LEIGHTON PATCH GIGGLED excitedly as she sat in the backseat of her mother's car. In her arms she held the board game ' monopoly' she had found the game while herself and her mother went shopping, insisting Eudora buy it so she could play it with Diego during their fun week.
It had been approximately three months since Number 728 legally became Leighton Patch and about six months since she moved in with Eudora. Since then Eudora had made it her mission to educate her child about everything she could although Leighton was still pretty naive and had trouble pronouncing things.
Diego Hargreeves had also become a steady figure in Leighton's life coming over often and playing with her. The two invented a week were they purely hanged out with each other, with Eudora's daily lessons and trying to adjust to the world around her. This fun week was always a breath of fresh air for Leighton.
The redhead grabbed her mother's hand and began to walk into Diego's apartment complex. Upon reaching the door Leighton bounced on the balls on her feet while knocking excessively. The door swung open to reveal a disheveled looking Diego Hargreeves, he's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he looked at the two females before him.
"What are you two doing here." Eudora clicked her tongue in irritation as her orbs steely gazed at the man before them. "It's Lei's fun week. Remember?" Eudora knew how much Lei looked forward to this week every month, and she honestly revelled from the happiness the redhead emitted every time the fun week was coming around.
Diego's eyes flashed with realisation and her ran his calloused hand through his short brown hair "Shit I forgot. The old bastard finally kicked it, and I got to go back home for his funeral." Eudora's glare sharpened as she slapped his shoulder not appreciating his use of crude language in front of her child.
Leighton stood in the corner mouthing the word 'shit' repeatedly to herself as though it was a food sample and she was trying to determine if it was nice or not. This wasn't an abnormal thing to do, while Leighton had grasped the basics of English and speaking full sentences. There were still an abundance of words she had to learn, when one of these came up she would mouth the world. Trying to decipher it's meaning.
Leighton's shoulder sagged as she finally picked up in what Diego was saying. Her eyes saddened giving her the appearance of a kicked puppy dog "Does that me and Dee can't have our fun week?" Diego glanced at Eudora who's glare had intensified. He gulped loudly and glanced at Leighton who had a look of pure depression on her freckles face. "Well I mean I'm just going for a day, you could come with me and we'll be back to enjoy the rest of our week."
Leighton's blue eye lit with happiness and her mouth formed into a bright grin as she started to do what Eudora and Diego had named her happy dance. "Awesome!"
Eudora gave a grateful look towards the man slapping his chest as she left "Thanks Diego, it means a lot to her. But if you're siblings or you do anything to hurt her.I will turn into an evil sadistic demon spawn bitch from hell that'll make you wish you were never born." She whispered in his ear enjoying the fright in his eyes as she glanced back at him once more.
She gave Leighton a quick kiss on the forehead and tight hug while saying "I love you." In which Leighton replied with "I love you more."
Once Eudora had gone Leighton turned to Diego and gave him her biggest grin "So when do we leave."

LEIGHTON'S JAW DROPPED as she stood in front of the Hargreeves home. "Wow Dee, you didn't tell me you lived in a castle." Diego chuckled softly while placing a hand on the excited redhead's shoulder. "Trust me,Lei. This place was far from a castle." The teen frowned slightly, squeezing her friends hand in reassurance.
The two entered the house. Two women entered Leighton's gaze causing her to shrink slightly and move behind Diego. "I'm glad you're here." Diego glared as he stared at the shorter woman with hostility "Least someone is."
The taller woman glared at Leighton's only friend with the same amount of hostility "Eat shit, Diego." Leighton's mouth formed into an 'O' as she watched the two converse the only person she had seen talk to Diego like that was her mother "You're seriously gonna defend her? After what she did?"
The older woman raised an eyebrow, clearly exhausted with Diego's behaviour "You're seriously gonna do this today? At Dad's funeral?" Diego didn't answer but opted to turn away disgust evidently leaving a mortified Leighton behind.
Leighton looked at the two women sheepishly "How do you do?" The two women exchanged a short glance before turning to the teenager "Who are you."Β Leighton smiled brightly and she placed her hands outwards while puffing up her chest just as Eudora and Diego had taught her "My name is Leighton Patch and it's a pleasure for you to meet me- wait no..."
The two women giggled as they watched the panicking girl. The taller one kneeled to Leighton's height "Well it's nice to meet you Leighton. I'm Allison and this is Vanya."
Leighton smiled her panicking episode forgotten as she looked at the two adults in awe.
"Are you two princesses? You're really pretty." Allison chuckled while Vanya flushed slightly giving the young girl an awkward smile of thanks.

LEIGHTON SAT ON DIEGO'S LAP while he traced patterns on her back. She watched as a rather burly man entered into the room. He cleared his throat before addressing his adoptive siblings "I thought we could have the
memorial service at sundown. Out by Dad's favorite tree."
Allison question the man clearly confused at his statement "Dad had a favorite tree?"
"The big elm? He, um...he used to
take me out there and we'd sit and...and talk about..." The man trailed off awkwardly as he realised that his adoptive siblings had never got witness that side of their father "It doesn't matter. What's important is: there are things we still need to discuss."
A tall skinny man which Leighton hadn't noticed previously spoke up as he moved to sit on the couch beside Diego and Leighton "Question. Will there be food?"
Leighton squealed loudly as she turned to look up at Diego "Do you think they'll have ice cream Dee?"
"Who are you." The burly man said causing the redhead to jump slightly her cheeks flushed as she realised everyone was looking at her. The skinny man poked her cheek slightly "Oh your real." This caused Leighton to look at him indecorously.
Diego spoke for the girl in his care "This is Leighton. I'm looking after her for the week." The burly man nodded and he replaced his usually stony expression with a soft smile "Well hello Leighton. I'm Luther and the weird man next to you is Klaus."
The group went back to the previous conversation ignoring Klaus's past question "Like what?"
"Like Dad. The way he died." Diego groaned irritated "Aaaand here we go." Vanya looked at Number one in confusion "I thought it was a heart attack?"
"Well wouldn't they know?" Allison questioned Luther. The man shrugged "Theoretically"
"Theoretically?"
Luther tried to get the group to understand. His eyebrows furrowed slightly as he thought "I'm just saying, at the very least, something happened. The last time that I talked to Dad, he sounded strange."
Klaus gurgled from his drink "Oh, quelle surprise!" Leighton giggled causing the man to wiggle his eyebrows at her.
"He sounded on edge. Told me I should be careful who to trust." Luther said as he continued to try and convince the family. Leighton finally piped up from her spot "Maybe he watched too much Gravity falls." She said with a smile "Last time I watched too much Gravity falls I thought Diego was secretly a bunch of gnomes"
Luther tried to hide a smile, while Klaus laughed openly causing Leighton's smile to falter slightly.
Luther turned to Klaus who had recovered from his laughing fit "Look, I know you don't like to do it, but I need you to talk to Dad." Klaus scoffed " I can't just call Dad in the afterlife and be like, "Dad, could you just stop playing tennis with Hitler for a moment and take a quick call?"
Leighton looked up at her friend, her green eyes large with wonder "Who's Hitler. Is he one of the bad men. Like Trump?" Diego nodded ruffling her head softly "Yeah kid."
Luther looked at Klaus outrageously "Since when? That's your thing."
"I'm not in the right frame of mind." Klaus said accidentally hitting Leighton in the nose. Allison raised an eyebrow at her brother "You're high?"
Leighton raised an eyebrow confusion held in her orbs as she looked at the group "But he's not. He's on the ground. I don't understand." She said directing the last part of her statement to Diego.
Klaus looked at the girl curiously "You don't get out much do you." He then turned back to the Allison "Yeah! I mean, how are you not, listening to this nonsense?"
Luther sighed looking at his adoptive siblings once more "Then there's the issue - of the missing monocle."
Diego groaned causing Leighton to grab his hand and rub it slightly trying to get him calm down "Who gives a shit about a stupid monocle?"
"Exactly. It's worthless. So whoever took it,I think it was personal.Someone close to him.
Someone with a grudge." Luther said as his gaze moved around the room.
Klaus sighed placing his head on Leighton's lap "Where are you going with this?" Diego grunted his narrowed into daggers as he stared at Number one "Oh, isn't it obvious, Klaus? He thinks one of us killed Dad."
A series of groans and disagreements filled the room the siblings began to separate with Luther trying to call them back "I've not finished"
Diego placed the younger girl on his shoulders as they made their way out Leighton could faintly hear Klaus call out "Sorry, I'm just gonna go murder Mom.Be right back."

LEIGHTON HUMMED SLIGHTLY as music filled the house, she laughed loudly as she looked over and saw Diego dancing.
He saw her laughing and picked her spinning her in delicate circles. Her hair spun out and bounced with each move. Soon the two were in a world of their own.
There was a loud crash that brought the two to reality. Leighton gripped Diego in silent panic, her brain synapses firing like a hyped up internal aurora borealis. Diego grabbed her shoulders "Leighton I don't want your mom to kill me. So stay here until you don't hear anything anymore. Okay?"
Leighton nodded and moved to hide behind the couch. Soon the loud noise had vanished and Leighton made her way cautiously down the stairs.
She found her way into the kitchen where her eyes met unfamiliar brown eyes. The boys eyes widened and something indescribable flashed in his orbs. His mouth twisted into a soft smile.
"Leighton."
