"No she can't come back here ever again, we can't tolerate the disrespect and violence here in this school." The Principal said
"I'm so sorry for my daughter's actions, she didn't mean to push the girl down the stairs."
"Yes, I did Mom." the look on my mother's face was angry and disappointed.
"Multiple girls had claimed that Kaia has been putting her hands on them for no reason in the past couple of days." she added
"That's not true! They said racist things to me consistently and pulled my hair when I asked them not to, they've been laughing in my face, cracking jokes for a while now. I gave the girl's a chance to apologize and they didn't." I told my mother.
"This school doesn't tolerate racism, so stop lying." the principal said
I ignored the principal and turned to look at my mother "Mom, I wouldn't hit someone for no reason, you know that. That's not me."
My mother stared at me in disbelief, she had nothing to say to me. But I was telling the truth, these group of girls were always bullying someone, but this time they targeted me. I was always so nice to them but they always stared at me with hatred for no reason whatsoever.
"Kaia, I'm very disappointed in you, and I'm sorry Ms. Emily for her behavior, I never thought she would lie about something so serious."
"Mom—
"Go sit in the car."
I stared at the principal and my mother before heading out of the building to go sit in the car, to be honest, I was used to my mom being like this towards me. She never believed me.
I opened the car door and slammed it shut, I rested my head on the glass window as I waited for my mom to come back.
A couple of minutes went by and I watched her walk down the school steps heading towards the car. She had papers in her hands as she walked my way.
She opened the door and sat down in the driver's seat, she hadn't said anything to me once. It was quiet as she drove home
But of course me, I had to break the silence..
"Mom, I'm sorry," I told her sincerely
My mom wasn't paying any attention to me at all as her eyes were still on the road, "Mom you can't ignore me this whole ride, I already told you I'm sorry."
Silence
"How long am I suspended for?" I spoke again
"You're not coming back." she finally responded
"What—
"You heard me."
I looked at her confused as she looked through her black purse, she pulled out papers and handed them to me. Their was a phone number on the papers.
"Mama, I'm confused."
"I'm sending you away, only for a while. I'll try my best to contact you but you got to go. I don't want your behavior in my household, I don't want you to be a bad influence on my other child."
"You're making us black people look bad." She added
"Mom, she said racist things and touched me without permission and I already apologized."
"Stop talking!" she yelled and stopped the car
"Why don't you believe me."
"When we get home I'm calling the number, you're gonna go to a boarding school with all happy teens, so hopefully you'll change and adjust to the environment."
I sighed.
All Mother was doing was avoiding my questions, I had so many.
I really can't believe she's sending me away because I defended myself. and now I won't be able to see my little sister Kala for a long time.
"Don't talk back or say anything else because I guarantee nothing you can say can change my mind about this, now get out of the car," she said while pulling into the driveway
I hurried into the house and felt tears watering down my eyes, I ran into my room and slammed it shut.
My sobs echoed through the room, my tears continuing to stream down my face. Suddenly, I heard a soft knocking on the door behind me. My little sister was on the other side, trying to get my attention.
"Go away please." I said
"Kaaaia." My little sister yelled
I couldn't help but feel a slight smile tug on my lips. "Fine." I said opening the door.
Kala ran to me and hugged my tall legs.
I hugged her back and carried her on my hip. "Maama said I go to circus tammrow," Kala said
"Is my big sisssy coming?" Kala asked
"Uhh,"
"I don't know, I really hope so Kala, but do you know big sissy love you right?" I asked her
She nodded her head in a 'yes' motioned
I kissed her forehead and let her down. I watched her run out with her pink tutu skirt and white shirt.
My sister was 4 years old, this was very emotional for me, knowing that I won't be around to see her grow.
"Kaia!" My mother yelled down the steps
"Yes!?" I yelled back
"Come downstairs!"

"So I called the Boarding school and I registered you in, the drive is far in Washington state so you need to pack now because your leaving tomorrow in the morning."
"I'm sorry, but Washington state?!"
"Lots of white neighborhoods there, so try to fit in."
"And for some reason—there's lots of animals attack there." She said raising her eyebrow.
Mother continued to read the article online about the school and Washington state.
"You'll be fine." She stopped reading.
"And you're okay with just sending you're first born away like this?"
"This is a good thing for you Kaia, stop complaining." She patted my forehead and clapped the palm of her hands at me aggressively
"Now, go pack."
I rolled my eyes and went upstairs to go pack. I threw my suitcase on the floor in my room and went through my closet of clothes. As I turned around I saw Kala staring at my big suitcase on the floor.
"Kaaiaa leaving?" she asked
I looked at her in shock as she looked generously confused, "Yes, big sister is going bye-bye for a little while so I can't come to the circus tomorrow with you, it's just going to be you and Mom."
Just how mom likes it.
"I lovee you," she said
"I love you more Kala."
