JAMIE WALKED INSIDE THE HELICARRIER ALONGSIDE DOZENS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. SECURITY GUARDS. After the incident that happened in the forest, the female was ordered to escort Loki into the jet, her eyes hardening every time he tried to make a conversation with her. He was handcuffed but still held an amusement smile on his face as they passed down the halls.
Bruce, who was inside the lab working on the scepter, looked up and locked eyes with him. His blood turned cold and clenched his jaw, turning his head around.
Reaching to a large glass cell, Jamie removed his cuffs and brought him inside the cell while having a tight grip on his arm. Loki gave Jamie a cocky smirk as the doors closed, his piercing blue eyes staring into hers.
Fury joined her and pressed a button which opened up a hatch underneath the cell. "If you even try to scratch that glass and escape, I won't hesitate to slit your throat with both of my swords." she threatened, her eyes turning black.
Loki titled his head to the side, a wide smirk forming into his face, "A woman with words. I like that." he told her, his deep voice making shivers down her spine. She took a last look at him before leaving him with Fury, who nodded at her once she stepped out of the section.
Heading to the briefing room she glanced at her side and paused, noticing the short brunette's presence down the hall. Jamie's lips curved into a soft smile before heading to her longtime friend.
Anna was talking to one of the securities that brought Loki and by the looks of it, she seemed rather worried.
Sauntering towards her, she finally locked eyes with her. Anna's eyes lit up and looked back at the guard, muttering quick apologies before jogging towards her with her arms wide open.
Jamie let out a small laugh as her body collided with hers. Anna had her arms tightly around her neck and gave her a tight squeeze before pulling away. "You're here! Oh my, I can't believe your back." she chirped, smiling widely at her friend.
If there was one thing she adored the most, it was Anna Roselyn Miller. She was, along with Jamie, one of the few remaining survivors of H.R.N. After the destruction of the agency, she also joined S.H.I.E.LD. working as a part-time agent, and participating in global security to keep the world from threats.
Jamie simpered, gently rubbing her arms. "I can't believe it either, but I'm back and it feels good, I think," she admitted, shrugging her shoulders.
Anna hummed in delight and linked her arms with hers as they walked to the briefing room, "It's good to have you back, Milla. I've truly missed you." she told her with a sigh, diverting her gaze away from her towards the busy hall.
Jamie turned her head to her, her eyes softening, "I missed you too. I'm sorry for not contacting you any sooner. I was-" Anna shook her head, giving her a sympathetic smile. "It's not your fault, love. We all deal with our problems differently." she cut her off, leading her to the meeting room.
With one last pat on the back, she turned around and gave her a grin. "We'll catch up later. I have tons of paperwork waiting for me at my desk." Anna told her with a gloomy sigh, making the ex-soldier chuckle. "I'll see you later, Annie."
"The mindless beast, makes play he's still a man. How desperate are you, that you call upon such lost creatures to defend you?" Natasha's head perked up at the sound of a door opening, taking in her friend's presence. She gave her a tip-lipped smile before landing her gaze on the screen.
Jamie quickly returned the smile and took a seat beside her, her head turning to the monitor, her face now turning stoic. "How desperate am I? You threaten my world with war. You steal a force you can't hope to control. You talk about peace and you kill 'cause it's fun. You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did." she heard Fury replied back, making her jaw clench.
Rubbing the back of her neck, she tilted her head to the side and inched closer to the monitor, intently listening to the interaction. "Ooh. It burns you to come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what? A warm light for all mankind to share, and then to be reminded what real power is."
With a scoff, Fury turned his heel and walked down the stairs, "Well, you let me know if Real Power wants a magazine or something." He sassed before leaving his cell. Loki looked back at the camera, a wide smirk etched onto his face.
Everyone watched until the monitor went black. Thor, who didn't move from his spot, attentively listened and stood there stunned. Jamie could still see Loki's face in her mind and she wanted nothing but to punch that cocky smirk off his face.
"He really grows on you, doesn't he?" Bruce said and folded his arms in front of his chest, looking up from the monitor to the others.
"Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?" Steve interjected, his gaze landing on the Asgardian.
Thor's gaze diverted away from the floor towards Steve and sauntered towards the table. "He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard nor any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract." he explained, his tone getting serious.
"An army. From outer space?" Steve added, his brows furrowed.
"So he's building another portal." Bruce thought out loud, looking at Steve. "That's what he needs Erik Selvig for." he conceded, gesturing with his glasses.
Thor's eyebrow furrowed with confusion, "Selvig?"
"He's an astrophysicist." Bruce stated, making Thor frown, "He's a friend."
"Loki has him under some kind of spell, along with one of ours," Natasha added to their discussion, making Jamie nod her head in agreement.
"I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here." Steve addressed, his gaze darting across the room.
"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him." Bruce mindlessly said, making Thor's eyes harden.
"Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he's my brother." Thor argued as he walked closer to the table.
Jamie's frown deepened and gave the Asgardian a disapproving look, "He killed eighty people in two days." she reminded him, making his body shift awkwardly to the side as he avoided her stare.
"He's adopted."
"I think it's about the mechanics. Iridium, what did they need the Iridium for?" Bruce inquired, looking at everyone in the room before pausing when he saw Tony entering the room.
"It's a stabilizing agent." Tony butted in the discussion with agent Coulson by his side and turned to him, "I'll fly you there. Keep the love alive." He told his friend before giving his full attention to the others. "Means the portal won't collapse on itself, like it did at S.H.I.E.L.D."
Walking past Thor, Tony glanced at him and patted his bicep. "No hard feelings, Point Break. You've got a mean swing." He told him with a look before turning back to the topic. "Also, it means the portal can open as wide, and stay open as long, as Loki wants." he finished as he stood beside the monitors and machines standing at the front.
"Uh, raise the mid-mast, ship the top sails." Tony suggested to one of the workers, making a few of them look up from their screen, a look of disdain plastered onto their faces. Jamie scoffed under her breath and shook her head, getting tired from his antics.
Tony looked around the monitors and placed a button-sized hacking implant under Fury's desk, without anyone noticing. "Well, that sounds exhausting." he bluntly replied, referring to Maria's answer at how Fury does his work with one eye. "The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the cube."
Jamie crossed her arms in front of her chest, giving the billionaire a questioning stare with her eyes narrowed, "When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?"
Tony gave her a smirk, "Last night. The packet, Selvig's notes, the Extraction Theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading?" he taunted, gesturing with both of his hands and walked closer to the others.
"Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?" Steve asked, his expression getting more stoic.
"He's got to heat the cube to a hundred and twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier," Bruce answered, making Tony hum with agreement. "Unless, Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect."
"Well, if he could do that he could achieve Heavy Ion Fusion at any reactor on the planet," Bruce added, making Jamie cock her head to the side and looked at Natasha with confusion. The Russian assassin simply shrugged her shoulders.
"Finally, someone who speaks English." Tony chimed, walking closer to the scientist with his arm raised out.
"Is that what just happened?" Steve said out loud, making Jamie turn her head to him. "Seems so," she mumbled, but enough for him to hear.
Tony and Bruce shook hands, a glimmer clouding in their eyes as the mutual respect for each other bloomed. "It's good to meet you, Dr. Banner. Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster." he praised, making Bruce frown at his words at the end and looking down at his shoes. "Thanks."
"Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube. I was hoping you might join him." Fury burst into the briefing room, giving Tony a look.
"Let's start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon." Steve noted, making Jamie's eyes glint with curiosity as she listened to him intently.
"I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys." Fury pondered, making Thor raise his eyebrows at the word in the end.
"Monkeys? I do not understand." The Asgardian puzzled with a frown on his face.
Steve pointed his finger, placing it on the table as his grin reached his eyes, "I do! I understood that reference." he proudly exclaimed. Tony rolled his eyes and Jamie chuckled, causing him to glance at her, a tint of crimson painting his cheeks.
"Shall we play, doctor?" Tony turned his attention to the scientist, making Bruce give him a nod.
"Let's play some."
