arabella and bellamy were searching around for the source of the acid fog, bellamy found a door and attempted to use his key card twice. but it didn't work. the couple looked at each other until raven's voice spoke through the radio.

"arabella, bellamy. come in." she said.

"yeah, we're a little busy here, raven." bellamy replied, him and arabella turning a corner after he spoke.

"you missed check-in. you two aren't getting it on in mount weather, are you?" the girl joked, making arabella let out a laugh.

"unfortunately not." arabella replied back with a laugh, making bellamy roll his eyes.

"did you find the source of the acid fog yet?" raven asked, the sound of shuffling paper in the background.

"we're making our way there now." bellamy responded, his pace quick. "it's taking longer than we thought."

"i don't know enough to crack it on this end. you gotta give me something."

"we're working on it." he said as he and arabella came to a stop at another door with a key card scanner, he tapped the card, but it didn't work again.

"i think something's wrong." arabella spoke up.

"what?" raven asked.

"bell's key card isn't working." she answered, sending a nervous look to bellamy.

"that's not good."

"we need to try and find another way in." bellamy glanced down at arabella. "we'll call you back."

the two walked two feet, revealing themselves.

"stay right there!" a guard yelled, making arabella groan. "hands in the air." he ordered, the guard behind him having his gun raised.

"run." bellamy whispered, grabbing arabella's hand and taking her up the stairs on their left side.

"eastbound. in pursuit of the targets." the guard shot out.

bellamy had ditched the hat, as did arabella. "so much for working disguises'." she told him.

"he's not lovejoy, and the girl is yet to be identified. repeat, he's not lovejoy, and the girl is yet to be identified." the guard spoke into the radio.

the couple had put a bit of distance between themselves and the guards, but they continued running. they sprinted down a hallway, alarms blaring in their ears, and then they ran down some stairs, but the guard had caught up to them.

"you're surrounded! there's no way out!" he yelled.

they came to a stop as they turned a corner, the two of them breathing heavily as they looked around.

"keep your eyes open. garza, do you see them?" a guard asked from the radio.

arabella heard footsteps heading towards them as she jumped out, knocking the guard's gun out of his hand and sending a hard punch to his face, making him stumble backwards. she punched him again, knocking him back into the stairs before sending two more punches to his face, knocking him out cold.

bellamy looked at her proudly as he searched the guard for his keycard.

"garza, what's your status?" the man on the radio asked. "garza? garza. do you see them?"

arabella let bellamy grab the guard's gun as they headed to one of the nearby doors and tapped the key card, they both sent each other a smile when the door opened.

"thank, god." arabella breathed out.

...

arabella and bellamy rushed back to maya and vincent's home, the man knocked on the door, and a few moments later, vincent opened it, only showing his face.

"vincent. we need your help." bellamy told him quietly.

vincent opened the door, allowing the two to slip inside.

"it's all over the radio. they know about the two of you." the older man told them. "and they specifically know it's you, arabella." he looked to her. "did anyone see either of you come here?"

the girl let out a huff. "least they'll know who to not let come after me... and no. we've been keeping to the vents and unmonitored halls, like you said."

"vincent." someone called out, making the couple turn around, seeing a guard they immediately held up their guns, safety off.

vincent quickly stood between them. "it's okay. lee's one of us."

"dante was like a father to me." lee explained, his hand held out as arabella and bellamy still had their guns raised. "some of us don't agree with cage's agenda."

"where's jasper, monty, and maya?" bellamy asked, looking at vincent.

"they're okay. thanks to lee, we moved them to a wing that's already been searched." vincent replied.

bellamy slowly lowered his gun, but arabella still had hers held up. "sounds a bit risky." she said, her voice sceptical.

"we had no choice." the older man told her. "they've gone public with what happened on level five. they're saying you killed ten soldiers."

bellamy rolled his eyes, glancing down at arabella, who's eyes were still on lee. he lowered her gun slowly, earning a look of annoyance from his girlfriend.

"i don't know how much longer we can keep this shell game going." he added on, arabella and bellamy put their guns away. "did you take out the acid fog yet?" he asked.

the pair shook their heads. "no. no." arabella breathed out. "that's why we're here."

"we're gonna need another route." bellamy told him.

"way ahead of you." vincent rushed to the dining table. "you can get there through the retrofit zones." he grabbed some sort of blueprints, and bellamy cleared the table, allowing vincent to place them down.

"they're off limits. no cameras, no patrols. we used some to move the kids." he explained, going off to the side before coming back. "you're also gonna need this." he handed the strange object to bellamy.

"what is it?" arabella asked curiously.

"it's an acetylene torch." vincent answered, making arabella nod her head as if she was supposed to know what that was.

...

vincent had told the two where they should go, the two travelled through the vents, and bellamy used the torch to melt the metal grate separating them from where they needed to be.

he moved the vent grate and settled it against the wall. he climbed out of the vent and helped arabella out. she pulled out her gun as she looked around the corner. the two then slowly made their way through the large room. bellamy placed down the torch and nodded at arabella to follow.

bellamy smashed the glass of the case that was holding an axe. arabella then watched as he climbed up to the door, smashing the key card scanner, then placing the handle of the axe through the door handles.

"hey, superstar." arabella turned on her earbud, as did bellamy. "we made it. hope you have a plan."

"still working on it." raven responded. "give us something to go on. what do you see."

"a huge steel vat." bellamy told her, shaking his head slightly. "looks like a submarine."

"there's some other tanks with chemical formulas and warning labels." arabella added on, walking over to the tanks, bellamy jumping down and following behind her.

"bunch of pipes running into the wall. monitor."

someone took the radio from raven. "ooh, go to the monitor." the familiar voice said.

arabella shook her head. "hey, wick." she said, letting out a chuckle.

"hey, kid. you staying out of trouble?" he asked with a laugh.

arabella simply scoffed. "yeah, right."

there was scuffling through the radio. "don't mind wick. he's not really helping." raven said.

wick took the radio again. "hey, arabella. how's my boy monty doing?" he asked.

"he's good. for now anyways."

"as vague as ever, arabella kane." wick replied. "anyway, pleasantries over. listen, if that monitor is a control panel, we can use it to kill this thing."

arabella and bellamy stood over the monitor, both of them rather confused. "look for a ph scale."

"right, well, it has a scale, but the rest..." bellamy trailed off. "uh... s-3, v-2-0-5, h-2-s-o-7."

"basically, some confusing bullshit." arabella muttered. "can't we just blow this thing?"

"no, no. they'll know their defences are down." wick said quickly. "they'll send a tech to fix it or reroute it or pull out some other weapon we don't even know about."

"plus, you'd probably melt your face off." raven added on dryly.

"okay, so in short terms, it means i don't get to have any fun?" arabella asked with a huff.

"sorry, arabella. look, you know i like a good explosion, but we gotta think our way through this one." raven told them. "we can do this."

"okay, uh... level indicator." bellamy named out some of the sections on the monitor.

"nope." wick replied.

"do you see an actuator anywhere?" raven asked.

arabella and bellamy looked at each other in confusion. "we have no idea what that is." arabella replied, shaking her head in disbelief.

"come on, what else?" wick was on the radio again.

"internal pressure sensor." bellamy continued.

"no."

"uh, setpoint and alarm."

"let's avoid that one."

"maintenance and cleaning." arabella spoke up, peeking past bellamy. "that's gotta be something right?"

there was silence on the other end for a moment until wick spoke. "bellamy, go to that subdirectory. see if there's anything there that says 'passivation'."

bellamy tapped on the screen. "okay. i'm on it." he tapped down the list. "got it." he then pressed the 'enter' button. "says, uh, aqueous sodium hydroxide bath."

arabella looked down at the screen. "there's also a ph scale."

"that's a base. that'll neutralise the acid. select that." wick urged.

bellamy pressed the 'proceed' button, arabella looked at him, slightly nervous in case the thing just blew up in their faces.

"it's doing something." bellamy informed them, removing his hands from the monitor.

"you should be able to hear the pump." raven told them.

"we can hear them." arabella responded, looking back down at the monitor. "the needle's moving. the ph is rising."

"it's working." wick said. arabella clapped her hands with a smile.

the couple turned their heads back to the monitor, the needle still moving before it then stopped it read 'passivation success.'

bellamy pulled arabella into him with a grin. "all right. send a flare."

"roger that." raven responded, her voice sounding strange.

arabella looked up at bellamy, leaning up to kiss him. "look at us go." she laughed.

bellamy hummed with a smile, kissing her again. "we've always made a great team."

arabella chuckled. "the sorta brains and the murderer?" she raised a brow at him.

"sorta brains?" he sent her a playful look.

arabella laughed softly. "come on. let's go."

bellamy nodded, following after her, grabbing the torch. he paused looking down at a ph scale attached to one of the tanks. the man crouched down and wiped away the dirt covering the scale.

"what's up?" arabella asked in confusion, looking down at him.

bellamy rushed back to the monitor, a scared look on his face.

"bell." arabella grabbed his arm. "what's wrong?"

he turned to her. "that ph scale on the tank is at zero."

"oh shit." arabella muttered, turning on her earbud again. "raven, we've got a problem, like a massive problem." the girl said.

"dammit, raven, where are you?" bellamy asked in slight panic. "i don't think the acid fog is down. get word to clarke. we have to stop the army. raven!"

arabella let out a puff of air, running her hands through her hair. "raven, what's going on?!"

the two looked at the monitor, the needle was moving back down to zero. arabella stepped back. "this cannot be happening." she shook her head, panic in her eyes as she looked at bellamy.

then an alarm began blaring, and there was banging coming from the door they put the axe through to keep it shut. the guards barged through the door.

"drop your weapon!" he yelled. it was emerson.

the two made a run for it back towards where the vent was, they hid behind one of the tanks.

"on my lead. they're both armed. don't be a hero." arabella recognised the guard's voice, it was garza, the one she had knocked out before.

arabella looked at bellamy, hoping he had a plan.

"show yourself. hands first."

bellamy turned on the torch, shoving it between to metal pipes to keep it held up towards one of the tanks. "run for the vent. now!" bellamy told her, arabella and bellamy rushed forward, avoiding the bullets flying towards them, and they flung themselves into the vent.

"cease fire!" garza yelled out. "don't hit the tanks!"

the two quickly moved through the vents, bellamy moved onto his back and fired both of his pistols at the guards when they tried getting into the vent. he fired the guns until he was out of ammo.

"go, go, go." he urged arabella as he moved back onto his knees and followed behind her. they heard the tanks explode, the explosion making the vents shake.

arabella rushed through the vents, almost at the exit, but the fire caught up to them and forced them out of the vents, slamming the two into the wall of the standing area.

"shit." arabella cursed, patting down on her jeans that had caught fire.

bellamy rushed to arabella on his knees. "you okay?" he coughed out.

arabella nodded, also coughing. "yeah, i think so. are you?" she asked, holding his face with her hands.

bellamy nodded, resting his forehead on hers. arabella began to softly laugh. "that was so fun."

the man pulled back, then he let out a laugh. "my crazy girl." he shook his head with a smile.
