๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, and stevie would rather be anywhere but school. she had the weekend to heal up, most of her cuts and scars being completely gone. but there was some damage still left on her body, including her leg. when she had gotten home that night, she was instantly pulled into a hug by her mother, who had seen all of the girl's injuries. that then led to stevie getting lectured by erin while the carpenter woman cleaned and covered her wounds. she then let stevie explained what had happened, which only earned her another lecture from erin.
the injured girl was limping towards her locker, a small scowl taking up her features. people had been asking what had happened, and she'd just say that she fell down the stairs or did a horrible job at doing a trick on a skateboard. the only people that had actually known what had happened was donnie and ned, all of them texting in the freaks and geeks group chat as soon as they got a chance. also, stevie's phone screen was basically shattered, but she was still using. she walked up to her locker, putting her combination in before she pulled it open.
"hey." a familiar voice greeted, making stevie turn to see donnie standing there.
"hey." she repeated, turning around so that she could focus on what books she needed to grab.
donnie didn't say anything for a few seconds, examining his best friend's face. he could see where cuts used to be, glad that they had healed up. "how's your leg?"
"it's better. still hurts like a bitch though." stevie mumbled, stuffing her books into her book bag.
donnie chuckled, tucking a few of stray strands behind his ear. his eyes then went over to peter parker, who was down the hall at his own locker. peter looked back, the both of them smiling at one another. donnie felt his cheeks heat up, his mind flashing back to the day before. peter admitted to liking him, and they went to homecoming together. and even though their homecoming was cut short, he was still able to go with the boy he's had feelings for since middle school.
"you're drooling." stevie told him, snapping the boy out of his trance.
"not i'm not." he muttered, taking his eyes off of peter.
"you had literal hearts in your eyes, don." stevie laughed, causing the taller boy to roll his eyes.
"shut up." the watson boy blushed, looking down at his doc martens. stevie couldn't help but laugh again, gently closing her locker shut. "so have you spoken to liz since friday?"
"no." stevie sighed, looking down the hall towards her right to see liz walking with her mother, a box in her hands. "i get that the guy was one of the bad ones, but he's still her father. i just. . . i feel bad."
"well, i feel like you at least need to say bye before she leaves. if you don't, the guilt might eat you alive." donnie said in mocking tone, which earned him a nudge in the stomach from his best friend. he only chuckled. "i'm serious, stevie. go talk to her."
"but i don't wanna." the carpenter girl whined.
donnie rolled her eyes, stepping around stevie before he pushed her down the hall. stevie quickly pushed his hands away from her before she started to limp to where liz was. she wiped her hands against her sweats as she walked towards the taller girl, noticing the fact that she was crying.
"hi, liz." stevie greeted, making the girl in question turn to look at her.
"hey, stevie." liz smiled, snuggling as she rid her face of tears.
"i - i'm sorry about your dad. . ." stevie stuttered, looking down at the floor with guilty eyes.
"we're moving to oregon." liz suddenly informs, which makes stevie look up at her. "dad doesn't want us here for the trial."
stevie suddenly felt a rock form in her throat, guilt piling up inside her. she knew that her and peter had done the right thing. but by doing the right thing, they had uprooted an innocent girl and her mother from their lives. stevie looked over her shoulder, seeing that peter and donnie were standing in front of her locker, patiently waiting for her to return.
"since i'm not gonna be here next year. . . do you have any recommendations on who should be team captain?" liz questioned, bringing a hand up to wipe her face.
"um. . ." stevie started, starting to think about the options. she definitely didn't want flash to be the team captain, knowing that he would make everything about him. abe was a smart guy, and had the best comedic timing. cindy would be a perfect candidate too. but she couldn't help but think about a certain curly haired girl. "michelle jones."
liz smiled slightly at that, "you're only saying that because you have feelings for her.:
"maybe i am. but i still think that she'd be a perfect captain." stevie shrugged, biting back the smile that was trying to pull at her lips.
"okay, i'll tell mr.harrington." liz nodded, stepping towards stevie slightly. she then pulled the shorter girl in for a hug, taking her by surprise. stevie slowly wrapped her arms around liz's waist. "take care, stevie. and make sure you take care of those boys of yours."
"yeah, i will." stevie mumbled. "take care of yourself, liz."
"elizabeth." a voice called, making the two girls pull apart. stevie turned to faze the older woman, a small but sympathetic smile appearing on her lips. "we have to go."
"yeah." liz nodded, pulling away from stevie completely. "see you around."
stevie didn't say anything, only nodding her head as she watched liz and her mother walk away. stevie let out a sigh, feeling her stomach churn. she stuffed her hands into her pockets, turning around so that she could walk back towards peter and donnie. her eyebrows raised when she saw the way they were interacting with one another, seeing the slightly tension between the two. also, the both of them were blushing like crazy, meaning that there must be some sort of flirting going on. so instead of interrupting them, she turned around and made her way towards her first period class.

๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ sat in the library, all of them gathered around a table as they waited for mr.harrington to join them. stevie was sat across from mj, the both of them looking at each other every chance they get. the two hadn't really spoken in person since homecoming, but that didn't stop them from texting one another. peter was sat to the left of her, ned being sat across from him, the two of them talking about whatever came to mind. donnie was somewhere in the library, waiting for his friends to be done with their decathlon meeting so that they could go get food.
stevie looked down at her phone when she felt it vibrate on the table next to her, seeing that it was a text from mj. she looked over towards the taller girl, who was already looking at her. mj looked down at stevie's phone before she looked back at the carpenter girl, silently telling her to look at the text. stevie did as told, grabbing her phone and opening it up to read the text.

i saw that you were limping when you came in.
everything okay?

yeah, i just busted my ass yesterday in my
apartment. slipped on some water
stevie frowned slightly at that, hate the fact that she was lying to the girl that she had so many feelings for. but she knew that she couldn't tell her. . . at least not yet. she waited for a response back from mj, seeing the bubbles appear. but then they disappeared, making stevie furrow her eyebrows. she looked up, seeing that mj was looking at her with a small but worried smile.
"why does it suddenly see like you're always hurting yourself?" mj questioned.
"guess peter's clumsiness finally rubbed off on me." stevie answered, gaining the attention of the boy.
"hey!" peter complained, looking at stevie with furrowed eyebrows.
"guess i'll have to keep an eye on you." mj said, raising her eyebrows in a suggestive manner.
stevie felt her cheeks heat up but mirrored mj's smile nonetheless. "guess you will."
"you know, i think we need a redo." mj then said.
"for what?" stevie asked, tilting her head.
"homecoming." mj replied. "it was a good date at first, but then someone had to drag you away."
"sorry." peter apologized sheepishly, making the two girls turn to look at him.
stevie laughed at her friend, shaking head. but then she realized something. "wait, you considered that our first date?"
"i did." mj nodded. "unless you didn't."
"no, no, no." stevie shook her head. her eyebrows then raised when she realized what she had said. "wait, i mean, yes! i just - i didn't think you would be - because i had to leave."
"well, you can make it up to me." mj told her.
"i will." stevie smiled, nodding her head.
"congratulations, decathlon national champions." mr.harrington's voice appeared, gaining everyone's attention. they all turned to see him walk to the head of the table, their nationals trophy in his hands. they all clapped while he sat down, smiles on their faces. "i'll have to put this back in the trophy case soon but just for motivation right now at this practice. i'm a little ahead of the game, but we will need a new team captain next year. so i am appointing michelle."
this made stevie perk up, glad that liz had actually taken her suggestion and told the high school teacher. she turned to look at mj, a smile on her lips as she clapped for the jones girl. everyone joined in on her, all of them looking at her with smiles.
"uh, thank you. my - my friends call me mj." the curly haired girl nodded, looking at stevie with a look that said except for you.
"i thought you didn't have any friends." ned reminded, eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"i didn't." mj mumbled, making stevie's smile widen at that.
"i gotta go." peter suddenly announced, making stevie look at him. she watched as he started to slide out of his seat. peter sent her a knowing looking, silently telling her that it was something important.
"where are you going?" mj suddenly questioned, making the parker boy freeze. he pointed towards the door, not exactly sure what to say. "what are you hiding, peter?" she then asked, leaving peter scared. the vigilante looked over at stevie, silently asking for her. "i'm just kidding. i don't care. bye." mj then said, a chuckle leaving her lips.
peter slowly turned to look at stevie again, standing from his seat as he grabbed his bag. with that, stevie pulled out her notebook, opening it up to an empty page so that she could take notes on whatever they were gonna practice. what she didn't notice was the way that mj was looking at her and peter, almost like she knew something.

๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, having walked home with peter. she was bopping her head to the music that was playing in her ear. she closed the door behind her, kicking off her shoes as she did so. she was glad to be home, her body being achy. all she wanted to do was take a shower and go to sleep. she pulled her headphones out, looking over to where her mom was sitting on the couch.
"hey, ma." she greeted, placing her bag on the floor.
"hey, sweetie." erin smiled, an excited expression on her face.
stevie noticed this, her eyebrows furrowing slightly. she limped towards her mother, stopping once she was about a foot away. "why're are you looking at me like that?"
erin shrugged, looking away from her daughter. "no reason. i'm just glad that you're doing better."
"right." stevie nodded, not believing a word that her mother was saying. "i'm gonna go into my room and get ready for a shower because i feel like i'm dying."
erin quietly laughed to herself, "okay."
"you're acting weird." stevie mumbled as she turned around to walk towards her room.
"no, i'm not." erin quickly defended.
stevie shook her head, a small smile on her face. she opened the door to her room, pausing when she had seen tony stark sitting in her desk chair, his eyebrows raising as a smile pulled at her lips. she stayed frozen in her spot, not exactly sure what she should do. her last encounter with the avenger was after her and peter had almost sunk the ferry.
"you know, this is a lot easier since your mother knows about it. the boy on the other hand, having to lie to his aunt about some scholarship is a real workout." tony started, examining stevie closely. he had known about what her and peter had done on friday night, but it seemed like they had nearly healed completely. "i know that i'm amazing, but you need to close your mouth, stevie."
"yeah, sorry." the carpenter girl quickly apologized, shaking her head slightly. she closed the door behind her before she started to limp towards her bed. "uh, not that i don't mind, cause i. . . i really don't, but w - why are you here, sir?"
"here to drop a few things off for you. and just to talk to you in general." tony answered, turning the chair around so that he could be facing the teenager. "peter told me that you broke your leg. it doesn't look like that now."
"yeah, uh, i have enhanced healing abilities. still hurts a bunch, but my bones are completely together." stevie explained, plopping down onto her bed. "so, what did you need to drop off?"
tony pointed over to the boxes that he had brought from the avengers compound upstate, having stacked them on top of each other. "this is all of your dad's research on that itsy bitsy spider that bit you. that and everything else that he worked on. i know that you have easy access to it, but i think that this is better. and there's a lot of things that shield didn't know he was working on. but before he died. . . he, um, he asked me to take them and give them to you when i thought you were ready."
stevie didn't say anything at first, looking at the boxes with raised eyebrows. she hadn't really had anything that involved her dad since he had passed, and now. . . she had at least four boxes full of his findings, his hard work. . . him. she felt her chest ache at that, a small smile appearing on her lips.
"you okay, kiddo?" tony questioned, seeing that her eyes were starting to water.
"yeah." stevie nodded quickly, sniffling as she brought her hands up to her eyes. "yeah, i'm okay. it's just been awhile since i've had anything that belonged to my dad. it's kinda weird."
tony nodded understandingly, "look, your dad and i were great friends. we went to mti together, and he helped me out at shield. if you have any questions or anything. . . you can call me in a heartbeat. i'll answer, okay?"
"thanks, mr.stark." stevie laughed.
tony nodded, sending her a kind smile. "okay, now time for something more happy." he reached over to the table, grabbing the paper bag that he had placed there. "i made you a little something. your father created his own design and i kinda modified it."
stevie's eyebrows raised at that, the gears in her head slowly turning as she grabbed the paper bag. "wait, d - did you make me a suit?"
"it's only fair, right? i mean, i did make your friend one." tony shrugged, slowly turning around in the chair so that he could examine stevie's room. "this is a pretty nice room you got here."
"thanks." stevie mumbled, looking down at the brown bag in her hands. "if we could justย come back to the suit. . . why make me this?"
"because every hero needs a suit to match their personality. and stevie, the suit you made is a great first model, but you deserve better than that." tony answered, his eyes stopping on a picture of stevie, erin, and nathan carpenter that was on stevie's nightstand. he smiled slightly at that.
"you - you didn't have to do this, mr.stark." stevie told him, looking up at the man.
"of course i did. i've been taking care of you from afar. i think it's time for me to start doing it up close." tony said, standing up from stevie's desk chair. it's only then that stevie realizes that he's wearing an ac/dc t-shirt underneath the black blazer he was wearing. "and you're probably confused about what i mean by that, but i don't exactly have the time to explain. i kinda walked out of a press conference so that i could beat you here. my number's in the bag. make sure you use it, okay?"
"okay." stevie nodded, watching as tony walked towards her door. "uh, th - thank you, sir."
tony turned to look at her, a smile pulling at his lips. "anytime, kiddo. and make sure you take care of the kid for me, okay?"
"yeah, obviously." stevie laughed, knowing that he was talking about peter.
tony sent her one last nod before he slipped out of the room. stevie's eyes went back down to the paper bag that was in her hands, not sure if she wanted to open it or not. she was 100% fine with her old suit, but tony was right. it was time for a new one. but she wasn't sure if she wanted to accept such an expensive gift. then, the sound of sirens filled her ears, making her turn towards her window. immediately, all her plans of showering and going to sleep went out the window, knowing that she needed to suit up. so, she stood up from her bed, opening the paper bag up to reveal the new suit inside.
"holy shit." she breathed out.
maybe she could accept such an expensive gift.
daij speaks!
heyyyyyy!!! we're done with homecoming, finally!!! i've been working all week, which is why this wasn't up sooner. but here it is, ready to read for u guys. this also means that i get to start writing out infinity war, which i'm excited about.
now, i'm sorry for u guys, but stechelle isn't gonna happen until far from home. i know, it sucks, but i wanna switch out and include some scenes. plus, i want to write mj telling peter, or in this case stevie, that she's remnant out in europe. and if i was to make stevie and mj start dating between homecoming and infinity war (two year difference), i feel like i wouldn't be able to write that scene because stevie would immediately tell mj who she is.
but i hope u guys enjoyed๐ซถ๐ผ
