❝ i had ALL and then most of
you, some and now NONE of
you ! ❞
the night we met, lord huron.
THE SOUND OF a thud alarmed her. she quickly turned her head towards the source of the sound, not caring about the handcuffs at that moment.
her breath hitched at the sight.
there was a pool of blood surrounding robin's body as he lay on his side on the floor. his hair was all over the place and the grabber was stood right by him, with a knife in his hand which was covered in crimson red.
he had a second knife.
a second knife. hidden from them.
she stared at his unmoving body in shock, fear and disbelief. the three feelings she hoped she never would have to experience, ever.
guess hope wasn't on her side this time. well, it didn't feel like anything was in on her side. nothing was in her favour.
it was like she was frozen in place. she couldn't move, couldn't scream, couldn't cry. she just felt..numb. it felt like time stopped for only a moment, but at the same time, everything went by in a blink of an eye.
a moment of silence passed. but then, the grabber slowly made his way towards the helpless girl. she shut her eyes, accepting her fate. it's not like she could do anything, anyway.
it wasn't until he heard a bunch of keys and metal sounds that she opened her eyes. she furrowed her brows and looked down, seeing the handcuffs gone and the grabber disappearing towards the other small room.
she never really noticed how numb they would feel after little blood flowing to them the past day or so, but she felt numb everywhere at this point, so there wasn't a clear difference.
as soon as she properly realised she had been released, she didn't hesitate to take off the tape on her mouth and run over to robin's limp body, sitting beside it. she immediately checked for his pulse, still holding onto that last bit of hope.
but she felt no heartbeat.
her heart dropped to her stomach, and she felt sick. she shook her head, already feeling the tears streaming out more than ever. she put both her hands on either side of him and shook him, "robin..? robin. robin, seriously, don't do this to me. robin! robin please!"
she put his head on her lap and cupped his cheeks. she noticed this was the first time in days that robin's face wasn't either scrunched up in pain or stressed and scared. well, the first time he showed nothing..because he was dead.
"no...robin.." she breathed out in a shaky voice.
she saw the stab wound which was directly into his heart. the heart that was no longer beating. the heart that carried not only blood, but bravery and care.
it was then that she finally let out a loud sob. knowing that the last bit of hope that robin would open his eyes any minute and tell her he's okay, was impossible.
"robin please! don't do this to me. not now. we were supposed to get out of here together. me and you. please wake up. please.." she gasped for air, having been crying so much.
it's weird how everything a person loves could unexpectedly be taken away in just a split second and we would never know. just moments ago, she felt robin beside her. just moments ago, she felt robin's lips onto hers.
did she take it all for granted?
what did she do to deserve this?
jaelin took a deep breaths in and out, as she felt her chest tighten, "shit! why?! how could he- robin, just, please, wake up..!"
it truly angered and confused her on how he was taken away from her just like that. every curse word in that sentence was filled with nothing but sorrow and pain.
she heard footsteps and slowly looked up, seeing the grabber stand there with a rolled up carpet in his hands. she furrowed her brows before she understood what he was doing.
she then grabbed robin's limp upper body and hugged it in a way, putting one arm around him and her other hand behind his head.
"no..no you're not taking him." she tried to say, but the shakiness in her voice and all the crying made it difficult, making her a tad bit quiet.
though, that didn't mean it wasn't stern and had a hint of anger in it. even though robin was considered dead, she didn't want the grabber to take him. who knows, if jaelin manages to survive, she could take him to the hospital and maybe, just maybe, there was a chance he could still live.
the grabber stared at her for a couple seconds before abruptly dropping the rolled up carpet on the floor. the sudden action made her jump slightly.
he walked towards her at the same time she tried to move herself away from him whilst holding robin close to her. though, her aching wrists weren't helping at all.
once he was close to her, she shoved him away with as much force as she could. she also kicked at him- doing practically anything to keep him away.
unfortunately, her weaknesses were outweighed. the grabber really lived up to his name, because one second jaelin was holding onto robin tightly, and then the next, he was taken from her again.
she put up a good fight..just not as good as she thought. she was hungry, tired and had painful wrists. it was obviously an unfair fight by a whole lot.
the grabber left a sobbing jaelin on the floor, with robin's limp body in his hands and the rolled up carpet.
she failed him. she couldn't believe she let robin go so easily. it was her fault. if she was stronger, maybe she could've fought him away and still held robin in her arms.
it was her fault robin was taken again. it was her fault for not being careful. it was her fault that she let her guard down.
"i'm sorry robin. i really am." she said, barely above a whisper, "please come back. please. i'm sorry."
IT HAD BEEN a few hours since the..incident. jaelin hadn't moved an inch from her spot in the corner. she was huddled up with her knees to her chest and her head hung low, void of emotion. she couldn't cry, as much as she wanted to, because she used up all her tears.
the door opened again, but she couldn't bring herself to look up. she knew it was him, anyway. he stood there for a good minute or so, and that's when she knew something was up.
unwillingly, she slowly turned her head up. she was face to face with the grabber as he stood there, reaching into his pocket. she wouldn't be surprised if it was a knife.
"i got you a little present." he said in a sickeningly tone. he tossed it towards her and it landed about more than halfway in front of her. he then left and locked the door.
she moved her gaze onto the object, realising it was a familiar dark green fabric. robin's bandana. but it was more red if anything.
she slowly and silently went to retrieve it. she picked it up and clutched it in her hands, feeling not only the bloody fabric but her heart breaking into a million pieces.
it didn't feel real to her. everything was overwhelming. jaelin and robin were just kids. kids who had futures ahead of them, kids who would graduate, kids who would be able to grow and live out the life they wanted.
now that was far beyond their reach.
she had all, and then most of him, some and now none of him.
