THE STRAW HATS RAN AWAY THROUGH THE TOWN HEARING THE MARINES GETTING CLOSER, the sun slowly setting also over the environment making everything a dull yellow colour, and the edge of the town was coming into view the more the pirates ran.
Chopper was approaching the crew from within a moving crab, waving his hoof in the air smiling happily, "Hey guys!" He greets in a cheery tone, brightening up more when Happy waved back just as eager to see him.
Usopp's jaw dropped seeing the massive crab coming toward them through the sand, the crew coming to stop just before the two as (Y/N) laughs loudly standing in between a smirking Sanji, and Zoro holding Happy in her arms.
She stumbled a bit forward when the ground was rumbling from the crab coming to a skidding stop, causing Happy to shriek clinging onto her, and the males on both side to steady her by the shoulders without looking. In thanks, she smiled at them sheepishly, eye twitching at Happy's teasing.
The moving crab had one smaller claw then the other he had, clipping them a bit once he stopped in front of the Straw Hat crew, his two beady eyes staring down and a wide grin. It was a sight indeed.
"Hope on board!" Chopper calls down to them peeking his head over the crabs massive back, grinning happily feeling relived that he found his friends again.
"We get to ride it?! Woo-hoo!" Luffy cheered sharing an excited look with his sister who laughed, watching him stretch his arms up to the crabs eye, and slammed straight into. The crab sweatdropped, and moved his eyes to look at Luffy on him.
Nami walked up to the crab narrowing her gaze on the creature, and crossed her arms a bit suspicious, "It's face looks kind of iffy, doesn't it?" She asked out loud not liking how it always had the weird smile on his face.
"He's lashes's friend." Chopper informs them just as the crew started to come up on the crab, stepping onto his claws to be slowly lifted up into the air, "Lashes was born in this town, and has lots of friends in the area."
(Y/N) was helped down off the crabs leg by Zoro's arms taking a hold of her waist, making her flush a bit up at him when he set her down onto the crab's back, but stopped when once more Happy's teasing voice rang out in her ear.
"Someone's got a crush~" He drawled out behind his paw snickering, being perched behind her shoulders until she tugged on his ears and he yelped in pain, quickly hoping off to see her scowling annoyed.
Vivi gaped in awe at the creature chopper managed to get, eye beaming looking around at everyone and then back to the crab, "Amazing! Moving crabs are always submerged under the sand, so they're very nearly phantom crabs!"
"This guy's pretty fast, isn't he?" Zoro spoke up in question leaning back a bit on (Y/N)'s legs who was behind him standing, him hitting his white sword case on his shoulders in thought.
Chopper smiled at Happy sat beside him holding onto the ropes that controlled the crab, "Guys, hand on tight!" He warns them all, before lifting up the rope to pull it down once to signal move, "Alright, let's go! We're off!"
The moving crab pushed himself up from his resting position feeling the tug, and began to crawl sideways along the desert with his many legs, creating dust as he did so.
However none of them saw what was incoming behind them before it was too late. A familiar object of Crocodile's gold hook was flying through the air, and swoops down to quickly capture Vivi's in its grasps, pulling her screaming figure into the air off the crab.
This set the Straw Hats off in panic seeing her no longer on the crab and inside the hook, as Zoro goes to spin around to two animals in charge of driving exclaiming loudly, "Stop, Chopper, Happy!"
They both listened to the commend pulling the ropes to make the crab come to a harsh skidding stop along the sand, and almost knocked Luffy down if it weren't for his sister pushing him back up with her airbending.
"Happy, let's go!" (Y/N) yelled alerted looking at the hook holding onto Vivi, her gaze turning into a scowl realising who it was, and began to run toward the end of the crab wanting to save her friend.
"Aye, sir!" The cat called back in his normal chirpy tone, sprouting his white wings to come fly along side her, ignoring the others trying to call them back as they got more to the edge of the crab.
Before anyone could do anything to stop them both, she was jumping off the crab hearing Luffy, Zoro and Sanji shout out to her, but she blocked them out to boost herself up towards the hook using her firebending.
Once her hand latched onto the gold hook, she swiftly manoeuvred Vivi out of it into her arms safety making the girl cling onto her, and looked towards Happy flying beside them, the wind blowing through her hair under the straw hat.
"Happy! Take her and protect the others!" She ordered quickly throwing the shouting princess to the cat, who caught her easily in his paws, and flew them back fast towards the crab.
Zoro caught them both in his arms next seeing how Happy was struggling from not having much magic power left, and set them down gently, before his wide, and terrfied gaze went back to his captain, "Hey, (Y/N)!"
Sanji was also in the same state as the swordsman standing a bit beside him, and felt his stomach churn for her safety as she got further away, "(Y/N)! What are you doing?!" He used her full name, showing he really was panicked.
Instead of meeting their gazes she met the wide eyed gaze of her brother, and Happy, a reassure smile making its way across her face despite being upside down, "Don't worry about me!" She yelled back laughing holding onto the hook more, "You guys go on ahead! I can handle this myself!"
Luffy remined quiet holding onto Happy more in his arms who also was silent, both of their expressions being hidden by a shadow which had the crew stressing more not hearing any response on what they think of her leaving like this.
She caught her fall with an air swirl softening when she did land on the sand, a huff leaving her mouth as she sat on the ground legs crossed, and raised a clenched fist into the air back at the crew, "Make sure you deliver Vivi back to her home! Make sure, now!"
Her determined toothy grin set all their hearts a blaze. Zoro's look back was a nervously sweating one, teeth showing also that were gritted, while Sanji's was the same but his eyes were more wide under the glasses, not knowing if they were capable to leave the woman they adored behind so easily all by herself.
She could see all the crews unsure expressions hearing her words, and softened her smile into a warmer one giggling, "Make sure, guys." She called out, eyes finding Luffy's on the crab making her send him a reassure nod, "It's okay, trust me on this."
He bit on his bottom lip feeling conflicted not wanting to leave his younger sister alone, but also knew she could handle on her own. So with a heavy sigh, and a confident look shared with Happy, he turned back to the crew, "You heard her, let's go guys!"
Chopper's eyes shinned with tears a bit not also wanting to leave the girl who saved him, and welcomed him to the crew, but seeing Happy send him a nod he faced the ropes again knowing he has to be brave, "G-got it." He moves the ropes in his hoofs yelling, "We're off!"
(Y/N)'s smile didn't vanish from her face watching the crab and her crew run off now into the desert more, her eyes staying connected with Zoro and Sanji's ones until she couldn't see them anymore, and become serious sensing who was already behind her waiting.
Though her head perked up from looking down at her boots stuck in the sand hearing Vivi's shout, "(Y/N)!" It echoed throughout the desert catching the girls attention, and just stopped Vivi's figure waving to her, "We'll be waiting for you in Alubarna, okay?!"
Her lips perked up into a bright smile again, and thrusted her fists up into the air above her straw hat covered head, "Of course! I'll see you all there!" She cheered back in excitement, reassuring the crew a little bit.
The wind picked up around the Monkey D. girl making her gain goosebumps all over her arms, and figure to become tense hearing voices behind her. She turned her head hiding her eyes under the hat's brim, and spotted Crocodile and All Miss-Sunday standing there, the sun making their shadows stand out more behind them.
She hummed taking off the hoodie around her head to place back on the straw hat, and made her criss cross cloth strips hang off more to the side, "As long as you're around," She began to talk as she stood up with a grunt, and flashed Crocodile a smirk, "Vivi's going to go at you, until she dies. So I'm going to put you down right here."
He just smugly chucked at her yelling remark, shoulders moving from how drawled out it was as he had a blunt in his mouth, "That's worse than nonsense." He spoke opening his eyes up to look at her figure before him, "You're the unsalvageable fool here. This is a good example. You get to close to someone, and then die because of it. I've forsaken tons of people like that."
She was brushing herself off from the sand all over her body, and clothes before smacking her palm together to get ride of the left overs, "Then, you're the fool, aren't you?" She challenged in a mocking way, smirking some more at him.
His eye twitched in growing rage at her arrogance, gritting his teeth so hard that he ended up biting the end of the blunt off in between his lips, which had Miss All-Sunday laughing quietly beside him.
"What's so funny?" He growled lowly glancing at the girl out of the corner of his eye, putting out the blunt on the sand below him, "You want to die, too, Nico Robin?"
She pulled her hand down from her mouth at this, laughing stopping as she stared at the ground, "If you feel like it, go right ahead." She voiced monotone, walking off away from the two now, "Besides, didn't you promise not to call me by that name?"
He scoffed under his breath watching her leave, and digs around in his fluffy coat for something. Once he had it, he throw something down beside (Y/N) into the sand, which was a hourglass timer that had sand in it dripping down.
"I'll give you three minutes." He tells her in his deep voice causing her sharp gaze to flicker to the timer, and then back to his cold expression, "I don't have time to mess with you any longer than that."
No one made a move after his declaration, a stand up off happening between them as the wind blew past them causing their clothes and hair to blow around with it. That was when (Y/N) broke it with a laugh, and rubbed under her nose.
"That's fine then." She agreed in a confident tone despite how nervous she was about fighting alone, but rather this then bring her brother, her two boys, and everyone else into the fight.
He raised an eyebrow watching her arms move together towards her right side of her hip, and sent a massive gust of air out of her fists, that was in a form of a fist. He smirked dodging the hit which grazes along his head, which made sand only appear not any real damage.
She cursed to herself remembering no physical hits would harm him, as his face reforms into his normal state again, her being distracted by the way the sand was moving around him.
Crocodile's hook reformed also on his fists, which had her eyes going wide in panic when he appeared right in front of her. She yelped bending herself backwards to avoid his fist with the hook, and felt the gust of air from the force of it on her neck.
"Cheap move, Croco!" She hollered standing on her palms in a handstand on the ground, before twisting herself to stand another blast of air, this time it being a slice that came from her spinning legs.
It went straight through his stomach once more making him turn into sand, his entire upper half disappearing into nothing but the sand, as she spined herself up from the handstand on the ground, skidding back away from him to think for a few seconds.
In the process of this she lost her straw hat on the sand a few feet away, along with the water barrel that Toto gave her, and her blue coat to protect her bare skin from the sun, leaving her in her white robes only.
"I should warn you, Fox Girl (Y/N), that no matter how hard you try," His voice was back to talking, as his body began to turn back into his normal form instead of sand in the air, "there is no way that you'll ever beat me."
She narrowed her sharped gaze down on him breathing heavily, fingers flexing by her side to calm herself down for a second. She didn't know how to stop him yet with her powers, but she could surely slow him down somehow, even if it meant draining her strength.
Her irises flash with a orange hue for a few seconds spiking his curiously, as her palms come together in the middle, circling around each other slowly. Her brows furrow in heavy concentration, trying to form a fire flame in between them.
And once it began to appear in her palms, her left hand fingertips touch it to bring the flame back into a fire arrow that she held in between them, and the end of the bow she held in between two of her fingers. The flame was burning around her, but she didn't seem to feel it, as it illuminated her features and icy glare.
His eyes widened a bit seeing this technique she just did, another wicked smirk crossing his mouth as she legs loose many flame arrows into his stomach. They all landed into him like usually, only leaving the hits to produce sand, but it did shock him when he felt the heat of the flames burning his clothes.
Because of how his nerves were a bit on edge at that, he fell back a few steps away from her panting figure hunched over a bit, and hummed lowly looking over her seeing how she was struggling from using her abilities.
"Good move, I'll give you that." He surprisingly praised causing her brows to furrow confused, and listened closely to his speech, "Listen here, Fox Girl, you can continue these attacks of yours forever, but you will never-"
She didn't give him time to finish as she was charging forward, her fist covered in a orange flame of fire as she goes to jump down a bit just before him, and yells sending her fist right up under his chin. And quite hard also.
It left his body falling back off balance in the air for a few seconds, making her pull a double attack by sending another powerful gust of air that punched right through his stomach, his entire body evaporating into nothing but sand.
When the dust and sand disappeared from around her she scrunched her fists up by her side, and stomped her boot onto the ground huffing annoyed, "Why, you.. you..." She kicked up some of the dust, a scowl covering her brows, "Serves you right, you sand gator!"
A sudden noise of something shuffling behind her had her blood running cold, and face paling. A familiar male's voice followed next chuckling amused, "I told you, that won't work kid."
She gritted her teeth together feeling her patience running low, the palms of her hands heating up a bit unknown to her as she turns around to face Crocodile, meeting his gaze with a glare.
"No matter how hard a girl with abilities like yourself might try, there is no way-" He paused mid talk when she went to charge forward with another fist covered in flames, and deadpanned when she punched him across the face getting the same result, "....you'll never peat-"
She bounced back a few steps away from him, skidding to a stop with her boots digging in the sand and snorted a bit hearing his words, raising her fists into a fighting stance, "'Peat'?" What was that you were just trying to say?"
This seemed to tick Crocodlie right off now, his rage bottling over the line of holding it in. His veins on his forehead appeared from how angry he was, teeth bared as his twitching eyes glance to the hourglass, seeing how the time was almost out.
"I think that is just about enough fun and games." He speaks in a low, dangerous tone lifting up his hook to point it at the girl, a sadistic smile covering his lips, "Fox Girl (Y/N)."
She scoffed rolling her eyes, brushing back some of the hair off her sweaty forehead, and scowled a bit offended at him, "What?! I've been taking this seriously the whole time!" She retorted then grumbled to herself, "But he's got me. I can't slug him at all like this. If only I could master my abilities, then maybe..."
"There's a difference in the level of pirate that you and I are." He pointed out aiming his arm behind him for an attack, sand appearing around his hand that covered it, before snapping his arm down towards her yelling, "Desert Spada!"
Something was coming at her fast from within the sand making her eyes go wide in alarm, and quickly acted to try and divert the attack. Her palms come out in front of her chest creating a air shield around her body, gritting her teeth when the sand attack smashed into it, and tried to hold her own against the force behind it, limbs trembling.
Her eyes were flashing from orange to their normal colour as she puts more energy into the airbending, feet getting pushed back a bit from her spot, which made her panic and roll out of the way. She let the bending go knowing she'd drain herself before even finishing him, and came to a stop landed on her knees breathing heavily.
"Nicely judged." He mused in a slightly impressed tone, his hand still being in the form of a sand shape as he looks at her crouched on the ground, "If you'd taken that, it would have gotten more than an 'ow' from you."
Her stomach dropped a bit in alarm when she saw that the sand had a massive hole in it from his attack, and gulped down the lump in her throat, "No way! The desert's been split-"
"Depending on one's training and how they're used, Devil Fruit abilities can become a means of fighting as powerful as any." He began to explain with a stoic expression over his face, going to aim his next attack at something behind her that had the girl quickly standing up on guard, "I'm not like you other fools, who are only preoccupied with your abilities."
Her gaze followed where he was going to send another sand hit, and felt her heart twist inside her chest realising he was aiming for the barrel of water. With a shout she pushed herself towards it by airbending, diving for the water and rolled along the sand once she had it, just feeling the breeze of his attack past her figure.
"You bastard!" She cursed him out holding the barrel in her hands, standing back up to her feet gritting her teeth upset over the fact he would waste such precious water, "The old man in Yuba spent all night preparing this water for me!"
The warmly smiling face of Toto flashes in her mind holding out the barrel for a few seconds, causing her face to soften a bit holding it closer to her chest, "That old guy told me..." She trailed off with a determined smirk, "...Yuba wasn't going to give in to the sand."
A dark look crosses Crocodile's face hearing her words, half of his face being covered by a shadow sending a bad shiver down her spine, "Your three minutes are up." He sneered looking to the hourglasses where no more sand was falling down, "Like I said at the start, I don't have time to hang around with you any longer."
"Sables!" He created a small sandstorm in his palm that got bigger by the second, the end of it touching the sand as it grew more powerful, causing (Y/N) to block her eyes from the sand getting into them trying not to fall over also.
She made sure the barrel strings were around her neck, and squinted her eyes to look at Crocodile a few feet in front of her not even bothered by the wind. Her hair was blowing around, along with her cloth on her body from the strong breeze.
"Listen here, Fox Girl. The prevailing winds here always blow from north to south." He went to explain to her in a way that made her more uneasy, "If this baby sandstorm of mine were to catch one of them and grow as it headed south, where do you think the larger sandstorm will hit?"
She thought for a few seconds thinking where that could be, until another flash of Toto digging appeared in her mind and she knew she had her answer. Her eyes widened in sheer disbelief, the shock registering on her face like a sudden crack of thunder in a clear sky.
And then, like a tempest gathering on the horizon, the shock transformed into a seething rage. The flicker in her eyes changed from astonishment to a simmering intensity, a storm brewing beneath the surface. The lines of her face hardened, and her jaw clenched with a controlled fury.
"Why?!" She bellowed furiously not thinking before she acted, and ran up to him gripping the taller male by his coat to tug him around demanding answers, "What did that old man ever do to you, huh?! Stop this! NOW-"
She cursed herself for being so weak inside her mind as she kept yelling at his smirking self, the girl hating how she had control over her abilities but at the same time, she didn't. Because if she knew how to work them, she most likely could stop that sandstorm, and maybe even stop him where he stood.
"Give up, kid." He rumbled tilting his chin up into the air, a smug look over his face watching her struggle against him and punch his chest that just turned into sand, "There's no stopping the sandstorm now. Yuba is finished."
She sneered up at him through her gritted teeth, her glare growing intenser that made her irises flashing an orange hue once more as she goes to punch him again. However, what happened next wasn't what she expected nor was ready for.
A sudden dull ache settled in the pit of her stomach, a persistent soreness that made every movement a tender reminder of discomfort. Her eyes went wide in fear, vision getting blurry as her grip on him slips, and she slumps forward onto the hook that had stabbed straight through her stomach.
"Who do you think I am?" His low voice was right by her ears that she barely heard, her limp body being held up by the sharp end of his hook in the air, blood dripping down onto the ground, "There are many number of rookies like you, who are nothing but talk, Fox Girl (Y/N), here in the Grand line."
