confidently, a smirk pulled at her glossed lips. "Fine. You're on."
Y/n grinned, "and what do you want if you win?"
It didn't take her longer than a second to think about it. "You have to switch dorms."
"Deal." In reality, either one of these was a win win for her. Did she like the idea of kissing Caitlin? Not really. But, she knew doing this would finally prove Caitlin wrong after all these years of her denying liking girls. And God did she love to prove Caitlin Clark wrong.
The boys didn't know about the bet so it was definitely confusing to see Caitlin and y/n get frustrated and competitive over miniature golf. They were towards the end, whoever got theirs in first won. The stakes were high. Tensions were high. Y/n waited for Dasonte to go before stepping up next for her turn. She smirked, shooting Caitlin a wink before hitting her ball into the hole.
"Fuck!" Caitlin threw her club in frustration, Connor trying to console her even though he had no idea what the problem was. He knew she hated losing but this was a lot.
"Golf lessons paid off." Y/n mumbled, walking over to her date who she was ready to friend zone once the night was over.
When they got back to their dorm, it was filled with silence. Y/n kicked off her shoes and walked over to the couch to lay down, Caitlin completely confused by her actions. "Are we doing this or not?" Y/n glanced over to her, shrugging her shoulder. "We'll do it whenever you're ready, Clark."
Caitlin pulled off her jacket and walked over. "Then let's do it and get this stupid shit over with so you can finally leave me the fuck alone."
Y/n smirked, overdosed on confidence as she sat up straight. Caitlin took a seat beside her, mentally preparing herself for this. "Ready whenever you are." She stared forward, waiting for Caitlin to finally be ready. She took a breath, and opened her eyes, "okay, I'm ready. You have 5 seconds. Just hurry up and kiss me."
She didn't waste a second, leaning forward to finally connect their lips. Caitlin's mouth was closed as first, up until she opened it and allowed the kiss to deepen. She couldn't stop. She didn't want to stop. To keep y/n from pulling away she slipped her hand behind her head to keep it going. It was long past five seconds.
Running out of air is what made them finally pull away. It was silent. Caitlin was quiet, a million things running through that mind of hers. Y/n just waited patiently, leaning against the cushions as she watched the realization hit her teammate. The realization she'd been waiting for since highschool when Caitlin rejected her advances in freshman year. "You were right." She gulped, leaning against the cushions as she collected her thoughts.
"Figures. Good night." Y/n stood up to leave to her room but Caitlin stopped her by grabbing onto her wrist. "What? You're just gonna leave?"
"Look, I don't like you, Clark. We may have a connection on that court but that's all it is. Just cause I helped you realize somethin' about yourself doesn't mean I'm gonna be your girlfriend now." Caitlin scoffed, her grip tightening on her wrist, that hate for her still ignited. "Oh, please. Don't fucking flatter yourself. The last thing I wanna be is your girlfriend."
"Then what do you want, Caitlin? You want me to have sex with you now?" She was truly being sarcastic when she said that, but then again, she wasn't opposed.
She shrugged, "yeah, I do actually." It wasn't like she wasn't attracted to y/n. She always thought she was attractive, even in highschool. She just never imagined anything more than that until now. Until that kiss.
She chuckled in amusement, "what about your boyfriend?"
"Who said he had to know?"
She tilts her head, amusement coating her features as she sat back down on the couch. "Oh, I like this side of you. It's hot."
She rolled her eyes, "oh shut up. You wanna do this or what?"
"On one condition. We'll still hate each other." She squints, not understanding why she'd still want that, not that she minded much 'cause she still hated y/n. A kiss wasn't change that. "I actually kinda like hating you. It keeps us humble."
Caitlin pursed her lips before eventually just shrugging, "fine by me."
Y/n stood up and took her hand, "come on then. We're not doing it on a couch." Caitlin pulled her hand out of hers and followed her to the room. It was y/n's room. She wasn't gonna let y/n lay in her bed. No way.
As she got undressed, Caitlin noticed the picture of y/n and Olivia on the bedside table. She picked it up with a smirk. "I bet I could fuck you better than Olivia does."
Y/n sat down, stripped to her underwear and bra, Caitlin setting the picture down to take a look at her. Her breath caught but she played it off like she wasn't affected, not about to give y/n the pleasure of knowing she was turned on by her body. She was already overdosed on confidence, why give her more? "You just learned how to kiss a girl. I wouldn't go that far."
"I stand by what I said. I'm a quick learner..and you seem relatively easy to please." Y/n shot her a glare, standing up to shove her. "Fuck you." Caitlin smirked, loving how riled up she got over the smallest things. "Oh, I'll let you." She pushed her back onto the bed and pulled her shirt over her head, tossing it to the floor somewhere.
"You're such a bitch."
"And you fuckin' love it."
