𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐧: 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐧

𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐀𝐓 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐍 the school bus. he had somehow convinced mr.harrington to let him back on the team, though, it didn't really take that much convincing. obviously, flash wasn't too happy about that. and even if peter wasn't actually gonna be there for the actual decathlon, she was so happy to see flash disappointed. as soon as everyone had gotten on the bus, liz made them answer a bunch of decathlon questions,  everyone getting an answer right except for flash. the sound of someone's phone ringing is what broke steve's attention, turning to look at the the curly haired boy next to her.

"why is happy hogan calling you?" she questioned in a hushed voice, watching as peter looked down at his phone.

"i have no idea." peter whispered before he looked up at liz, standing up from his seat. "can i take this real quick? it'll only be a sec."

"yeah, fine." liz nodded before she looked back down at the index card in her hand.

peter nodded, going to the back of the bus so that he wouldn't distract anyone with the call. ned was at the back, still tracking the bad guys that was at the school, just to make sure that they didn't move or go back out of maryland. stevie watched peter for a few seconds before her eyes landed on mj, who was sitting right behind her, reading a book. stevie smiled slightly before she slipped out of her seat and into the one next to mj. this made the jones girl look up from her book, a smile immediately pulling at her lips.

"stevie." mj greeted, gently placing the book in her hands into her lap.

"hi, michelle." stevie smiled, tilting her head slightly. "you know, almost every time i see you, there's a book in your hands."

"i'd rather get lost in this world than in the real world, you know?" mj shrugged, gesturing to the book in her lap.

"yeah, i get that." stevie nodded, pulling out her phone that had headphones wrapped around it. "i'd rather get lost in a total different world, too. music, books, anything, really. do you have any book recommendations? i need some new books."

"oh, you - you can take this. i've read it a bunch of times already." mj told her, holding the book out for stevie to take. "it's called of human bondage. it's about an orphan boy that that get's sent to live with his aunt and uncle. really, really good read."

"oh, you don't have to give me yours. i could -" stevie started, shaking her head at mj's offering.

"no, it's okay, stevie." mj reassured, a smile on her lips.

steve took the book reluctantly, a shy smile on her lips. "i will start reading this as soon as i get a chance." she told mj, flipping through the pages. it was a lengthy book, but she didn't mind it.

"i have a question." mj admitted, turning in the seat to face stevie completely. the carpenter girl hummed as she continued to look down at the book, letting mj know that she was listening. "you're name is stephanie, right? why not go by steph?"

stevie looked up from the book, "i don't know. i think donnie started calling me that as a way to be different, and it just stuck."

"oh, okay." mj nodded. "well. . . what if i wanted to call you steph. . . to be different? would - does that bother you?"

stevie looked at mj with raised eyebrows, feeling her cheeks heat up for whatever reason. "uh, no. that doesn't bother me. you can call me steph, i don't mind. but only if i get to call you a nickname."

mj smiled, "of course. it's only fair, right?"

"right." stevie nodded, mirroring the jones' girl smile. "what do you let your friends call you?"

"uh, mj."

"michelle jones." stevie elaborated, earning a nod from the taller girl. "well, your name is michelle, so how about. . . ellie? i'm also okay with just calling you by michelle, since no one calls you that, really. "

"i am okay with either." mj laughed, making stevie smile. she was glad that she was one of the small amount of people that could put a smile on mj's face.

"okay, cool." the shorter girl nodded, looking back down at the book in her lap. "you are gonna be the only person in the world that is gonna be able to call me steph."

"and you are gonna be the only person in the world to call me ellie." mj said, lookin at the side of stevie's face. the two girls continued to talk to one another, grinning from ear to ear as they did so. their laughter filled the bus every few seconds, grabbing the attention of everyone.

ned looked away from peter's web shooter, which was showing him where the two bad guys from there school were. he looked over to where the laughter was coming from, seeing that it was michelle jones and stevie. he smiled proudly at the carpenter girl, knowing that she had feelings for mj. "hey, peter. look at stevie talking to her crush."

peter looked away from the window, looking over at the two girls. he smiled too, pulling his phone out to take a pic of the both of them so that he could send it to donnie. "wow. she's finally making a move." he mumbled as he took the picture. "i'm proud of her."

"yeah, now all we have to do is get you to make a move on don." ned mumbled, looking back down to the tracker.

peter sent the picture to donnie before he looked up at ned, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "what? i don't have feelings for donnie."

"really?" ned asked, looking at his best friend. peter simply nodded, eyebrows still furrowed. "could've fooled me." ned mumbled, looking back down at the tracker.

peter looked down at his phone when he felt it vibrate, only seeing a bunch of capital letters from donnie. a small smile appeared on his lips knowing that donnie was excited. this then made his head shoot up, eyes wide as he processed what he had just did. why did the thought of donnie being happy making him happy? i mean, he was his friend. but just the thought of donnie having a smile on his face made a warm feeling appear inside of him. oh, god. oh, god. oh, god. did he have feelings for donnie? but he had feelings for liz???? at least he thought he did. what the hell? he had feelings for donatello watson.

"oh, god." he mumbled.

𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐑'𝐒 𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐌, laying down on peter's bed as she read the book mj had given her. donnie was on facetime on her phone, it being propped up on a pillow so that he could see her. peter and ned were on ned's bed, the latter having his laptop in his lap as he hacked into peter's suit while the former was carefully taking the tracking chip out of his suit. donnie had brought up how stevie was talking to mj on the bus, which made her confused since she didn't tell him about that. but then the watson boy said that peter had sent him a picture of the two, which quickly led to stevie hitting peter.

"peter, why are we removing the tracker from your suit?" ned questioned, asking what both stevie and donnie were thinking. this made stevie put mj's book down, turning to look at the parker boy.

"uh, because i gotta follow these guys to their boss before they move again and i don't really want mr.stark to know about it." peter answered.

"so you're lying to iron man now?" ned asked.

"no, i'm not lying. he just doesn't really get what i can do yet." peter responded sheepishly.

"so to show him what you can do, you. . . hack into the amazing suit that he made you - for free by the way, and take the tracker from it as well?" stevie challenged, tilting her head as she looked at the curly haired boy. she then looked at donnie, who was still on the phone. "can't you just. . . record yourself taking out a bad guy or something?"

"i agree with stevie." donnie admitted.

"you always agree with stevie." peter pointed out as he reached over to the lamp that was on the nightstand, placing the tracker on the lamp shade. "all right, happy, enjoy tracking this lamp."

"i always agree with stevie because stevie is always right." donnie reasoned, which earned him a smile from his best friend.

"there's a ton of other subsystems in here." ned started, looking at the screen of his laptop closely. peter looked at him as he hummed. "but they're all disabled by the training wheels protocol." ned finished, a smile on his face.

"what?" peter asked, moving so that he could look at the screen. stevie let out a cackle as she grabbed her phone, quickly moving over to the other side of ned so that she could look at the screen.

"damn, that's a lot of subsystems." she mumbled, seeing the long list.

"turn it off." peter told ned.

"i don't think that's a good idea. i mean, they're probably blocked for a reason." ned reasoned , earning nods from stevie and donnie.

"oh, come on, man. i don't need training wheels." peter whined as he got up from the bed. he then jumped up onto his own bed, bouncing a little. "i'm sick of him treating me like a kid all the time. it's not cool."

"but you are a kid." ned, stevie, and donnie all said in unison.

"yeah, a kid who can stop a bus with his bare hands." peter reasoned.

"petey, you do realize that you literally sound like a five-year old right now, right?" stevie pointed out, her eyebrows raised as she looked at the curly haired boy.

"i do not!" peter whined, stevie rolling her eyes at him.

"peter, i just don't think this is a good idea." ned confessed.

"neither do i!" donnie's voice rang, making stevie look down at him. the long haired boy was currently looking at his homework, his light brown strands being pulled into a ponytail.

"see?" ned said, looking down at stevie's phone before he looked back at peter. "i mean, what if this is illegal?"

peter stepped down from his bed and threw himself onto ned's. "look, please. this is my chance to prove myself. i can handle it. ned, come on."

"i really don't think this is a good idea." ned shook his head.

"the guy in the chair." peter whispered.

"don't do that."

"come on."

ned looked over at stevie with raised eyebrows, silently asking her what he should do. she shrugged, "you're the one that has the computer." she said.

with that, ned tapped some keys before the sound of something whirring appeared in the room. the trio looked over to peter's suit, seeing a blue light run down it twice. a huge grin appeared on peter's face as he shot up from his spot. he quickly stripped of his clothes before he slipped the blue and red suit on. he then pulled on some sweats and a zip-up hoodie, zipping it up to cover himself up. he turned around to look at stevie, eyebrows raised.

"what?" she asked, seeing the look on his face.

"suit up." peter answered as if it was obvious.

"i can't suit up." she told him.

"why not?" peter questioned.

"because i didn't pack my suit."

"what do you mean you didn't pack your suit?"

"what do you - i didn't bring my suit. it's still in it's hiding placing, back in my room, in my apartment." stevie further elaborated.

"stevie, i thought we were going to find the bad guys." peter whined, his arms out.

"no, that plan was for you to come to washington with us to get the bad guys. i never said that i was going with you, bud. we literally established through text that you were going by yourself." stevie reminded.

"she's not lying. check the group chat!" donnie's voice appeared.

ned did as told, going to the freaks and geeks group chat before he handed it to peter. "she did say that, dude."

peter groaned as he read the messages from the previous night. he quickly handed the phone back to the leeds boy, a small pout on his face. "fine. whatever."

"oh, don't be such a grumpy pants." stevie told him, getting up from the bed to go over to the parker boy. she then wrapped her arm around his shoulders. "now you better leave before they move again."

"yeah, you're right." peter mumbled, walking over to the door. stevie's arm slipped off his shoulders as he pulled his hood over his head. he opened the door, looking both ways to make sure there was no one out there. he then turned to look at stevie and ned. "the glowy thing, it's evidence. keep it safe, alright?"

"okay. okay." ned nodded, picking up the glowy thing.

peter then checked his web shooter, looking at the tracker. "they're moving."

"be careful." ned and stevie told him in unison just as he closed the door in unison.

"so, you wanna watch a movie?" stevie questioned, turning to look at ned.

"i think that we should get some rest, you know? wanna function properly for the decathlon tomorrow." ned shrugged. "but if i can't sleep, i will make sure to go knock on your door. deal?"

"deal." stevie nodded, walking over to peter's bed so that she could grab mj's book. "text or call if you need anything, ned."

"duh." ned let out as the carpenter girl opened the door. "goodnight, stevie."

"g'night, ned." stevie smiled, closing the door behind her. she then looked down at the phone in her hand, seeing that donnie was still on. "you wanna hang up?"

"sure. call me when you wake up so i can give you one of my famous pep talks." donnie told her, tucking a few stray strands behind his ear.

"of course, don. those pep talks help me live life." stevie laughed, walking towards her room, which was only a few doors down. "i love you."

"i love you, too, stevie. goodnight." donnie told her before he hung up.

daij speaks!
okay so i hate this chapter and i only wrote it so that we could have stevie and mj interacting with one another. still don't have ship name for them. stechelle? i like that. also, ship name for peter and donnie; deter? ponnie? idfk. also, i'm thinking about writing peter as trans because that is one of my many headcanons and i love it. it makes my heart warm in all honesty.

midterms are next week, and idk if i'm ready or not. but i get to go home on the 14th so i honestly just want midterms to come and go so i can see my parents and dog. i've been missing my dog so much, like oh my god. the way i'm gonna hold her when i see her. i've also been missing home cooked meals because this dining hall isn't cutting it. it has two sides with different options, and i've eaten pizza almost every day for a month. i just want something good man. is that too hard to ask???

but i hope u guys enjoyed this ugly chapter 🫶🏼
