she opened her locker, swapping the books that she didn't need for the ones that she did. she had obviously asked her teachers for the homework that wouldn't be assigned until a few weeks later. she only had one more class left of the day, and that one was with donnie. she grabbed all of the textbooks she needed so she wouldn't have to come back to her locker one the school day was over. just as she grabbed the last book she needed, her locker was slammed shut, making the girl smile since she knew who had closed it.

"hey, don." she greeted as she zipped her bag up.

"hey." donnie smiled, leaning on the locker that was next to stevie's. "you saw the text i sent to the group chat?"

"no. what'd you say?" stevie asked, putting her bag in her back.

"check."

with that, stevie pulled out her phone and went to the freaks and geeks group chat. it made her smile slightly when she clicked on it since it's been awhile since she's did so. she scrolled up a little to see the start of the conversation, a smile widening when she saw donnie's contact pop up at the top.

STEPHANOPOLOUSโค๏ธ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ
i'm down too :)

donnie smiled down at her when she slipped her phone back into her jacket pocket. the bell rang above their heads, making the carpenter girl jump at the sudden noise. she groaned once it finished, leaning her head into donnie's chest. he wrapped his arms around the shorter girl, knowing how much the noise affected her heightened senses.

"i hate that stupid bell." she mumbled into his chest.

"i know." donnie chuckled, rubbing her back slightly. "but we should really get to our next class."

"noooooo." stevie whined.

"yep. come on, at least we have this one together." donnie then said, grabbing her arm before he started to drag her through the crowded halls.

the curly haired girl let her best friend drag her through the school, a small smile on her face. she watched the boy closely, taking his features. half of his long locks was tied up into a messy bun while the other half was hanging around his neck. he was wearing a t-shirt with one of his favorite bands on it as well as a some light washed jeans. he had a pair of dirty converse on his feet, the laces basically ripping from how old they were. on his back was a bag that he had since middle school, pins and doodles in sharpie covering most of it. she wondered how the bag was still functioning after all these years.

"don, can you slow down?" stevie mumbled, starting to trip over her feet.

"i'm sorry, aren't you the one with super speed?" donnie questioned, coming to a stop.

stevie bumped into him, not expecting the taller boy to just come to a sudden halt. "it's not super speed, i'm just a little faster than a regular human -"

"super speed." donnie nodded.

"- and that doesn't mean that i use it 24/7." stevie finished.

"yeah, whatever." donnie said, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "but we have to be to class in, like, five minutes and it's on the other side of the building. so. . . we have to basically run for our lives."

the two continued to walk down the halls, that were getting less and less crowded as the students entered their last period classes. as the duo walked down the hall, the dial that controlled stevie's senses turn up to 20 as the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. she furrowed her eyebrows as her heart dropped, thinking that something bad was about to happen. she slowed down as she looked around the hall, trying to see who or what was making her senses spike in that moment. donnie noticed the way that her demeanor changed, slowing down as well as he watched her look around the hall.

the carpenter girl continued to look through the hall she did a double take when she saw peter walk out one of the classrooms. and then suddenly, it was like a big arrow appeared in the air, pointing right at him. in the arrow was was big words saying,

HE'S LIKE YOU. PETER'S LIKE YOU! HE'S SPIDER-MAN! HE'S LIKE YOU! HE'S LIKE YOU! HE'S LIKE YOU! PETER'S LIKE YOU!

the words echoed in her head as the parker boy got closer and closer to the duo. the boy's head then snapped up and his eyes immediately met stevie's, his eyebrows knitted together as he walked past them. donnie waved to peter, the shorter boy waving back as he forced a smile to appear on his lips. he was still staring at stevie, the girl staring back as he walked past them. by the look on his face, stevie could tell that he was just as confused as she was.

stevie was pulled out of her trance when she felt donnie start to drag her down the hall again. she turned to look at him before she turned back to look at peter, the boy no longer being in the hall. she would definitely have to see if he was actually spider-man or if her tingly feeling. . . thing was off. she flinched when the sound of the bell ringing filled her ears.

"fuck! we're late!" donnie exclaimed, speeding up as he grabbed stevie's arm.

stevie rolled her eyes as the watson boy started to run down the hall, her arm still in his hand. she started running beside him before her speed picked up, dragging him down the hall now. donnie nearly trip at the sudden switch but quickly caught himself, trying his best to keep up with his best friend.

"not super speed my ass." he mumbled.

๐Ž๐๐‚๐„ ๐ƒ๐Ž๐๐๐ˆ๐„ ๐€๐๐ƒ ๐’๐“๐„๐•๐ˆ๐„ ๐‡๐€๐ƒ gotten to her apartment, the carpenter girl quickly changed into her suit and hopped out the window. before she left she had told donnie that she heard some trouble a few blocks away, when in reality. . . she was trying to run into spider-man so that she could see if it was actually peter. she swung around the borough of queens for a few minutes before she landed on the roof of an apartment building. she looked around for a few minutes, hoping to spot the vigilante that was cladded in red and blue.

she felt a prick on the side of her head, ON YOUR LEFT!

stevie turned to her left, her eyes landing on spider-man. she stood up from her crouched position, getting the same feeling that she had gotten earlier. she slowly walked over to him, seeing his the lenses on his mask narrow into a squint as he tilted his head.

"are you who i think you are?" spider-man, peter, questioned.

stevie couldn't help but feel dumb in that moment, clearly hearing that peter parker's voice was speaking to her. her mind then started to put all of the pieces together; the stark internship, the way peter disappeared the same weekend spider-man did. everything made so much sense.

"are you who i think you are?" she repeated.

"probably." peter nodded his head. "how about. . . we take our masks off on the count of three?"

"okay." stevie nodded.

"one. . ." peter started, bringing his hand up to grab his mask.

"two. . ." stevie continued, following the boy's actions.

"three!" the two spiderlings yelled in unison before they pulled their masks off.

stevie smiled when she saw peter's disheveled curls. it was actually him. spider-man is peter parker.

"oh! i knew it! i fricking knew it!" peter laughed as he jumped up and down.

"i should've known it was you! you sounded so familiar the other day!" stevie then said.

"so did you! and it makes sense! you've basically been m.i.a. all month!" peter exclaimed, running his hand through his curls to try and calm them.

"i was trying to get my suit together, dude! it was harder than i thought it was gonna be." stevie quickly defended.

"wha - you made your suit by yourself?" peter questioned, to which stevie nodded. "no way! it looks so good, stevie!"

"not as good as yours." the curly haired girl shot back.

"tony stark made it." peter smiled, looking down at the suit he was wearing.

"no way, really?" stevie asked. "d - does anyone know that you're spider-man?"

"no." peter shook his head. "what about you?"

"only don." stevie answered.

"you told him?!" peter exclaimed.

"not at all. he found out i had powers the same time i did." stevie explained.

"how does that work?" peter asked, tilting his head as his eyebrows furrowed.

"it's a long story."

the two vigilantes continued to ask each other questions, the both of them basically fangirling/boying over one another. they then went onto telling each other how they had gotten their abilities in the first place, shocked when they found out that it was very similar to the other. then they realized that they had plans with their friends, making the both of them panic before they slipped their masks back on started swinging to the building they lived in. stevie slipped through her bedroom window while peter landed on the roof of the building.

the carpenter girl realized that donnie wasn't there, assuming that he had gone upstairs to wait with ned. she quickly slipped her suit off before she placed it in it's hiding spot so that her mother wouldn't find it. she then threw her clothes from earlier on, hopping around the room in a hurry before she fell down. she shot up from the floor before she slipped her feet into her sneakers. she then ran out her room - not forgetting her keys - and then out the apartment, quickly locking the door. she then went to the staircase and walked a flight up to peter's floor. she walked down the hall to the parker residence, ringing the doorbell.

the door flew open, revealing may parker there. stevie smiled at the older woman.

"oh. hi, sweetie." may greeted, mirroring stevie's smile. "long time no see."

"i know. . . life got busy for awhile. but everything's back to normal. . . for the most part." stevie explained.

"well, it's nice to see you again. the boys are in peter's room." may informed, stepping back so that the girl could enter the apartment.

"thank you, may." stevie said before she walked inside.

she quickly backtracked, pulling may into a hug. she really missed the woman who she considered a second mother. the parker woman released a chuckle as she wrapped her arms around stevie, giving her a tight squeeze before she pulled back and ruffled her hair. with that, stevie went into peter's room, seeing her boys sitting on the floor with lego pieces scattered around them.

"wha - you guys started without me?" she questioned, pretending to be offended as she took her spot between donnie and ned.

"we were too excited." ned reasoned, a small smile appearing on his lips. "what took you so long anyway?"

"uh. . . my mother called and needed me to do something so she wouldn't have to when she got home." stevie lied, her eyes flicking over to where peter was sat across from her.

a small smile appeared on the parker boy's face as he looked down, putting a piece with a piece. donnie also knew she was lying since she had told him that she was going to stop someone from being hurt. he just didn't know that she was lying about that as well.

"well, let this lego building session. . ." ned started, holding up one of the figurines. "commence!"

the other three teens quickly cheered before they started to follow the instructions that were in the booklet. they all chatted amongst one another, catching up on the things that they had missed out on. that was how the rest of their night was spent before the four of them knocked out on the floor.

daij speaks!
i kinda hate this chapter but then again i love it. anyways, i hope u guys enjoyed it. i just really wanted them to figure out that they were the vigilantes. and i think that next chapter is when we're gonna actually get into homecoming.
