"this changes everything." bellamy said as he put up a large blanket with an x on it. "no more running from spears. ready to be badasses girls?"
arabella smirked at the man, placing a nut into her mouth.
"look, i'm not gonna fight you both on bringing guns back to camp. i know we need them, but don't expect me to like it." clarke told the two.
"we're lucky the rifles were packed in grease. the fact they survived means we're not sitting ducks anymore." bellamy told them. "you need to learn how to do this."
arabella glanced at clarke who still seemed quite concerned about bringing guns into the camp, she handed the girl a rifle giving her a nod.
clarke held the gun awkwardly. "so i just hold it on my shoulder?" she asked.
"yeah." arabella answered, then walked over to her. "a little higher." she added, moving the gun to the correct position. arabella reached over to grab a gun for herself. she held it at the correct height, but bellamy stepped in and moved the gun, even though it was pointless. his hand lingered on arabella's shoulder.
"i know what i'm doing." arabella said softly. "my dad wanted me to be part of the guard when i was little."
"right, yeah, sorry." bellamy stumbled. "er, watch and learn." he grabbed a gun and aimed it at the blanket, he pulled the trigger and the gun just clicked.
arabella and clarke looked at each other trying not to let out a laugh, bellamy glanced at the two girls before reloading the gun.
bellamy tried again, looking through the scope, pulling the trigger, and again, it just clicked.
"still watching." clarke told him.
"my bullets are duds." he said in annoyance.
arabella rolled her eyes, she held up the gun and looked through the scope aiming for the middle of the 'x' that was marked on it, she pulled the trigger the bullet flew through the blanket a little more to the left than she had wanted.
clarke tried next, she pulled the trigger but the bullet hit nowhere near the target. arabella kept her mouth shut though considering clarke had never touched a gun in her life.
"that was amazing." clarke said excitedly, letting out a laugh, but then she turned around to arabella and bellamy. "am i horrible for feeling that?" she asked.
"try again." arabella smiled.
clarke shook her head. "no. we shouldn't waste the ammunition."
"you need to practice." bellamy jumped in.
"no, we need to talk about how we're gonna keep guns around camp." clarke argued, looking at arabella to back her up. "where are we gonna keep them, and who has access." clarke carried on.
bellamy ignored her and took a shot at the blanket.
"you left miller in charge of the grounder." clarke said to him. "you must trust him."
"you should keep him close. the others listen to him." bellamy bluntly told her, taking a short glance at arabella.
"i should keep him close?" clarke asked, confusion etched onto her face. "you two, what's going on?" she looked at the two.
bellamy and arabella said nothing, she felt bad for not telling clarke she was leaving, but it had to be done.
"all the rations you took. you're both gonna run. that's why you both agreed to come with me. you were just gonna load up on supplies and just disappear." clarke connected all the dots.
"well, when you say it like that it makes it sound bad." arabella told her. "it's not like we murdered anyone and we're on the run."
bellamy and clarke sent arabella a look. "no, i didn't murder anyone." she rolled her eyes.
"it's not like i-"
"we." arabella corrected bellamy.
he looked at her, rolling his eyes. "it's not like we have a choice. the ark will be here soon."
"so you're just gonna leave octavia?" clarke asked bellamy, then looked to arabella. "your best friend?"
"octavia hates me. she'll be fine." bellamy shook his head.
"i need some air." arabella quickly said as she grabbed her bag and headed back up to the surface.
...
arabella sat herself on the ground, her head held in her hands. she looked up and took in a deep breath, she felt weird, she was drenched in sweat and her heart was racing.
"arabella." she heard a voice say, a voice she knew all too well.
she didn't dare to look over to where the voice came from. "shut up."
"arabella." her father said again.
arabella stood up and quickly looked at her father. "i said shut the hell up!"
"did you mean what you said to me before you were sent to the ground?" he asked, an almost saddened look on his face.
arabella scoffed. "every single word." she told him.
"i love you, bella. i'm your dad." he shrugged, walking closer to her. "all i can do is ask for your forgiveness."
"you want my forgiveness?" arabella dryly laughed. "you'll have it when i'm dead."
her father's faced morphed into anger. "you are evil." he yelled. "you're a heartless monster, you almost killed two people? and for what? to get back at me?" he yelled louder.
"you aren't real." arabella whispered, repeating herself over and over, her body curled up and her hands over her ears as she heard her father repeat his words. "i hate you." she cried out.
"let me guess, i ruined your life for killing your mother, i ruined your life for not believing those guards attacked you first, that about right?" he taunted.
"you just wanted to get rid of me." arabella seethed, standing up onto her feet her anger projected at the man in front of her. "you're a coward."
arabella tried to walk away, but her father appeared in front of her. "get out of my head!" she screamed.
"crazy bitch." she heard someone mutter from behind her, she quickly spun around to see dax holding a gun to her head. "fucking shoot me." arabella gave in, her arms stretched out with a saddened smile on her face.
dax stared at her for a moment before hitting her in the head with his gun. arabella dropped to the floor, not quite knocked out but her head was throbbing.
arabella watched as dax walked away, she stumbled as she tried to stand up to follow him, leaning onto trees for support. the girl groaned, reaching her hand to touch her head and seeing blood on her fingers.
"what a dick." she groaned again.
arabella followed the sound of bellamy's shouts, she could barely even make out what he was saying but she knew it was him. she silently made her way towards him, and when she saw dax pointing his gun at bellamy, she went into full protective mode.
she charged at the large man and somehow managed to tackle him to the ground, he still had the gun in his hand and tried to shoot it at arabella but it just clicked.
the girl smirked, yanking the gun out of his grip and throwing it to the side.
her head was still pounding she was surprised she hadn't passed out yet. she threw a hard punch to his jaw. "you're a goddamn psycho." he yelled, kicking arabella in the ribs and making her let out a cry.
"i've been called worse." she managed to breathe out, slowly moving her hand towards her boot where her knife was.
while he was distracted trying to get the gun to work, arabella threw the knife at him, hoping it would hit him somewhere.
dax hissed as the knife sliced his arm, he spun around and glared harshly at arabella. "i'll kill you."
"go ahead." arabella winced as she stood up. "i'm right here."
dax raised the gun at arabella who smirked at him.
"put it down, dax." clarke said from behind him, her own gun in her hand.
arabella felt extremely dizzy, her head swayed slightly.
"bella?" bellamy quietly said.
she spun around but before she could say a word everything went black and bellamy watched the girl fall harshly to the ground.
