"INTRIGUING, ISN'T IT?"
The third year's stood before a dresser, and a rusty one at that. If they knew Lupin, they knew he had something up his sleeve for this lesson. The dresser started shaking, like something was something was trapped inside, eager to come out.
"Would anyone like to venture a guess as to what is inside?" Lupin asked.
A student raised their hand. "That's a Boggart, sir."
"Now, can anybody tell me what a Boggart looks like?"
Everyone stood in their spot, frozen. Just staring at the dresser. Before Ron knew it, Hermione was standing besides him, her hair in a bun ready to explain something to the class. Ron's eyes widen at the Granger girl's presence. What the? He thought to himself. "No one knows."
"When'd she get here?" Ron inquired.
"Boggarts are shape-shifters," Hermione informed the class. "They take the shape of whatever a particular person fears most. That's what makes them so..."
"So terrifying. Yes. Yes, yes, yes," Lupin nodded, drifting towards the Boggart. "Luckily, a very simple charm exists to repel a Boggart."
"Let's practice it now."
The Boggart continued thudding and shaking. No one could tell, from behind the door another old "student" was watching it all, peaking from behind the door. It was ( Y/N ). A light smile appeared on her features, spotting Harry, Hermione and Don in the crowd of students.
Harry felt like someone was watching him. He couldn't tell if it was the Dementors again or his scar. He frowned in confusion and turned around. But before he could see anyone, the person was gone. Harry shrugged, turning his attention back to Professor Lupin.
But someone else might've.
"Uh, without wands, please," Professor Lupin added. "After me: Riddikulus."
"Riddikulus!" The class repeated.
"Riddikulus," ( Y/N ) muttered before drifting away in fear of someone seeing her.
Professor Lupin nodded. "A little louder, and very clear. Listen. Riddikulus!"
"Riddikulus!"
Draco rolled his eyes. "This class is ridiculous."
"Very good," Lupin smiled. "Well, so much for the easy part. You see, the incantation alone is not enough."
Professor Lupin continued his explanation of the charm. After that, Neville took a shot at it, making Professor Snape wear his grandmother's close. Then the whole class gathered up in a messy line, eager to go next.
First it was Ron's turn; his fear of spiders was well known, so the best way to deal was that was turn their legs into roller skates. Pavarti went after him, turning a snake in a Jack in the box. And now it was Harry. First his face was full of determination, but it soon faded as the clown turned into the surprising fear of a Dementor.
He thought it was going to be Tom Riddle or Tom Riddle as Voldemort, but things changed. Lupin jumped in front of him, placing his arms in front in a protective manner. "Here!"
The dementor turned into the night sky. "Riddikulus!"
Air whooshed from the balloon as it flew around the room. The students gasped, the balloon almost hitting them. Lupin threw the Boggart back inside.
"Right, well, sorry about that," Lupin stammered. "Uh, that's enough for today. If you'd all like to collect your books from the back of the class, that's the end of the lesson."

IT WAS FINALLY the day of the Hogsmead field trips. Everyone was filled with excitement and joy all into one. A few other students rushed out, gripping onto their permission letters.
Mcgonagall stood in front of the group of students, informing them on the rules. "Now, remember, these visits to Hogsmeade Village are a privilege."
"Should your behavior reflect poorly on the school in any way that privilege shall not be extended again," Mcgonagall added as a few more students handed letters to Filch.
Harry stood in front of her, with a little hope inside. Mcgonagall gave him a sympathetic look, knowing the situation he's in, but remembering the rules. Of course, this is Professor Mcgonagall we're talking about so she wasn't going to let the rules slide, though, she wished she could.
"No permission formed signed, no visiting the village," Mcgonagall told him. "That's the rule, Potter."
"All those with permission, follow me," Filch said as they started walking away. "Those without, stay."
"But Professor, I thought if you signed it, then I could go," Harry stopped her.
Mcgonagall shook her head. "I can't. Only a parent or a guardian can sign. Since I'm neither, it would be inappropriate."
Before she left, she placed a hand on Harry's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Potter. That's my final word."
Hermione and Ron stood behind, wanting to stay with him.
"Forget about it, guys. See you later."
As they left, Hermione gave him a little wave before turning back to the group.

"PROFESSOR, CAN I ASK YOU SOMETHING?"
Harry and Lupin stood on the bridge, looking at the foggy surroundings. Something has been bugging harry; Why did Lupin stop him from facing the dementor?
Professor Lupin gave him a knowing look. "You want to know why I stopped you facing that Boggart, yet?"
"I would have thought it'd be obvious," Lupin continued. "I assumed it would take the shape of Lord Voldemort."
"I did think of Voldemort at first," Harry replied. "But then I remembered that night on the train, and the dementor."
Lupin smiled. "Well, I'm very impressed. That suggests that what you fear the most is fear itself. This is very wise."
"Before I fainted, I heard something," Harry added. "A woman... screaming."
"Well, dementors force us to relive our very worst memories," Lupin explained. "Our pain becomes their power."
Harry knew who it was. At first he thought it was ( Y/N ), that night in the Chamber of Secrets, but now he was sure it was his mum, Lily Potter.
"I think it was my mother, the night she was murdered,"
"You know, the very first time I saw you, Harry, I recognized you immediately," Lupin told him, a bright smile appearing on his features remembering sweet Lily. "Not by your scar, by your eyes."
Harry wasn't surprised. At least half the Professors here know his parents and most of the students here have heard of them from Quidditch or something.
"They're your mother Lily's. Yes. Oh, yes," Lupin sighed. "I knew her. Your mother was there for me at a time when no one else was. Not only was she a singularly gifted witch, she was also an uncommonly kind woman."
Lupin drifted away from Harry to the other side of the bridge. "She had a way of seeing the beauty in others. Even, and perhaps most especially, when that person could not see it in themselves. Well, your father, James, on the other hand, he, uh... he had a certain, shall we say, talent for trouble."
A light smile formed on Harry's features. Everything he was saying about James sounded just about right considering Harry's record for breaking school rules.
"A talent, rumors has it, he passed on to you," Lupin continued, leaning onto the railing. "You're more like them than you know, Harry."

NIGHT FELL ON the Hogwarts ground and ( Y/N ) took it as a sign to come back to the hut. Even with it, her footsteps crunched quietly on the rocks beneath their shoes, but other than that it seemed like the surrounding forest was silent. The only noise were moaning coming from the dementors, floating around the Hogwarts grounds.
She was lucky she was able to avoid them, with the odds she had. The dementors were everywhere, one time she saw a dementor frost a flower. Those things were more terrifying than the snake monster in the Chamber of Secrets... okay, they were both equally terrifying.
( Y/N ) jumped, but settled hearing the familiar bark of Fang. But the settle feeling soon faded when she saw Hagrid standing at the door, staring with a mix of disappointment and anger. ( Y/N ) sighed, her stare turning into a glare.
Hagrid and Fang entered with Hagrid slamming the door shut. ( Y/N ) slowly entered, opening the door a moment later.
————————————
"FRIENDS DON'T LIE. Isn't that your bloody saying?" Hagrid snapped at her. ( Y/N ) tried going back out again, but Hagrid held the door with fury.
This is the first time ( Y/N )'s seen Hagrid like this. He was usually a nice half-giant, but this was something different. He was angrier.
"Hey, hey! Hey! Don't walk away from me!" Hagrid raised his voice. "Where'd Yer go on your field trip, huh?"
( Y/N ) ignored him, taking off her coat and throwing it to the floor. Fang whimpered, yeah, the big dog, taking a step back to the large table and nearly knocking a plate off. "Where?"
Once again, no response.
"Did you go see Harry?"
( Y/N ) rolled her eyes. "He didn't see me."
"Yeah, well, Malfoy did and they told Fudge," Hagrid informed. "Now, did anyone else see you? Anyone at all?"
"Nobody saw me!" ( Y/N ) snapped.
Hagrid sighed. "You put us in danger. You realize that, right?"
"You promised... I go!" ( Y/N ) exclaimed. "And I never leave! Nothing ever happens!"
"Yeah! Nothing happens and Yer stay safe!" Hagrid slammed a fist down on a table.
"You lie!"
"I don't lie! I protect and I feed and I teach!" Hagrid replied. "And all I ask of yer is that you follow three simple rules. And yer know what? You can't even do that!"
Hagrid walked to the other side of the hut, leaving ( Y/N ) on her side. "You're grounded. You know what that means?"
"It means no... Cauldron Cakes," he listed off. "And no radio for a week."
( Y/N ) glared at the radio, freezing it in its spot. Hagrid stood back up, a little surprised even he couldn't lift it up. "All right, cut it out. Let go."
She shook her head. Hagrid tried lifting it up again, more furious than ever. Blood was dripping from ( Y/N )'s nose.
"Okay. Two weeks," he tried again but it wouldn't work. "All right. A month."
"No!"
"Well, congratulations," Hagrid flat out unplugged it. "You just graduated from no radio for a month to no tv at all!"
( Y/N )'s eyes widened. "No!"
She ran over trying to plug it back in, but didn't know how.
"You have got to understand that there are consequences to yer actions," Hagrid told her.
"You are like papa!" ( Y/N ) yelled.
"Really? Wow! All right. You wanna go back in the lab?" Hagrid wondered. "One letter, I can make it happen."
( Y/N ) pointed a finger at him. "I hate you."
"Yeah, well, I'm not so crazy about yer, either," Hagrid continued. "You know why? 'Cause you're a brat. You know what that word means? How about that be your word for the day, huh! Brat. B-r-a-t."
He threw a book towards ( Y/N ), but she was able to check it in the air. She threw it back at him.
"Hey! What the bloody hell is wrong with you?"
( Y/N ) slammed the couch into his legs and walked to the others side of the hut where her bed was. Before he could follow, she threw a shelf in his spot.
"Hey! You wanna go out in the world? Then grow up," Hagrid stated. "Grow the bloody hell up!"
( Y/N ) screamed, pounding her fists on the floor. The windows shattered around them, the glass nearly hitting Hagrid. He looked around, panting for breathe.
hello! i miss this book. also, the fight scene was hard to write since hagrid's hut only has so much room.
- see you soon, meg !
