Majority of the Straw Hats were back together after the events with the sand pirates, fixing their ship back together and saved the three who were held captured by them, which was a misunderstanding in the end.
They were walking through the desert now towards the next town, that Vivi told them they would be passing by and hoped Ace would be in there, or somewhere close by since he still hadn't shown up yet.
(Y/N) was walking up front beside her brother who was carrying Happy in his arms, the trio trying not to think about how thirsty they were, and instead worried about where their older brother currently was in the lands.
Their footsteps in the sand was the only thing that was heard right now, the group saving their strength by not talking as much. However a familiar voice was suddenly calling out from afar, "Hey!"
Everyone made a confused noise hearing the sound coming from up front in the distance, narrowing their gazes to stop Ace who was coming towards them on a purple lizard, the creature dragging something behind him, "Hey guys!"
"Ace!" (Y/N) wailed out happily with Luffy and Happy in sync with her, the girl breaking out into a sprint now altering Zoro and Sanji, watching her tackle Ace back into a embrace once he hopped off the lizard.
The male caught her by under the thighs, chuckling loudly at his sister hyper energy as he fondly pats her head placed against the side of his, "I missed you too, snips." He muses a tease, gaining a cheek pull from her fingers and pouted at him.
"What is this thing?" Luffy questioned grinning at their older brother, moving a bit over with Happy in his arms still as Ace gently placed down (Y/N) onto the sand now.
Instead of answering the said question, he replied with something else laughing, and had one of his hands perched on his hip, "Oh! So you're the sand pirates!"
"Eh? What do you mean?" Happy pondered lost, tilting his head to the side that had the other two copying him, and his big eyes narrowed down on Ace, "We just left the sand pirates, who tried to eat me!"
Ace blinked a bit rapidly hearing the cat's words, and sighed shaking his head, "Anyways, great new, guys!" He exclaimed joyfully, and motioned to the sleigh of supplies behind the lizard he rode, "I brought plenty of food and water!"
"Oh! Much appreciated!" Sanji voiced his gratitude once he, Zoro and the others came over to the four of them, coming to stand beside his captain giving her a sweet smile, "This should be more than enough for a good while!"
She returned the look with a closed eyed grin that had Sanji doing a love dance around her, before getting wacked in the back by a grumbling Zoro behind him and it now had them cursing at each other fighting making the crew all smack their foreheads knowingly.
Ignoring the commotion they were causing, she turned to the two creatures by her legs now, and patted the top of their heads gently, "Happy, Chopper, you should get some water now." She coaxed in a motherly tone pointing at the barrel Ace brought on the sleigh.
"Yeah! I'm thirsty too!" Luffy bellowed excitedly also beside his sister, eyes going sparkle running up to the barrel that had dust flying back into (Y/N)'s face.
She yelped at that trying to bend it away with her hands up, and the others to all yell at him for doing that to her, as Happy and Chopper were shoving Luffy out of the way together before he finished all the water off.
"Um, Ace?" Vivi's voice was heard over the scene next to the sleigh, she getting off Eyelashes to walk over to the male also watching the crew with a smile, "I assume you don't have the money for that. Don't tell me you stole it from that village..."
He waved his hand around in the air near his face, quick to defend himself at the claim, "Nothing of the sort! The rebel army gave it to me!" He assured the princess, even though he knew the army wasn't actually one.
"The rebel army?!" She repeated gasping out shocked, eyes expanding ten times than normal, and it had Luffy, Chopper and Happy pausing their drinking hearing the news.
"Well, I should say 'clearly fake rebel soldiers' to be more precise." Ace corrected himself, remembering the group he meet in that town a few meters back away from them, "Basically, they call themselves rebel soldiers and were hired to protect the village. The villagers are so grateful that they've been completely fooled. They're really just some hoodlums."
Vivi remained quiet trying to take in this information Ace just explained to them, where as Nami went to step forward a little bit, and questioned incredulously, "And they're bodyguards? Wouldn't they get found out right away?"
"Apparently, the mere mention of the rebel army will send most bandits running." Ace answered shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly, turning his gaze to her briefly also, "It's real convenient. Makes money and prestige come rolling your way on its own."
(Y/N) left Happy and Chopper with her brother, moving up where Vivi was seeing how conflicted she looked right now, and placed her arm onto her robes sleeve, to give a gentle squeeze of reassurance.
The princess gripped the girls hand tightly in her own, covering it with her own one, "Rebel soldiers aren't hoodlums, nor does the title serve as decoration." She spoke lowly, head tilted downwards to hide her face.
Sanji took a puff from his lit cigarette that his beloved did for him, and took it out from his mouth into two of his fingers, staring at the blue haired girl, "Vivi, should we teach 'em a lesson?"
"I dunno. Duping the villagers isn't so different from what bandits do." Ace interrupted now, speaking his opinion on the topic smiling lazily at Vivi, "At the very last, the villagers live in peace with them around. Should we get 'em just the same?"
Vivi scrunched her knuckles up by her sides very much so conflicted, as she knew they needed to hurry but she also wanted to see if these fake soldiers were reliable, "Now that the kingdom can't keep watch over every little place, there's nothing wrong with villagers upholding public safety on their own whenever possible."
Nami went to open her mouth to say something about the situation, but Vivi turned her head back to her with a confident smile, and than back to (Y/N) still standing beside her, "No. I want to test them first. If these imposter rebel soldiers truly wish to protect the villagers, I don't think it matters what they call themselves."
"So you want to test what's in their hearts, huh?" Her idea had Aces' interests peaked now, his mouth formed into a toothy smirk and tilted his head to the side a bit.
Vivi nodded her head strongly, eyes flickering on everyone around her in the crew, "Yes. So, I have to ask, but there's something I'd like you all to do." She asked of them, which had the group smiling in agreement.
"Of course, Vi! We did promise do help you after all." (Y/N) chirped out grinning down at the princess who was a bit shorter than her, gaining a flustered expression in response, and a few of the others to send thumbs up also.
⚔️🏴☠️⚔️
The plan was set in motion now to test the fake rebel soldiers, to see if they really would live up to their words, and that if they actually could protect the town and the many people living inside of it.
Camus, a tall lanky-looking man with spiky blonde hair and a large nose was the leader of the group of three others, and right now was walking through the town hearing about the pirates causing trouble out front.
However, they weren't excepting the entire population in that town to follow them all the way to the entrance, which had the fake rebels panicking realising they couldn't run away now, and had to some how fight.
"Alright. We got one shot at this." Camus spoke to his three older friends once they reached the entrance, gun hanging on his shoulder in his gloved hand, "Once we're out, immediately figure out which direction is pirate-free and then run for your lives? Got it?!"
He gained nods of heads from the three in agreement, and it made Camus turn back around to place his palms onto the closed door, getting ready to act on their plan, "Here goes! One, two, three-!"
Pushing open the massive blue doors that had a cat figure head on the outside, the group quickly run out sweating nervously wanting to flee, but also paused mid away spotting something in the distance.
In front of them was the familiar figure of (Y/N) standing there, her arms crossed over her chest with the straw hat creating a shadow over her face to look more intimidating. Happy was hovering beside her also looking cool in that moment, his head turned down to also show the fake rebels his flickering ears.
When the panicking four tried to move away to another direction, two more figure appeared from behind the girl also looking very scary with their faces covered by shadows. Zoro was on her left holding onto his swords, and Sanji was on her right with a lit cigarette in his mouth.
Every direction they tried to turn to or get away through, was met with the same fate, all the Straw Hats covering each section so there was no escape, expect for Nami and Vivi who were watching from afar to observe.
"Get 'em, get 'em, rebel army!" One of the towns people cheered from behind them in the doorway, hands raised up into the air which had Camus internally sulking hearing it.
"What's that?! You're a rebel solider?" Luffy's voice bellowed in a deeper tone playing the act of scary, his footsteps being heard as he went up beside his quiet sister now, and they both exposed one glaring eye at Camus.
The spiked haired male freaked out shaking his head from side to side rapidly, "N-no, nothing of the sort!" He assured in a protest stuttering, and waved his hand out front to them, "We're just travelers passing through!"
One of the towns people had made it up onto the top of the doors entrance, him being the small male from before wearing glasses, "Say your prayers, sea pirates!" He yelled confidently, pointing a finger at them, "These rebel soldiers are gonna make mincemeat out of you!"
"Be quiet, you!" Camus shrieked back up at the male sulking, and spotted more of the towns people appearing behind the glasses guy, which had the fake rebels dying even more.
"Right! How utterly rude of me!" The glasses male sheepishly apologised, and rubbed the back of his stubby head smiling down at them, "Good luck, Camus!"
From a few meters back behind a rock in the desert, Vivi and Nami were peaking out from it to watch the scene play out, and also were protecting the supplies Ace had managed to get for them.
All the villagers were now cheering encouraging words for the fake rebels, that were their saviour and protector in their eyes, even if Camus' group were a bunch of selfish, and scaredy cats wanting to run away.
"Hey!" (Y/N) was now talking in an authority tone, puffing out her chest to seem more indmating as she tilts her head to the side, making one her eyes peak through the straw hat, "You really are rebel soldiers after all!"
Sanji almost broke character hearing how she sounded, and found it extremely attractive, so much so that he had to bite down on the blunt in between his lips to calm himself, and moved his body just behind hers.
The same thing was happening with Zoro also, trying to push away those no so innocent thoughts about her, and gripped his swords handles tightly breathing heavily, as he positioned himself next to the quiet cook close to her.
Happy though he noticed the entire thing from hovering about them all, stiffing his amused snicker in his paw and flew back down to now land on top of his best friends shoulder, going back to acting scary.
"N-no, it isn't, uh..." Camus tried to explain the situation, him and his other three friends in tears as they sweat panicked not knowing what to do now. It was either fight, lie or do both and somehow get away without getting hurt too bad from the pirates.
"Wh-what now, Big Bro?" One of his friends asked in a terrified tone, voice coming out wobbly staring at the 'evil pirates' in front of them in each direction.
The one wearing massive red boxing gloves nodded his head, and gulped looking at Camus through his pink goggles over his eyes, "We last our chance to escape."
"Hey, you guys!" A familiar voice called from behind them, it belonging to Ace who was now standing in the shadows of the open entrance, which had the group trying to find him, "This is your fight. Try to get it through it on your own."
"We can't do that!" Camus whispered yelled back frantically glancing around wanting to see the guy they met before, and gripped his weapon in one hand not wanting to use it, "We're fakes!"
Ace just grinned more flashing his teeth, which was the only visible thing seen from where he stood and hid from everyone's sight, "If you're men, act like it." He claimed in encouragement, "How long are you gonna keep up this petty crap of yours?"
This had Camus pausing hearing the words he knew was right, thinking back to his childhood for a second as he looked back to (Y/N), and the four males around her waiting for the fake rebels to make a move.
"We have no choice now but to lie our way out of this, impostor-style!" He grunted in a lower tone to his friends confusion them, before he took confident steps forward to the 'evil pirates', "Listen! Don't be shocked by what I have to say! We're not the only rebel soldiers here! In the village there are.." He trailed off to announce loudly, "100 million more soldiers like us!"
Usopp grimaced with an unamused expression over his face, standing next to Chopper who was in his taller beast form, and Usopp commented, "Oh, geez. That's worse than a kid's lie."
"You're no one to talk." Sanji voiced in a mumble flicking his blunt out near the sharp shooter, who sulked offended and shrieked for him to shut up now having shark teeth that left the cook unbothered.
Both the Monkey D. siblings remined quiet for a few seconds to process the information, sharing a look between each other and with Happy, before their eyes all went wide in shock, "What?! 100 MILLION?!" The three all screeched out in sync, the only one who actually believed the lying male.
This had Zoro sweat dropping at their naive ways, the girls being the worst remembering all the times he had to save her from getting scammed, or info serious trouble.
"No way you bought that, (N/N)!" He exclaimed in a deadpan, spinning her around by the shoulders to face him as she was sulking and in disbelief, "He's obviously bluffing!"
"Don't yell at our captain like that, moss-head!" Sanji snarled out in a protective yell, forcefully shoving Zoro away with by kicking his side, and glared angrily down at the swordsman having his back facing the confused girl.
Zoro bared his teeth standing up from the sand he was knocked down onto, butting heads with Sanji straight away who was growling just like him, "I wasn't yelling at her!" He scowled back, not arguing about the fact the cook said 'our', "I was only scolding her like the worried first mate I am!"
The rest of the crew mates deadpanned once more at the regular behaviour between them, not expecting anything else from the dedicated males. She just giggled to herself watching them fight fondly, and heard Happy's familiar teasing drawl in her ears quietly 'someone's in loveeee~' which gained him a knuckle to the top of his head.
"You! How dare you trick us?!" Luffy now exclaimed annoyed back at Camus, lifting him up fist into the air snarling out raged, "I can let me getting lied to slide, but never my sister or Happy!"
The colour drained from Camus face seeing how upset Luffy was about getting lied too, and backed up a few steps even more nervous now, "Damn! They realised I was lying!"
"Gum-Gum Pistol!" He lifted up his leg into the air, pulling back one of his arms, and sent that fist flying straight into Camus' face, that had him getting flown back along the sandy ground in result.
His twitch body landed back inside the towns pathway through the gates, his landing being softened a bit from (Y/N)'s powers, and he now had a blood nose with his eyes rolled up close to knocking out.
"What was that?" One of his friends with a diamond tattoo panicked, all their jaw drops in completely shock seeing their hurt leader, and how he actually got so far back into the town from where they stood outside.
Vivi and Nami were also worried that the siblings were going to go too far, as this wasn't part of the plan yet to KO him for good, "You idiots! It's all over if you knock him out!" The navigator whispered yelled, eyes wide on the laughing duo near the doors entrance, "Then what would we do?!"
(Y/N) flicked her hair back over her shoulder narrowing her gaze down on Camus, this bit being her time to act out part of the skit, "Stay here for a second." She spoke back to her brother, the agruning males, and Happy who all instantly looked to her seeing her cheeky smile.
Happy understand what she meant, and hopped down off her head, into Sanji's arms who held him carefully. Luffy gave a signal nod of confirmation for her to go, and grinning also watching his sister now walk off towards the fake rebels, and stepped forward a bit ready to intervene if she needed him to do so.
Without turning back to them she eerily trailed towards the nervous fake rebels, flashing them a demonic grin that had her eyes scrunching up at the sides.
She heard some of the towns children yelling out for Camus to get back up, and chuckled fondly inside her head at that, knowing she wasn't going to kill or harm the male unless he provoked her to do so.
Camus thought back to the very reason why he wanted to be a rebel, a saviour and protector in the first place, which was in his childhood memories that inspired him to do so.
The King of country, and his soldiers riding through the streets, and how the children were running around freely without a care in the world. That was the final push he needed to succeed in his dream, even if he couldn't reach it, he would try for the children around him.
Just as she was going to try and send a not so strong air blast at the cowering rebels, with that eerier smile still shown, something, or rather someone had grabbed a hold of her braceleted wrist stopping her mid way.
Standing there now was a panting Camus with a bleeding nose from Luffy's attack, shaking hand holding onto her wrist in a tight grip, but not hard enough to leave any bruises, as she wasn't the one who punched him, nor did he want to send one back at her.
"Yes, we're fake rebel soldiers. Even if all we want is to be as strong as the heroes we saw as kids," He started off in a determined tone, still breathing heavily holding onto her wrist, "we're just as bunch of scoundrels now. But, even if my dream never comes true, I can't take those kids' dreams away! Even if I'm no match for you, I'm going to fight so that someday those kids can beat you all!" His grip on her wrist becomes a bit looser now, "If my only other choice is to remain a punk in those kids' memories, then I'd rather die as a hero right here!"
After his long declaration her lips lifted up into a proud grin, and hummed in approval to him, "Good. I'm glad you came to your senses." She spoke in a quiet tone, and sent a cheeky wink that had Camu slightly lost and flustered, "You're going to have to pretend to hit me now, and don't worry I'll make it look real."
He made a confused sound hearing her words that only he could, deciding to trust her since she hasn't hurt any of them, and slipped his fingers away from around her wrist to release it from his hold.
Pulling back his knuckle now to his side, he swinged it towards her cheek that just missed her by a split second, and she pretended to be actually hit falling onto the ground a few meters back, shocking Camus' friends behind him at her easy defeat.
Luffy and Happy didn't move a muscle from their spot watching her get 'hit', as the duo knew this was just an act but still couldn't help but feel mad at Camus for even thinking about hurting her. Zoro was the same way as the two beside him, and even had his jaw clenched tightly not enjoying the sight of her on the ground defeated.
However, Sanji was the oppiste even if he knew about the plan, and was growling low in the back of his throat, "Bastard!" He sneers out scrunching his knuckles up, going to take a step forward to protect her, but was met with Zoro's arm outstretching to stop him from doing so.
The signal for the Straw Hats to come back was being shown now, Vivi using a piece of glass to make a beam of light shine onto Usopp's robe from her spot with Nami behind the rocks.
He blinked rapidly when the beam went into his eyes, narrowing his gaze down on the rocks behind him spotting the girls waving, "Hey! Retreat! Retreat!" He whispered to Sanji beside him, who made a confused noise to busy being focused on his captain out front.
"Sea pirates or not, bring it on!" Camus yelled his declaration of confidence, rising his fists up into the air which had (Y/N) siting up from the ground smiling happily, "Over my dead body will I let you take one step into this village!"
She clapped in approval for him, and released a jolly laugh that echoed around the area, "That's more like it!" She praised still clapping, not seeing her brothers rubber arms now stretching forward to grab her, "Now me and Lu can go beat up Crocodile without worrying!"
Camus was left stunned hearing her say this to him, not really understanding it now as he watched her figure go flying back into the air yelling, and landed into Zoro's arms who was running back with the others.
Luffy dumped her into the swordsman care since he was holding onto Happy also laughing. She wrapped her arms around Zoro's shoulders the best she could, giggling excitedly pressing her cheek against his tanned blushing ones, and felt him pull her close to his chest.
"Those bastards! Those are rebel soldiers for ya!" Sanji was yelling out knowingly to the crowd, but also internally sulking seeing his beloved in Zoro's arm, but would't argue about it since she was safe regardless.
"I've never seen such strong people before!" Usopp also joined in on the hinting praising, hands placed on either side of his mouth to project his voice, and was running next behind Sanji carrying Luffy and Happy now.
It was Zoro's turn next who just pushed his blushing face into the crook of (Y/N)'s neck hiding away, still holding her bridal style, "I suck at plays like this." He grumbled embarrassed, and she giggled sweetly patting the back of his orange cloth around his head comfortingly.
"W-wait for me!" Chopper exclaimed panicked, trying to keep up with the group in his bigger form lagging behind, and he eventually catched up with them once the crew was away from the celebrating village.
