Chapter 15 * Wicked Old Witch *
The person released their hold on me and I whipped around to face my attacker. I was met by cat-like green eyes framed by dark brown hair. It was a woman. But she didn't look to be the same as the others inside. She wore an ebony black dress that reached to the ground, dark red lipstick, and rings adorning her fingers. There was something sinister about her but...in a misunderstood way, not malicious.
Her eyes looked me up and down before resting on my face.
"You're not one of Glinda's girls," she commented, her dark eyebrows raised.
I licked my dry lips and crossed my arms defiantly.
"No, I'm not. I don't even know who that is," I snapped.
My attitude didn't anger her though. In fact, she seemed amused by it. She circled around me before coming to stand in front of the window.
"Those are Glinda's girls," she said, tapping the glass behind her with the back of her finger.
"Yeah, I'm definitely not one of them," I snorted.
She smirked.
"No, you don't strike me as one of hers,"
I pusehed a strand of brown hair from my face before she spoke again.
"Who are you?" she questioned me, head tilted to the side.
"Dawn... Dawn Gale," I told her.
"If you're not Glinda's, then what are you doing here, Dawn Gale?" she asked, her green eyes narrowed in suspicion.
I shrugged, not wanting to reveal everything to a total stranger.
"I was following someone... The girl that guard just brought in," I said.
She glanced back at the castle before turning back to me.
"What do you want with her?" she asked.
"What busines of it is yours?" I shot back, a bit angry at being interrogated like this.
She laughed, crossing her arms.
"Just a question, Dawn Gale,"
Mulling it over in my head, I decided to bite the bullet and tell her. After all, she didn't seem to be connected to this other woman - Glinda - and she wouldn't let me go until I told her my intentions anyway.
"I came here to kill that girl," I confessed, meeting her eyes.
She arched an eyebrow and gestured for me to continue.
"She murdered my-" I started, searching for a word to describe what Jack and I had been to each other, "-friend... She needs to pay for what she's done..."
The woman let out a scoff, clearly not appalled by my revenge plan.
"She's Glinda's now. Believe me, she'll pay for it..." she said ominously.
"So...does this mean you're letting me go then?" I asked, starting to take a step back.
An evil smile crossed her face and she shrugged.
"Why not? Might be fun to watch..." she winked before walking off to the entrance of the castle.
Huh. Interesting lady. She seemed a lot like myself somehow - an ally of sorts if ever I needed one. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a dark-haired woman racing down the road towards me. When she finally stopped in front of me, she was out of breath.
"Please... Miss, do you know Jack?"
