KEILAH WINTERS DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL SHE WAS STARING AT. Okay, she did, but she also didn't at the same time. All she did know was that the restraining order she had against Joshua Rosene had officially been violated.
It had been a normal day since she landed back in Albany, GA. She went home, dropped off her things at an empty house, for everyone was out, greeted Zeus, changed clothes, and left to get her nails done.
Yesterday, she'd gone on a hike with Sunny, Laura, and Zendaya. While they were out, she managed to break three of her nails, which hadn't been fun. It completely ruined the rest of the hike as she dramatically stewed over it. She'd promised herself that she'd get them done the day she came home. Walking around with broken nails was embarrassing for her, she needed to keep up appearances. Primarily for herself, just so she could feel good and in control of something in her life.
After she got her nails back to their glorious state, she was going to drive back home and take a fat nap. That was the plan, at least. It had been up until she was exiting the nail salon with her phone, keys, and purse in hand.
Skipping, she approached her car with a satisfied smile lining her lips. It was upon reaching the driver's side that her face and purse dropped. All movement came to a halt. Glass littered the inside and outside of her vehicle, reflecting streaks of sunlight off them. The entire window had been shattered into thousands of shards and she gasped.
"Shit, fuck," she swore under her breath, quickly picking her purse back up. "Paul Anka, I'm so sorry," she whispered to her car.
Three months ago, Jules had taken her car for a joyride with his dumbass friends and wrecked it. It took a minute, but she eventually got it repaired. Paul Anka was as good as new, but now this. If one more incident happened and she had to file one more claim, she might as well just walk everywhere.
That was a bit dramatic, but so was she.
"Who the hell did this to you?!" Keilah muttered, walking around the perimeter of her car, looking for any other signs of damage. Clearly, this was intentional. Everything else was fine and so were the other cars in the parking lot.
While she passed by the passenger side for a second time, something in the corner of her eye caught her attention. Back peddling, she peered through the window. She could see a brown Champion hoodie folded nicely in the passenger seat with a yellow envelope on top of it.
Every hair on her body stood straight as chills raced down her spine. Joshua.
Without a second thought, she reached into her bag and pulled out her phone. After everything that happened last year, she knew better than to act without calling the cops first. Hands shaking, she dialed 9-1-1.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"Yeah, hi. My name's Keilah Archambault and I'm parked outside of Pardon My French nail salon on Brick Avenue. My car was broken into and I think it was done by my ex-boyfriend, Joshua Rosene. I-I don't know if he's nearby or not, but I have a restraining order against him. H-He shouldn't have—" Choking on the rising lump in her throat, she coughed into her arm.
"Ms. Archambault, stay where you are. I'm dispatching an officer to your location right now." The operator said calmly.
Shakily nodding, Keilah's vision blurred. "C-Can you stay on the line with me until they get here?"
"Of course."

❨⠀keilah ─ amandla ─ dave ─ detective van cardhall⠀❩
"you're home now, right?" keilah asks the moment the call connects. she is sitting in the back seat of a police cruiser with the door open, doing her best to keep it together. luckily, her sunglasses were able to prevent anyone from noticing she'd been crying.
exactly two hours have passed since she called the police, and she could hardly remember any of what occurred. she just knew that an officer showed up, checked her car for anything suspicious, read the note, questioned her, and called detective van cardhall to the scene. once the detective arrived, the responding officer went into all the businesses in the small shopping center, asking if he could see their surveillance footage. if they had any cameras outside, that was.
blinking, amandla is taken aback by the sudden question. she wasn't able to even greet her. "yeah, i got back two days ago. why? what's up?" she comes to a stop on the sidewalk, motioning for her dad to do the same. they were currently out comic book shopping.
"can i stay with you?" darting her eyes to detective van cardhall, who was standing outside the car next to her. she swallows harshly and glances away. things were officially bad.
god, she thought they were when joshua was only texting her, but this was something else entirely. he'd broken the restraining order, broke into her car, and left a hoodie and note. all of which was captured by security cameras in the parking lot, confirming it was indeed him.
"yeah, of course. i'm staying at my dad's place right now, but you're more than welcome to come," amandla pauses, feeling her heart drop. it's then that she notices the flashes of red and blue lights. "keils, w-what's going on? why can i see police lights?"
keilah runs a hand through her hair, finding it difficult to speak. "i uh," she chokes out, catching the reassuring nod from detective van cardhall. he's been working on her case since last year. he'd been the one who responded to the first-ever phone call made to the police. "joshua broke into my car. he left his brown champion hoodie with a stupid note. we don't know if it's safe for me to go back home."
amandla's jaw drops. "are you fucking serious? keils, i am so sorry. my dad and i can come to pick you up wherever you are right now and drive you back to his place."
"we absolutely can," dave jones chimes in, briefly appearing on camera.
waving at the man, keilah doesn't bother faking a smile. "hey, dave," she greets before addressing what her best friend said. "but yeah, i'm being fucking serious," she sighs, feeling a headache coming her way. "i have to go to the station to fill out paperwork and make a formal statement, but you can pick me up there."
"actually," van cardhall speaks up, grabbing the blonde's attention. "if you can provide me with their address, i can give you a ride just as a safety precaution."
a rush of relief floods keilah's nervous system and she nods immediately. "yes, please. that'd be great, actually."
"while you're at the station, we'll drive to your place and grab some of your things," amandla says, glancing at her father, who nods in agreement.
"keils, i can give your mom and luca a call if they haven't been contacted yet," dave offers.
van cardhall replies, "we've only been able to make contact with ms. archambault's step-brothers, angel and jules. they will be meeting us at the station. you can give her parents a call if you'd like, it wouldn't hurt. if you do, however, please notify me. ms. archambault can send you my work number."
dave nods in agreement, already pulling out his cell phone.
"thank you," keilah breathes, giving the two jones' a grateful smile. "thank you, thank you. mands, i'll text you when i'm on my way."
amandla salutes her. "always, serena. i love you."
"i love you, blair."

hey everyone!! i hope you all enjoyed the twenty-seventh chapter!
THE DRAMA IS GETTING REAL NOW!!!
Volume Two has the most insane storylines in it, i swear. get ready for a rollercoaster ride, everyone. the story of keilah winters is just getting started.
𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑: thank you all for taking the time out of your days to comment on this story. it means a lot and helps the story be spread to a wider audience &&& gives me the opportunity to grow as an author. all i ask is that people vote on each chapter, please. as a creator, it takes time to write and develop stories. especially social media-based ones because there's so much to take into consideration and the amount of time i've dedicated to finding graphics, screenshotting everything siena mirabella (and other characters) posts, making graphics, etc., is ridiculous. so please, vote on every chapter. it means a lot more than i could ever express.
don't forget to vote & comment!
