XXXII. Whispers in the Dark
In the dimly lit hideout of the League of Villains, the air was thick with the scent of smoke and tension. Kurogiri stood at the corner of the room, his gaze fixed on the figure of Tomura Shigaraki, who lounged lazily on one of the worn chairs, his fingers tapping in impatience. Kurogiri couldn't help but notice the flicker of curiosity in his leader's eyes whenever the topic of you was brought up.
"You've been asking about them," Kurogiri observed, his voice calm, but there was an underlying note of concern. "What is it about Y/N that piques your interest, Tomura?"
Tomura didn't respond immediately. Instead, he leaned forward, fingers twitching, his face betraying an odd mix of thoughtfulness and amusement. "There's something about them," he muttered, more to himself than to Kurogiri. "They're strong—different from the others. And they don't exactly fit into the usual mold, do they? Maybe I just like the idea of breaking someone like that."
Kurogiri's sharp eyes narrowed. He was no fool—he could tell there was more to it than that. But before he could probe further, the sound of the door creaked open, and Giran's voice interrupted the conversation.
"Ah, Tomura! I have some new guests for you to meet!" Giran's cheerful tone contrasted sharply with the grim atmosphere of the hideout. He stepped into the room, ushering two new figures behind him.
"Meet Dabi and Himiko Toga," Giran announced with a flourish. "They've joined our little family."
Tomura looked up lazily, scanning the newcomers with disinterest before his eyes landed on Dabi. The man, with his dark, scarred skin and an unassuming, yet intimidating presence, smirked.
"You're much grosser looking in person," Dabi remarked, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he sized up Tomura.
Tomura's eyes flickered with mild annoyance but he said nothing, his attention shifting to the excited girl standing next to Dabi.
Himiko Toga, her blonde hair wild and her eyes gleaming with a manic excitement, practically bounced on her feet. "I'm so glad to be here!" she exclaimed with a grin that didn't quite reach her eyes. "I've been looking forward to joining! Especially with all the fun we're going to have, right?"
Tomura tilted his head slightly, studying her for a moment before letting out a small chuckle, clearly unphased by her enthusiastic demeanor. "Fun, huh?" he mused, eyes flicking back toward Kurogiri, who was still watching with a sharp focus.
"Well, we've got our hands full," Tomura said, a wicked smile creeping onto his lips. "But don't get too attached to the idea of fun, little girl. This isn't a game."
Himiko's smile widened, and she winked at him, as if she had already figured out exactly what Tomura meant. "I love games," she said softly, her voice an unsettling mixture of innocence and malice.
The tension in the room was thick, but for now, it was business as usual. The League of Villains had just gained a few new players, and Tomura's thoughts wandered back to you. You were still fresh in his mind—the one he couldn't seem to figure out.
As the conversation shifted and the new recruits began to get acquainted with the others, Tomura found himself distracted, wondering just how far you would go if you were ever to cross paths with the League. He knew one thing for certain—if you did, it would be a challenge he'd savor.
And challenges were something Tomura Shigaraki loved above all.
