Francis Lawrence was seated on her left, leaving the chair in front of her open for Tom. Francis gave Sofia her script, she underlined the lines they had to practice today. It was weird to think that they would start filming next week. The loud sound of someone bursting in the room was heard behind her back. Sofia knew Tom had stormed in, he kept apologising and sat down getting the script from Francis.
"I want to start at the beginning, Sofia you have just gotten off the train and meet Coriolanus for the first time. Please use the room if you need to." He received a nod from her.
"Tom, you want to create trust between you and your tribute. Read your lines and give her the rose. I brought a prop for you to practice alright?" Tom and Sofia stood up from their chairs.
"Okay Tom, the train just arrived and you wait for your tribute to jump out of the train."
Sofia stood still for a couple seconds with a distance from Tom. He walked a couple of steps, and looks around for the familiar face of his tribute. Francis reads that Lucy get's help getting out of the train by Jessup. Sofia fixes her hair a little before noticing Tom watching her. He walks up to her and points out the fake rose.
"Welcome to the capitol." Sofia looks at the rose and then at him.
"When I was little my mama used to bathe me in buttermilk and rose petals." She admitted to him. Francis already told her to have a soft southern accent, that becomes heavier with big emotions.
Francis reads out loud that Lucy takes a rose petal from the rose, and eats it. She keeps her focus on Tom. She didn't actually eat the rose because it was fake, so she threw it on the ground.
"Tastes like bedtime." Sofia smiles big, while Tom's face expression is a little shocked but fascinated.
"You look like you shouldn't be here." Sofia checks him out by looking up and down, like the script says.
"Well, I shouldn't...but I'm your mentor." He smiles big. It was the first time that Sofia had seen the man smile. But she knew it was just acting.
"A rebel?" Sofia asks and looks behind her, where Jessup would be standing."And what does my mentor do, besides bring me roses?"
"I do my best to take care of you." His voice didn't sound too sure, like he was lying to her. It was the perfect way to say that line.
Francis read out that a girl gets thrown out of the train and keeps yelling no.
"Good luck with that gorgeous." She takes the rose when he looks at the girl that supposedly yells. Francis acted like a peace keeper, and pushed her softly away from Tom.
Tom tried to talk to some "peacekeepers" but gets ignored. Francis reads out that he's standing before the truck and hesitates for a second. He supposedly runs into the truck and waits for the door to shut.
"Okay. Good job both of you!" Francis speaks enthusiastically. "We'll end this scene here, and go further with the scenes later today. Tom we are practicing your lines for the beginning in the movie. Sofia you have to record your songs just in case now, and we'll go over more lines after lunch."
Sofia grabbed her bag and said goodbye. There was a studio in the building where she already was, so it took two minutes to find it. The plan was to start with hanging tree. Francis didn't know if the sound was gonna be good if she sang outside with the wind. So they decided that hanging tree was the only not live song. The other songs were gonna be sang live, but they wanted to have clean verses on Spotify and all that.
He knew she was recording the soundtracks in the studio. Tom got bored and decided to walk up to the door. David was say behind a big panel, and Sofia stood in the booth singing. David didn't mind Tom sitting in the studio with them.
Sofia didn't see Tom at first while singing. But got nervous when she did notice him. She was singing the song that is dedicated to Snow. Pure as driven snow. He saw the lyrics in the script but hadn't know what it would sound like that.
This world, it's dark, this world, It's scary.
He loved the sounds of the southern accent coming through the lines sometimes. David wanted to have the accent in there because she was on the podium with the Covey.
You're as a pure as the driven, snow. Tom secretly loved the Snow part. She acted with one name and it was the one thing he loved the most as she was singing. Especially the second Snow in the second part. Sofia kept contact with Tom, she wanted to taunt him a little, a small smile on her lips through the singing.
It's why I trust you, you're as pure as the driven snow.
"This is amazing, I think we have it now." David clapped for her performance.
"I hope so after three recordings."Sofia laughs. "Am I late for our table read? Is that why you're here?" She asked Tom, walking out the booth.
"I was bored at lunch, so I thought why not sit here? Did I make you nervous?" A smirk plastered on his face. Sofia wished she could rip that smirk of his face.
"Well I don't know about you, but I'm getting my lunch." She grabbed her bag and walked out the door, thanking David. Tom quickly walked behind her.
"It was alright." His English accent really taking over now. Sofia knew he lived in Brooklyn, New York so he had two different accents in one.
"What did you think was alright Tom?" Sofia didn't bother to turn around.
"You're singing."He speaks. "It could have been more emotional maybe, or just clearer."
Sofia rolled her eyes. "Can you sing Tom? I don't think so. I'm not playing this game of telling what you or I can do better." He scoffed at her answer.
"I like that game actually." She stopped walking and turned around to face him.
"We're stuck together for more than a year because of that stupid contract. You can at least act like you're nice." Her English accent got stronger when she got agitated.
"I am nice, just not to you." No emotions in his voice at all.
"You don't even know me, how the hell did you decide not to like me?" Her voice growing more agitated by the minute.
"The moment when I saw you. That's when I made my decision."
Sofia found his conversation ridiculous. He had no reason just not to like her. She was nice to him at their first meeting. He was the one that didn't bother to be nice. She walked away from him outside to her trailer. Only when she sat down, she regretted signing that contract.
