Chapter 8

CHAPTER 8
Kayla opened her eyes and flinched at the bright light that instantly hit her eyes. Whoever had put her on this comfy bed had left the curtains wide open. She closed her eyes and slowly sat up. When she finally did open her eyes again, the walls were spinning. She tried to get up, but her foot caught on a blanket and she fell face forward onto the floor. Groaning in pain, she lifted herself up and grabbed the bed to steady herself. She somehow managed to get up and walk over to the window without any more incidents. She looked out and sighed deeply, she was still in Chicago.
Muttering curses she walked back to the bed and started searching for her phone so she could call Klaus and give him a piece of her mind. As she was looking, she noticed a folded piece of paper on the nightstand. Curious, she picked it up and opened it.
Dear Kayla,
If you are reading this, you've finally woken up from the spell we put on you. You've been asleep for two days now and by now we will already be on our way to Mystic Falls, or even already be there. I'm sorry I had to knock you out, but I couldn't risk you undaggering Kol. Rebekah says "Hi." Gloria bailed on us so you might want to retrieve your belongings.
一 Klaus
Kayla sighed in exasperation. She needed to find a way back to Mystic Falls. "Kol? Are you there?" she asked. She only heard silence. Kayla felt utterly alone. She tried a few more times but eventually gave up and headed towards Gloria's.

The man groaned in pain and hunger as he sat up out of his coffin. Anger rushed through his veins. He wanted to kill the person that put him there. But one voice brought him out of his murderous thoughts.
"Kol? Are you there?" the voice asked.
He tried to figure out who the voice belonged to. He struggled for a moment, but the it finally clicked.

A few tears fell down her face as she finally went into the back room. Kayla couldn't believe her eyes. There was a blood puddle by the door. A clear sign Klaus must've killed Gloria. There was no way she would just disappear.
She gathered her courage and slowly walked out the front door. She would miss the place. But first she wanted to go smack Klaus. "Kol? Are you mad at me?" she asked, hesitancy clear in her voice. She knew something was wrong. She couldn't even his feel his presence. She wanted to cry her eyes out, but instead . . .
Why should she bother to wait for the man that won't talk to her. She was emotionally exhausted, and whatever Klaus had put in her was just making it worse. She felt like she was on a roller coaster ride with no exit. Sighing, she started walking towards the bus stop.
She sat on a bench to wait for the bus when a young man who looked to be in his twenties sat by her.
"I'm Kayla. What's your name?" she asked with a flirty smile. She hoped by doing this that Kol would come back to her.
"I'm Pan, Peter Pan." He replied, his voice was deep and rich. If Kayla didn't have a soulmate already, she would want this man just for his voice.
"Like the Disney character?" Kayla questioned, something was off about this man. His eyes were a deep shade of green that reminded her of a forest, his muscular arms bulged from beneath his shirt.
The man chuckled at her response, "That's right." He had leaned in to stare into her eyes, Kayla didn't know whether to feel uncomfortable or to enjoy the attention she was getting from him.
"Do you mind if I kiss you?" she questioned lowly. She didn't know why she asked. She felt trapped inside her mind, like someone else was controlling it.
"Not at all." Pan whispered and brushed his lips against hers. Suddenly blood shot out of his mouth and he started choking. Instantly, Kayla felt like she was back in control of herself. Pan fell down dead, and behind where his body once was sat her soulmate.
"Kol." she whispered breathlessly. She was so happy that tears started forming in her eyes. Ignoringthe fact that Kol had blood splattered all over his face, blood covering his hand, and a dark dangerous look in his eye, she threw herself onto him and wrapped her arms around his chest. She started to stop uncontrollably. She knew there was a dead body and that soon the bus would be there, she just didn't care.
She could feel him. She moved her arms to wrap around his neck, and he wrapped his possessively around her waist. No one could break their little bubble. "Mine." he whispered over and over into her ear.

"Darling I already told you, I am not allowing you to drive this deathtrap." Kol growled angrily, burying his face in her neck and breathing in her scent in an attempt to calm down.
Kol had compelled a couple to let them have their sports car, yet the thousand year old vampire wouldn't let Kayla drive it. Instead he wanted to drive. Apparently someone who had never even driven a car was safer than her driving.
"But you don't even know how to drive!" she fought as he carried her bridal style and attempted to put her in the passenger seat. This resulted in her hitting her head.
"Damn it Kol!" she hissed, rubbing her head in pain. Kayla glared at her soulmate, wishing she had a stake. It had not even been an hour and they were already fighting like a married couple.
"It's safer for me to drive." Kol insisted. He remembered how Kayla had almost wrecked just the other day. He didn't want to risk her getting hurt.
"Kol, I love you, but if you drive I might as well be dead." she sighed in exasperation. She knew Kol had been watching through her eyes all her life, but that didn't mean he instantly knew how to drive.
Finally Kol was able to get her in the car. Ignoring her protests he slammed the door shut and vamp sped to the drivers side.
As they started driving towards Mystic Falls, Kol swerved and hit a tree. "WE'RE GONNA DIE!" Kayla yelled fearfully.
Scenarios started playing out in her head and she yelled again as he tried to back away from the ditch. "RIP KAYLA FORBES. DEATH BY SOULMATE."

{ Sorry the ending is more of a filler than anything. Next chapter will start with them being at Mystic High . . . maybe }
