𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. | ❛ Rendezvous. ❜

"GUYS.  .  ." Natasha cautioned, her eyes looking up. More Chitauri soldiers appeared and fled out of the energy hole as they roamed through the damaged city.

"Call it, Cap," Tony said through his suit.

Captain America stepped in front of the team, his gaze never leaving the energy core. "Alright, listen up. Until we can close that portal, we're gonna use containment. Barton, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or your turn it to ash." he explained.

"Wanna give me a lift?" Barton asked Tony.

Tony walked towards him, "Right. Better clench up, Legolas." He lifted Hawkeye as they went up to the building.

"Thor, you've gotta try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You've got the lightning. Light the bastards up." Steve told Thor, making the god nod and leaped in the air.

Steve's gaze turned back on the girls, "You, Jamie, and I, we stay here on the ground. Keep the fighting here." he ordered, making them nod as he looked at Bruce. "And Hulk; smash."

The Hulk lets out a smirk before leaping in the air, soaring high up into the nearest building. He ran up the wall, hitting several Chitauri soldiers, snapping them in half. He dove towards a building on the other side of the street, throwing the dead creature at the other soldiers. The Hulk backhands them and seizes, throwing them down.

Thor grabbed onto the tower and raised the Mjölnir, blinding bolting out of the hammer as lightning strikes down from above. Thor aimed the shockwave towards the portal, channeling the blast, and fired the electricity out at the monsters flying out of the core. The Chitauries convulsed and dropped dead to the ground.

The Heroine let out a cry of battle as she launched herself to the creatures. Her blade came in contact with their skin, making the sword vibrate with black energy as she dove it inside of them, killing them instantly.

Steve fought another Chitauri with his shield, making the creature roar in pain when the shield absorbed energy, throwing it at their face killing them instantly. More Chitauries appeared around him, and he wondered if he could take them all down. He used all of his strength and let the shield soar through the air, hitting the creatures one by one before coming back into his hands.

Jamie was fighting off two chitauries when he heard Steve yell out in pain, making her instinctively turn her head around for the sound, her eyes searching for the 95-year-old soldier. Hearing a snarl behind her, she stabbed the creature with her sword and chanted a sign. The fire ignited into her palm and fired at the Chitauries, killing them.

Running towards Steve she saw him on the ground, trying to fight them off. She frowned when she saw him without his shield and speed to him. Grabbing her black sword, she yelled out for the soldier, grabbing his attention before throwing the sword through the air, making the blade fall back from the air, energy-absorbing as he brought his hand out, the sword delicately placed into his hand.

Steve didn't hold back and sliced its head off, panting as he quickly stood up from his spot and successfully killed some of the creatures in front of him. Jamie ripped one of the creature's heads off and was about to turn around to her next target when another Chitauri grabbed her from behind and threw her against a large building, her body hitting the hard rocks, creating a huge hole and she fell down.

Closing her eyes, she felt arms catching her from the fall. Opening her eyes, she saw the Hulk putting her gently down the ground before sprinting away to fight off the creatures lingering in the air. "Thank you, Bruce."

Jamie watched as the army of Chitauries surrounding Steve and Natasha, making her blood boil. The black veins appeared under her eyes and she went into Virago-mode. Running towards the pair she once again chanted a sign. "Aard!" she shouted, telekinetic waves knocking down the creatures around them.

Natasha and Steve looked at Jamie in astonishment, watching as she killed them with no mercy. "I'm impressed every time," the Russian assassin muttered with slightly wide eyes as she watched the Heroine jumping in the air, and falling down gracefully in front of a Chitauri, ripping their insides out.

Slowly turning around to face the pair, her eyes fell back into her original color, her hazel brown eyes looking around her surroundings, making sure it wasn't attacking her friends.

"I think this belongs to you, Jamie." Steve's voice snapping her out of her state. Whirling her head around to him, his smile made her lip tug upwards. She grabbed her sword from his hand, gracefully thanking him.

Natasha, who still had the scepter in her hands, was taken off her feet by a Chitarui soldier. She tiresomely took it down by cutting its throat, successfully killing it. Gripping on the rifle tightly, she turned to attack, but once she saw the pair standing in front of her, she slumped back.

"Captain, none of this is gonna mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal." the Russian tiredly said, her posture slouched as she breathed heavily.

"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it," Steve responded thoughtfully, his frown deepening.

"Well, maybe it's not about guns," Natasha added, gesturing to the flying creatures.

"You wanna get up there, you're gonna need a ride."

Natasha glanced at him before she turned her heel around, "I got a ride. I could use a lift though." she hinted at her friend, who stood next to Steve.

Jamie gave her a wink, "I got you, hot-stuff." she said before bringing up her palm, chanting a sign, and angles her blades. Steve gave them an unsure look, "Are you sure about this?" he hesitated as he looked back and forth to the girls.

Natasha gave the Heroine a smirk before glancing at Steve, "Yeah, It's gonna be fun." she answered before running towards the ex-soldier. Black energy maneuvered around her palms as it started to increase, creating a huge slope for her to give a boost. She hit the surface and soared through the air, grabbing onto a flying chariot.

The pair watched as Natasha's figure disappeared through the damaged city, leaving them alone. Steve glanced back at Jamie and cleared his throat, finding his hand rubbing his neck shyly, "Thanks for the save, by the way." he told her, referring to what happened a little while ago.

Jamie turned her head, a soft smile reaching her eyes as she gently shrugged her shoulders, "No problem. Just helping a soldier out." she responded, looking into his eyes. His cheeks painted a crimson red color as he gripped onto his shield, his gaze elsewhere.

Jamie's attention was brought elsewhere when she heard screams of desperate people running from their lives. Her eyes turned black, and she could feel the veins increase under her eyes as she looked at her predators. "These people need assistance. I'll see you later, Cap." her firm voice filling inside his ears, making him nod.

"Be careful," Steve said making her halt in her steps, his voice lacing with genuine concern. Thankfully the redness in his cheeks went unnoticed by the female and he started to wonder where he got that sudden confidence from.

Softly biting her bottom lip, she tried to ignore the warm feeling in her stomach. Jamie turned around once again, her hair fluttering in the wind. She gave him a cheeky grin, "Aren't I always?" she said before leaping in the air, disappearing from his sight.

The Heroine dodged its hits as she maneuvered around the Chitauri soldier with her blade tightly gripped on her hand. She waits for her opponent to make a move, and when it does she quickly slides forward and thrusted her sword inside its stomach. The Chitauri roared in pain as they sizzled and convulsed before dropping dead on the ground.

Jamie let out a tired sigh, feeling her muscles tight and sore. She took a look around her, her heart clenching at dozens of civilians running for their lives. As she was about to turn around, another Chitauri fired a struck of lightning towards her causing her to crash into a damaged car.

She let out a groan and slowly pushed her body to stand up. The creature stood in front of her, making hissing sounds. Jamie glowered, feeling her eyes changing color. The capillaries under her eyes appeared and she dropped her sword before dashing towards them at a fast speed. Her body collided with the Chitauri as she jumped on its head, her hands gripping their neck.

The creature fizzled and howled with anger. They caught a grip on her waist and threw her harshly on the ground. Jamie hit her face on the hard ground first, causing her to gasp for air as leisurely shifted her body to the side. Blood surged from her mouth and she spat it out, not noticing them looming over her with a scepter in their hands.

Hearing a faint vibration, she looked up and was met with the scepter being pointed towards her. She brought both of her hands on the staff but they were fast and slammed a punch on her face, causing her to croak out more blood from her mouth.

The Chitauri was ready to fire when a sudden ball of fire charged forward them, creating an explosion and killed them. Jamie covered her body and hid her face to prevent any damage from coming towards her. She released her tight grip on herself and confusedly looked around, her eyes darting across the area.

"I hope I came right in time." The familiar voice filling her eardrums, making her lips unknowingly curve up in a smile. She flinched, feeling a burning pain on her left cheek. Her smile dropped and was replaced by a grimace instead.

"Don't you look ravishing?" Anna joked, her eyes glinting with a tint of mischief and playfulness. She slowly approached her and gave her a smile, but her eyes held concern and worry at her form. The ex-soldier rolled her eyes and brought her hand out, "Quit joking around and help me up, Annie." she whined, her lips forming into a downwards pout.

The sorceress let out a chuckle before taking her hand, gently pushing her body up with her other hand. She brushed off some dust and other dirt on her shoulders before she hurled another spell, pushing her friend behind her, and shot another ball of energy at the Chiaturies that were approaching them.

Jamie leaned her body against hers, feeling her muscles trying to heal themselves. She gritted her teeth and grunted, earning a worried look from Thor, who was fighting off an army of Chitauries and happened to catch a glimpse of the Heroine.

"Are you sure you're alright, Milla?" Anna asked in a small panicky voice, frowning. Jamie brushed her off and shook her head, "Yep. . .Just need a moment." she replied as she pulled her body up to a standing position. Her hands found their way to her sides and felt a piece of metal at her fingertips. Without hesitation, she pulled out the metal from her body with a small groan.

Anna's worried gaze made her look up. Giving her a grin, she patted her back. "Let's go and kick some ass."

Black Widow walked up to its energy core, watching how the machine absorbers all its energy. Selvig, who was tiredly slumped down and weakened from the compulsion, looked at her with a desperate look. The Tesseract's energy was firing towards the portal, surging off energy through the sky.

Elijah joined soon after, noticing his friend was huddled in a corner. Selvig slowly turned his head towards him, his eyes painted with guilt. "The Loki's scepter, the energy...the Tesseract can't fight. You guys can't protect against yourselves." he shakily explained, his eyes darting back and forth at the pair.

Natasha glanced at Elijah, noticing his tense posture at the mention of the Tesseract. "It's not your guys' fault. You didn't know what you were doing." the Russian assassin reassured, bringing a hand on the scientist's shoulder.

"Well, actually we think we did. Elijah and I built in a safety to cut the power source," he said with hesitation, his voice getting raspier.

"Loki's scepter," Natasha muttered, but enough for them to hear. Realization hit her like a truck as her eyes darted towards Elijah, who looked at her. "It might be able to close the portal," he said with determination. They looked down, noticing the scepter laying down on a building.

"And I'm looking right at it."

Selvig and Elijah went right back in scientist mode as they touched the computer, clicking on numerous buttons. Elijah gave Natasha a nod, signaling her to break the force field by Loki's scepter.

Natasha gripped the staff tightly in her hands as she approached the energy core. Slowly and carefully, she broke into the force field, almost touching the Tesseract. "I can close it! Can anybody copy? I can shut the portal down!" she exclaimed through her earpiece.

"Do it!"

"No, wait!" Tony cautioned, making Steve panic.

"Stark, these things are still coming!"

"I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it." He said, his voice filled with firm persistence. He grabbed onto the firing rocket and fled towards the energy core.

"Stark, you know that's a one-way trip?" Jamie's worried voice floating into his ears through his suit.

Iron Man used his speed and went flying up straight up into the sky, towards the portal. "Save the rest for return, J," Tony told Jarvis before climbing higher over the city.

Back in the bride, every single agent held their breaths as they watched Iron Man fly up into the energy portal. He gained speed, flinging himself inside the portal. The suit began to freeze and the communications slowly started to misconnect.

Tony lets go of the missile once he went inside the portal. He falls back down onto the opening and looked up, watching the rocket reaching the main ship. It explodes, causing the entire armada to burst into a supernova. All of the Chitauri soldiers dropped dead on the ground, making the Avengers look up, waiting for his arrival.

"You can do it, Tony," Jamie mumbled, her eyes on the portal.

After getting orders from Steve, Natasha closed the portal without hesitation. Pulling the scepter out, the Tesseract turned off its gleaming core, causing the portal to close. Iron Man's small figure was hurled backward as he fell down just right before it vanished.

Steve watched him from the sky, his smile reaching his eyes. "Son of a gun!"

But as Tony neared closer, their expression fell once they noticed his limp body falling, and falling. "He's not slowing down." Thor worried, swinging his Mjölnir around. Just as he was about to fly up and catch him, Hulk beat him to it and caught him in the air, both crashing down on a building.

Hulk pulled him over to the side as the others ran over to them. Thor ripped off Tony's helmet. Jamie kneeled over the billionaire and leaned closer, her heart pounding inside her chest when he appears to be dead. Everyone stood still not sure what to do when Hulk roared in anger, startling Tony awake in the process.

Steve sighed in relief and exhaled, watching him regain back to his consciousness. "What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me?" he croaked out, feeling his chest rising.

Steve let out another breath, feeling exhaustion gushing over him. "We won."

"Alright. Hey. Alright. Good job, guys." Tony cheered, making Anna quietly giggle earning a grin from Thor as he glanced at her. "Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it." He continued with his rambles, making Jamie chuckle.

"We're not finished yet." Thor interrupted, looking up at the Stark Tower.

"And then shawarma after."

Loki, who was still sprawled out on the hard floor, crawled onto the stairs with a wheeze. He took a few breathers before stopping, sensing someone behind him. He slowly turned around to see the Avengers looking down at him, all in their glory as they held their respective weapons in their hands.

The God of Mischief grunted in pain as he leaned back, "If it's all the same to you. I'll have that drink now." he said, his eyes nervously looking at the group of heroes.
